Hands down, best dive bar in KC! Great service, great prices, and an overall warm and welcoming atmosphere.

I’m starting to think KCK bars are the hidden gem of the metro area. One wouldn’t think Chicago’s is anything special based on the location and the exterior, but they’d be wrong. First of all, hey have free popcorn. Automatically three bonus points for providing free snack food. Second, they have a pretty good beer selection for a small dive bar. We happened to be there the day Goose Island Bourbon County came out and they had secured two cases of it. Even better, they charged a reasonable price as opposed to what some of the bars around town were asking. The whole bar just had a super laid back feel to it and I could see myself going here on a regular basis just to hang out, watch some sportsballs, and snack on some popcorn. This is pretty much the perfect spot to unwind after work for a couple of drinks by oneself.

My favorite dive. Katrina, Keeley and Sam keep my beer from running dry. Hugh, the mongol at the end of the bar is a pretty swell guy, considering he just got out of prison.

Great bar for an option of getting away from the Power & Light vibe. Beer is cold and servers very friendly. Highly recommend for a spot to do some drinkin’

I may give this place another try but I went in shortly after they opened and took a seat between the youngsters at the bar. I was intentionally ignored by the bartender. I think it was her moment to control the red rope. After 12 minutes I left. It could have just been the one tender so I may some day try it again but at this time… naw. The Strawberry Hill area is super cool and there are great bars to visit right up the street.

They are open. Thank god I didn’t listen to Unilocal.Cold beer and friendly staff Sunday funday with Danny and Katrina. Very accommodating with TV changes and hot popcorn. Very clean interior and good selection of local beers, boulevard. When in Kansas City kansas avoid the power plant and come to Chicagos.

The epic night me and 10 of my friends entered the threshold of Chicago’s our morale was at an all time high. We were greeted by a rude bartender who abruptly changed shifts on us with a brash attitude and zero politeness. Upon trying to order a round of shots the alcoholic owner who sits at the end of the bar denied out requests and kept up the overall angry vibe of the bar. If you are interested in trying a new hole in the wall bar this is not the place unless you know the owner. This bar is not friendly to newcomers and the rude owner is the first to remind you of this.

Chicago’s was a participating bar on the Strawberry Hill pub crawl back in June. I had wanted to stop by and glad it was on the crawl list. Even with the craziness of the pub crawlers and what seemed like a birthday party in the side room the two bartenders handled everything with ease. I have been back since the crawl. The bartender working still handled everything with ease and with a smile. There is plenty of seating at the bar with some high tops on the side and the side room has more tables. There are TV’s on both seating areas. The prices are good in my cheap skate opinion. Even though a lot of regulars are here you aren’t made to feel like an outsider. It’s definitely an above average bar in KCK.

Chicago’s recently reopened under new ownership with a fresh coat of paint. It’s a relaxed bar in Strawberry Hill and offers a good line up of beer and booze, which really should be a prerequisite for any bar. The old school bar includes televisions for game watching and there also is a bigger screen in a side room. I think one of the things I like about this neighborhood bar is the mix of people you can find. There’s some definite characters. Most are friendly and there’s a good likelihood they’ll start up a conversation with you. I also have to add that if you’re wanting to do a pub crawl and maybe not in the typical locations, Strawberry Hill is a solid option!

Instead of going out downtown after Jazzoo, we decided to pretend we were in another city and go someplace we had never been. Last Friday night it was this place. Every single person in the bar was a Bishop Ward alumni… my old high school. Very much a 6 degrees of separation. It was like a pub inside and it was cute to see some pin-up art on the walls. It reminded me of a place I used to go in Chicago… is that why the name? Apparently $ 1.75 is a cheap price for a beer, I don’t do beer very often so I didn’t know. Several Miller Lights and a lemon drop shot later we felt like it was our regular stopping ground. I can’t remember the last time I chatted up so many strangers… very friendly place and a great end to my night!
