Very well roasted coffee. It’s nice seeing new and passion driven businesses popping up in the West Bottoms. The coffee is incredible, no need for cream or suagr — but you have the option. It’s just straight up good coffee without the need of frill or flair, just done right from the start. Ian is such a passionate and driven individual who is always up to talk shop, whether it’s coffee or motorcycles, he’s an incredibly friendly guy. The shop itself is a small walk up with a pretty cool exterior entrance, and it’s just a walk up counter — simple and straightforward.

So glad we happened upon this cute little coffee shop today! They have a small but straightforward menu and excellent customer service. There isn’t any indoor seating but I would love to hang out here in the summertime!

I bookmarked Blip on Unilocal when I read a small blurb about them when they started up a few months ago. Found myself in the general area and voila there I was in this small out of way coffee house. I ordered a cappuccino and ran with it, but will be returning soon to take home some beans. Excellent taste and aroma, served by a very friendly guy in a neat place with cool merchandise. I see myself sporting a hip Blip tee this summer.

Coffee was great and just perfect when I needed a cup at 1:45pm. Service was excellent and the barista was incredibly friendly. The simplicity of the place surprised me but it nothing more was necessary.

Really excited to have a coffee shop in the West Bottoms — especially one that sells such great beans. Coffee is superb, and everyone is warm & friendly. Bonus — it’s on my way to work!

Stop the presses. There’s a new coffee shop in town and it’s in an area where not another is located. Most of you probably don’t even know it exists, but I’d been waiting for its opening since hearing about in on a coffee crawl a few months back. Blip Roasters now has a walk-up coffee shop for carry-out attached to their roasting facility. Stopped in today and got a world class latte in a paper cup and then stood and chatted with the barista for probably 30 minutes about what they’ve achieved. Impressive. Remember, this is not a place with tables and chair where you go to suck wireless and Joe for hours. It’s a walk up(very nicely designed, too) with house coffees and your standard fare in espresso drinks. And here’s why I go for five stars for it. First off, great little facility built in an area of town(the stockyard bottoms I call it) where great coffee simply doesn’t exist. You have to get in your car and drive up into downtown, the River Market, or the West Side area to get decent Joe. No longer. When a business sticks their neck out to bring quality product into an area of town where it doesn’t exist they have my appreciation. And even though it’s a to-go facility, it’s so cool that I already want to go back soon. Tell your Unilocal pals, tell your friends not on Unilocal.Something good just happened in the bottoms and it’s just the start of what we all know is about to happen. Oh, and the coffee? That pour was on the level of Quay, Thou Mayest, Second Best and others. It may be carry out but they aren’t screwing around. I’ll be back.

Ian knows coffee and it shows in the product. He has a nice variety of different beans and each one is delicious. The café is as awesome as the coffee. People need to know about this place, so spread the word!

Wonderfully roasted coffee, some nice Blip gear, and a very fun, laid-back environment to hang out and drink coffee in. Definitely good vibes there, and Ian is very friendly. I’m very excited to try the newly finished outdoor patio area and some espresso!

Ian will set you up with coffee. I’ve walked by here a few times, and he doesn’t charge for a cup of coffee. He’s luring you in with something amazing AND free, so be nice and buy the beans. No bothering with cream and sugar, won’t need that. This is the motorcycle coffee shop in the West Bottoms. They have a great back porch with their industrial space, with a good line of merchandise to boot! Come by on a weekend to grab a coffee before you check out the antique stores. Or, pull up on your motorbike and find some appreciation.

Blip continues to breath life into the burgeoning West Bottoms, adding in a unique, high quality, hyper local coffee presence to the area. Their packaging is simple yet effective — the owners say it has a bit of a skate-shop branding and they package the freshly roasted beans in a biodegradable bag placed inside a cardboard that helps keep the light away from it. The labels even include notes about the particular beans, e.g. direct trade, floral and fruity, etc. I discovered them on the Caffeine Crawl, and have to say, it was my favorite stop. They’ve taken over an older space and made it fit for them, equipped with a cool small roaster and just space for them to operate. Right now their coffee is available on their website, through ‘pop-up pourovers’ on First Friday weekends and soon to be through a walk-up café. The plans for the walk-up café look great, essentially like an older ice cream spot where you order from the window and then feel free to grab a spot on the patio surrounding the space. During the Caffeine Crawl, they made us their specialty, a pourover using their Guatemala beans. Amazing — it was stronger than many pourovers, full of flavor, chocolaty and well-crafted. They also had some cold brew with a partnership from Alchemy coffee in Lawrence. I’m self-admittedly not a fan of cold brew at all, so not my cup o’ coffee. I’m looking for big things from Blip because they seem experienced, honest and roast damn good beans. Matter of fact, I bought a couple to go and am enjoying them this morning. For the longest time I thought my drip coffee maker was broken because it wasn’t getting all the flavors just right, but turns out I just wasn’t putting the best coffee in it!

Expensive but local and worth the experience! They are in the process of getting the okay to attach a café to the building. Great explanation of roasts by the owner. Good job! Can’t wait to see what the future holds for this company :-)

Like the town of Brigadoon, Blip Coffee materializes out of the mists of the West Bottoms once a month on First Friday weekends, and you’d better make the most of it, because this is some seriously good coffee! Actually, you can probably find them around at other times, but these guys were set up at Nook & Cranny(I think, there are so many now), they promised another customer they’d be back in the same place next month. The two guys who were brewing were fun to talk to and very meticulous in grinding and making pour-over cups as they were ordered-no mass production here. I got the Ethiopian, which is very smooth with a little bit of a chocolatey finish. They were also doing a Brazilian they described as more floral. I walked away before I took the first sip, then went right back and bought a pound. You get a business card with their address on it when you buy a pound of their coffee, and I may be hunting them down before January, because, once again, this is some seriously good coffee!
