For this place being«kid friendly» there cleanliness with the kids for the kids cups was disgusting! They gave us a lid that had already been used multiple times the dirt was caked on the sides. When I asked the waiter if why they gave us a dirty lid and where they got it she said she didn’t know and she was«sorry.» I asked for the manager a male then came over and blamed the dirty lid on pop once I proved him wrong on the pop he blamed it on the manufacturer. We definitely won’t be going back.

I was born and raised as a townie. I’ve been around the block and know Chinatown very well. Chinese food? Born to a Chinese chef I believe I have a different palate when it comes to Cantonese food. So why on earth would I drive all the way to Kapolei to eat Chinese food? It was my sister’s birthday the other month and she chose this place. I was very hesitant and wanted to express my dissatisfaction but I kept my mouth shut as I wanted to respect the birthday girl’s wishes. I arrived at 630pm on a Friday and noticed many reserved tables. There was no hostess stand so I walked in to the cash register and opted to use my Chinese skills with hopes of securing a table. Luckily we were given a round table and few minutes later my family arrived as we traveled in separate cars. To my surprise I recognized one of the waitresses here as she is a regular waitress at Happy Garden. This is such a small island. Looking around I noticed some«Westernized» Chinese food which I really didn’t want. Starchy thick egg noodles, egg foo young, bright red sweet and sour sauce… yikes!!! I decided to take control of the dinner by flagging down the Happy Garden waitress and asked what she recommended. I also asked the birthday girl what she wanted to eat and here’s what we had: 1) Roast Duck(4⁄5) Legit. Very good dish. Skin was crispy and duck was meaty. Sauce was lightly drizzled over the dish which was a nice touch. 2) House Special Noodles(4⁄5) When ordering I specified for thin Hong Kong style egg noodles as I don’t care for the thicker, starchy noodles. Dish was good with an assortment of meats, including roast duck, seafood and Choy Sum veggies. 3) Honey Walnut Shrimp(4⁄5) This is a pretty standard dish and was executed well. Shrimps were plump and deep fried well but perhaps heavy on the mayonnaise sauce. Walnuts were very good. 4) Deep Fried Fish Fillet w/Sweet and Sour Sauce(1⁄5) Per my sister’s request I had the sauce on the side and was disappointed when the fish fillets were overcooked. Fish was on the thin side and the texture reminded me of soft beef jerkey. It was chewy and wanted to send the dish back but didn’t want to ruin my sister’s special day. She was happy and that was more important. 5) Mongolian Beef on Sizzling Platter(2⁄5) This dish was recommended by the waitress. Family members seemed to have enjoyed this but it wasn’t to my liking. Thin slices of beef sautéed with onions in a spicy and tangy sauce. The dish was sizzling which pleased everyone but flavor wise wasn’t memorable. 6) Stir Fried Tofu w/Veggies(3⁄5) Standard. Tofu was deep-fried first and sautéed with assorted veggies in oyster sauce. It was okay. Nothing fancy. Service was choppy that evening. It was pretty much 75% filled with quite a few people doing take out. Had to repeatedly ask for tea and water. Seemed like they forgot our fish dish and flagged our waitress 2x before it came out. Fish was cold and overcooked. Complimentary dessert was given which was a nice touch but then the bill came. With tip the bill came over $ 150. Portions were not on the generous side so I was a little shocked. I didn’t say anything but just paid the bill. Overall, a somewhat decent Chinese restaurant on the west side but as a townie, not worth the drive all the way to Kapolei just to eat here.

Food tastes very good. Large portion sizes and very reasonable prices. I would definitely recommend it and will go back. That being said, the meat cuts aren’t the best(no worries if you are not a meat eater) and the service isn’t the best, so as long as you’re prepared for that, you will enjoy your meals.

I been coming here for many years, probably since 1998. The place has a lot of room, enough for a smallish party and we have never had to wait for a table. The place is quite clean. The parking. Depending on when you go to eat, parking can sometimes be a challenge. The lot is shared with an orthodontist and dentist, and a beauty shop, but mainly, inside the beauty shop is Jess the Best(sp) which is a very popular place that sells Acai Bowls and have a great following. It’s also next to a public park. The service. Hey, it’s Chinese food with Chinese workers. Not racist here, but a lot of Chinese restaurants have Chinese workers, many of which don’t speak much English. They may sometimes come across as pushy or loud or rude, which may or may not be the case. Most times they are nice. The food. After all these years, there has hardly been any change to the menu, except the prices. It is consistently good and the portions are pretty substantial. My favorites are the cold ginger chicken, steamed pork hash with salted fish, minute chicken cake noodle, and black bean beef chow funn.

In my opinion, this is the best chinese restaurant that i’ve tried on the island. They never disappoint! They provide top quality Chinese dishes. I like is that their menu states that they do not use msg in their cooking. This is pretty rare for a chinese restaurant I feel and I think it’s important because it doesn’t leave me feeling tired afterwards. Every dish that i’ve tried has been great. My favorites include: Salt & Pepper spareribs, orange chicken, egg blossom soup, beef & broccoli w/cake noodles, honey walnut shrimp, and the crispy gaugee. Prices are really great too. It’s made to eat family style(to share), and it’s approximately 7 to 11 dollars a dish. With a family of 4, we usually get about 4 dishes and our averge bill is about $ 35 – 40. They are also good for big groups. We’ve done family dinners, birthday parites, graduation parties, etc. And they have affordable menus that accommodate. Their service(to me) is great. Granted, most of them aren’t the perky friendly waitors that you’d expect from other restaurants. They don’t talk very much, but they make sure your food tastes okay and keeps your water refilled. I’ll be back :)

Everytime I’ve came here it wasn’t crowded and the service was pretty quick, tonight we got chow mien with pork cake noodle, orange chicken and the honey chicken sizzling platter that wasn’t all that great. But overall it honestly isn’t bad and at a decent price! P.s I mostly come here for the hot tea! I just love tea and it goes great with your meal, nice way to wash it down!

Basic Traditional Chinese Food at its best. I don’t mind traditional as long as it taste good and it comes with a nice price. We were a group of 30 and they had room for us. They seated us next to each other and we ordered the cheapest combo which was under $ 125 with a combined total of under $ 400. I cant remember prices to well but I do remember that duck. That duck was delicious, it was amazing and no one wanted to share it. Overall the food is great. The feel of the place is nice and clean, but a bit tight. I understand business in having as much seats possible to be profitable, but people had to get up if someone trapped in a corner needed to use the bathroom. The servers are very cultural, in a way where I know how some Asian people speak and act because of business. I have no problem with that, but some people who don’t know will probably disagree. All of the food was brought to us quickly and they always made sure our waters were full. We than were able to take the food home which was a major plus. I really recommend Kapolei Chinese Restaurant.

I just was there to get fried rice, shrimp and also chicken. So 2 big Styrofoam plates of rice with peas and meat added. Not fried at all. Not very appetizing and paid $ 18 for it.

I can’t even give this place any stars! BUT UnilocalMAKESMEATLEASTVGIVETHEM1. This was my 1st and last time here! Found some black floaty thing in my water. Was to scared to even try an figure out what it was so I gave it to the waitress and told her can I have a new glass. The when the food came out there was hair on the cold ginger chicken. This was very embarrassing being that my co workers were also there. The service was ok I guess. But never coming back to this place again !!

My family and I used to come here allllll the time, but over time the service just declined and we felt it wasn’t even sanitary to even eat here Our last visit, and most definitely OURLAST visit to the restaurant we ordered a couple things and we usually get roast duck but this time it just didn’t taste right, it tasted SPOILED like it was left out to sit for a while and served warm. So disgusting. The amount of bugs I’ve seen here as well is concerning. Service sucks as well, some of the workers are just rude and have no filter when speaking to the customers. I haven’t seen pass sign on the door which makes it kinda iffy as well. Don’t recommend coming here.

I want to give this place 5 stars because they have the best Chinese food on O’ahu, but the ambiance is seriously lacking. The Cold Ginger Chicken and the Shrimp Broccoli over Cake Noodle is a 10. The service is always good and the staff is very nice, but the décor and the cleanliness of the establishment is below par. I feel if the owners were to take a little time and money to improve the restaurants appearance and health standards they could go very far and I would feel good about giving them 5 stars, but until then I’ll keep it at 4. I feel it’s a fair rating.

Alright food, but absolute horrible service. Sat down, and and the waitress took our drink orders. My family of 5 asked waters, as we usually do, and I also asked for lemon slices to go along with my water. The waitress was nice, but moments later, the manager/owner came to our table instead. He seemed to be holding something behind his back. «Do you think you get special treatment?» He asked us. We were all clueless with what he was talking about, and we sat there thinking it was a joke. «You know we don’t have lemons here, we’re not a bar» he continues. And then he proceeds to bring his arm around from his back to give us a small plate of sliced lemons that he was hiding or whatever. We laughed, thinking he was joking again. With a stern face he said«you don’t get special treatment here. We’re not a bar. Don’t ask for lemons again.» We apologized, being polite. Then he continued to ask say«you’re not Chinese. I can tell. What are you? Japanese? Thai?» I politely answered that we were Korean. He nodded and said«I knew it. I hate Koreans.» And walked away. When our original waitress came back, we asked if we could speak to a manager. She told us that not only was that man the manager, but he was the owner of the restaurant as well. I’ve never experienced anything like this, and my family and I were completely surprised. I feel like I could even make a legal claim about this. I usually use my Unilocal account to browse through other reviews, but after this racist event I had to write one.

Sorry to say, but I won’t be coming back here again. I think they have new owners. My dad came to visit and I took him here because we love Chinese food and left very disappointed. The Singapore noodles had barely any curry flavor, the Choy sum was old and over-cooked so it had this faded green color that had a yellowish-gray tint. There was an unusual amount of fruit flies in the restaurant and the service was unusually bad. When we asked for chopsticks, the waitress seemed like we were bothering her for asking. When my dad paid the bill in cash, as we were leaving, the waitress had the nerve to yell after us to let us know we didn’t leave tip. My dad simply responded, «because it wasn’t good.» And we left. If I want Chinese food, unfortunately, I’m going to have to drive into town or just pick it up from Chun wah Kam which is right down the street. Very unfortunate.

Ate here again for lunch since we were looking for a pretty good chinese restaurant that sells jook on the leeward side, and although this restaurant does not serve jook, it is one of the best in the west: Shrimp fried rice — 3 stars — average, but on the oily side. Jai — 4 stars — most restaurants will make the cheaper, current version without the fungus and other good stuff, but this restaurant still makes jai close to what we had before. Sweet sour pigs feet — 4 stars — haven’t seen that many restaurants make this, so if you are craving for this, this is one of the few restaurants that offer this dish. More on the sweet side though. Ginger Onion fish fillet — 4 stars — a pretty nice slab of fish with ginger onion soy sauce. Tables are clean and service was great. Price was reasonable. Lots of parking also.

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant on Oahu. It might be the very least expensive, as well. For less than the price of eating at Panda Express, my family gets heaping plates of food, enough to fill all four of us. We’ve been here several times, and have tried numerous items from their vast menu, and everything(so far) has been great. Our faves are the orange & sesame chicken, and the beef fried rice. The staff are always super friendly, too! Definitely the best Chinese on the island for under $ 10 a plate.(And each of those plates easily feed 2 – 3!) Great taste, awesome value. You can’t go wrong if you’re near Kapolei!

It was delicious and the service was really fast. We order the dinner for two with a side of duck spring rolls(they were delicious) The order for two included two individual soups, a big plate of pork fried rice a big omelette and two main dishes which were the beef and broccoli and the sweet and sour pork, but we were able to substitute the sweet and sour pork for the general tso chicken for just 50 cents. The quantity of the food was very generous it can feed 3 people instead of 2. The service was great and quick. I recommend this place a lot if you are in mood of good Chinese food with good ingredients. Oh btw they give you a little pot of tea that comes perfect with the meal.
