The shop has a different specialty sandwich everyday of the week they have a set menu of a double cheeseburger a cheesesteak, Banh MI and falafel. All are unique and made with fresh ingredients. Monday cuban is a treat. The Torte de Langua was a great surprise. Get there early for the daily special sells out fast.

I would give this place easily 4⁄5 stars. It’s located a bit off the beaten path, in a very industrialized part of Kansas City. It also happens to be attached to one of the best butcher shops in town. When we rolled up there was at least 15 people waiting around in the cold for their orders to be ready. The menu: pretty basic, at first glance. There were only about 5 sandwiches being offered. I had the sandwich that apparently is the namesake of the establishment, the Pigwich. It was absolutely delicious. I’ll attach the menu so you can see for yourself. If you are looking for a good burger or pork kind of sandwich, come check this place out.

How have I not reviewed Pigwich yet? I have loved their sandwiches, and meats since they opened about 4 years ago. One word to describe their sandwiches, Heaven! We have had their Cheese-steak(#1 in KC imo), Bbq Brisket w/fried onions, homemade pickles, locally made bread, & some of the best Bbq sauce in KC! Don’t forget about their house made chips, they stand on their own! I don’t eat pork, so I can’t comment on that, but the hubby has had some amazing breakfast sausages, and bacon from them.

Full disclosure: I will always give preferential treatment to locally owned businesses. And these guys make my decision to go local ever so easy. I had the Philly cheesesteak a few hours ago and I am still thinking about it. From the bun to the meat it is all perfect. Even the homemade chips that have been setting outside for however long were tasty. The staff is über cool and get this — they called me «brother.» We are all brethren, aren’t we? On a cold damp day we brought our fare into the butcher shop and kept warm with the rest of the local diners. For $ 8 it was well worth the trip:)

This is my second visit to Pigwhich and I am totally blown away by the quality of the food! My first visit I ordered a Pork Meatball Bahn Mí and although it was somewhat expensive it absolutely delighted my tastebuds! I did not think I would find a Bahn Mí as good as they make them in SF but I was incorrect; I have found Pigwhich! On my second visit, a friend and I ordered three different items. They were: The Philly Cheese Steak, The Double Cheeseburger, and another Bahn Mí! It is hard for me to give a 5⁄5 but considering the fact that every item I have tasted here has been way above my expectations… it was easy! The Philly is quite possibly the best I have eaten in all of Kansas City! Regarding the Cheeseburger, I know it may be expensive but, it is SO worth it! Again, perhaps the best burger I have had in KC! Don’t forget about the potato chip either; they are homemade and scrumptious! The service has been a 5⁄5 also! The guys that work the counter have always been extremely friendly and are knowledgable and willing to explain in detail all of the items on the menu! Keep in mind that the menu changes almost daily, and there are still several items that I have yet to try but I will be back soon to try them; in particular, the falafel sandwich and the meatloaf sandwich! Keep up the good work Pigwich and Westside Local!!!

Pigwich is a true KC gem. An offshoot of the Local Pig butcher shop, Pigwich has damn good sandwiches and excellent kettle chips. My usual go-to is the cheesesteak but they seem to have a rotation of specials that always sounds equally as appetizing. Their location in the East Bottoms seemed a little off the beaten path to me when I first moved to the area, but after a couple trips here, it seems like Pigwich and the Local Pig are part of a bigger effort to bring some vitality to the area. Reaally love the food and general vibe from Pigwich and am making them part of my rotation of most-loved places to eat.

When traveling I make it a goal to try at least 1 new spot. I came to Kansas City to visit family and they have never heard of Pigwich, so they joined me on my little adventure to try something new. I ordered the banh mi: pork meatball, cilantro, carrot pickle, coconut jam. Winner, winner! Sooo full of flavor and I really enjoyed the bread. I wish I would have also ordered the Cuban, but I guess this means I’ll have to come back. I haven’t been out to too many places out in Kansas City, but I felt that the price was reasonable at only $ 7 a sandwich or $ 8 for the combo that comes with a drink and housemade chips. I know other people that reviewed also mentioned that their chips are amazing, but honestly, they were just chips to me. Service was great and the guy was patient with my little grandma asking him a ton of random questions. As we were eating on the bench outside of Pigwich I noticed that there is a place called Local Pig right next door that sells local cuts of meat. Pretty cool that you can grab a tasty sandwich at Pigwich, then head next door for delicious meat to take home.

Pigwich was one of the first places that came up in my vacation research and after a corroboration with some folks in St Louis my anticipation was at an all-time high. We arrived here on a Monday shortly after they opened, which isn’t exactly the best time to frequent a restaurant. We ordered the Banh Mi and the Cuban. With one side of Chips and a drink. Not a bad deal for $ 15 The Chips were great, nice and salty and pretty uniform and crisp. The components of the Banh Mi were phenomenal. The Meatballs tasted like Vietnamese roasted pork and the slightly sweet sauce was a surprising touch. The problem with any meatball based sub is composition becomes extremely important since you simply can’t get the whole thing in your mouth at once. They were training a new guy that day so perhaps that is to blame, but that doesn’t mean the quality of anyone’s sandwich should suffer. We were unimpressed by the Cuban, the bread was all wrong, and there was no depth to the flavor. And it wasn’t even pressed like a Cuban needs to be. Pigwich has some really tasty options and if I lived in the area I’d come back to try more. But avoid the Cuban for sure.

Scrumptious Sandwiches! Note: I love good sandwiches, and this is one hot spot you must hit up. hipster dining accommodations(outdoor, fenced-in /benched arrangements), and go check out the butcher shop next door(local pig) or the cool KC shop on the same block. My favorite was the Thai Meatball Bahnmi Sub. just enough twang from the carrots for a fun kick! Meatballs still burst with succulent, fragrant juice, and the bread held together a firework of perfect. Porchetta was the next runner up. Same praise for the meat. so good! Excellent comfort food pit stop. Please, don’t miss skip the chance to grab a bite here. get the combo while you’re at it because their house-made chips are delicious too!

Local Pig has done an amazing job of creating a space within the East Bottoms that people want to visit. From their high end characuterie, to the fun general store shop next down and their cool outdoor space, it’s a fun little trip down here whether you’ve been 100 times or zero. We were here on an E. Bottoms 3rd Friday event which was awesome, and wanted to grab some food from one of the highest rated spots around. The menu is very food-truck centric meaning there are some good options but not too many. I had the double burger, which in the words of the kids from The Sandlot was«pretty messy but good!» I enjoyed it, and the quality of beef shines through. I’m not sure I’d get it again though, and might opt for the Banh Mi sandwich with pork meatballs. My fiancée got the Philly Cheesesteak and it was fantastic — full of peppery goodness, melted cheese and well seasoned beef. Both came with some house made chips that were likely covered in crack based on how many I kept eating, especially when I don’t even like chips all that much in general. Very good stuff, but I’m eager to check out the other options — including the veggie friendly falafel sandwich.
