Ordered the 3 Meat plate with Ribs, Brisket and Sausage. Ribs were good. Sausage was good. The Brisket was dry and tough. I loved the Corn Fritters.

Occasionally you have cravings that won’t subside until you take care of them. Recently, my brothers, cousins, and I had cravings for BBQ; our lunch from earlier in the day left us largely unsatisfied so we were desiring massive amounts of meat to compensate. The problem was none of us were willing to go far from where we were. Then there were some of us who weren’t willing to go out at all. As a result, we ended up ordering a bunch of BBQ from Up N Smoke, picking it up, and having the bingefest at home. Because of this, the food got cold so I’m going to chalk up some of the issues to that. Only some though. 1. The ribs were dry; not dry as in dry rub seasoning, I mean they were not that fun to eat and they certainly weren’t of the«fall off the bone» variety. I threw away a couple without eating all of the meat because it didn’t even seem worth my time to fight with it. They didn’t taste bad, just it was way more work than I was wanting to put into something like eating. I’m lazy. I was wanting food stuff to fall into my food hole and it wasn’t. Okay, maybe not that lazy. Yesterday, I had ribs where I was able to pull the meat from the bone with a flimsy plastic fork. The Up N Smoke ribs that I had would not have done that. 2. The other meats were pretty good, although my favorites were the pulled pork and the sausage. What can I say, I like pig. The brisket was also a little bit on the dry side but slathering it in BBQ sauce took care of that. 2. The sides were stingy, like they were using the tiniest of ice cream scoops to provide us with a variety of things like the mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. All of the sides tasted fine, although my favorite(and everyone else’s) was the corn fritter, thingamajiggers. They were amazing. And I hate corn, so that makes them even more amazing. Although I guess I should mention that they were battered and deep fried, and I have yet to eat something that is battered and deep fried that I don’t like. 3. The prices… seemed reasonable? It was a lot of food that was ordered, and it came to approximately $ 100.00. After 16 – 18 people went caveman on the food, there was still a fair amount of leftovers. There seems to have been some e-drama on this Unilocal page though, which is always fun for me because I enjoy watching people fight on the internet. I just wish I had more of the corn thingamajiggers to munch on while I watch the owner comments come through.

Up N Smoke is a Keller institution and a must try for people new to Keller. If you like sausage, try the black pepper sausage, it’s ‘out of this world’ good! Also, if you want something different, try the smoked Catfish, just fantastic!

Now I might be a lil biased — why? ’cause this is my «neighborhood» bar — now the food is really good — the brisket tacos on Tuesday — are just. sweeeeet! actually, any food I’ve had there has been good. But — the place? well, full of good folks, good friends, and visited by lotsa good folks rumbling down that road from Roanoke ta places south… Oh, and the staff? They take good care of ya, whether they know ya by name, or whether they don’t(and it won’t before long before they do know ya by name). It’s just a good spot — a comfy inside, a little spot kinda outside, no smoking if ya want it too — after all, it ain’t ALL«Up-in-Smoke!»(OR smoking, or vaping, if ya might want that!) — oh, and did I mention fun music? oh, and did I mention parking? try it, you’ll like it. Been there a long time — that says SOMEthing, doesn’t it?

The BBQ here wasn’t that good. It was very lacking in the flavor. I am only giving this place two stars for their Smoke Jalapenos. The only reason I would return to this joint would be for some more of them. They were great. Bacon wrapped, Mesquite smoked & hand stuffed jalapenos filled with brisket & cheese. I could eat a couple of orders and be happy with the meal.

Ribs, Ribs, Ribs. Love the Up n Smoke Baby back ribs. This is our destination for baby back dry rub ribs. They are competition worthy as they gently pull away from the bone when you take a bite. The flavor is smokey but not too heavy. We usually get the Adkins rib plate as it comes with a salad and ½ rack. The service is always great and managements attention to your needs is always nice.

We order take out from Up in Smoke about once every two weeks. It’s our recession-era eating out splurge. I’d guess that we have ordered take out about 5 – 6 times in the last 3 months and EVERYSINGLETIMETHEORDERISWRONG. In times past, the management has kept a note to give us free green beans or free mashed potatoes the next time, but it’s no longer worth it and almost comical at how poorly they prepare and pack the order. ”Oh! I messed up your order the last time!” the girl explained when we called yet again. So if you want chicken and BBQ that’s on par with Dickey’s or any other commercial BBQ joint, Up in Smoke isn’t a bad option. If you order take out, just dig through and open every container before you leave. If you eat in, you’re at least treated to the ambiance of a 1960s smokehouse with occasional live music. It’s like a $ 5 haircut. For the money, it’s a great deal. But there are a million other better options out there.

On Tuesday it’s 1 dollar tacos, 2 dollar domestic beer schooners. Yippee! Best $ 1 taco ever! So the choices are hamburger beef or brisket. Just to be fair, I ordered two of each. The hamburger was good, a tad salty, but good. It had that classic«taco seasoning» taste. The brisket blew me away. Obviously brisket from the smoker, it was delicious. Served with a spicy green sauce, it was the best«cheap» taco I’ve ever had. I also tried a brisket taco with a little BBQ sauce, and that was quite the taste sensation. Tacos are available soft or crispy. I went crispy and was surprised that the taco shells were actually warm. It made quite a difference. The $ 2 domestics was a tad confusing, as apparently some beers are more domestic than others. Shiner Bock, all the way from Shiner, Texas is domestic. Rahr, from the far away land of downtown Fort Worth is not. More options lend equal confusion, but when you pair this with $ 1 tacos, who can complain? Certainly not me.

Not so great; lacks flavor. Not surprised it closed.

Terrible! First when you walk in, you have to walk through the smoky bar to get to the non smoking section. We had a brisket sandwich(greasy and tasteless) and the pulled pork dinner(greasy). The only thing that was decent were the instant mashed potatoes and the frozen then fried corn nuggets and fries. Will not eat here again and will not recommend. $ 30 I can never get back. Go down the road to Spring Creek.

Disappointed. This was the 2nd time here(the 1st was last Sept.) and the food quality has gone down the drain. The brisket was so dry and hard it was inedible.

This is a great spot for non transient crowd. Live bands starting at 8 on Friday is a treat after a long week. Good food too. Smoke em if you got em.

Beware all you whiners!!! This is a smoking bar! If you don’t want to smell like smoke and piss and moan read the signs! «This way to non smoking entrance» So anyone that says anything about smoking can’t read so ignore their complaints. If you visit the bar you will be smoky so either don’t visit the bar or stop whining. I have been on a quest for great BBQ for a while. I found a good place for ribs and tater salad. The ribs were fall off the bone with a nice bark that was sweet and smoky. The service was pretty good, the waitress was attentive, fast and polite. The wife had a smoked chicken salad which had plenty of moist and smokey chicken with a large portion of spring mix lettuce. Since this place has been around for a long time I would suggest pulled pork, brisket or ribs. The samples of each were more than acceptable. I don’t think they are going to be the best in the world category but the food was fresh, decent portions and flavorful. And usually if a person can’t spell«steak» they should order something fried and review local fast food places.

The cute country town diner ambiance of this place is fit for a movie set, but the food won’t be winning any Oscars. My brisket had flavor but was dry, and my Mom’s ribs were all fat. The corn fritters were ok, mashed potatoes were better. Our country waitress, tan, young and pretty with a slightly big butt and too much makeup kind of summed up the whole experience; made you look, seemingly no depth but okay for a quickie.

The special non-smoking entrance was a little odd, but the food made up for it. Excellent food, not exactly traditional BBQ, but the brisket, pulled pork, and pepper sausage were all tender and tasty. All the sides were equally well prepared and the price overall wasn’t really all that high. Their sauces were just OK and they only have three choices, but that is hardly a deal breaker.

Don’t waste your money. I’ve tried this place a few times, always with great regret. The last time was Saturday for lunch thinking maybe it’s improved and we’ll give it another try. Very bad decision. The reek of disgusting cigars wafted over the entire«non smoking» area. There is no door between the cigar smoking weekend biker bar and the«non-smoking» area — so of course it stinks. I think it must be a permanent stink since we could not actually see smoke in the air. Service was — as usual — terrible. It’s a seat yourself arrangement and you have to hope someone happens to notice you. After we were overlooked while several tables who arrived after us were waited on, I walked over to the wait person at the register and asked if I could give her our order. I was as nice as I could be because she looked busy, but we got attitude the rest of the meal. Sigh. I saw my plastic dressing container get dropped on the floor and put back on top of my salad. I had to scrape off the top layer of an already tiny, wilted salad. Gross. The pre-prepared BBQ took way too long to get. We were about ready to leave when it showed up cold and tasteless. As with previous visits, it tasted like dried out leftovers. The ribs others have raved about are always dry. After all this, we shouldn’t have paid for an inedible meal, but we did and chalked it up to being dumb enough to try this place again.

This little barbecue spot is right down the road from our house. It’s a cross between a family barbecue hole and a biker bar with live music that’s actually like a fun garage band jam session playing lots of your favorite songs. We usually sit away from the music with our kids but if we ever go without them, I definitely plan to sit closer. Either way, you hear it, so if live rock music isn’t your thing, you might not like it. We’re from Georgia so keep in mind, barbecue tastes are different everywhere you go and I’m sure this applies here as well. - First off my Georgia taste buds really enjoy their pulled pork sandwich basket and half sweet potato. It’s a nice little treat. After seeing so many rave reviews, I recently tried their ribs to find that I am less than enthusiastic about those. They’re a bit dry and not nearly as flavorful as other ribs I’ve had. So on those, I will take a pass! I am still looking for any barbecue place around here that offers Brunswick stew(I won’t hold my breath), but in the mean time, this satisfies my cravings for barbecue and has a nice noisy, fun atmosphere.

Décor, smeckor. Clientele, schmientele. If you get one visit in your life here(east of Fort Worth, TX), try the RIBS. I don’t even pay any attention to the rest of it. I hear that they have nice brews there. If you told me there were 6TV sets playing when I last went, or a live band, I’d say, sure, fine — now, may I have more ribs? They have a flavor I’ve never found elsewhere, a subtle sweet like — I think — cherry. Yeah, sounds pukey but trust me on this and try ‘em. I know taste buds vary. But if your DNA has the same taste genes as me… O M G. I’m had my share of «deeply religious experiences» with ribs in my life. Calling any the best would be dead serious and certainly fightin’ words for many — so I tread very lightly here. I won’t vote them as world’s best ribs. Just, for my particular taste buds, the best tasting ribs I’ve ever eaten. Who’da thunkit, from this relatively unknown semi-out-of-the-way little place.

I’m in the 20 something(hopefully not extremely pretentious) age group and I have to say that my fiancée and I both enjoy Up in Smoke on a regular basis. Our favorite choices: Smoked turkey(to die for) Wings Stuffed Jalapenos(his choice) For sides, we both strongly recommend the corn fritters and teh baked sweet potato. I like the side salad because its a simple salad and I enjoy the cheese on my salad. I love the live music they play on the weekends as well. Service is nice and friendly and the atmosphere is very comfortable
