Ventured out to this side for the day. We were in Ewa Beach and my boyfriend wanted to try out his new Canon camera, we hardly get to take it out. So we looked for a few beaches in the area to tinker with it. We read there was a lighthouse and some of the pics looked cool on Unilocal. The beach park is in an industrial area in Kapolei. Just to warn you because it’s in the industrial area it smells really weird driving in, especially by Chevron.(Weird is underestimating the word I’m looking for, it’s bad.) I am surprised that they put a luau, all the way out here! It’s very isolated and at points you’re thinking, «WTF, where are we??!» The light house is on the luau side of the park, so trek along the beach path or walk around the parking lot beside Germaine’s Luau. The beach looks rough and lots of coral. It was windy today, but looks quiet and very isolated. When we walked by there was a family doing a photo shoot, and lots of people fishing. It looks like a beach you sit and relax and talk story. Not frolic in the water. Overall okay-ish. Not somewhere I’d go again.

A hidden beauty in the Campbell industrial area. Who would of though this place next to Germaine’s luau would be such a spectacular place to be. You can walk along the beach but be careful of all the uneven rocks. I love the lighthouse and beach area fronting Germaine’s. Whether you go during the day or night the beach relaxes you and it’s so awesome to be there and to experience it.

Went here in Summer 2012, and Barber’s Point Lighthouse along with their beach is very beautiful. However, it’s not the easiest place to find at first if you’re venturing out to the Leeward Side. Also, it’s not recommended for swimming and if you do walk along the shore, make sure you have appropriate shoes/sandals, as it is very rocky. Aside from the aforementioned points, there are some excellent views of the South Shore and maybe even Diamond Head in the far distance. By the way, the Lighthouse itself is not open to the public.

Very rocky point. Great views. Free parking I just like the Northshore so much better.

The scenery is awesome, but I don’t recommend single moms come out here by themselves. My first visit there were«sketchy» people out and it was 10AM and I was with my toddler I just didn’t feel safe being there by ourselves and no other people. This time around there were more visitors and they has a nice tide pool for my son to enjoy.

This beach park is very beautiful, however this beach is definitely NOT recommended for swimming. A jagged shoal is all along the water. Flip-flops are not recommended as well, if you plan to take a gamble and walk along the, again I say JAGGED shore, good luck! I saw lots fishing and picnickers here. Bathrooms, water fountains and tables is what you’ll find here. OH and free parking! If you can score a bit of sandy area instead of steaking out a grassy area you might get sprayed from the larger waves crashing on shore. Cools ya down if you don’t mind being a little saltwater sticky lol. «The Geographical name Ka lae loa, means „long point“ in Hawaiian and is the native name for what is now called Barber’s Point on O’ahu» Another special treat is when you come visit this beach park is got its very own Lighthouse! The Barber’s Point Lighthouse. This«not open to the public» lighthouse sits 71 feet high on Oahu’s southwest tip. Story says the lighthouse was named after a Captain Henry Barber, whom just loaded up his ship and it ran aground on Halloween night October 31, 1796! Bad omen or what?! Cause that would suck! I got this story from a couple that was sitting at a picnic bench. They just striked up a convo with me & hubby and told us all about the park! I researched it and its all true! Pretty cool! So I’ll add that the lighthouse was established in 1888 and it indeed is a Fresnel Lens atop shinning over the waters. And current building was erected in 1933 as you can see in one of my pictures. The lighthouse sits behind Germaine’s Luau.
