Staff was extremely nice and welcoming. Unfortunately, the food was just, «eh.» Worst part– crust was not fully cooked.

They’re trying. Pizzeria Locale really is. Unfortunately, trying doesn’t count for much when if you’re trying to live up to the Italian cultural institution that is Pizza Napoli. So, first thing is the crust. Yes, they cook it on in a wood-fired pizza oven. And yes, you have the«leopard spots» found on such pizza(**for all those complaining about this – your pizza is not«burned»! They are supposed to be there! This is how Italian pizza is served!**) The crust is chewier than others, but not quite as soft and pillowy as on my favorite pizzas in Italy. Okay, next is toppings. I ordered the Crudo, which has the same toppings of one my favorite pizzas in Florence, at Gustapizza. The tomato sauce is nice – sweet and great tomato flavor. However, the mozzarella is hardly there and could hardly be tasted. The prosciutto was okay – definitely not prosciutto di parma. Tasted like and had the texture of an okay American prosciutto – hammy and a little tough. What disappointed me the most was the arugula – it was not peppery at all. Just tasted like wilted lettuce. Service was nice. The workers explained the ordering system and were very nice about talking about the pizzas to those who had questions. I enjoyed watching my pizza being made right in front of me, too. In the end, Pizzeria Locale is a nice pizza alternative here in Kansas City. No, it isn’t true Italian pizza, but their pizza isn’t too bad. Plus, I bet the other, more regularly ordered pizzas are better than the one I got. So go ahead, check out Pizzeria Locale – but just get pepperoni or sausage on your pizza pie.

Great Neapolitan Pizza, hot, fast, handmade, with fresh ingredients. The staff is friendly and helpful. They make you feel at home. Red or white pizza, your choice, your way. Tasty!

I stopped by because I was in the area and heard good things about this place. I ordered a pizza and a salad to-go and while I was waiting for my pizza, a staff member came out and told me that my pizza wasn’t to their standards so they were remaking it. They gave me a free pizza voucher for next time, gave me a new pizza, and also gave me the«mistake» pizza to take home. The mistake pizza wasn’t perfectly round, which is why it wasn’t to their standards. The manager directed the staff member what to do to avoid that«mistake» happening in the future. I was very impressed with their level of customer service! I will be back! The pizza was super tasty too!

Just found my new pizza spot in KC. Pizza was like a super quick, fresh ingredient marriage between Sbarro and whole foods pizza. Great prices, around $ 5-$ 7 a pizza, buy one get one beers during happy hour was a bonus too. We got the meatballs, two quality beers and 3 pizzas for about $ 30. 10⁄10 for the vibe, cleanliness and attentiveness from the employees. Side note — one of the waiters, eric I believe, checked up on us and offered a free pizza card since it was our first time coming it, that was pretty rad!

Finally had the opportunity to visit the Chipotle entrant into the pizza domain. It wasn’t too bad. Firstly, if you’ve ever been to a Chipotle, you know what to expect when it comes to décor and ambiance of the restaurant. Polished concrete floors, hipster music, hipster art. It works, but what I was here for was the food. We noticed that the menu wasn’t overly extensive. They have some pretty good menu items and a build-your-own pizza, but for the expense, it is probably more worth it to get a menu item. $ 2 a topping for build-your-own certainly makes people shy away from it. I got a pepperoni and my wife got a Mias pizza, add mushrooms. Very tasty and quality ingredients. The style is New York pizza, with a thin bottom crust and thick end crust that practically requires you to fold it to eat a slice. I know New York style doesn’t appeal to everyone, but I love pizza, all styles. It was pretty good. All in all, a solid effort for good pizza.

Awesome place. Very inexpensive with fresh quality food. Friendly service. Also get a sample of those meatballs ****Fantastic****. I got the caprese salad and the garlic bread with a garlicky spread to die for. My new home.

Really enjoyed the open fire oven roasted pizza here. We ordered the Diabola, Hawaiian, Cheese, and Caprese, with an Antica salad. Not being wood roasted, and limited additional toppings keeps this from being a 5. If you’re looking for a nice lunch spot, or lunch date I would recommend. Plan on $ 10 – 15 per person.

I’ve been here three times and each time was fantastic! Everything is prepared fresh by a very friendly staff in an extremely clean space. The crust is chewy and thick and airy and perfectly charred with a light touch of cheese and a light touch of toppings. If you are looking for heavy toppings and cheese you shouldn’t be eating Neapolitan style pizza. My only complaint is the limited seating. It is just such a small space. But the pizza more than makes up for it. Decent selection of bottled beers too! I will definitely be back!

Located next to Chipotle on 75th Street, Pizzeria Locale offers up some tasty pizza. As many of you might now, this is a new offering from the people who brought you Chipotle, And works in a similar way. You can pick one of their pre-designed pizzas, or you can go down the assembly line and create your own. Creating your own can add up pretty quickly since the cheapest add-ons are $ 1 and meats are $ 2 on top of the base price. Once you place your order you can grab a seat and wait for your pizza to cook, and it’s brought to you. I went for one of their pre-designed white pizzas with broccoli, and while it was tasty and I liked their dough, it was pretty thin(but not crunchy), and I was actually not very full after eating one of their personal-size pizzas. The staff was very friendly and attentive, it almost felt like table service with one of the girls coming by a few times to see how everything came out. The location is a bit small, but there wasn’t that many people, it could be a bit of a crammed if it’s busy. Also, the parking lot they share with Chipotle was full, and finding street parking, specially during lunch time can be a hassle. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the mood for pizza.

It’s a good thing I don’t live in Waldo because I would be eating here every week! The interior is great and doesn’t feel too fast-foody. There were a lot of people dining in. The service is fantastic. There are about 8 people, each working a different station, making this the most efficient«quick pizza» in town. It was much quicker than either Pie 5 or Topp’d. The employees were all nice and helpful — again, more so than other fast food restaurants. The reviews that say the pizza is «too thin,» with«not enough toppings,» or «burnt» have obviously never had real Italian pizza before. This is classic Napolitano pizza with simple, natural ingredients. I was excited when Il Lazarone opened in the river market, but after a $ 30 bill for one person I decided I wouldn’t be returning. The pizzas at Pizzeria Locale are just as good as Il Lazarone, but they are a third of the price! $ 5-$ 8 instead of $ 15-$ 20. For under $ 18 I went home with two pizzas, a large arugula salad, a side of meatballs, and a dessert. The salads are perfect for two people to share. The pork meatballs in red sauce are delicious! A great appetizer for 2 – 4 or even a light meal for one. It’s served with a big slice of pizza crust. The dessert is mini-sized and a nice sweet treat to end the meal. I will definitely be back and recommend it to others.

I am a huge Chipotle fan, so when I heard the owners were opening up a pizza joint in KC, I couldn’t wait to try it. However, I left sorely disappointed, and I don’t plan on going back. The pizzas range from $ 7 – 10, since they are personal size. To create your own, it costs $ 4 – 5 for the crust /sauce, then it costs $ 2 per neat /cheese topping and $ 1 per vegetable topping. So to build your own would almost cost double the price than the«pre-built» options. I chose a pre-built pizza and so did my friend. There was very little cheese and toppings on the pizza. When I got it, it was burnt. I love thin crust pizza, but this was way too thin. After I ate the pizza, I was very tempted to go next door to Chipotle and order a burrito, because the pizza was not filling and not very good. Come on guys, you can do better. Up your game!

Chipotle, you guys are doing it right! Why did I mention Chipotle you say? Well because this delicious franchise decided to start a Pizza chain and guess where they opened one?!? Yep, KC! Located in the Waldo area of KC right next to… Chipotle! Pizzeria has a similar concept to that of Chipotle where you build your own pizza. I’ve been here twice so far and if it weren’t so far away from me I’d dine here on the daily(please come to Liberty, MO!!). Anywho, Pizzeria Locale has an array of Classic pizzas to select from and as I mentioned earlier, a build your own personal pizza that is 11in. in diameter. They also have an option for salads if you want to go the healthy route. I’ve had the Diavola(red sauce base pizza and a favorite) and the Mais(white sauce base and another favorite). I loved both! They are bursting with fresh local flavors! I like the fact that they are thin crust and you COULD finish one by yourself, I had to share mine. So you’re getting a bang for your buck! Pizzeria Locale also offers alcoholic beverages beers, and can you say wine on tap?! So if you’re in the mood for some cheap, quick, yet fresh and delicious pizza… check out Pizzeria Locale by Chipotle.

It is a nice place, if you are starving and have a craving for pizza. They can fix up your order in no time, so there is no minimum waiting time which i may say is approx. 10 – 15 mins. The pizza was nice but i did find the crust to be a little dry. Though there was olive oil to drizzle. Decent sitting with a few tables and bar stools. Though I really like this concept but this wasn’t the first time i saw it. I have been to a pizza place last year which had the same concept in Daytona, Florida. And their pizza tasted much better.

I am a huge fan of Neapolitan-style pizza, so Pizzeria Locale is a wonderful addition to Waldo/KC in my opinion. A girlfriend was in town visiting, and we were eager to try PL since we would normally frequent a similar place in Minneapolis. The staff were friendly and explained the process and restaurant background to us. My margherita pizza and pizzeria salad were great — awesome value for the price. I will absolutely be back, and this time am going to build my own!

Pretty darn good pizza. Topped correctly(i.e. Not too much) and excellent crust. I had one with anchovies, capers and green olives to get my salt fix. ;-) The concept here is by Chipotle… so expect the same vibe as what you get next door.

I’ve been twice since they opened, am very quickly a huge fan! They have a gluten free option! The GF crust is good and the same size as the regular crust. I just ask for it to be little crispier and to spend just a little longer in the oven. They have really awesome pizza topping combinations or you can build-your-own. I love that you can pretty much walk-in, order, and get a pizza within minutes of sitting down. Their meatballs and salads are very good too. Plus they have my favorite cold brew coffee(Alchemy) in individual bottles!

New concept for a pizza place and we loved it! The staff was welcoming and walked us through the simple«Chipotle» concept, but for pizza. The ingredients are extremely fresh! Loved the salad! I will say one comment on the pizza, was it was bland. We had the Diavola«spicy» one, and it wasnt –at all. There was barely any sauce, but the dough was awesome! Looking forward to going back and trying new things — maybe with sauce on the side!

I love pizza. I love Chipotle. But I was kinda upset about the Pizza Locale. While the ingredients are very unique(…I didn’t know what pastrami was until I went here, oops) and healthy, I felt like I was chewing on soft cardboard with tomato sauce and bitter green stuff(arugula, of course). I had the Crudo pizza and I was not too thrilled about it. I really think it was just missing some thickness(they spin it so the thickness of the dough, excluding the crust, is like less than half a centimeter – at least make it a whole centimeter) and well, just one more layer of SOMETHING. An extra layer of pastrami? Half of a Chipotle burrito bowl??? They also cut the pizza into four huge pieces, so I was just eating my 3 other pieces like a taco. Furthermore, the place is a bit small, so it’s better to order your pizza to-go. Very modern, very friendly staff… but if I had to choose between Pizza Locale and Pie 5, I’d definitely go for the latter.

I knew going into this place that is was owned and operated by Chipotle so I wasn’t thrown off by the same font on the menu boards or the same set up at the drink/silverware station. It’s sparsely furnished and very industrial and quite small. There were only a handful of tables and a couple places for bar(read: side by side) seating. I am a huge fan of Pie 5 in Westport so I had some trepidation. There are definitely fewer ingredients at this restaurant to choose from but that’s okay, they were obviously of a very high quality. I was told at the counter that if I made my own pizza, I should keep it to 5 or less anyway since it’s a Neopolitan-style pizza with thin, chewy crust. They have a menu of specific pizzas you could choose from as well if you weren’t so adventurous. The pizzas are 12′ and priced right so it’s a perfect lunch destination. The place wasn’t very busy at noon on a Tuesday but maybe that’s just because it’s only been open 7 days. The workers were incredibly cheery and made a very fine pizza very quickly. I liked the oven baked pizza taste and it really didn’t take too long. I got the Diablo which was very yummy and my boyfriend got the Mais(corn on pizza, now you KNOW this is owned by Chipotle). They had sides and salads and dessert and beer. Over-all, It was a good experience. I probably won’t make the trip from downtown to Waldo specifically for this place, but if I’m in the area, I’ll make a point to try it again.

Initially I tried to do a call in order for my pizza since I thought it would be crowded. I arrived at Pizzeria Locale and they told me that they don’t take call in orders. Lol! Luckily the wait wasn’t long at all! There wasn’t anyone in line either. The employees were extremely friendly and I really hope their enthusiasm lasts. As for my pizza, it was freaking awesome! Such great quality for the low low. I got the Crudo, which is just prosciutto and arugula with red sauce. Mmmmm I cannot wait to go back! Everything about the pizza was perfect. Stop by when you get a chance! It’s worth it!

Had lunch here on their second day from opening. Husband and I both decided on the veggie pizza on their regular crust. I also opted to have the pork meatballs as a side; he had the Antica salad. Yes, I also opted to try the Budino for dessert. The veggie pizza was tasty(green olives!). I really enjoy my pizza not drowning in cheese, allowing me to taste all the other ingredients — and this fit the bill. The pork meatballs were served in their marinara sauce, and truly are bite-sized. I enjoyed them as well. Dessert was also just the right portion: small enough to be enjoyed as that«little something sweet to top off a meal,» but didn’t weigh you down the rest of the afternoon. They have numerous beers and a couple of wine option on tap; did not try those this time. Glad to have this option in our neighborhood, and we will be back. Not a lot of seating indoors(sign in dining room states 30-person maximum capacity). Try to get there off-peak hours, or take it to go. They do have outdoor seating in the back(three picnic tables with umbrellas), which may be more enjoyable when the temperatures aren’t soaring into the 90s.

When I think of the best way to briefly describe Pizzeria Locale, I think Rocky 2. While not the best quick service pizza in town(Topp’d) it is a decent contender. I tried two different styles. A white pizza and a red pizza. I figures I needed to try something traditional for an accurate comparison and their pepperoni is really good. The tomato sauce is the star. Full of flavor. The pizza is covered with thinly sliced pepperoni that is delicious and just the perfect amount. The white pizza I chose was the Mais, pronounced differently by each worker. This pizza is really good, but lacking on the toppings. The corn is sweet and the ham salty, but most bites don’t have both going on together. The crust is a thicker, more chewy crust. Baked in a stone oven there is a little char which isn’t my cup of tea, but not enough to make me dislike the pizza. They have a gluten free option for another $ 4. Prices are comparable to other quick service pizza places. Services was super friendly, everyone acknowledges as is the norm at a grand opening. The place wasn’t super busy when I stopped and the line moved well, although a little confusion as to where you actually order. The pizza is about 12ish inches making it a good meal or more. There is not a large amount of ingredients to choose from or gourmet/nontraditional options like other places, but there is enough variety to make this a nice stop. I would probably recommend this as being more of a to go place as it is small and seating will go quick. Beer and wine is available. Probably the beat thing is they are close to me. A good quick pizza a few minutes away. Not being a huge pizza fan and the limited varity would probably make me drive a little further when I do have that occasional craving.
