Paul’s definitely has the«ma and pop» drive-thru atmosphere, and lives up to that vibe. Their food is typical drive-thru fare that, while probably not any healthier, puts the more commercialized fast food places to shame. It’s not fine dining, but when you’re craving good tater tots, fried mushrooms, or burgers, it will more than feed your need for good greasy food.

Paul’s has always been the go to burger joint in my life. Sure the burgers are flat but the taste makes up for it. The secret sauce is ok, better then that thousand island stuff in your Big Macs. You do have to be patient when they hire a local highschooler to be the cashier once in a while, but that is the tradition of Paul’s. I can’t count the number of people I knew that have worked for them. The best part will always e the soft serve. From shakes to floats and big zebra cones, you can never go wrong. One of the few places that still makes a decent malt and you can get it extra large(not recommended unless you really like malts) So if you are new to the area and feel like having a decent burger stop, check out Paul’s, and order a #4 with fries and a root beer float… you wot regret it.

Food is sooooo great. They always get the order right except the employees are not friendly at all. Rude almost. Other than that it’s great each time we come.

If greasy food is your thing, you’ll love this place! The deal on Unilocal was a nice attempt. Kudos to them for having maintained their following as a local burger joint.

Stopped in this spot looking for a good greasy spoon. The woman that took our order at the counter must not have been having a great day; wasn’t rude necessarily, but certainly not very pleasant either. Food was good. I had the bacon cheeseburger and it was tasty. Love the thinner burgers. Tots were hot and delicious. Boyfriend had the double cheeseburger, and was very happy with it. Definitely get a lot of food for the price. Grabbed a large chocolate cone before we left and it was huge! We will probably be back…

I love Pauls, from the sketchy area to the traffic on the busy street. Pauls is still worth all the hassle, great food and awesome ice cream.

Awesome greasy, large cheesburgers and fried mushrooms! Way better than fastfood chains, but still just as quick.

Paul’s is a great place to stop for a burger and onion rings. It is really nothing fancy — but the food is great! The ice is crushed and, for me, that puts it over the top. Give it a try!

I have always been a fan of diner style food, and I enjoyed this place! I live like 2 seconds away from this joint and oh man, I am going to get fat. I got the tenderloin meal with tator tots. When receiving the brown paper bag, I got excited because you know it’s going to be good when grease is seeping through it!(Gross I know) Let me tell you, that tenderloin is good! Perfectly cooked and flavorful. The fact that it was paired with hot and fresh tator tots made my inner fat kid go wild. I will be returning to this place. Maybe next time I will get some ice cream!

I’ve been coming here for many many years, but since I moved away from the city I only get here from time to time. I/we came here for ice cream cones for Mother’s day dessert, all 4 of us ordered swirl cones, 1 small, 2 mediums and a large the total for the 4 cones was just a little over 8 dollars. I ordered the large cone, let me tell you what about this large cone the ice cream not including the cone was fairly tall, it was bigger than the passenger headrest of a Chevy suburban basically 8 to 9 inches of delicious ice cream. Everyone enjoyed their ice cream and just like we have been for many year’s, we will continue to keep coming here for the delicious food and ice cream.

Read the Unilocal reviews and payed a visit to Paul’s Drive In. Not too shabby. When we walked in, the entry way had recently been cleaned and reeked of bleach, but what do expect when they are cleaning? Anyway, I got a bacon cheeseburger with tater tots and the fiancée got a double cheeseburger and tater tots. The tater tots are great! Crunchy on the outside and soft inside. The burgers were really good. Mine was a bit smaller in size than my fiancée’s. I did want more. When we went inside, there wasn’t many people visiting, so we got our food quickly. Not sure what it’s like when it’s busy. We will come back.

While this place may not have the healthiest food out there, it’s a staple that we crave. I can’t get enough of their peanut butter and chocolate shake… you can actually taste the peanut butter! Don’t judge this place by the outside… you just have to dive in! Oh, and how could I forget the cheese! When you get a cheeseburger, don’t worry about having some lame piece of cheese cooling sitting on your burger. No, no… you’ll get a juicy, melt in your mouthful of YUM. Just make sure to get extra napkins!

Paul’s is located somewhat near my work, in a part of town where there aren’t a ton of options for grabbing a very quick lunch and getting back to work on time. Occasionally, someone will volunteer to to pick up carryout for all of us, and those are glorious days that we choose Paul’s. I may be the only person to review Paul’s Drive in having never once set foot in the place(though from the outside, it looks kitschily throwbacky, except that it ain’t kitsch, it’s the real deal… it just IS the type of place that hasn’t likely been updated since 1979(optimistically). But I don’t need to darken Paul’s doorstep to tell you that if you want a classic, greasy diner cheeseburger, meaty on a soft, tasty bun, this is the real deal. Sure, you can grab fast food burgers in this semi-shady, vaguely wrong-side-of-the-tracksish part of town, but they can’t compete. Also make sure you end up with a greasy paper bag full of onion rings, tater tots, or both. Glorious. It is old school, and it is yummy.

Out with the PooPoo who loves burgers, and more so, greasy dive burgers(I just love this kid!) so we decided to try the much talked about Paul’s. Just about everything was wrong with our visit. The lady who took our order was training. The girl helping her was just rude and mean. She talked down to the lady training when correcting her on how to write the tickets. I truly felt bad for the lady who was training and it made me not want to ask more questions or order more because I didn’t want her barked at anymore. We ordered the Big Boy burgers. We were told they came with lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, cheese, condiments. We each made a request to have it changed from the original make up. When we got our burgers they didn’t have lettuce or tomato on them. I took them back up and explained the error to the lady in training. After explaining it, the mean girl came over and rudely asked me what was wrong with them, making me feel like it was my issue. After explaining again, she acknowledged they were wrong, but seemed bothered that I brought it up, and went to the back to get new burgers saying, they must not be able to read. At this point I was thinking that they probably didn’t give a sh*t having to work with someone like her. She seemed to be some sort of tyrannical shift manager. We finally get our order right and it is just ok. The burgers are big, but really thin. They are not juicy nor greasy, just a super flat overcooked dry burger. We each got fries and they are the same fries that Long John Silvers serve. They have that coating on them that just gives them a off taste for fries. When we were leaving we got refills. The Godzilla chick was outside somewhere and we jokingly asked the guy getting our refills if the mean girl left for the evening. We felt bad for him because he looked around at the two girls still there and was genuinely confused as to who we were talking about. He commented back that it could be any of them. Not sure if he was joking or not, but we just wanted to save him! He was the only bright part of our visit! There was absolutely nothing about our experience that would make me return here. The PooPoo agreed and we were both disappointed we just didn’t drive up to Teresa’s for some awesome dive drive in burgers and great service! I like the old sign. I love when I find awesome old signs like Paul’s. I wish this style would come back and dot our city streets again!

I freakin love places like this. Big Boy’s, you’ve met your match! Paul’s is about 20 – 25 minutes from my house. So it’s probably not a place I’ll visit unless I’m in the area. But I loved it. I had a cheeseburger plain, onion rings, and iced tea. The onion rings were exactly like Big Boys and Hy-Boys, exactly. They even taste the same. They had crusties in the bottom of the bag, and were excellent. The cheeseburger was huge, and over sized. I couldn’t eat the complete sandwich. The shakes looked fantastic but my allergies were bugging me so I didn’t order one. It reminds me of malt shop. Malt shops are really good, and Paul’s knows how to keep it good. Only thing is, it’s pretty far from my house, but I’m so glad I finally found it. It will be on my list of favorites, that’s for sure.

First of all, I’d like to say that Im glad that I DIDNT read any reviews before I visited Paul’s. I would be SO let down right now. As it stands, I am only indifferent toward this place and have no desire to return. The service was great and the food was summed up best in the other review with a one star rating(see Kelly L.‘s review). I had the tenderloin samich and was completely underwhelmed by it. it was served in a paper pouch inside a paper sac. When I took hold to the sandwich, its toppings promptly slid off of it and ended up in the pouch. Strike one. I took a look at the tenderloin and well… Strike two. I thought about the seven dollars I paid for a tenderloin sandwich and a Pepsi. Strike three. I would have been much more satisfied going across the street to BK and spending seven bucks. Side note: If you want a REAL tenderloin sandwich. I would definitely recommend visiting a nice mom and pops place that hasn’t left its soul on the side of the road for dead. I would suggest the Daily Limit’s «as big as the plate so dont bother ordering fries with it, tenderloin sandwich», but thats just me. I’m crazy like that.

When a place is so good that a train engineer stops his locomotive on the mainline and walks in to get a double cheeseburger, you know you’ve got something special going on. That’s what happens at Pauls. With the Kansas City Southern mainline running right behind the restaurant engineers literally stop the train, get off and grab lunch to go. You’ll also see KCPD and KCFD vehicles in the lot too. Why? Good old fashioned hamburgers. A double cheeseburger, with lettuce and tomato, real onion rings, and a strawberry shake can really hit the spot. Insider Tip 1: They accept«Hi-Boy» 2 for 1 coupons. Yep, 2 double cheeseburgers for the price of 1. These are not«clean» hamburgers. You go through the driveup, the brown paper bag you get will have grease spots on it. If you have cardiac issues this is not the place for you. But if you’re craving something that’s not a whopper(which is down the street and sucks), and you want onion rings that don’t taste like they’re Sysco’s pre-packaged crap stop here. I’ve been coming here for over 30 years. It is consistently good food. Insider Tip 2: There’s differences between a Big Boy and a Double Cheeseburger as far as what comes on it. If the menu confuses you it’s simple to fix. Tell them what you want and they will hook you up without attitude or fuss. You want extra pickle, ask. Hate lettuce? They’ll go light on it or none at all. Ask and they make it so. One other note: They don’t serve Breakfast and they close inside seating by 9 pm. Paul’s is located just South of I-470 at Blue Ridge Blvd. You can hop off I-470, swing through the drive-thru and if it’s not busy you’ll be back on I-470 in 10 min. Edit: Bumping to 5 Stars. Pauls has earned it with years of good food and they still know how to make a great Double Cheeseburger!
