Do I know what I’m eating here, no, but if it was made by them I know it is going to be tasty. Will I ever know the names of the dishes I like, no. Will I know it’s only veggies, definitely. I love the sweet employees that service the restaurant and the lunch buffet is always enough for a satisfying lunch and it’s always cheap. I am obsessed with the dosa that they make and there is nothing better then eating with your hands when you rip the dosa and grab a chunk of potatoes while you debate getting more tofu masala mixture of goodness from the buffet. Love it here and take all my family here for a good vegetarian meal. Try it, prove me wrong that walking out after a meal doesn’t make you feel better.

This place is awesome! Authentic Indian food! We were the only non Indians in the place. Sometimes I’ve felt uncomfortable in places like this, not knowing what menu items are but here is the opposite! Manager explain everything! Helped out so much! Dosas are included in the buffet. He gave extra and even made us a plate of all the proper dipping sauces. Visiting from Austin and found this place by Unilocaling«buffet». Will return! Again, friendly and helpful! Buffet items are all vegetarian! Spring noodles and paneer were my favs!

Good food and great service. Just remember they are closed on Mondays. The place may need a little bit of cleanup. Otherwise definitely recommend. My kids love their paper dosa.

Simple place with a lot of flavors. I heard the buffet was quite good and have been trying to eat more vegetarian. I’ve been there for dinner but not for the lunch buffet. Udupi do not let me down. I tried a bit of everything. It was filling and the flavors were fantastic. This is one of my new Katy lunch favorites.

Love the place very friendly and the Dosa was so so so good! Love the menu there is so many things on there that I want to try out and they have a lot of different dessert sweet also! Very yummy place, I can’t wait to go back there and try more of their menu but so far the dosa was good and the dipping sauce was the bomb!!!

We always go for the lunch buffet at this Vegetarian Restaurant and the manager is always kind at showing us which items are Vegan. Flavorful cuisine including the Masala dishes, Dal, and the Dosas(included in buffet price!) Very friendly manager and service staff! Only concern is the interior that sometimes seems unclean. Stains on walls, torn upholstery and grease stains, etc. Needs to be renovated! We miss the former location that was larger and cleaner on Mason. Much smaller buidling now so hard to maneuver through the chairs and tables.

The food was amazing but the waiter service was a little slow. They forgot about my order and it took 30 minutes for them to realize it. I think this is an isolated and the food was worth it.

I specially went to see the place with family from far away however ended up with a mix experience. Overall some very selective variety of South Indian dishes are well prepared however with bit more attention they could do much better. The place has very old not very clean look which needs serious renovation and maintenance.

I went for the lunch buffet. All vegetarian and pretty good. Indian food is the shizz. My favorite was the potato dasai. Very spicy and delicious! I also loved the lentil or pea soup they had. The service was good and our waiter would come over at times and explain what it was we were eating and the types of sauces they had. I will probably be back. Nice cheap buffet. Also loved the chutney.

Can’t stop coming back to this place. From the Rasam to the filter coffee after the meal, we really like the overall experience. The café serves typical South Indian food; we have tried several varieties of doses, Idli, medu vada sambar, the afternoon buffet and south indian thalis. It’s quite tasty and satisfying.

I was greeted and served like a king. The food variety was amazing. The service was top notch and the staff was eager to explain the dishes to us. We discovered a new to gem.

Tip: Try to catch the lunch buffet. It is all vegetarian though. Food: I am a big fan of Indian food. This place did not dissapoint me. There were plenty of dishes I never tried before including the dosai and the dipping sauces. I am used to going to Indian buffets and getting naan so the dosai was new for me. It was very good and I was there is a potato curry inside. The dipping sauces were all good. There were alot of dishes I never tried before and some i never saw before. Of course being vegetarian, dont expect the chicken dishes(tandori, masala, etc). But they had a Mushroom Masala which was good. There was a donut like bread that i was hooked on. Its spiced not sweet. It was really unique and good! As usual, everything was full of flavor and spice. I know some people seem to have some issue with the food quality and taste. Maybe it was the day i went but everything was fresh and tasty that day. Place: Its kinda small and dark. Its a mom and pop shop. Docor is traditional. Its a clean place. When you walk in you will be hit by the aromas. Some will love it but if you are concerned about your clothes for an afternoon meeting, you may consider another option. Service: Again some people had issues with service but the man at the counter was very friendly to me. I had some questions and he was more than helpful. Even the wait staff kept taking empty plates. Value: The lunch buffet was a great value. Some of the other Indian buffets are a little pricey in Katy but this place was great.

After reading reviews I decided to visit udipi café. Food was okay and service was horrible. The pickle was too sour, dosa was okay and bhel puri was soggy. The management needs to improve service and freshness of food

Very impressed! This is the real deal. My husband and I love Indian food so we decided to give this place a try and we were not disappointed. We got the masala tea to drink. It was just the right amount of flavor. They bring you a little cup of spicy broth to start with that had a lot of flavor to it. Then we ordered a crêpe to have as an appetizer. It was #4 on the crêpe list. We loved it with the sauces. I don’t remember the names of the other two dishes we got but they were equally as good. We could tell everything was fresh and authentic. We strolled through the grocery store next door and it was very clean with a lot of options. any rice imaginable, lots of spices, teas, etc. Everyone both at the restaurant and store was very friendly and helpful.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for lunch for awhile. The first time I tried they we closed; they are closed on Mondays. Man what a find! Small but interesting lunch buffet. A lot of the items I didn’t recognize(possibly a different region?) but I’m an adventurous eater so I tried a bit of everything. Great blending of spices and flavors. Sweet blended with spicey heat, I love samosa but they didn’t have any on the buffet, the waiter went in the back and brought me some as well as some chutney to try. All in all a great fast lunch.

As you step into this vegetarian/vegan restaurant you are instantly transformed into feeling like you are indeed visiting India. The wonderful smells of curry and spices overwhelmed me in a warm and inviting way. Their lunch buffet is small but had about 4 different curries, rassam, and various other Indian dishes. Price is reasonable and the food is on point.

How have I not reviewed this place? Oops!!! Key points: — all vegetarian restaurant. NO meat! Authentic South Indian cuisine. — great lunch buffet! $ 8.99 gets you a choice of Dosa and tons of delicious dishes. — you can get the buffet to go, it’s $ 1 up charge and you get about 4 choices of main dishes plus rice & chutneys. — the owner is there everyday and is really nice! Say hi to Haji! — they want you to have a great meal and experience, service is nice. — the only negative is that I don’t like their restroom! It’s a bit dated/shabby. ignore that and go for the food and service :)
