The only place in town(possibly on the island) where we found vegetarian options so of course we are fans! We were getting some grub before the long hike down to Kalaupapa and stopped in here. We found the bartender(owner?) to be really friendly. We ordered our food and sat down and he came to our table to ask us if we wanted drinks. He also brought us some homemade popcorn! The food here was typical bar fare so you get the picture. A veggie burger and fries, fried zucchini, etc. Nothing to write home about, nothing to complain about. Just a nice, breezy bar where we filled our bellies and chilled before our adventure. We hope to return to Molokai and Kalaupapa some day so will be back to Paddler’s if that happens.

Okay place to get some drink and listen to live music. But for food, meh. To order you have to go in the back room counter. Then it will be served to you. I got the hamburger steak which was okay for me. My wife ordered the mahimahi and it wasn’t good. I could tell it wasn’t fresh and a little rubbery. Next time I would come here just for the drinks and live music.

What can you say when you’re in Moloka’i? At least? The food was okay, nothing fancy. The people though, that’s another story! The«usual» crowd there was so much fun, played pool, drank and just good ol sharing stories– really did make my night in Moloka’i that much more fun!

If you have any other choice for dining, go there. The convenience and lack of other choices of the island probably keep this place in business. Our server told us she doesn’t eat there because it’s overpriced and didn’t recommend anything. We should have taken her cue. We ordered simply due to this(salads, burgers, etc.) but should have taken her cue and either eaten elsewhere or waited until we left the island.

The place has a laid back island beach vibe. The service was great and all of the staff were friendly. We had the fried chicken and mashed potato special with a side salad. The salad was fresh. I am glad that we asked for gravy on the mashed potatoes because that was my favorite part of the dinner. Seating is outside and the only detractor was the flies which were attracted by the smell of our food.

Sorry, I know it’s Moloka’i but no. I can’t give this place extra stars just because it was open late. The food at Paddler’s is plain bad. My friend and I came on a Friday night, they had live music, but the place was still empty. We had the fish and chips, which we could tell was probably sitting out because by the time the food finally arrived at the table, the fries were cooled and soggy. The fish had an off flavor. To boot, the food is on the pricey side for the subpar quality. Hey, I’m not asking for fine dining here but hot food should arrive hot and fish shouldn’t taste weird. That’s basic. We tried other eateries in Kaunakakai and I would gladly go back to any of those. I wouldn’t return to Paddlers. I could also pick up a 6-pack from one of the local minimarts for beer. It’s too bad because I did like the idea of a place like Paddlers, it just didn’t deliver.

My fiancé and I went to paddlers for dinner one night and were disappointed in the quality. I got the bacon avocado cheeseburger which was basic, nothing too special and my fiancé got the fish and chips(he wanted the kalbi and Kim chee but they didn’t have any more Kim chee). The fish was really oily and very bland, the overall dish didn’t have any flavor. Being the only sit down restaurant on Moloka’i you’d think they could bring in fresh fish. Anyways I wouldn’t recommend it, I’d probably go back for beers if there was a live band playing — but when we were there on Saturday night it was a ghost town.

Had an awesome time here hanging out with Michael, the bartender. He was super friendly and told us a lot about the island. Will definitely be back next time I’m on Molokai. Thanks Michael! –Lisa and Annie from Honolulu

Nice outdoor atmosphere but service was lacking. Had the fish and chips, as stated in another review, not very good at all. Not crispy at all, and really no flavor. Wife had the country fried steak. It was passable, but that’s about it. The server was not attentive, but when she did come around she was friendly. As there are not many choices here, I might give it another chance.

Fun local spot. However food is terrible! Ordered fish and chips… Very greasy and undercooked. The fish was still oozing with raw batter. Friend had the shrimp, all heads still on and not cleaned. Service was very slow and not that friendly. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Nice atmosphere, relaxed open space, good drinks @ reasonable prices, we had a great server(«April» on the receipt, though not sure that was her name. A redhead with her hair up and denim short-shorts) and really enjoyed the food. The boneless ribs were DELICIOUS and Fish and Chips just perfect… and no problem whatsoever sub’ing a house tossed salad for the ‘chips’. The poke appetizer was mouth watering and came with a wasabi dipping sauce. We devoured it and could only just hold ourselves back for the fact that we were splitting it and didn’t want to gyp the other person. Best and only sit-down place to eat on the whole island worth returning to again and again. Absolutely no complaints. We whole-heartedly recommend at least giving Paddlers a try. We were very pleasantly surprised.

We went on a Saturday night and the place was hopping with happy patrons and a great band. Although it was about 7pm, we got seated quickly though it was the last available table without reservations. The prices are very reasonable, but the specials had sold out. The food we settled on had large portions and was delicious. We will go back again.

Only three places to get dinner in town tonight and this one was by far the most lively. Bar, pool tables, live music, open air and lots of locals. All the tables were filled when we arrived so we waited about 30 minutes for a table. We noticed that the crowd was all older, like 55 and up. The live music was aimed at the older crowd but it was good, maybe the best thing in the place. The waitresses had tables all over the place so it was hard to catch them or get refills. The food was just ok and if you are a vegetarian you are kinda out of luck.

I got the Teriyaki chicken with grilled veggies and slaw. Chicken and slaw were delicious! Veggies were a little freezer burned… but not a major problem. Sister got the guava margarita and it was AMAZING! Super fun atmosphere! Would recommend this place fo sho!

We got invited to Paddler’s by some local aunties at Coffee’s of Hawaii. With little to do on island, we figured, ‘why not?’ So we met them there the following day. Wednesday night special was local seafood. We also got their in time for Ladies Night, which made all drinks $ 4! Perfect. We sampled some of their garlic shrimp plate, and fresh baked bread. Their drinks weren’t half bad, and at half the price… You really can’t go wrong. They had a live band playing, and one of the aunties got on stage and danced hula while the band played. We had such an awesome night, I will always remember Paddler’s, and those super sweet aunties.

We were so disappointed with this place as we walked out after waiting so long for a waitress to acknowledge us. It was our First time here. We didn’t know whether to sit ourselves or wait for a hostess to sit us down. There were no signs to let us know. We noticed the locals and others arriving us being served right away. we were ignored. I even went up to the bar and asked for a menu and sat back down. They didn’t even ask if we needed to be served. When we stood up and left, we noticed one of the waitresses picked up the menu I had asked for on the table. Other than that, It seems like place to go to on that island for music, drinks and food. But to be treated like we weren’t even there, just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Obviously I Can’t comment on the food…

Probably as good at it gets on this sleepy island. Food was good. Hubby and I stopped here to drink a couple of times for fresh pints while we were in and out of the main town. We had the avocado burger twice, which was super delicious at $ 11… and that was the only thing we ate. Service was average– as I would expect some a low key area. No one is in a rush and if you are on the island. you should not be either :)

Cold beer, great burger, local caught Ahi, range fed steak, island pork sandwich, very good prices for beer and food, sports TV at the bar but no sound. outdoor dining, stage with authentic Hawaiian music like Lono homegrown da kine, dancing sometimes, should be a weekly show on the internet«Moloka’i Live». as this is the last«Hawaiian» island. Pool tables, free wifi, bathrooms. did I mention. great burger and $ 4 beers. Good atmosphere, friendly service in town center.
