A friend and I walked in at 11:40. We were told they don’t open till noon which I’m fine with but never was asked if we would like to wait or something to drink. Told the girl that’s fine we’ll go to Jackies with no response. We live here and will not be back. Good luck waiting for summer business because your not building off season clients.

Wonderful spit for an afternoon snack and a beer. They have a great beer selection with choices from any local craft breweries. The are very friendly too. Comfortable quaint place.

Stop here for a quick lunch. I ordered the pork belly tacos. Wow. I had low expectations because other than the half dozen bar flies the place was empty so I was suspicious but haven’t had such a great lunch in a long time. Everything on the menu was two steps above bar food. Highly recommended.

Unfortunate evening. Because my husband and I have been here many, many times and were treated with the utmost courtesy and respect. But for some reason tonight the bartenders preferred to practice their pirouettes and ignore us. At first I thought it was an oversight so I gave them the benefit of the doubt, even though there are all of about 10 people in here. After finally making eye contact with one of them she makes it halfway to my end of the bar and then turns around to address and joke around with someone at the other end of he bar. I wait patiently while she leaves him to wash glasses, thinking again that she just didn’t see me. Then she starts talking with someone at the other end of the bar and making their drinks. My husband finally gets gets her attention (mind you, she was RIGHT IN FRONT OF US) and she looks me (not my husband) in the eye and says «I will get to you when I’m finished with this gentleman’s drink.» I was astounded. Then she tells me «I don’t know why you looked at me like that, I wouldn’t intentionally ignore you.»
WOW. The couple next to us were just as confused. So disappointed with the lack of customer service. I won’t be back.

Before coming here please know that this place doesn’t have any restaurant seating with a full rectangular table with chairs.
It’s literally bar style with wall seating, bar seating and a small bucket table.
I was shocked to find that out when I invited my sister and Wayne here.
Anywho, for the food:
I ordered the Mother Klucker with tater tots. Mind this, this place isn’t cheap. However, my chicken sandwich was very tasteful and wasn’t that fake processed chicken that they have in McDonald’s chicken nuggets.
it was real chicken breast and I tell you what that chicken had a big rack. The breast was marinated all throughout the meat, so flavorful and plus it was cheesy.
I’m just glad they had mustard which made the taste bounce back and wow, my tastebuds were doing some rain dances.
The tater tots were fried in some fresh grease, crunchy and crispy. Yum!
Now our bartender, Kelly wasn’t so nice. She assumed we weren’t gonna tip her and when I went to go give her the tip money she looked at me as if why are you here and what do you want. and said uh thanks.
She didn’t believe that we were of age to eat there and that’s after we showed her our ID’s.
She kept demanding us to pay even after we received our meals, but hadn’t eaten yet. She was rude.
Before we ate, we paid her. Even after Kelly was off her shift, the other guy behind the bar was friendly.
Also, the parking situation wasn’t good. It was very limited.
Therefore, the food is delicious, but Kelly is horrible.

So awesome! Went there for the first time last night. Everything was so good! Beer, fries, tacos, burger, and service. The bartender was great, couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Absolutely can’t wait to return! We want to try everything

I was in town all week for work and spotted the rave reviews for Skallywag and decided it would be a great to try. I don’t know if I caught the place on a bad night or if this was a rare experience, but I would not come back here again.
A co-​worked and I came on a Wednesday night to grab dinner and drinks. The first impression was good: authentic feel with tons of beer on tap. Once we sat down, our good first impression went downhill. We sat at the bar, with about 4 others, and literally waited for 15 minutes for the bartender/​server, Felicity, to acknowledge us. She was talking to the cooks the entire time and never came over. So, I nicely approached her and asked if we could get some service at the bar and received a hasty look & reply that she didn’t see us. I let it go and we both ordered food (tacos and a wrap) & drinks. Felicity started a conversation which turned unprofessional, ever for a bar, very fast. We learned that she had been working 2 weeks straight and needed to get off and have a drink, smoke some herbal remedies, and have a night of adult fun to unwind. Wayyyyy too much info. She even laid on the bar floor to show us how tired she was… it was just odd.
Fast forward 40 minutes later and still no food… apparently Felicity decided to have a couple drinks (we saw her take several shots) and forgot who ordered what, although there were about 5 of us there. By the time it was figured out & we got our food it was cold. We decided not to complain, pay our bill and go somewhere else. I will say that the tacos were delicious, the beer variety was on point, but the staff choices are miserable.
By the time we were leaving, another bartender came and looked like she had a great handle on things. Thank goodness she came, because by this time Felicity was definitely the most inebriated person there.
Based on most of the other reviews, horrible service isn’t common there. Maybe we just came on an off evening… but it was so bad and awkward that if I lived in the area I wouldn’t come back.

One of my favorite spots/​bar in Kemah to hang out. Customer service is always great, (shout out to Kelly & Charity) the food & craft beer selection is good. Also, they have great daily specials & prices are reasonable. Everyone is always nice & friendly, I always seem to meet new people here.
Just a run down here: This is a bar, no smoking allowed, very limited seating, not good for groups, no table wait staff, you have to order your food & beverages from the bar.

Stopped in last night and had a blast, great beer selection, awesome bloody mary’s, food was good, live music was good too.

Admittedly, all we had was a couple beers here — but the atmosphere is great, authentic, and inviting. Food that others were eating looked great, and from the expressions on their faces, it must have been pretty good. We’re going to come back and feast next time.

More of a pub and less of a gastro pub. The beer selection is good and the tacos I had were pretty good. It’s just more of a drinking place and less of an eating place. Not somewhere you go for dinner, but somewhere you go for good beer

I am a former Chef, I have cooked in the most rustic to the most refined of Houston kitchens. One thing we neglect to consider is that in our reviews we have to consider and analyze the level of food we are being served, in what kind of setting and the resources available to the owner/​cooks/​staff.
I come here regularly and I can honestly admit that the food and quality of service being offered here is way better than a lot of so called top Houston Gastro-​Pubs. The burgers are out of this world, the appetizers are well constructed and executed each and every time. I live 30 minutes away from this establishment and I go out of my way to drink and socialize there. People like me that know the industry learn to appreciate great food and great drinks when we have them. I definitely recommend Skallywag if you want to have an amazing night with great food and drinks, go with company or go up there alone. you will find the staff and people super friendly. pay a visit, you will not regret it, I assure you that you will come out of there with new friends ha ha!
PS I would recommend a specific menu item but it would be an insult to all the great food they serve, just randomly pick something… its a win win…

Awesome pub. Cool place, but a pirate theme and no seafood? I’m a little disappointed at that but otherwise pretty cool.

On one of our day trip excursions Christy and I turned our focus to the Kemah Texas region, utilizing Unilocal*to scout the Boardwalk. Our mission (as usual) to find good food, interesting staff and well prepared drinks within the area.
Skallywag’s was our first stop and usually the one we are most critical of, as we tend to have a few drinks throughout the day. In doing so we allow ourselves to relax and not be as critical to every little detail.
Ultimately it did not matter in this case, Skallywag’s became am instant favorite! The food was AWSOME! The staff polite and attentive, with a vast menu of import, domestic, and craft beers. Being a full liquor bar there were also plenty top shelf mixed drinks to chose from as well.
My beer (tap) was served at the perfect temperature and drawn correctly as to obtain the perfect head of suds. Christy chose the Vodka Tonic and assured me her mason jar served drink was not only delicious but buzz worthy as well!
We decided on sharing a medium cooked Moose-​knuckle Burger and an order of Parmesan Tots. The Moose-​knuckle (we had the Elk) is seared in duck fat and was simply put, a must have! The tot’s were as equally good and a nice filler if you care to share a burger.

This place is fine, but almost all of their beers come in half pints for some reason. These are not super high octane; just want a proper pint. The staff is fairly friendly, but if you are not a regular, it may take a little bit longer.
Bloody Mary with the house infused vodka is very tasty.
Good neighborhood bar with golden-​tee and big buck.

Gastropub Heaven! I love Nobi, but this place is even better!
The food is shockingly good and the customer service is as good as it gets. The bartenders are extremely helpful (Irvin and the tall chick are my personal faves… but they’re all good) and know their sh*t.
Nobi is a little bit cheaper but I gladly pay the premium for the coastal ambiance Skallywags provides. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Great place to grab a beer and a bite at Kemah. Nice selection of beer to choose from. Servers know about product especially Irving. Try the brisket burger and the pork belly tacos truly excellent.

Starting coming here the day they opened. It’s our go to bar. I can say we have met some really awesome people here. Great Bartenders. Great owner and all staff period. We moved here not knowing anyone and so happy we met Swervin, Ricky, and Kaitlyn and Mr. Demetrios! We will miss this place and the food. Thanks for so many great memories. Blackouts, great beers, and Jose Cuervo. Ha
The people here make it special!

Great place to make a party with a group! Throw some money in the jukebox and have a good time. On the boardwalk! Bartenders are great! Open air place with no smoking inside!
