Kapolei Inline Hockey Arenas

Absolutely love this place and everyone is a huge family. Richard and Jami run a great rink with a fun atmosphere for athletes of all levels.

This place is wonderful! My husband and I found out about it through our tattoo artist, so we had to check it out for ourselves. My husband played roller hockey a few times growing up in Corona, CA and he says that KIHA is so much nicer than anything he’s played on before. The facility is beautiful and well-​maintained, and no matter where you sit you’ll have some sort of view of both rinks.
The first time we walked in, we were immediately greeted by the owner, Richard. He asked us if we were familiar with roller hockey, if we’ve ever played, etc. He even knew of the rink that my husband grew up playing in in California. Richard also helped my husband find all the right gear, sizing, color, everything that he needed to get started. It was a hassle-​free experience. My husband hasn’t actually played roller hockey in more than 10 years and was a bit rusty, so he was also relieved to find out that KIHA offers open-​skate sessions throughout the week for players to come and practice and/​or just hit a few pucks around.
My husband eventually ended up joining in a league at KIHA. The best part was that they have 4 divisions based on skill level — D1, D2, D3 and D4. They watch you play and set you up in a league that they think best fits you, which is pretty accurate considering most of the employees who work there were or still are playing hockey themselves.
My husband and I also have 2 kids, and after searching for some sort of recreational activity to place them in, we had them try the free youth hockey clinic on Saturday mornings. They love it! Not only are the classes/​instructions free, but the rental gear is free to use as well. When the kids arrive, they have them sit down one by one and start fitting the gear. There is all sizes and both my kids (ages 8 and 5) were able to play comfortably. The classes are led by Jami Yoder, who has played for Team USA, and quite frankly, knows his sh*t when it comes to inline hockey. There are kids there of all ages and skill levels — even adults who want to learn to skate and play hockey. You really can’t find anything better than this. I’ve put my daughter in AYSO soccer in the past, and it was like throwing her in the lion’s den — they practiced and played based on most of the other girls knowledge and experience levels (which were higher than my daughters), so she was never really able to catch up and learn at a level that she should have been, which is why I love this program. There are also several other instructors on the rink who also take the time to teach the kids how to move, and really focus on learning to skate before just throwing them in with all of the experienced kids who already know how to skate and play the game. It really is a wonderful program and can’t thank the owner and staff enough for this program!
Overall, if you’re interested in hockey, adult or kid, you should definitely check this place out!

First– let me start off by saying up until about a month ago, we loved this place. The owners were so friendly every time we came in. They offer a generous free program to teach newbies the fundamentals of in-​line hockey, even letting the kids borrow all the necessary gear for free. They do this so that people would become hooked and start participating in the leagues. The leagues mind you, are reasonably priced and are conveniently timed for most people.
My family were adamant fans, referred every hockey family we knew, and in April my husband who has played hockey his whole life, signed up to play the following season. However, a week later I was hired on at a new job that involved a significant commute and we had major concerns that with children in childcare and my new commute and only having one car, hockey would need to wait another season until things got into a steady routine. My husband immediately called KIH to cancel. He spoke with a guy who wasn’t the owner, but whom we had met in-​person when he initially signed up. My husband specifically asked «I know I preordered the jersey so if you already ordered it, let me know and I’ll come in to pay for it. I’m going to need it eventually when I start playing next season.» The guy said «don’t worry about it.» That was the end of it. So we thought.
In August, my husband received a phone call from one of the highest ranking people on this island informing him of a measly $ 100 debt for the jersey that was pre-​ordered. This is the way this business chose to inform my husband that anything was owed. Allegedly they called my husband several times (although his phone records indicate no such calls were ever received.) Allegedly they sent lots of emails (although the only emails received were updates on the league and not at all indicative that their was a balance due). We have never owed anyone anything ever and have always paid our obligations on time. Had my husband or myself any knowledge that we owed money to this business, we would’ve happily paid it. Especially considering how fond of this place we were and how thankful we were that a place like this existed out here in Hawaii.
My husband immediately drove out to the business after receiving this phone call and waited 45 min for the owner to arrive. He paid for the jersey and told the owner to keep it as he never intends to come back there now. My husband went from having every intention to join the league once our new two-​working-​parents routine settled down to not wanting to do business with an establishment who elects to potentially destroy someone’s livelihood over $ 100 that the customer didn’t even know they owed. That’s a horrible way to do business. This was the single most embarrassing thing that has ever happened in my husbands long career, all because this business felt compelled to skip all the normal collection processes and take advantage of the fact that my husband is in the military and can have his career affected.
Luckily the military acted reasonably and understood the situation. Fortunately, other than extreme embarrassment, there were no long-​term ramifications. Businesses should understand and recognize that just because you CAN google military leaders, doesn’t mean you SHOULD as your first resort. This action by this business was very wrong and I’m very sad to say we will never be back.

It’s a huge facility with two rinks. Air conditioned, clean, and spacious. Went to watch my son’s soccer friend Kawena… and next thing you know he wants to play. Richard is a very welcoming Owner. The shop is fully equipped with lots of new equipment. Even the women’s restroom is clean. A great place for the kids!
The mezzanine has more tables, chairs, snack shop, tv, benches and a bird’s eye view of both rinks. I was surprised that it had been open for some years now because it looks brand spankin’ new. One of the rules is ‘no gum chewing’, which is good.
Saturday mornings they offer free skating lessons. My children loved it and now they are both playing in the U8 and U10 League. Richard had all the equipment they need to start. My son loves his Jersey with his last name on it. My parents came to one if the games and they said the place looked so clean. They enjoyed the games and said how organized everything was. Also, that Richard was such a nice man and they enjoyed their conversation with him.
Overall, the place has a positive vibe from Richard, the Coaches, Kids, and the Parents. Everyone seems to enjoy being there. And… they also have Adult League for those who want to play as well.

What an amazing facility. I was greeted by the owner and as a visitor I was given a full tour. The arena is immaculate. Great rinks, amazing supply of rental equipment and friendly welcoming environment. I’m hoping I have enough time during my visit on the island to get some games in. If you play hockey or would like to learn, KIHA is a great place to do it.

Hawaiians playing hockey reminds me of the Jamaican bobsled team. It’s just a little weird to see but it’s also great to see people here playing at this facility which is really great. KIHA has two rinks side by side. The facility it self is top not notch and very clean. The people here are like family. A great place to play hockey

Amazing place. Best inline arena I’ve ever visited. Great leagues and the owner Richard is the nicest guy you’ll ever meet.

All I know is growing up in Hawaii so PO never had beautiful state of art indoor hockey rink. It really shows the growth of hockey in the islands from the youth programs too the adult leagues. I went too checked out my iceacholis teammate Matty playing island style. The first thing blew me away is the outside of the building never tell not just one but two full rinks (the main one probably slightly bigger). It located in industry area of Kapolei so literally nothing going at night just the arena. The cool sign outside the building the IKEA. Not the furniture store people. You walk inside tell everything is new. Course not playing this night but my boy Matty telling me the floor amazing clean they keep it, the boards that go all the way up all around, too state of art scoreboard (not old school). and the decoration with the Narc (if you know anything about roller hockey no need too explain). The lighting way have things set up is awesome. If like me that night watching they have upper level with benches even downstairs that can watch games or support your team. Both rinks basically close side by side. If one game not exciting always check out going on in the other rink. The locker rooms Matty told me was great not run down but new and top notch like everything else about it. I played roller in Vegas and there nothing that can compete with this rink. Matty who grew up east coast, pro roller hockey, and seen the same in Vegas. Nothing but TOP NOTCH rink and would go as far saying probably best indoor inline hockey in the country! No joke.
If your player sure you should come check this place out. Get on team and enjoy truly paradise in paradise if such thing. I know I wish could be playing with my iceacholics teammate and good friend again.

I’ve been to 4 Roller Hockey facilities and by far this is the best one. The players here treat the other players like family… Well the 35 plus older leagues do. They do it run it a bit different. 3×20min periods. More play time for the people that has the stamina, but hell for the folk who can not hang. I can’t verify this, but the rink looks like a full ice ring. Quite big.
The family program for the Keiki’s is awesome. I wished my family put me through these programs. Instead I was in to computers and playing games and how to program them.

When I first moved to Hawaii over two years ago, I was guardedly optimistic upon hearing that there was an inline hockey league here. I envisioned less than ideal facilities, perhaps even an outdoor rink. But to my surprise and delight, KIHA turned out to be one of the top facilities that I have played at. And I have played in inline arenas across the country and Canada for college and NARCH tournaments.
The facilities here are immaculate. Clean bathrooms and locker rooms, two levels from which to view the action and two well kept side-​by-​side rinks with excellent floor and boards. Beyond just the facilities, the leagues are run quite professionally by Richard and Jami. You know when your games are, they give stats, and charge a very reasonable fee. These things are not always a given at other places.
They have several divisions to meet everyone’s skill level. And while I don’t have kids of my own, I can see that they have an amazing youth program that really develops their skill, yet ensures they meet the number one goal of having fun. I would highly recommend to anyone to get their kids involved.
While it can be a little hard to find the first time you go (tucked in a business park in Kapolei), once you’re there you won’t ever forget it.
