A colleague offered to bring me lunch from Sasha’s the other day when I was too buried to go to lunch. She goes there fairly frequently. I decided to try the seasonal salad, Soba Japonaise — Chilled Soba Noodles, Daikon, Carrot, Crum Farm Lettuce, Edamame and Sesame Peanut Dressing. I generally love anything with a sesame or peanut dressing. The dish was refreshing, cool and right for the weather. The dressing was good, but in the vinaigrette family, so it had more tang than I expected. I liked all the ingredients, but felt there should be more of them. There were literally 3 edamame in my salad. While I enjoyed the food, for $ 13+ bucks, there are certainly better lunch values to be had downtown.

Food: 5 stars Customer service: 2 stars The food was wonderful. I ordered biscuits and gravy, a chocolate croissant, and a mimosa. All totaling $ 24, but we will get there! The croissant was huge, fluffy, and perfectly sweet with plenty of chocolate. The biscuits and gravy were perfectly seasoned and you get a decent portion to which I was surprised. Mimosa was also good, however this is where the slope slips. After ordering and moving to the register, I asked the woman standing there if I could use a gift certificate to which her response was«I guess you can do that.» I thanked her, no response. Okay, awk. Moved on, sat down, realized she did something crazy with the balance on my certificate(didn’t calculate my balance, just wrote what I spent? So it looked like I only had a few dollars left instead of a few spent. Her exact words«I’ll let you do the math.» Ya following me?) I thanked my waitress when she brought me my drink and a glass of water. No response. Only person that acknowledged me after that was the chef who brought out my food.(Left a cash tip in hopes the kitchen staff would get it…) I would have purchased many mimosas and plenty more food if there had been a warm or even just polite environment. Went to use the last of my certificate on to-go pastries and the waitress had to ask the other about the weird total and her response was dry and condescending directed straight at me! Lol tell your coworker about your mistake, boo, she’s the one that doesn’t have any idea what you’ve done. Overall, it was a nice experience and I did enjoy my food but I won’t be going on my own dime. I’ve had better client service at fast food restaurants.

Stumbled upon this hidden gem and as one who lives for baked goods, I was not disappointed! Great environment, great staff and the baked goods are fabulous! The muffins are wonderfully fresh, the butterscotch oatmeal scones rocked, double chocolate cookies… oh yes and the breads are top notch! Will be back!

I really enjoyed my visit to this place and hope for the opportunity to pass through Kansas City again. It has a sunny and pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff. I had the best Eggs Benedict I’ve in a very long time. I think you will be glad you came.

Unbelievable pastries and breakfast food. I wanted to eat everything I saw. The coffee was delicious, the staff was all very friendly and it was a great place to get a couple hours of work done. The hours make it tough for me to go often but I will return as quickly as I can, this place is incredible. Update, March 2016: still incredible. This place will be one of the things I miss most when I move. Wish I could give extra stars. June 2016: the carrot cake is out of this world good

Came here for a leisurely weekend breakfast with the fiancé and our laptops. He got iced coffee and me regular. It’s solid but nothing super amazing, though they have various roasts available. Various lovely appearing pastries and macaroons — I’m not actually a huge macaroon fan so you can judge. They also have sandwiches and such available for breakfast and lunch. I got a ham and cheese croissant which was buttery, flaky, cheesy and delicious. Probably not the healthiest but hey, that’s not what I was looking for at the moment :) They also have baguettes and such available for picking up and taking home. Seating in the front and side, including long communal-type tables. Sunny, friendly, bistro-type place to relax on a weekend morning. The biggest con of this place are the hours – it’s not open Sundays, and closes at 2pm on weekdays and Saturdays. If I’m awake and not at work during their hours again, I’ll be back!

This place feels is a physical representation on pinterest. Fake rustic charm, basic paintings, and flowers everywhere. The coffee wasn’t great, but the breakfast sandwich was decent. Be warned, if you order the breakfast sandwich on a biscut, the biscut will fall apart. Not a bad place, just not the best.

Cute décor? Heck yes! Delicious frosted sugar cookie? Yep! Yep! So super delicious! 3 Stars? *took awhile to be awknowdged *one iced sugar cookie was $ 3+ *the menu did not have prices on it(that always strikes me as weird) *but the real reason for this 3.5 star review is for this reason– my fingers were stained from the green icing. Stained. Like visible proof of green icing consumption. It took a whole day to get it completely removed. Yikes!

I picked up a few of the famous macaroons from this gorgeous bakery downtown. Tucked on a quaint little street, this jewel is not to be overlooked. The macaroons were excellent! I will definitely be back to try some of their other beautiful pastries.

$ 20 for 2 inedible breakfast sandwiches. The bacon wasn’t cooked and the bread was completely soggy and greasy. The biscuit was a dry, crumbly mess. The whole reason for sandwiches was that my friend and I were in a hurry so no time to go back and complain or get something else. Luckily, I had a protein bar to share It’s a shame because I’ve had Sasha’s a couple times and the biscuit n gravy was delicious. I guess sticking to sit down meals is the way to go. My advice is stay away from the egg sandwiches, don’t hit this place if you’re in a hurry, and be prepared to fork over some cash since the prices are(inconveniently) not posted. We should have gone to McDonalds.

My grilled cheese was incredible and they couldn’t have been friendlier, but I felt like the baked goods looked better than they tasted, and the prices really are pretty outlandish. I got grilled cheese and a cup of soup, a soda and three cookies and it was over $ 30, that seemed high to me, although the Royals cookies really were pretty :)

Sasha’s has a really nice ambiance. It has maybe 4 small tables and 2 long tables that seat maybe 8 – 10. There’s also a small bar that has four seats, though I think it would really only seat 3 comfortably. You pay first and then sit wherever. It is expected that multiple groups sit at the long tables together if the other tables are taken. The staff was really helpful and kind. The food was decent, maybe a little pricey. We got a breakfast burrito, quiche, and one Americano and it came out to about $ 30. I’d go back again to try out their pastries/desserts.

Loved the place, so classy for a coffee shop and café. First time, went for a breakfast and had their Breakfast Burrito. What a good way to start a long day. Then had to go back and try their Macrons. Worth every calorie. The only downside of them is their early closing time! It would be great if they stay open longer.

A Gem in a City Setting(Un Joyau dans un Cadre de la Ville) A nice bakery/café in the heart of downtown. Great coffee, gorgeous selection of baked goods. They are going for a Nouveau France décor, and the tunes were Jazzy Blues. Had a croissant with the coffee. It was good. The acid test for a serious bakery is the quality of its croissant. I’m not going to engage in hyperbole about whether their croissants are the best in the city. I don’t have enough other experiences to speak authoritatively to the question. If I lived or worked nearby, I would be thrilled to have Sasha’s as a daily morning stop. Looks like they have a lunch menu, so don’t let the time of day stop you from dropping by. The location is ideal if you are zipping through town on the Interstate.

I have just recently been introduced to Sasha’s, I do not know how I missed this gem. I am assuming its because they are closed after 2 pm. Love the ambiance of the place, this place does get busy but the wait is worth it. Personally I like their sweet baked goods than the regular lunch or breakfast special. They have the best french macaroons in town.

I’ve been and I’m a fan. My niece works at a place downtown and said they had a breakfast catered by Sasha’s and it was yummy. I didn’t get a chance to try any of the egg breakfast dishes OR the lovely box lunches(they look cheese heavy and divine) but I did get a chance to try their cookies and the best scone I’ve eaten in my entire life. I’m a baker so I can kind of get down with good scones… there are so few out there it’s crazy but this Oatmeal Butterscotch(I don’t care if it’s a made up flavor… it’s divine) Scone was AMAZING. And it was huge. I ate pieces of it for two days… but that was with a lot of self control. Their cookies are great too, I tried 3 different cookies and the frosted sugar cookie. The blueberry oatmeal cookie is THEBEST but they are all really really good. The sugar cookie was a little sweet a little too frosted and a little too many colorful sprinkles… but I’m pretty picky about sugar cookies. Overall, the atmosphere is nice, the service wonderful and the sweets yummy. I would go back in a heartbeat. I love the location too.

Fantastic downtown gem. Sorely needed in he area. Had the artichoke quiche, good side salad cane with, flaky crust. Coffee is very good, had drip and Americano. Bread on hubby’s sandwich was good. Had a blueberry hibiscus macron. Omg, you guys… that macaron. Just as good as Mulberry & Mott’s. Just saying. All the pastries looked divine. Good service, adorable shop, highly recommend, will definitely be back.

Sasha’s is a new little baking company nestled in the heart of downtown KC. Situated next to the Milwaukee Delicatessen on a quiet corner, one could easily walk or drive by this place unknowingly. I drive by this place at least once a day on the way to the hospital, and I’ve always wanted to stop by and try a pastry. Yesterday, I said to myself, «Mark, today looks like it’s gonna be a pastry-kind-of-a-day(ie. Stressful, so let’s do some stress nomzing), so let’s get you one!» And hence, my adventure and review. The inside of the shop is quaint, with ample seating areas inside and even a little patio outside. Great plus for when the weather is nice. The dark wood and muted lighting makes it look like a relaxing place to curl up with a book or chat with buddies while having coffee. There were a pretty diverse number of offerings as far as baked nomz go: I saw macaroons, pastries of all sorts, and cookies. They also had yogurts available as well. There were huge fresh loaves do sourdough bread along the walls, too! Everything smelled great, but what immediately drew my eye was the chocolate croissant and the ham/cheese pastry. The ham and cheese pastry had such flaky and buttery crust, and once warmed, made the perfect savory breakfast! The chocolate croissant was huge and stuffed brimming with filling: none of this«we’re gonna tease you with a big of chocolate and call it a specialty croissant» stuff here! It was pouring out chocolate deliciousness when I bit into it! I also saw some freshly made cakes there that look amazing, so I most def want to come back and try. I took a star off for two reasons: the barista was a bit of a surly hipster sort of fellow, who didn’t really show much interest in taking care of my order and seemed impatient with me. I’m sorry dude, but this isn’t NYC or LA, so douchebaggery in customer service isn’t really appreciated in a town like KC that prides itself on good service. The other issue was the price: two pastries at $ 4.50 apiece is pretty steep. I can get nearly the same quality two blocks away at Cosentinos for half the price or hit up the rivermarket stores for cheaper. Thou Mayest and Quay Coffee don’t even charge that much for pastries, and they’re considered to be the fancy schmantsy hipster joints of town! Not recommended to have a «Whole Foods mentality» when it comes to pricing, when other competitors are doing it just as well for cheaper. Even still, I won’t hold these things against the place and I’d like to come back and try the food again! I also appreciate that there’s a local shop here in desolate downtown! Overall, Ambience: 5⁄5 Food: 5⁄5 Service: 3⁄5 Price: 3⁄5 Total: 4⁄5. Nice going, Sasha’s! Just work on that customer service just a wee bit and be more reasonable on prices, and you’ll be a 5 star in no time!
