I was staying across the street and had walked over to the UPS store to ship something out and passed by this cute store and saw something in the window I immediately knew I needed to have. So I came back when they opened to try it on. She was so nice and helpful and didn’t push me to buy anything. She even gave some suggestions on how to wear it. I assumed it could only be worn as a jacket but she said it’d be cute with a belt as a top. And she was right! I wish they had an online store because they did not sell typical hawaiian print attire. The top I bought was made from an old kimono in to a kimono-style jacket. Whoever the buyer is for the store has a great eye!

DON’T BUYFROMTHISSTORE!!! I wanted to get your attention first. Read below to see why. My wife and I were vacationing in Kaua’i last week and I wanted to get some gifts for my daughter and for my wife who is quite small. We were staying at the Marriott and the lady that worked in the Marriott boutique store told us to try Crush since my wife is usually a 00 size and crush has her size. Crush is a typical Hawaiian boutique store with Hawaiian clothes. The lady’s were very helpful in helping my wife out. I found a bathing suit for my daughter but was unsure if I should buy it given that my daughter is 12 and it is hard to buy something for a tween. So I expressed this to the lady, she suggested I take a picture and send it to my daughter. This would have worked but it was 10 pm in the states. I did take a picture and sent it to her anyway but no response. The lady told me that if my daughter didn’t like it then we could return it and get something else. Well behold, my daughter didn’t like it so we decided to return the bathing suit. This was fine with me since the bottom costs $ 65 and the top costs $ 65. So a total of $ 130 for a bathing suit for a 12 year old. I should have known that it was going to be a headache for paying that price to begin with. However, I didn’t know that the owner of the store was going to be a witch about returning the bathing suit. So a day later my wife and I were back on the east side of Kaua’i and luckily I brought the bag with everything that I had bought back there including the bathing suit. When my wife tried to return it, a younger lady at the store said that we could do an exchange if we found anything. So my wife looked around for the next 15 minutes while I waited in the car. Unfortunately she couldn’t find anything. The young lady at the counter than told my wife that she did not know how to do a return with the credit card although she did take the merchandise and wrote a return receipt of the $ 130(minus a 15% discount that they had given us for everything that we had bought the day prior). So my wife comes back to the car telling me that she had returned the merchandise but that the girl didn’t know how to refund our card but would check with the owner when she returned. Not trusting anyone, I decided to go into the store and inquire because I wanted this cleared up before I left the island that night. I proceeded to go into the store to ask the girl if she could refund the amount on my card. She told me that she was not authorized to do nor did she know how to do a refund. She also told me that the owner would be gone for 2 weeks and was not available by phone to discus this. After pressing the sale person, I said that I would be glad to call the credit card company to ask them to walk us through this. She refused to do this so I called my Wells Fargo to ask them. Wells Fargo told me that the store needed to call their credit card swiper company and ask them. The sales girl knowing that I was getting upset with her inadequacies said that she would call the owner and discus it with her and she asked for my number. Funny since she told me earlier that she couldn’t contact her and now all of a sudden she could call her. The girl than told me that the store policy was to not do returns only exchanges. When I said that is not what I was told the day prior by the owner, she pulled out this little piece of paper that was 1.5 «x 1.5» that said no returns only exchanges. I said I was never told that, that this was not posted in the store to see and that the owner had told me point blank that I could return the bathing suit if I didn’t like it. I told the girl to have the owner call me. Not 5 minutes later the owner of the store, who was so attentive to our needs the day prior, called to discuss. She said that their policy was not to allow returns. Only store credit. This is where it got fun, the owner of the store than proceeded to tell me that the sales girl at the store that I had spoken to earlier was her daughter. REALLY!!! Can’t contact the owner and she was not authorized to run the credit card machine nor was the owner coming back for two weeks. LIAR! I tried to start explaining my case to the owner of the store, who was quite rude and did not allow me to talk so I tried to talk over her. I asked her repeatedly to allow me talk. All of this was on speaker phone with my wife listening. At one point I had to scream, «Please be quiet and let me talk.» She than yelled at me telling me that maybe I can treat my wife this way but not her. My wife laughed at her comment and then she got mad. I eventually turned my car around, took pictures of the store to prove that there was no sign that said no return and decided to return the entire merchandise to her daughter who was bewildered. I called my credit card company and told them and I am currently waiting for them to fix the mess. DON’T BUYHERE!!!

Crush is a small boutique next to Longs Drug Kapaa. They have cute dresses & yoga clothes by Melia Clothing and Hawaiian shell jewelry, including sunrise shells. The shop is run by a mom & daughter team who provide friendly customer service. I like to stop by whenever we visit Kauai.
