Not much to say, uninviting atmosphere coupled with really bland greasy food. Will not be heading back there even though I live right across the park from them.

Not sure why I only gave 3 stars in my earlier review. Definitely 4 stars.

Love this place! Best Mexican breakfast in town and they serve it all day. Try the chorizo with onions and chipotle. Excellent micheladas– the guy told us all about how he makes his sauce for them. The service was friendly and outstanding– our server(who was also the cook) was sooooooo sweet, I just loved him! The chips and the soft tortillas that came with our meals were hot and delicious. Reasonably priced. Will definitely be back.

My daughter took me to lunch here. Mexican food is my favorite, and this place did not disappoint. My daughter had the pork tacos and I had the chicken. They arrived very hot. We actually had to wait a moment to let them cool down. Really good flavor, loved the fresh cilantro. Refried beans were tasty. The staff was very friendly and the food arrived quickly. Told my daughter I would like to have this our go to place, every time I come into Kansas City, which is going to be quite often:)

The Waldo area is seriously lacking Mexican food. Paparico’s fills that void quite well. I tried a platter that gave me a few different options and was quite pleased with each. The fish taco was a favorite. It didn’t have the cabbage that one expects with a fish taco, but standard taco dressing. It was also not battered and fried. Although I have nothing against battered and fried, this is a huge plus for me. The pastor taco was simple like a street taco. Great flavor. The tamale was good, could have used a bit more flavor. Beans and rice are standard, nothing to get excited about there. I had a margarita which was good. Good blend of tequilla and mix. Service is fantastic! The owner is super friendly, but not overbearing. He really cares about the business and his customers.

This is the second time I have been here and I love it. The people are nice and the portions are very generous and flavorful. I had enchiladas that were very tasty with beans and rice. The guacamole was very good too. The location is convenient right on Wornall Road.

This place is amazing! The owner is super nice, and more than that-the food is SO good! They’re one of, if not the only place I’ve found in kc that can make chilaquiles just like in Mexico. Beware the hot sauce-they’re not messing around!

I felt at home as soon as I entered. We were served quickly. My margarita was perfect. Our food came quickly. Which is always awesome. We also put in a order for tacos to go. They were so awesome they waited till we were ready to leave to cook them so they would be fresh. Not to mention we love supporting family owned business’s. We will definitely be back soon.

Like a few people have mentioned the place is questionable from the outside but once you get inside it is great. Had dinner here with my wife because we had a Living Social coupon. First let me start with saying the waitress was really nice, as was all the staff who we saw/met. They gave us chips and salsa when we sat down. Chips were great, but the salsa wasn’t very good. Very tomato and very mild. I asked our waitress if they had hot salsa, she said yes and got me some(just ask). This is where it’s at!!! Was great, very good hot flavor, my wife and I mixed it with the mild table salsa and was phenomenal. We ordered beer, they have the typical Mexican Beers and some domestics as well. Reasonably priced for any restaurant. We ordered, food came rather quickly but that’s to be expected since the place was empty. I had the Salsa Verde Pork Carnitas(pictured) and my wife had chicken, spinach and mushroom enchiladas. The main dish was decent to good. nothing to write home about. Very simply pork and salsa wrapped in a tortilla with white cheese on top. My wife enjoyed her enchiladas as well. I’m not much for beans but I think they were very bland, my wife said they were good. We both were extremely disappointed with the rice. Plain it was extremely bland, we both ended up mixing it with cheese and salsa to give it a little something. With so many choices for Mexican restaurants in Kansas City I probably wouldn’t return back to Paparico’s but I do recommend at least trying it once. Like I had mentioned everyone was really nice and the food was okay. Unfortunately there is just better out there.

I came here because they have Coronaritas… and I will continue to come here because of the Coronaritas. I dont know much about Mexican food. Its reeeeallly not my favorite, Tex-mex anyway. However, I cleaned my plate(all this means is I was just real hungry) and almost forgot to order dessert. I did get some churros though and you are in control of your honey/chocolate squeeze ratio. Usual cheese topped beany schmear with some lightly seasoned ricey stuff. Pastor and barbacoa were reasonably priced lunch specials. Meat, cheese, vegetable, tortilla: Gaffigan. Nice people. Love being thanked when you are leaving a place.

Just an average place. I was expecting something more from the reviews. The chips were cold and my wife ordered a Margarita and I ordered a vodka and coke. The drinks were way more expensive than your normal bar. I felt like they were rushing to get us out and I found out they were closing the restaurant at 7pm for a private party. I think I’d choose other places to eat before going back.

A little taste of American/Mexican in my neighborhood! The food is pretty good, I would agree not authentic, but not always covered in a ton of cheese sauce(unless you want it) either. We eat breakfast, lunch and dinner here. You can tell this is a family owned restaurant and they work to give you the best possible service. We love to bring groups here to start out a pub crawl and this is my new St. Pat’s Day starting point. They have good beergaritas and I love that I can get Mexican sodas. The only issue I’ve ever had were eggs not cooked quite enough for me and when I sent them back the owner brought out the newly cooked eggs apologized and made sure everything was right. But one issue out of at least 40 times being here — not bad, not bad at all.

Papa Rico’s is absolutely my favorite place to have breakfast! On our first visit we had just returned from Cozumel and wanted a breakfast like we had on the beach. Did not see the item on the menu and Ishmael asked if we could describe it, he recreated the breakfast better than we had on vacation! Been going back ever since that breakfast and really love everything about the place. The food is fantastic, the owners Ishmael and Pearl are very caring people. They will do everything in their power to make sure you have a great experience with them. If you go for dinner, you must try Pearl’s special: Perla del Mar. You won’t regret it, but if that is not your style of food, the fajitas are some of the best we have had, and the verde sauce is incredible on pork or chicken. Give it a try, no matter what part of the city you are coming from– it’s worth the drive! Laura G

Went here based on positive Unilocal reviews and was extremely disappointed. Absolutely everything was bland; salsa, beans, rice, and sour cream enchiladas. How can anyone stomach this? I should note that I am Mexican and I know what good authentic food tastes like. There are better reasonably priced Mexican joints to eat at. However I have to add that the service was great! If only the food could match :(

I tried to go here a few nights ago but left after one of the waitresses said she had to take our order again. Ok… why? After 30 minutes of waiting for our two burritos the kitchen couldn’t find the order. We left but weren’t deterred and tried again. I’m not sure if having a Groupon has made the service ridiculously slow and scattered or if it is normal. But it really isn’t acceptable. I think they know they’re slow because you keep getting bowl after bowl of chips and salsa. All the tables around me declined extra chips and asked when they would get their food. This time the food arrived. Have you had a steak burrito which tastes like the chef from Benihana made it? If you’re curious to try one, go to Paparico’s. I’m not joking about the grilled steak burrito. It looks like a burrito but the steak, peppers and onions have a very Asian flavor. It was extremely odd to have that with salsa. I can’t wait to try the leftovers to see what flavors will have developed. WIth all the great Unilocal reviews I thought it would have been a better experience. I won’t go back to Paparicos, not even for a Groupon. The service is too scattered for me and the food doesn’t make up for it.

This place is a little dirty and rough around the edges, we stopped in for breakfast & it was really yummy. I had a chorizo burrito, mom had Mexican breakfast with bacon. I never eat breakfast potatoes but these were so good and the refried beans were too. it’s nice to have a tortilla that’s not just warmed in the microwave. I wish I would’ve had leftovers to bring home, what I ate it all!

Paparico’s has the best Chili Verde Colorado that I’ve had in Kansas City. I always look forward to traveling to Denver so that I can get a green chili burrito and although Paparico’s version is not quite as good as Denver can offer, it is still pretty tasty… and pretty spicy! The burritos are huge, I could only finish about 70% before I had to throw in the towel. I saw a few tables that had carne asada street-style tacos and they looked pretty tasty, maybe I will try on my next visit. I am looking forward to returning for a breakfast burrito topped with Chili Colorado. If it is really good, I can stop making up reasons to go on business trips to Denver!

Carnitas in a mild red chile sauce? Nice! A Chile relleno stuffed with a TON of delicious cheese? Super! I am a certified cheese slut [got my card last week from the Dairy Council lol]. The side items were just okay, but the use of real, fresh guacamole is a big plus. I did take out so I can’t speak for the service. This is a cozy little place though… so don’t hesitate to dine-in! I must try the breakfast here… I love eggs and chili together, and they have a few selections to try.

We had good food and a good experience here. Here’s the rundown: Salsa: good Chips: fresh, delicious, thick and not greasy(thus far, they’re my favorite chips in KC) Beans: good Chicken: Delicious! No gristle! The spinach, chicken, & mushroom burrito was so delicious. It’s one of my favorite things I’ve had at a Mexican place like this. The chicken fajitas were good, lots of onions but they skimped on the other stuff. The mushroom gravy was interesting, part mole, part red sauce with a kick of heat. Not my style but different. The owner was attentive and involved. Definitely worth trying and repeating!
