Not a good experience. Went there at 8:45 on a Saturday night and it had less than 20% of the restaurant full. The wife and I tried to order sake and they were out. Out of sake… at a sushi restaurant… on a Saturday night. Seriously? Then we tried to order pork dumpling… out of that too. The waiters excuse… «Sorry we just had a table of 30 that came and cleaned us out.» What restaurant doesn’t prepare for being busy on a Saturday night? Then we had to ask them to bring silverware. Sushi was extremely sub par. Definitely will never be going back, even if it’s paid for by someone else.

Went in for my birthday dinner. Restaurant was dead, which was fine, but a mess. The floor had food all over it and the table we were going to sit at was messy. Ordered a glass of wine only for them to come back and say they were out. Then ordered a seaweed salad and again, came to the table to tell me they were out. Finally ordered the sushi and it was alright. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great. I have definitely had a better experience at other places in Houston. Probably won’t be going back to this spot. ***Restaurant went out of business***

Came to la centera with my family. Wifey and daughter craved sushi and wonton soup. Searched on Unilocal and this was the only option. I rather this place not be an option at all. But first let me tell you why. First impress outside appeal looks nice, walked inside and seated. The place was not all that busy and the place was dirty. We ordered a few things from the menu then found out after we ordered that there was a happy hour menu! Was not informed by the waitress what’s so ever. Wife ordered crunch roll and miso said both were ok. She’s not the harsh critic like me so OK is pretty bad lol. I can’t really speak much for her on her dishes. Whenever I visit a Japanese place I always order Udon noodle soup of whatever or also called nabeyaki. Just as people have commented on before the shrimp tempura were super limp, not crispy at all. As for the broth it was pretty pretty bad also. There are 2 types of udon broth dashi or mentsuyu. I’m not a chef or anything but I’m thinking this was more of a mentsuyu. So as I was saying the broth was a bit on the sweet side and not so flavorful also only noodles, bland soup and very finely chopped spinach in the soup. Oh lol and your limp shrimp Finally my daughter had wonton soup which she enjoyed, lol at least one of us did! Her soup was more flavorful than mine. Wonton were finally seasoned and stuffed. Wonton skin didn’t have much of that frozen chunky texture. If you are looking for a sushi place turn around and go the other way.

This is now my second time at Kenzo sushi. I am not going to bash the establishment, however I will say that they need to do better with their staff’s service skills. When we got here, the place had maybe four other tables occupied. But for some reason they seemed to only have two people working in the whole place. After about three hours(it was a meetup for drinks) our group of four were the only ones there… yet it took the waitress/waiter like 15 to 20 minutes to come back to us for simple things like a new drink order or food order. (NOONE was here but us). The food was pretty decent… we ordered the crab wantons(tasty) and 3 sushi rolls which were also tasty. The drinks were good AFTER the first round. Like, we ended up ordering something totally different the second go ’round. Lychee martinis were yummy and sweet ! Margarita Kamikaze shots. I think I wont come back to this place until they get more wait staff. because that is really the only gripe I had about this place.

Terrible experience. Service was awful… Had lunch, needed to ask for salad, and sushi roll that came with the bento box. They did not serve me the correct entrée and it took 20 mins. to replace it. Pick another place to eat, this is one of the poorest examples of restaurant I have ever experienced…

We came here on Saturday and enjoyed our visit. The three of us sat at the bar. The bartender, Ray, took great care us. The manager even came over and checked on us occasionally. I was very impressed with the service. For food, we indulged in some rolls the bartender recommended. The first was the cherry blossom roll. It was incredibly delicious. It tasted exactly like I would expect my sushi to taste, fresh and vibrant. We also ordered the shrimp attack roll. It was good as well. The cherry blossom was by far my favorite. I didn’t have high hopes before coming given the mediocre Unilocal reviews. To my surprise, I was absolutely blown away. The food and service both exceeded my expectations. I can’t wait to go back!

I have to agree with the other reviews. Not only was the food sub-par(soggy tempura, wrong sauce on rolls, salmon teriyaki not fully deboned), but service was equally disappointing. We asked about a few menu items and were told, «don’t worry about what it says, we haven’t updated the menus». Really. We waited perpetually for drink refills and dirty plates from appetizers salad and soup were never cleared during the meal. When we asked to speak with the Manager he had to come inside and cut his beer and smoke break short(we know this because we waited and watched him wrap it up just outside the door). We were simply told, «thanks for telling me». No apologies or offers to make it right. There are far too many sushi places nearby to want to try this one again. I suggest you let Unilocal be your guide…

Just left after waiting for 15 min for the server to acknowledge us. Service needs to be improved. Food is decent. Anyway, walked across to Bonefish Grill and within 15 min, we had our drinks and appetizers.

Me and my wife always eat there. I don’t see any problem with the service as people mention here, and the staff is very friendly. I love the fried rice, and the sushi is awesome. I’m a fan of the crawler roll, my wife of the shrimp attack.

I’ve had a lot of great meals here, but today my fiancée and I waited half an hour in an empty restaurant to get salmon sashimi. The fish was frozen. When I asked the waitress what happened, she said«the chef ran out of salmon so he got some from the back.» Got some from the back? If there was no sashimi-grade salmon, they should have just said that they were out. I asked them to take the sashimi back and they did not offer anything at all for the long wait and lack of meal. They still charged us for our appetizer. Keeping the single star until management addresses the problem or until the restaurant is under new management.

I wasn’t too impressed overall with this place, but the way it looks inside is really great. I was kind of expecting more since it’s in the La Centerra square. I went for dinner one time and we were one of the only tables in there, it was quite strange… A little too quiet in there to feel comfortable.

My husband and I stopped in here early for dinner on a Friday(around 5:30) for the first time. For sushi in Katy(read: limited selection), I thought the food was pretty good and will go back when I want a sushi fix. We ordered drinks(wine and sake) and started with miso soup(loved!) and a spicy tuna roll which was good. We then ordered the Dynamite Roll, a Volcano Roll, and another spicy tuna roll, all of which were pretty good. All of the food was solid, though I do agree with some of the other reviewers regarding service being a bit slow or spotty. Our service experience wasn’t outright terrible; we certainly didn’t have the seriously negative experience some others have had, but our waitress was very slow and seemed to disappear quite a bit considering there were only 2 or 3 other tables in the restaurant. Bottom line, I would go back for sushi in Katy, just be aware of the potential issues with service.

I don’t have anything good to say about this restaurant. When we were first seated, we were given dinner menus, even though it was noon on a weekday. We asked for lunch menus. The server said okay… and never came back. We asked a different server who eventually brought them. Each question I had about the menu seemed to irritate the server. We also had to ask for regular(not low sodium) soy sauce twice before receiving it. I ordered the teriyaki chicken and sushi Bento and my wife had the salmon Bento with tempura shrimp. My chicken was dry and tough and appeared to have maybe been boiled. My stir fried veg was cold and the sushi was hacked up(bad knife skills) and didn’t taste fresh. My wife’s tempura was completely limp. Please see the pictures. This cost us $ 28. For that price I would expect better. Also, look at the picture of the Sake machine… not exactly high class. Sake in a box!

The tsunami roll was beautifully presented, delicious and REALLY spicy. The shrimp tempura wasn’t really crispy as I had hoped, and the vegetable tempura was also not crispy and cut too thick, so the sweet potato wasn’t fully cooked. Surprisingly, they were out of green tea, so I really missed that nice hot cup of tea with my lunch. Overall, the food was just okay. There was a really strong smell of cleaner, I would assume whatever they mopped the floors with, since they were wet when I walked in right when they opened for the day.

The food was good, but it took nearly 30 minutes to get the drinks we ordered. Service was truly horrible. I complained to a manager but that didn’t help. That said, we ordered the Kenzo Deluxe meal(for 4 people) and it was fantastic. Maybe the best miso soup I’ve ever had. Unfortunately, the service was so bad I don’t plan on ever returning.

It took one hour to get our drinks and appetizers after ordering. It was our table and one more, it was not busy in the restaurant. Horribly slow and forgetful service.

Not the best sushi in the world, but to me this was the only edible sushi place in the Katy area. The bartender is awesome and super friendly. I had a few problems when they first changed owners(something about how they couldn’t access their online website so the information wasn’t accurate) but I think they have worked out that problem.

My wife and I come here every chance we get. The owner, Annie, is the nicest, sweetest person. The food is always expertly prepared and as fresh as it is delicious Kenzos is easily our favorite sushi bar in Houston /Katy.

I’ve came to Kenzo throughout the years(2012) and I decided to order Hwe dub bab(not my first time) with a friend and the portion of the sashimi has really decreased. The dish did not match the photo they have on the menu and my friend and I were very disappointed with what we got instead. It was not worth $ 18, especially since the fish did not taste fresh at all. I couldn’t finish it because of the fishy taste. My friend and I were very dissatisfied.
