The Chinese Cemetery on Kauai is the most sacred space on this stunningly beautiful island. The dirt is red sand. The gravestones are from more than a century ago. Sun-bleached white shells litter the ground. You feel honored to visit this place where people of Asian descent used to have to segregate themselves, even in death. It’s just a hundred meters up from the amazing Glass Beach on the dirt road and more than worth every single step.
