Eyes Plus Inc

We went in to the Kapolei location in search of prescription frames for my wife, and upon a very brief welcome was told «we are closing the doors in two minutes for lunch». Nothing else, welcome and leave in two minutes to us. I know how much a complete pair of glasses can cost along with a possible second pair that we were considering as well, but not with a greeting like that. I also know very well what good customer service is. Which is not what we received as first impressions go a long way unfortunately. Coach your staff please so others aren’t walking away with bad impressions I suggest.

I love Dr. Makini and staff. Great environment great service. Dr. Makini is very knowledgeable and takes time with patients. He also takes children. I scheduled my 4 year old son.

I came here hoping they could help me. I had a scratched cornea and in a lot of pain. Im from Chicago and on vacation so I didn’t have an appointment and would have to be seen by walk-​in. The receptionist, Susie, was by far the sweetest lady and was able to get me seen by Dr. Hank within 30 min! BY FAR the best place on the island! They saved my vacation and Dr Hank gave me extra contact lens just in case. I seriously owe it to this amazing team!

Took my son to have his annual eye examine. He has been seeing Dr. Makini for 10 years, prior to Dr. Makini, we have switched doctors a couple of times.
Immediately, I noticed that Dr. Makini communicated directly with my son, even at such a young age. My son is very shy, and right away opened up to Dr. Makini. That made my heart warm as he has serious problems with his vision and had to deal with very unfortunate circumstances that would make him tear having to go to the OD. Dr. Makini first of all wanted to connect with my son, and they spoke on a personal level, which was just wonderful. After he spoke with my son, he spoke with my mister and I privately to give us the necessary info.
When my son was old enough to switch from glasses to contacts, he had my son watch a video, and worked with him until he was comfortable with applying and taking it out and advised him and us on the important’s of keeping it clean as well as your hands and the area.
We were the last appointment, the office was closing up, but he would not budge until my son was comfortable. Basically, we stayed an hour half after closing time assuring us not to worry about the time.
Dr. Makini is so through, explains himself so there is no misunderstanding. He has a connection with us as well as my son and that is an extremely important factor in choosing the right doctor for our son.

Dr. Makini and his fabulous staff continues to demonstrate wonderful customer service along with professionalism. I had a great time choosing my Progressive glasses with their expert opinion on what would look best for me. The staff is so friendly that I felt like I knew them for a long time. There was a time that I had to come in to get fitted for contacts and they were able to fit me in quickly. If anyone is looking for an optometrist that thoroughly explains and takes the time with you along with a staff that can put a smile on your face, Dr. Makini and his fabulous team is the place to go.

Over the years I have been to many optometrist. Not one of them can touch the services you get with the team at Eyes Plus! From the highly experienced and caring staff, to Dr. Makini comforting examinations, this is the only place I trust to take care of my vision. I am so impressed by how much fun going to the optometrist can be!!! Many thanks to everyone at Eyes Plus! Mahalo!

I knew I needed glasses when I started to hate driving at night, but never got my eyes checked. It wasn’t until I tried to renew my license at Kapolei DMV and failed the eye test miserably that I finally went to get my vision checked and this is one of the places they referred me to. Dr. Makini is super nice and always smiling. He is very passionate about his job. He doesn’t just see you for your appointment and send you on your way, but he educates you, complete with a Power Point presentation. Some of you may find this boring and unnecessary, but his presentation made me wonder if I would’ve excelled more, say, in college, had I gotten a vision test a long time ago. For that reason, I also bring my son here, to which he recommends kids get their vision checked at a young age so problems can be corrected early rather than later when they grow up. (Like I did). The staff is also very friendly and their office is nice and clean.

By far the best eye doctor I’ve had. Staff is friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this place if you’re looking for an eye doctor. Location is very convenient for me, close to work.

Dr. Makini has taken consistently excellent care of the unique vision needs of my family for a long time. He and his staff value providing a high caliber of attentive service to their clients, making each person feel cared for and important. As a natural educator, Dr. Makini welcomes my questions and takes advantage of moments to increase my understanding about vision care and the natural changes that have occurred for me over time. Beyond the clinical expertise, I find going to Eyes Plus a joy and have grown to appreciate the positive energy and welcoming environment that I experience there.
