The food is great here but the environment is disgusting. There is always napkins and dirty trash all over. It would be great if it was clean… I never have any problem with my order and the food is always awesome. Just create a better environment for your customers.

I don’t know why anyone would go to Taco Bell if u live anywhere close to Taco Tico. I’ve been a customer since the late 1960’s when several of my friends worked at the veterans/Clearview location. The owner, Alan?, runs a tight ship. I love their tacos, enchiladas, and Cinamon crustos. On Sunday’s after a Saints game. …my wife & I usually drive out to Kenner for Taco Sunday. An unreal 59 cents ea! Yes over the decades there are at time service issues(to be expected with min wage personnel) but overall the food is consistently outstanding. This 5 star rating is obviously for a fast food taco.

Love Taco Tico! Been going here since 1991 when I first found them in Magnolia, Arkansas. Sadly they are no longer there and these restaurants are closing left and right with the latest casualty being the Metairie location. I really don’t understand it although the Metairie location was not taken care of at all and was quite run down. Anyway, great food. Much better than Taco Bell. The enchiladas and burritos are delicious! I always get the mexican dinner with a taco, burrito, enchilada, beans, rice and chips. Can’t go wrong. I hear the taco burger is really good but haven’t tried it yet.

Yes, 5STARS! Fresh and delicious food! Don’t let the older looking building and 80’s décor keep you from this jewel. The prices are about the cheapest around and the staff is awesome, very friendly and nice! The Deluxe Nachos are outstanding and my go to, but everything I have eaten has been better than any other Mexican restaurant I’ve been to! No-pretentious good food is their specialty and they do it well!

I have been eating delicious Taco Tico food for over 30 years. So glad the Kenner location is still open. We live in Baton Rouge now and my husband stops and brings home tacos, sanchos and deluxe enchiladas when he goes to New Orleans. Don’t forget the peppery hot sauce!!! Yummy! Hope this place never ends!

Here is why I love Taco Tico. The EN-CHIL-A-DA sauce baby! I have tried my fare share of tex mex restaurants in the area and none of them can serve up a cheese enchilada better than the Tico. The food is unapologetically cheesy and mexicany(its a word) The Veterans location has closed so we must keep this one alive! They seem to be doing pretty well during lunch though. Long live Taco Tico!

This place, wow! I’m kind of confuse about all the good ratings on this place, because the food was disgusting. The meat didn’t have no taste, or season! I’m not sure if it was real ground beef. I rather eat Taco Bell. This was my first and last time going there. I waste my money and time. Never again! After I ate that food, I was sick as heck. Maybe they did something wrong, but my taste buds never lie. This food was crappy!

This is the last standing Taco Tico in the area. There used to be one in Metairie and one in Slidell, and I do believe many many years back there was one in New Orleans right by the old Pit Theater. This place beats Taco Bell hands down every single time in food, flavor and service. Where they fail, and the reason for the 3 star review is that their hours really suck. They close very early, really limiting my ability to go there. I work evenings and usually don’t leave work until after dark. If they extended their hours this would easily have been 4 stars. Still though, if you catch them during the day, they are leaps and bounds superior to Taco Bell.

For some of you wonder why I gave this joint a higher rating than some of the other taco places within arms reach of this stop? Some of you read how I grilled«Don José’s» and«Tacos El Gordo» with less than flattering rating? It’s not that Taco Tico has a better menu, ambiance or impeccable service than the other places… but wins me over is its unpretentiousness. Taco-Tico isn’t trying to be «authentic Mexican», because it’s not Mexican. On the contrary and far from it, Taco Tico is straight up gringo food. man. If you grew up in Jefferson parish in the 80’s, Taco Tico was the place. Karate Kid, Van Halen, Top Gun, Duran Duran, stoned washed jeans, big hair, Taco Tico! All part of the same time capsule. The original location on Vets. closed. This is the last one. It’s fast food; processed food with processed ingredients(don’t kid yourself). But its cheap and its fast. Taco Bell without the huge corporate funding. This one has video poker if you’re feeling lucky and they have a jukebox if you get tired of the awkward silence. The menu is basic but good. I recommend the #2 combo which comes with Sancho(burrito without the beans), two hard shell tacos and a drink. I added a «Texas Enchilada».All for $ 10 plus tax… can’t beat that. Now if you want real Mexican tacos I suggest«El Arriero» which is a block up on Williams. Although for burritos and gringo tacos, Taco Tico is the spot.

I love Taco Tico… the place has great prices and good fresh food. I agree with some of the other reviewers that their green chili sauce is fantastic…

Tried the Sunday .69 cent taco special(someone eating there said it recently use to be .59 cents?) Agree with most other reviews… salsa is good, also liked the salsa bar, tacos were better than expected for the price except the meat did have a little mystery to them… not sure what kind of meat they use or if they mix it with something but definitely did a double take after the first bite. Place is a little retro with a lot of teenagers working there so expected the bare minimum, I don’t care to be here or about your food and that’s pretty much what I got… everyone else there seemed to fall in line with it so guess that’s «the usual» there. I’ll probably go again and maybe try something besides the tacos but wouldn’t go out of my way for it.

Similar to other fast food Tex-Mex, but way fresher food and a little less expensive. The green chili sauce is killer.

I am not sure that their ‘meat’ is even meat… But what I do know it is: a laxative. Seriously. Run. Fast.

The best Taco in New Orleans bar none! The hot sauce has a rich taste that is unique regardless of which heat level you choose.

Honestly this place is delicious! Im not big on Mexican food so I pre-judged the place to have disgusting food especially when I saw the outside. Yo my shocking surprise this place is the and then more. Lol. I paid $ 14.19 for Meat Lover Quesadilla, chicken quesadilla, a small drink and the double beef enchiladas. I in no way felt like I wasted my money. I am stuffed and let me just say the Meat Lovers Quesadilla was my favorite f everything I bought. I am in love witg their Green Chili Sauce and I just know I will be back at this joint. I’m not a big fan of enchiladas but their sauce was pretty good. Also there is high school children that work their so just be patient with them. The service was speedy, and there’s a drive-thru too. Definitely check it our. Cheap food good stomach quencher of hunger indeed!

This is the place to come if you want fast, super cheap tacos. The tacos are good, and even better with their special sauce…

If you like to go to the bathroom immediately after you eat then this is the place for you. I ordered three tacos for lunch and to say it was disgusting is a total understatement. My stomach cant handle this place, not going back.

I loved taco tico and their sanchos but the last 3 times ive gone my Girlfriends tacos were stale And on one appearance the apparent manager who looked like a 16 year old kid with glasses popped his head out the door at 9:23 and said they were closed as we pulled up to the drive thru wth. 9:23pm really that’s an odd time please get your stuff together taco Tico and new management

I love Mexican food! Heck why not? It is simple food that is simple to make too: Taco: Put the beef and cheese on the tortilla, and fold tortilla in half. Burrito: Put the beef and cheese on the tortilla and roll tortilla. Chimichanga: Take your burrito and deep-fry it. Taquito: Take a little beef and cheese and roll tortilla… and fry it. Quesadilla: Take a lot of cheese, maybe some beef, fold tortilla in half, and grill it. Enchilada: well you get the idea. Now that you all know how to use two ingredients to make numerous different items let me tell you that the sauce is what seperates Taco Tico from their competition. Their sauces are great from their mild to their green chile sauce. Taco Tico today still looks like it was built for the 80s. The interior looks dated(because it is) but the food is what keeps the place open. They have great items here like their taco burger, enchiladas, quesadillas, and tacos. Remember how to do it… get some ground beef, cheese, some lettuce, tomato, and a good sauce. Throw it all in a tortilla and roll your way to happiness.

People say this place is a dump. The décor is not current, and I can see why people would say its a dump. BUT, I really like the food. I keep going here. I cant explain it. Normally a moron is working at the front counter, hopelessly devoid of any modicum of training. They have no idea what comes in each item, they cant use the register, they have a lost blank stare as they press random keys on the register while the cook yells up the directions for operating the register. They play with their cell phones, and say«what?» alot. They have to ask you 5 times what you wanted to drink, and the place always smells like pine sol. When you finally get your order, and you sit down, all that melts away. There is something comforting about the food. It tastes good, and I love the sauces. The Volcano sauce is so good and so hot, it gives you a head rush. Taco Tico is my guilty pleasure.
