An «Irish» bar that plays rock? It’s just a fru-fru american restaurant with an Irish name. Sheperd’s Pie was mashed potatoes over sloppy Joe. Wait staff were fun though and the location is interesting.

This place was busy when I came here with three of my friends to grab something to eat and drink before going to the Sprint Center. We were seated right away and we took the last table. Lucky us! I ordered a Guinness while everybody else ordered Sangrias. I didn’t order anything to eat since I ate before I came. I can’t remember the names of what the two snacks that were ordered but one looked like potato wedge fries while the other was kinky crab or some name that everybody laughed to. The bread they gave us was good and the dip was Guinness mixed with other stuff. Our waiter was nice but he was pretty busy with numerous tables so we couldn’t always get his attention when we needed something. I’ll have to come back here to try their food one of these days I’m out with my friends for drinks.

The only thing vegetarian they had was a mushroom-peas risotto, and for an Irish pub, their Italian offering was quite decent. I was less a fan of their draft beers though.

Get a taste of Ireland without leaving the US? I’m in!!! I had dinner at Raglan Road with a group of friends on a Friday night. Before then, I had no idea this place existed. As we walked through the tall doors, we were transported into a cross between a dark pub and a palace. With the high ceilings and ornate woodwork the place has a certain beauty that captures your attention, while the full bar with TVs, live music, and an Irish dancer on tabletop lend a pub feel the place. It’s almost like paring a silk blouse with denim jeans — two things that are standard wear in completely separate environments, but together can be a great combination or a complete flop. Raglan Road is definitely the former. This is a great place to grab a bite to eat away from the mad crowds. We were there on a Friday night about 8:30 pm, and the restaurant was busy, but not standing-room-only like a lot of other places. It is also great option if you’re with a party that is more into food and conversation than partying. I can see taking more reserved guests here so they can see and get a feel for the P&L without being turned off by a lot of the hardcore partying that goes on here. Our waiter was amazing. Water was on the table within 2 minutes of being seated, and the glasses were constantly refilled. The menu had a lot of wonderful looking food items. I was in the mood for seafood, and when I asked how the risotto was, the waiter gave me his honest assessment(a bit bland) — score one for the waiter. Since I was planning on eating«real food»(aka steak) later, a friend and I asked to split the Fish & Chips, but the waiter didn’t hear the split part, and we each got separate orders. Since it was clear that he really hadn’t heard correctly, and my friend was starving we didn’t say anything. The fish could have used some flavor, but was tender and fried to perfection. The fries were good — wide cut, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Two sauces came with the meal. One was your traditional mayo based tarter sauce(Yum!), and the other was some sort of green sauce that I didn’t particularly care for, but my friend loved. Others in our party got the pulled pork sandwich, which they said was great. No one in our party ordered drinks, so I can’t comment on those. Overall, the service was 4 stars, atmosphere and entertainment 5 stars, and the food only 3 stars. I think I just ordered the wrong thing(what was I thinking ordering fish when I was hungry for steak?!?), and I hope to come back many times to find some amazing food in an atmosphere that spirits me away from Kansas City and into the Marilyns of Ireland.

Location is in the Power & Light District. This is located at the end of the stage so I am not sure if the patio would be ideal when they have life music, but it is worth a visit on a less crazy night. The décor was very unique and even though we sat patio, we all took a peak inside. The service was great. I was with about 8 people, so sometimes getting everyone on the same page during happy hour is not very easy, but she was very attentive to us and also checked back. They had a wide range of food options, along with different drinks. Great little Irish bar in the mix of all that it is around.

My first time at Raglan Road was on Saint Patrick’s Day. We came to have the traditional Irish breakfast. It was amazing! We also got drinks and I had to get a black’n’tan. Because we had got there early 7 am or so we got free Guinness glasses! I also went to Raglan road for my Bachelorette Party. We got drinks and enjoyed the Celtic dancer. There was even a cover band when we went on Saturday night! Overall Raglan Road is a fun place to go drink and eat Irish items!

Very beautiful décor with great atmosphere. I was here on a Saturday night. They had a live band and the Irish dancer. Beer selection is good(although why bother with Coors Light, Bud Light & Miller Lite on tap when taps are somewhat limited?) with a full suite of local Boulevard choices and English standards like Smithwick’s and Harp. Menu is unique with obvious touches from an experienced chef. I wanted to try something I’ve never had before, so I had the Beef Murray — curry beef pie in pastry with mushrooms, potatoes and spinach. It was wonderful, with tender chunks of beef and slightly spicy curry flavor. Also enjoyed the Irish brown soda bread with olive oil/honey dipping sauce. I ate at the bar which was not crowded and the bartender’s service was phenomenal. He suggested I taste the Boulevard seasonal ale and McSorley’s Irish black. For dessert, they had several choices which sounded wonderful but I was too full, so I had a Bailey’s Irish coffee — excellent. I will definitely eat here again anytime I’m in downtown KC.

Food, ok. Service, SLOW! They didn’t want to honor their own foursquare promo and took 15 mins for a mgr to work it out. Food isn’t worth the nearly 2 hr lunch, slow service and poor customer love.

I came here for a private event. The food was really, really good. They had a live band. The drinks were also spectacular. The building was really pretty. I liked the multi-tiered dining area.

The décor is authentic and imported from Ireland. The managers(and owners?) are from Ireland, so it’s not like they are pretending here. I can’t speak to the food, but the bartender was friendly and our mulled wine and spiced, warm whiskey drink were really good. They have live clog dancers on one of their tables. That sounds cool.

Last weekend I made my 3rd visit to Raglan Road for dinner. On my previous visits the food and service I received were good for a chain-style restaurant. This visit however was different. We were greeted by a pleasant young girl who promptly showed us to a table, from that point forward it was all down hill. After about 5 minutes waiting for a server to take our drink order I approached the bar and asked the barman where our server was. He apologized and went to find them. A minute or two later our server approached us and apologized for the delay explaining that he had been taking an order for a large table, which I knew to be false as I had seen him a couple of minutes earlier standing at the bar with his back to us talking to someone. There was also no large group in his section of the restaurant. Inattentive servers are one thing, servers that misrepresent the truth is quite another. We placed our drink order, and returned to browsing the menu. Shortly after our drinks arrived and we placed our order. One of the things I like about an Irish themed pub is that the food is the comfort food of my childhood. I was close to ordering Bangers and Mash, one of my childhood favorites and something I have ordered at Raglan Road before. Instead however, I ordered the Shepherds Pie, which is described as being served with a twist and also happens to be one something I loved in my youth. One of my favorites things about Raglan Road is the bread that is served before the meal. It is a heavy rye-like bread, moist in the center with a wonderful thick crust, served with a sweet«dipping sauce». We waited and waited and waited for this delicious bread which was finally delivered to our table by our inattentive waiter moments before the meal was bought to us. Even though it was bought to our table late it was as scrumptious as ever! My Shepherd’s Pie was indeed served with a twist, it looked like it had been formed in a large tin can, standing about 4″ high with and 4−5″ in diameter. The big problem with this is that it means that the mashed potato which makes up the top«crust» lacks any color and crispness that you get when cooked in prepared in a more traditional manner. This was a big disappointment as that crispy«crust» was something that I was really looking forward to. The meat«filling» was a major disappointment, for starters it was beef, not lamb as should be the case with Shepherd’s Pie(the hint is right there in the name, think about it). It was also incredibly dry and flavorless and appeared to lack any of the other ingredients normally found in a Shepherd’s Pie, such as sliced/diced carrots and peas. The sauce it was served with was tasty but failed to rescue the dish which was just plain bad. A disinterested and inattentive server and woeful food meant this visit was incredibly disappointing, especially given the good experiences I have had in the past. I will give them another chance but know that I will be avoiding the Cottage(Shepherd’s) Pie like the plague.

Eh, this place was fun, but don’t eat here if you’re vegetarian. The only thing meat and meat-based broth free is a side salad. I think there’s beef broth in the mashed potatoes, I tried them and they tasted really peculiar. So, of course, if you love meat, eat at an Irish pub, that’s a given. Anyway, the rest of this place looked really nice inside. I was in KC for a quick visit, and on this night there happened to be a Celtic dancer, performing a routine on one of the tables near the bar, so that was cool. After she was done a cover band was on the stage. Good instrumentals, bad singing, I gota say. this bar reminded me of a really fancy version of a bar I used to frequent in college, if that makes any sense. Also, our waitress’ attitude was in the toilet. Wow. Must have had a really horrible day, or reallllly didn’t want to be there or something.

After having lunch here the other day I’m upping my star rating and repenting my harsh words about the food. I can admit when I’m wrong! So anyway, as I said in my previous review, after having a very disappointing dinner experience at Raglan Road quite awhile ago, I resolved to avoid eating here whenever possible. However, my husband was pretty sure they had changed the menu, and since I was absolutely starving on Saturday, he convinced me that we should stop in for a late lunch. I’m glad that he did. The menu has indeed changed, and drastically for the better. Yes, it was a little bit pricey for lunch, but honestly, if the food is good, I don’t mind paying a bit extra… and the food was GOOD. To start with, we had the Scallops, and they came with some tasty dipping sauces — a garlic lemon tartar-ish sauce, and a thai chili sauce. My only complaint is that there were only 6 scallops, and I could’ve done twice that. For our mains, I had the lobster club with garlic parmesan«chips»(and if I’m not mistaken, there was a hint of truffle oil on the fries as well — so good!!), and my husband had the BBQ pork sandwich with regular fries. His sandwich was definitely decent, and mine was so freaking good. Large chunks of lobster, avocado, crispy prosciutto, and more of the garlic lemon sauce. OMG. I want another one right now. We also had wine — $ 4 per glass for the house Pinot Grigio(not bad at all), and our server was excellent — she provided great service without hovering or being annoying. As always, the atmosphere was great, though I am still sad about all of the TVs showing the various college football games. I feel like it takes something away from the overall feel of the place. All in all, though, it was a perfect lunch, and we’ll definitely be back.

This is one of my favorite places(out of two) in the Power and Light district. Now let me caveat that statement because I really dislike, nay hate, the P&L district. It has a feel that KCTIF’ed the hell out of this place, and Cordish strong-armed a bunch of restaurants to open chain locations in P&L. There is very little that is pure-KC in P&L, which strikes me as being sincerely false as P&L is such a tourist trap. That all said, Raglan Road does alright. It has a very cool interior, although it seems to have an identity crisis and doesn’t pull off the pub feel as well as say, Llewellyn’s. Service has usually been pretty good, and I hear that the dancing girl here is quite entertaining. I haven’t had the pleasure of seeing her performance, so I won’t speculate any further. The food here is unremarkable. The fish and chips are not that good, and most of their fare is palatable, just good enough to not walk away disgruntled. It’s pretty pricey, but what isn’t at P&L? The beer is great, as it should be. If you have to eat at P&L, this would be my 2nd choice. Johnny’s Tavern would be my first.

Raglan Road is located in KC’s Power and Light District. Talk about a FANTASTIC location. Reading their website, they describe themselves as authentic Irish Pub. That would be correct. From the amazing décor(it really does feel like an Irish Pub) to the food and drink, they have hit the nail on the head. Unfortunately the location and décor is where FANTASTIC ends and«REALLY?» begins. First the Good: This installation of Raglan Road is deceptively large. There are several entrances, multiple levels, different bar areas, etc…(so if you are meeting someone, be specific!) The décor is actually really nice. Tile, wood, that«old pub» feeling, Check! Irish Beer, Whisky. Check! Entertainment that is top notch(and usually from Ireland.) Check! You have a plethora of seating choices. Bar seating, high top tables, banquette’s, booths, low tables, etc… It seems that if you called ahead, a large table would be easy to put together for large groups. Now the Rest: Strike One. Yes, they have a good amount of beer choices but I am just not used to paying $ 5.50 for a 10oz.(ok… maybe 12oc.) glass of ANY beer. For that price I think you would at least get an Imperial Pint. Strike Two: Irish pub = Irish food. Cool. That is way it should be. I was shocked at the prices. While $ 15+ may be par for the P&L district, it doesn’t exactly say«pub food» to me. Example. I ordered the $ 17 fish and chips. I got two pieces of fish and a small handful of chips. REALLY? $ 17 for that? Hmmm… In defense of the fish, it was definitely fresh tasting and hand breaded… but still! Strike Three: While the overall size of Raglan Road lends itself nicely to the P&L district, it feels like they are just trying too hard. Irish Pub is intimate, dark, smelling of 70 years of smoke. A place to meet your friends(or not) after work for a few pints. Raglan Road just isn’t that in this reviewers opinion. Is Raglan Road a fun place to come for top notch entertainment: YES. Would it be fun every once in a while with friends: YES. Is Raglan Road a place to stop every day after work for a pint: NO Is the food and beer worth the prices: NO(especially with all the other choices in the P&L District.) Save your money and go to a local bar near home. It doesn’t even have to be Irish. Slantje.

I absolutely love Irish food! I think it may be my love for beer and butter… I went here last night for New Years Eve dinner and was impressed. The portions were huge, food tasted great, draft beers were plenty and service was awsome. We were seated right away, the music was on all night, the pace was good(not slow) and we even got free party gears! Our waitress was really nice and sweet, beer flights was just what we were looking for and everything we ordered were delicious… I would have licked my plate if there weren’t so many people around I had Ceasar salad to start, Guiness Bangers and Mash as main and Bread Pudding for dessert. I think I’m going back soon, very soon but I feel like I’m betraying my first love; O’dowds… ^ ^

Ho Hum. This place is just shameful. Not the décor, not the servers, and surely not the beer. But the food & a mistake earns two stars. Overall, one star. I will get this out of the way and do it now. The interior of this place is for lack of better word, Stunning. All of the wood was hand carved by real Irish carpenters. I also heard that the lead singer of a famous Irish band(NOT Bono) had a hand in the design as well. There is also a «Whiskey Room» where you can pay $ 400 a year to rent your own whiskey storage box with key. You get a metal tag next to your box too. The beer here is also pretty good. The bar is about as huge as I have seen in a restaurant. Now on to the food. It totally sucked. Prices are on the medium side($ 12 to $ 20 for an entrée) and portions are just enough to fill you without putting you in a diabetic coma. I had the Raglan burger while my wife had a spinach cheesed pot pie. My burger totally sucked. Very dry meat. The bread it was on was also um impressive. I will say the fries were indeed VERY good and crispy. Exactly how I like them. Wifey’s pot pie did not taste bad by any means. the problem with the pie itself was it was too runny and the ingredients totally ruined the flaky crust on top. A friend had the crème brule and was happy. My biggest beef is my total bill came out to $ 32, and the waitress proceeded to swipe my debit card for someone else’s tab. Now much was it? $ 105 And even worse, she failed to tell me(i guess she wanted to avoid confrontation) She was an extremely awesome server but this issue was major. I called them up the next day in which the manager proceeded to tell me it was cancelled out immediately and that I should have the cash back in the back soon. 4 days have passed, and no cash. I had to call my bank to dispute the charge. Finally, my last thought on this place is if you are going for a drink, you can’t go wrong. If you are looking for food however, look elsewhere.

Raglan Road is a really fun place to go, especially if you’ve never really had Irish cuisine before. The restaurant itself it really really nice; there is outdoor and indoor seating available. One of the outdoor seating areas is right on the inside of the interior of the Kansas City Live! Block, so you get to part of all the action while being able to sit down and enjoy your drink. Beer is a bit pricey, though– $ 6 for less than a pint. The food is average-priced for this area, and since I’m picky I wasn’t crazy about everything they had to offer, but if you are into being adventurous about your food, then I’m sure you will enjoy Raglan Road. Sometimes they have live performers, which is fun, especially if you can sit outside and relax on the patio or it’s a little bit earlier and it’s not too busy yet. Raglan Road is a good place to go to start out an evening or for a nice dinner. It’s not really a hip bar to party and get drunk in. It is across the street from the Sprint Center as well, so that might come in handy if you are going to an event there.

I’ve never eaten here, and I don’t think I’d find much on the menu to suit a vegetarian anyway. But in terms of nightlife, I think the service here is superb. Our server was really quick, even on a Saturday night and kept my Red Bull/rocks coming(I was the over-caffeinated DD for the night). There was a cover band playing that was actually really fun, and not too loud or annoying. The décor is gorgeous, but I guess that’s to be expected since this chain brought in people from Ireland to build the place. The 4th star goes to the server who didn’t get too pissed when my tipsy friend flung out her arms and knocked over a tray of drinks he was carrying – whoops! Although he was probably pissed, I was certainly cracking up.

Beautiful décor, lots of eye to detail, has a classic versus cheesy feel. I’m torn on the food, because it’s delicious, but a little more stuffy than your standard pub grub ought to be, which dents the authenticity a little, to me. Ireland may have changed some in the years since I was a student there, but it’s hard for me to imagine walking into a pub there and getting gourmet, highly stylized food offerings with exotic add-in ingredients, versus basic, hearty peasant food. I know fusion food is trendy, but it dents the feel a bit for me. Bangers and mash shouldn’t feel like high-end entrees. Again, though, if the only complaint I have is that the food is too«fancy,» it’s not exactly a damning complaint.
