I had to write an update for this place as the food has been 100% excellent on every visit and I could not let the one bad waitress ruin what is the best sushi restaurant in the area. I eat here at least once a week because it is that good. This is like a sushi buffet, except they make each roll fresh for you at the highest quality. If you have not tried this place you need to come asap. The bad waitress works Mon-Wed-Fri so I go in around those days and the staff is great.

I really hate to write a bad review… the bottom line is– don’t do the all-you-can-eat sushi because most of it is deep fried low quality junk. Of course I’m the sucker for expecting better from a suburban all you can eat sushi place. But if the sushi doesn’t make you physically sick it may cause depression the next day when you think about how you ate so much of that garbage.

Ok so the first time I went here the service was not good, our sushi was not what we ordered so we where not pleased at all. But a few weeks went by and we decided you know the food was good so maybe we should try again. So we went back and we had a different waiter and it all went flawlessly! So I would recommend sushi yu for sure! And if you like sushi a lot the unlimited option is great for the price.

Just great. I visit very often and this place is way too empty for how delicious it is. Everything is great. Sushi pizza is amazing

People always note that it’s really quiet in here. I’d say that’s the only unchanged quality since their initial opening. So, I actually started coming here when they first opened in 2015 but the degradation of experience has prompted me to leave this review. Sushi Yu initially had great grand opening specials/discounts and the staff was so friendly and took time to get to know your tastes and recommend items to you. When the specials went away, it was still worth coming back. Why? Because the sushi was actually really good! I was so glad that decent sushi had finally come to Kennesaw given that I am more into nigiri. I always ordered sushi regular which consists of an assortment of nigiri, a california roll, soup, and salad(although I always subbed out my california roll for another roll for a minimal fee). The nigiri was always sliced thick and the rolls had a great rice to fish ratio, for me that means less rice and more fish. Sizes of portions were standard. For months I ordered this and it was always consistently great. This Sushi Yu was was a solid 4 star experience. But suddenly something changed. About a month ago, I went back and ordered my usual. The sushi is now definitely on the smaller size. My sushi regular had meager portions of nigiri that barely covered the rice and my roll was loosely made and very very tiny, not even close to a standard size. I returned a week later only to experience the same disappointing sushi. Needless to say, the friendly wait staff had been weeded out as well as their standards… seemingly replaced with a lunch buffet option. Buffet sushi isn’t my thing but just fyi for those who enjoy it– they have it. All in all, its not terrible. I’ve just known it to be significantly better. Even with small portions, I’ve never had poor quality fish so I suppose it is A-ok but if I could, this would be a 2.5 star rating. I would now recommend this place for popular fusion saucy rolls.

Had a great experience here! We ordered the fried gyoza and fried calamari for appetizers. For sushi we had the Salmon Nigiri, Alaska Roll, Cartepillar Roll, and Samurai Roll. Everything was delicious and service was good. It was a bit pricier than other places in the area for example the nigiri costs 2 $ a piece compared to 1.50 $ usually everywhere else. Rice and fish was perfectly balanced though and the fish was fresh and melted in your mouth, therefore I did not mind the price. Will come back again.

My wife and I stopped by today because of the 4 star review. Unfortunately, we have unreasonably high Sushi standards because of a small chain in Washington State called Trapper’s Sushi(a MUST eat if you are in the Seattle area). It certainly wasn’t bad, but there was nothing to make me want to come back. The service was great and friendly. The restaurant was clean. You will probably like it… unless you’ve been to Trapper’s Sushi.

The sushi was good, a bit on the small side. The habachi was ok… The rice had an odd taste to it, I didn’t even eat it after three bites. I had a pick up order I’m not sure if that played any role in it . The staff was very friendly and they had my order ready in a very timely matter. The price was very similar to other restaurants of the same type. Over all it was a decent meal.

Came to Sushi Yu on a Thursday afternoon with a friend and it was empty… That never worries me cause sushi places aren’t usually packed… But we were seated and we ordered very quickly. We ordered shrimp tempura rolls, salmon rolls, spicy carb rolls, and mango lover rolls. It was to die for ! Very fresh and like i said no wait because it was empty. It was my friend first time having the shrimp tempura rolls and he doesnt like shrimp tempura but he loved the rolls so we ordered it again. I will definitely be back to this location ! PS i left full and my pockets weren’t empty so that’s always a plus!

Amazing sushi. Good selection of sake. The sushi here is on par with any of the big places inside the city. They would have gotten 5 stars if the staff looked more presentable/professional. We had the sexy lady, spicy girl, and volcano with rice added. All 3 were as good as it gets.

This is my favorite sushi place — They have the freshest sushi in Atlanta, and the portions are very nice, I use to go to a couple other sushi places in Kennesaw and I felt bad that I left them for Sushi Yu– so I went back to be fair and yuck– I’m ruined. I work in Buckhead so I have access to a number of sushi places/some of which do have a livelier and better atmosphere. But the sushi is not as good or fresh. The sushi Yu Botha are nice and private! I eat here 2 – 3 times a week. Yum!!!

One of the worse sushi in town!!! 1) over price sushi and others food in menu) 2)low quality on food(they use cheap low quality salmon and steak) 3) bad guest service by general manager(he doesn’t care the concern of request or complaint) 4)bad atmosphere 5) do not get trick by them in groupon or social living(there is no fine print, just read the title(sushi dinner not include anything else in menu or drinks, there is no specify area to tells you) 6) owe by rule chinese 7) you might get sick afterward pf the foods(me and one of my friend went there and got sick after 45min after leaving) Conclusion eat there at your owe risk!!!

Delicious. So glad we found this place! We used to frequent nearby sushi restaurants, but stopped when we were paying crazy prices for mostly rice. Not here. Rolls are great sized, full of what you are paying for, and the correct amount of rice. Can’t tell from the outside, but the interior is very well done. The service was excellent, and the appetizer and sushi came out quicky. Got the Wasabi Roll, Crazy Tuna Roll, and two smaller rolls. Appetizer was the peppered tuna. All of it was delicious, but that peppered tuna and Crazy Tuna Roll. best sushi I’ve eaten. Mid range in price, but worth every penny. Sushi — YUM.

Omg, delicious!!! This is DEFINITELY my new sushi restaurant! Lemme just say the sushi chefs here know what time it is. As far as cleanliness goes the restaurant is impeccable:) Sat at the sushi bar and watched everything that came out. I just kept asking«what’s that? And that? And that? Gimme one of everything!» Our server Joe was the utmost in professionalism as was the entire staff. Found Sushi Yu through my scout mob app. $ 15 off your 1st $ 30 on the check. Nice. Checked Unilocal reviews 1st(duh) & true to its 4 ½ stars, this place has got the goods! Clean, new, modern interior with no clutter. Friendly hostess, excellent service, freshest sushi possible! Go…now!

My first visit to Sushi Yu. My experience was certainly not great but not terrible either. First, I really appreciated the fact I was able to order online directly through Unilocal(super convenient!) while I was out on a shopping trip during my lunch hour. That way when I was done shopping I was able to walk in, pick up and head right back out to get back to work all within my allotted lunch hour. Now for the food. I had a Rainbow Roll(crab, cucumber, avocado inside, tuna, whitefish, sliced avocado on top) and a Dolphin Roll(tuna, salmon, yellow tail, avocado, masago wrap with kombu paper). The presentation was fine. Nothing fancy. No extras. Unfortunately the fish was just ok. It didn’t taste super fresh which made my lunch disappointing since I was looking forward to finding a new sushi place since I recently relocated. :( That being said, I would be willing to give them another shot. I believe in second chances and everyone has a bad day every now and again.

Tried it for the first time today. –customer service is horrible: no one mans the door; no smiles and no welcomes upon staff arrival –not kid friendly; waitor didn’t offer child seat –sushi rice is not wrapped tightly; not flavorful, needs more rice vinegar for sure –fish is dry and old – see picture –philly roll has a smokey flavor — minced salmon — plain weird –waitor never refilled our drinks –décor mismatched –barely any eel in the dragon roll Kuroshio will continue to be our fave!

I went here last week with some friends on a Wednesday at about 8 pm. I know this is a bit late for dinner, but the restaurant was completely dead until about 10 minutes before we left(and then, only one other group came in). This always makes me wonder how these places stay in business! The food was good and the prices were reasonable, but there was nothing particularly exciting or interesting about this place or the menu. I will say that the food came very quickly, which was nice.

I’ve only been to this restaurant twice, so here’s my review from both occasions… THEENVIRONMENT: The restaurant is small but very nice. They have authentic Asian music playing in the background and its very well lit as far as the lighting. CUSTOMERSERVICE: I love the staff. They are always friendly and make you feel like you’re their number #1 customer when you come in. KNOWLEDGEABILITY: anytime I had a question about anything in the sushi roll, the waiter/waitress always knew exactly what came with it in order to answer my questions without having to go back into the kitchen to ask the cook… QUALITY: from both times that I’ve been here the sushi has been really fresh. I love the presentation on the plate also when they bring the sushi out to you. They are really creative with it. PRICE: The prices are really good for the quality of food you will be receiving. It is very affordable and you get a really nice portion size. WILL I RETURN: Yep, because third time is always a charm… Even though the first two were also
