Our bus drivers name was Shane and our guide was Kii. The transportation is worth it. It was so entertaining and fun. the ride took about 45 minutes because of traffic. Once you get there they take a picture of your party. And greet you with your lei.(We just purchased the original luau so we got a shell lei) Its a beautiful setting but do not wear heels as it is on sand. Our package came with one drink ticket and the sodas are free! there was plenty of audience participation. I had a smile on my face the entire time. The bus drivers even get on stage and participated. The food was awesome! I enjoyed the pork and the beef. Those were my favorites! I would definitely come back

We loved Germaine’s. I took my wife, 16 year old sister in law and 18 year old niece and we loved the food and entertainment. I have been to another luau down the beach from here and had a better time at Germaine’s.

This was my first luau. The location is right on the ocean, and the view is beautiful! Staff was very friendly and the show was amazing. Most of the food was good. We used a discount from groupon or living social and it was very easy to redeem. Overall great experience.

Oh Germaine’s. Thank you for entertaining me and my then-fiancé, for the tasty luau spread and for letting me get smashed on your dangerously delicious blue Hawaiians. You were the only luau(at the time) that served alcohol and for that, I thank you.

My family and I wanted to try a different luau other than our usual place Paradise Cove. You can make online reservations but if you want Kamaiana Rate you will need to call customer service and make reservations. If you don’t plan on taking the shuttle to the luau they won’t need your credit card to hold your reservations, you can pay when you get there. Getting there was easy, just take the Campbell Industrial Park exit and go towards your route to Costco but stay on the main road and keep going down till the end of the road take a right. Then you’ll see a little fenced parking area. I like how they have ample parking and a security guard. The setting is beautiful, it’s a little cozier than paradise cove but the intimate dinner is nice sometimes. Gates open at 5:15pm so get there early to see the sunset and take pictures next to the light house. You get a free drink with your ticket but not sure which drink is actually free, I got a chi chi(coconut blended drink) which is extra $ 5 with ticket and a corona extra $ 5 as well. So not sure what the whole logic was for the tickets if you needed to pay extra for those drinks. Water and fountain drinks are complimentary on the other side of the venue. Show starts with a welcoming message and what I really didn’t like was the how the program focused on the bus drivers and the shuttles. I understand most of your sales comes from Waikiki but it was just a waste of time. Paradise Cove has lots of visitors from Waikiki but I don’t hear much of it. It just felt like we were isolated and it distracted us from the program. Also what I didn’t like was the reveal of piggy, they had it all chopped up already not the whole pig, so no picture opt for that(I know my son really wanted to see it). And last but not least no other activities you can enjoy, no lie making or haku making, no games at all. The food was usual, bbq chicken, chicken long rice, kalua pig, salad and etc. No poi bread like the others and no lau lau. I don’t remember if they had poke but I don’t think so if they did I sure missed out. It was a nice experiment to visit and now I can say I’ve been here.

This was a pretty good luau! Not sure what I was expecting besides seeing Hula Hula girls and sexy men flipping fire around. But nonetheless, it was a great experience. The luau is situated on a beach right at sunset so that made for nice viewing. The seatings are long picnic benches right on the beach, so no sexy and good shoes should be worn. You will have sand through your toes. It’s not an intimate settings as it can be hundreds of people at one show. The buffet is plentiful and it’s all you can eat. The«Kalua Pork» was nice and tender and delicious. The rest of the food items was forgetful for me. There is a little«ceremony» and explanation of lifting the pig out the ground so vegetarians be aware!!! But it’s cool to actually see how the pig is cooked. The entertainment of dancing and singing went on the whole time during eating, the show was full in effect. The bus ride to and fro, in care of Germaine’s Luau, was also entertaining making the long ride go by a little faster. The host on the bus taught us an interactive song, told jokes, and made us do funny things to pick on their other bus that was passing by. Overall, a good Luau experience on a Hawaii vacation!

I hate to badmouth any business… so heres my nice honest review. The good parts were the mai tais were strong. The dancers were attractive. Nice eye candy! The location is good. Its on the shore so you can walk around barefoot. You can get some good sunset pics. Ive been to luaus in MD so i had high expectations of an authentic Hawaiian luau. I thought i would see a whole pig spinning around on a roaster. Or at least a whole pig on a platter. I saw none of the above. The actors retrieved pulled pork from a pit of hot coals. To me the food was bland. Its a buffet but i didnt go back for seconds nor did i eat everything on my one plate

This is the most fun I’ve had in quite a while! The scene was remarkable and the talent of every individual on stage and off was amazing. Don’t even get me started on the food, because even that could have easily blown your mind! There was nothing to make everyone more comfortable than to have the best food and music along with sand between your toes! The show, dance, and voices are vital parts that I will remember for years. The bus drivers got on stage to «Strut their stuff», and Germaine’s even brought in the crowd to feel like they were apart of the event by letting them dance on stage for a great once in a lifetime experience especially for those who can only visit Hawaii!(I know a lot of us are ballin’ on a budget peeps). If you get the chance to go see what this luau has to offer then I advise that you take it! A time that you will surely regret if you miss the opportunity to go!!! BOO-YAH!!!

I have been to this luau twice now and for good reason! The staff is fantastic, energetic, and attentive. The food(unlimited) is absolutely delicious and the show is unmatched! This place is overflowing with aloha and everyone works to make you feel included in the Ohana.

I want to preface my review with something a local shared with us when we told her we were going to Germaine’s Luau: they’re giving you free drinks so you’re too drunk to see how bad the show and food is. Boy, was this true! First off, we drove ourselves to the luau which may have altered our experience because those who came by bus seemed fairly entertained by their ride guide. Second, instead of being given 3 drink tickets as indicated on the website for purchase of admittance, the lady at the front provided each patron with only 1 drink ticket. When confronted, she said that Germaine’s planned to change their drink voucher rule for 2016 but would grant our group 3 drink tix/person since we caught the mix up. Ahem, come on, we came BECAUSE of the anticipated free 3 drinks. Third, the food was subpar at best. There was nothing remarkable about the food. So unremarkable I can’t even remember what we ate to comment about it. Lastly, the show was fairly entertaining but after going to the Polynesian Cultural Center earlier in the day, watching Germaine’s crack at «authentic» Polynesian dancing was unbearable. The girls wore dresses that purposely twirled above their waists revealing their undergarments and the guy dancers had on the skimpiest of loin cloths. When the guys came out twerking, my party knew we had to go. There was just too much damn cheesiness we had to leave. Not all was bad at Germaine’s, however. The stage and ocean back drop made for a beautiful evening and Eric the bartender made a mean Long Island. Still, I couldn’t get drunk enough to see the crap of a show they were pulling on thirsty tourists such as myself. Tip: skip Germaine’s luau and go to the Polynesian Cultural Center’s instead. If you must come here though, order the Long Island from Eric the bartender; he’ll make it hard because you’ll need it.

My husband and I were in Oahu for a conference and wanted to take a few days to have the honeymoon we hadn’t had a chance to take yet. We decided we really wanted to do a luau and the conference offered a deal for Germaine’s Luau, so we went ahead and did it. It was so worth the money! There were some from the conference who disapproved of the area in which Germaine’s has its property, and I will be the first to admit that it was strange driving into an industrial part of the island to attend the luau. However, once you get there and get off the shuttle bus, you can see and hear nothing but the luau gathering and the ocean and can smell nothing but the yummy food being prepared for the buffet. This luau differs from the Paradise Cove Luau we also tried(you can see my other review of them if you like) in that it feels very laid back and homey. It really does have a comfortable back yard feeling that encourages fun and participation. There is plenty of seating and you can find your own. They are generous with drink tickets and offer free noon alcoholic drinks with water available at several stations so you can keep hydrated. The show was terrific and encouraged participation. The friendly feeling got all the crowd in the mood to try new things and risk the stage — great fun! As a musician and dancer, I was very impressed with their professionalism and their ability to bring the audience along with them. The food was good and there was definitely plenty of it with great variety offered. This felt like a true Hawaiian feast, not just something you could get at a buffet style restaurant on the mainland. It was such a delightful experience we would definitely do it again if we have the chance. It’s also one of the more inexpensive options we saw. Great job, Germaine’s!

Aloha! First time in Hawaii and this luau was wonderful. Shout out to cousin Travis for making the bus ride there funny and entertaining! When I got there the sun was setting and it was beyond beautiful. The sun actually turned red. Got 3 free drink tickets and you know I went straight to the bar. I got a blue Hawaii, skittles, and a tequila sunrise. Food was served buffet style and I’m usually a picky person when it comes to food but I got everything on my plate. It was fulfilling and delicious. The dances began and the performers were amazing! I loved every minute of it. This was a great luau to go to for my first time. Highly recommend it :-) Mahalo Germaine’s!

We heard this was not as pretty a location as paradise cove as its in an industrial area, but we thought it was beautiful! A smaller luau than the gigantic one at Paradise Cove. First to arrive get the best seats so be at the front of your bus line like we were! Buffet style dinner, emu was the best! Good choice for a smaller more intimate luau.

Let’s start at the beginning, the bus ride from Waikiki to the Luau was so much fun. If you are going to use the bus see if you can request Funsize(Chad) as your escort I know if we go back again we will for sure. If the owners are reading this give the man a pay rise he is brilliant and if I was just reviewing his work and effort it would be more than 5 stars. All in all the Luau is great, the food is so yummy and there is more than enough, you only have yourself to blame if you go home hungry, the drinks are great and we followed the advice from here and purchased the Tiki cups for them thereby getting doubles each time. The weather was perfect, the entertainment was exceptional, the only reason I can’t give 5 stars has more to do with the other people on our table who just didn’t shut up the whole time, even during the prayer. The only time I couldn’t hear them was when they were standing directly in front of me during the show. The staff attempted to get them to move but as soon as the staff moved away they went straight back. Also a note to them you still need to control your children, I didn’t appreciate getting a cup of sand poured over me by your feral children. Next time I will pay extra for reserved seating so this doesn’t happen and will be requesting Chad, and there will be a next time.

What Hawaiian vacation is complete without a luau? So after consulting with other people who had recently visited Hawaii, they suggested Germaine’s Luau. I found Living Social vouchers for the luau that saved us almost 50% off the ticket price. Also toddlers eat for free which is awesome! We made a reservation the same day and were excited to go the same week. On the Friday we went, to no fault of Germaine’s, there was a fire in the industrial lot next to Germaine’s. Apparently a stack of old cars burst into flames and smoke was billowing from the area and flowing into the luau area. This all happened before the luau even started. Actually maybe 15 minutes before and we had already gotten our drinks and took pictures. The dude in charge told us the luau was canceled and requested we all vacate because of the fire and the smoke. After realizing that many of the patrons were dropped off by buses that were at least 20 mins away, they allowed us to eat the food that they would’ve have to throw away anyway. The food was actually good. We enjoyed the pork and beef, the rice, the salads were good too. The poi was bland and tasted like paste. We ate in a hurry and while we ate they played music and afterwards we were ushered out. We went to the ticket booth and were told to ask to reschedule the luau through Living Social. But our trip would be over before Living Social would be able to do the exchange. So we requested a refund and it was granted. All in all we wish we could’ve experienced the luau, but we did like the food and all the employees were friendly. We never got our pictures which saddened me. Whenever we do go back to Hawaii and we want to go to a luau, we will probably try them again. Hopefully there won’t be another fire.

I’ve lived in Hawaii for a couple years now and my family is from here but I’ve never been to a luau before until couple months ago when two of my friends came to visit… my friend suggested Germaine’s so we tried it out and they definitely did a good job at making us feel like we were in Hawaii. We got the whole experience — Hawaiian food, luau /show(hula dancers), and of course the piña coladas! It’s a little far from town but it was a good place for a luau, especially if you’re visiting from the mainland or tourists from out of the country. When we got there, we were greeted before walking into the luau with shell necklaces and if you’re 21+ they give you two free drink tickets that are equal to about $ 5 I think? Which is nice of them. but the pina coladas are extra so I think I just paid for mine. The location was really nice. The setup is so nice, very kid friendly and definitely looks like paradise. The hula dancers were amazing and Germaine’s is super friendly. The show dancers come to the tables and interact with all of the guests, making you feel at home and very welcome. The only downside was that it took a really long time to get our food. I thought we would be eating and watching the show at the same time but their set up is watch the show, then everyone lines up to get food. But the food was good, it was like a buffet style. I don’t think I’d come again but it was a good first experience, and cmon, if you’re in Hawaii you gotta go to a luau!

Pros: beautiful Hawaiian dancers, very entertaining, 3 drink vouchers with luau, unlimited sodas and virgin mixed drinks, parking was easy for us driving in. Food was good, potato salad, Cole slaw, fruits, salad, Hawaiian sweet rolls, there were fish, chicken was really good, Kalua pork, there was a beef option that I didn’t try and poi(taro mashed up) and coconut gelatin(there was a Hawaiian name-I missed it) and two types of cakes, chocolate and vanilla(both good, moist not dry) Cons: it’s in an industrial area so when you pull up next to warehouses and large trucks coming in and out, you are at the correct place.

Great show. My college roommate is Hawaiian, and his family owns a dance studio, and the show was legitimately impressive. Decent food. The pork was fantastic, but everything else was just ok. The buffet line was very smooth and very fast. Nice venue. Tucked away from town, but still up along the beach. Overall, a smoothly running production. Pickup and check in was efficient, hosts on your motorcoach explain the agenda for the night in detail, the bartenders were fast, and the show was well paced.

When you first go to Hawaii you absolutely have to attend at least one luau while there because Hawaii pretty much invented the luau. Germaine’s isn’t a Disney luau like you might see in the Polynesian Village in Florida, but a more authentic Hawaiian luau. No probs with Disney but Germaine’s was fun. The Polynesian Cultural Center on Oahu also puts on a luau(probably a more authentic one) and has many other activities… but solely for luau purposes the PCC would not be my first choice because they do not serve alcohol; Germaine’s was a little looser and more fun. For Germaine’s: was it touristy… yes; was it hokey at times… yes; was it located in a sort of industrial area about an hour from Waikiki… yes; was it still worth doing… yes. Tickets for Germaine’s luau are sold all around the beach and hotel areas in Waikiki… this is a big and organized operation. Each night somewhere like a dozen big buses pick people up all around Waikiki and transport them out to the Kapolei area… about an hour ride west from Waikiki. Most people come via bus but you can drive yourself out there without much problem(we did). Buses start arriving around 5:30 pm when the doors open… the bars start working about the same time. Roughly 600 or so people go to this each evening so it is a big event. While the show is supposed to start at 6 pm, it really didn’t get going until about 6:30 pm. When you arrive you take a seat at any available picnic table… seating is first come first served unless you reserved a table for a group(we didn’t have any trouble getting good seats). Your tickets come with three drink chits per person which we found were more than enough to get properly sloshed. Drinks were good and plentiful… they make them up quickly and the line always moves. They know how to orchestrate a large group of people. Dinner is buffet style and they rotate the tables through the buffet line in a certain order. It moved pretty quickly and you can always go back for seconds. Overall the food was really pretty nice and they had plenty of it. You can pile as much as you like on your plate and eat as much as you can… they had lots and kept replenishing everything. They serve a variety of meats and that special pork found at all luaus. When you make your reservations you always have a weather risk… but that is just the way it is… we got lucky and had a beautiful evening. The show starts while people are getting their food and keeps right on until about 10 pm… it was a bit long in our opinion. While you can keep getting more food and drink all the time, you’ll be pretty much done and ready to go around 9 pm. If you came on the bus you have to wait for the buses and they leave at closing around 10 pm… so this event pretty much has you for a 6 hour adventure when you add in pick ups and drop offs at the hotels. The first time you visit the state of Hawaii you have to go to a luau… the next time you visit Hawaii you probably won’t want to. It is pretty much one and done. But Germaine’s was really worth doing for our first. It was fun and entertaining. The staff were wonderful to their visitors… taking pictures and making everyone feel at home. This was a nice evening adventure.

Bought the Go Oahu card & picked this as my bonus attraction to go to. Ive went to the Polynesian center luau before & I have to say that this was so much better in so many ways. 1) less commercialized & more intimate 2) more interactive 3) staff friendlier 4) show was family friendly & much more audience interactive 5) MC was funny & charming 6) food selection & taste was better 7) they give you 3, drink tickets & they don’t skimp on the alcohol at all. Con’s: after you call to book the time & date that you want to see this show, you have to go in person to get your ticket(printout) & have your Go Oahu card scanned. I find this very inconvenient & annoying. They should just be able to verify your Go Oahu card over the phone & just have you check in at the actual luau rather than having to go the Go Oahu stand. All in all we had a much better time here than we did at the Polynesian center luau & buffet.
