Hands down the best burger out there! Depending on the day/time you may be in for a crowd. Roll with it, it’s so worth it! Everyone and anyone I have ever taken there becomes addicted! Mac n cheese is over the top delicious too.

My girlfriend and I stopped in for dinner on a Sunday. Exceptional food — we went with the Greasy Caveman Portobello Mushrooms, Kittyland Shrimp and chili instead of burgers. We also took home an order of the Mac & Cheese for a family member. Everything was exceptional, we can’t wait until next time when we can try the burgers. For that matter, their whisky/scotch list was one of the best I’ve ever seen — maybe we’ll take the train up so we can imbibe. ;-) A nice laid-back pub environment, very comfortable.

My friend is a Carthage alum and took me on a mini food tour of Kenosha a few weeks back. Sufficiet to say, I think I gained 4 pounds at Captain Mike’s alone. After a massive breakfast at Frank’s, we decided to just split the Shopping Cart(beef burger stuffed with mac & cheese, topped with velveeta and peppered bacon). I could actually feel my arteries hardening and I enjoyed every minute of it. Service was a little slow but it was an extremely busy Saturday afternoon so it was to be expected. Great fries, awesome atmosphere, incredible menu(as long as you aren’t counting calories this week).

My husband and I have visited Captain Mike’s several times and have always had a wonderful experience. Today I took my best friend there for the vegetarian burger because, well, she’s a vegetarian! She really enjoyed it! Love all the beers on tap and the bartenders are always helpful with any questions.

Awesome burgers. My favorite is the Sunnyvale with the thin cut fries. Absolutely delicious. Best burgers around.

Definitely a great place to go and I always recommend. The burgers are great and I always build my own. I always suggest the«schmear«of peanut butter. Down side: it really can vary based on the cook. The fries home cut fries are really drenched in greese. Upside: If you are drunk who cares? Tricks: Go early if you are wanting a couple drinks with a meal. After 5pm the place is very popular and the ambient noise becomes very dreadfull. As it becomes later the kitchen remains open. Great drink selections. Wide variety of beers and great whiskey.

AMAZING atmosphere from this cozy bar… A+ for the beer and liquor selection. Burgers were good, but coleslaw wasn’t to my taste, but everyone likes coleslaw differently. Coming again soon!

Kickin’ burgers. If you get a burger with bacon choose the peanut butter smear, it was so worth it. Our server forgot one of the burgers so some of the dining companions were grumpy, but I wasn’t. Full bar and great beer list. Only complaint is how noisy this place is. It was hard to hear each other and the distance across the table wasn’t that big. Would recommend if you’re in the mood for a big burger, and you want many options.

Okay this is the best beer and burger joint I’ve been in in awhile. A really good(and cleverly named) selection of «stuffed» burgers. Good choice of sides. And the list of Scotchs, and Beers was fantastic.

We were in Kenosha picking up friends from the train and decided to get dinner at Captain Mike’s, not knowing anything about the place. When we got to the entrance I saw a sign advertising«TONIGHT: CHEESEBURGERANDLIQUORPARTY.» Pretty sure somebody here is a «Trailer Park Boys» fan. …LITTLEDID I KNOW. This place is 100 percent«Trailer Park Boys» themed. The menu confirmed that, with burger names like Never Trust a Man With No Shirt On(which I ordered), the Bobandi, Samsquanch, etc. At this point, I liked Captain Mike’s, regardless of how the food or service was going to turn out. They committed to the theme. Ordering style is like AJ Bombers: You check off what you want and how you want it cooked on a sheet of paper. You can order your burger with«pink» or «no pink,» but I’m not sure it makes a difference, because my «pink» burger came out well done. It was still pretty good, but the twice baked potato salad stole the show. Huge number of craft beers on tap. We didn’t have a dedicated server for our table or section — you flag down any server walking by, or periodically someone might check on you. When we got in, we were told to go to the bar if we needed something and couldn’t locate a server. The service didn’t bother me, but if you want a sit-down meal with a more attentive server, this isn’t the place. I don’t spend much time in Kenosha, but next time I’m back I’ll happily don my finest houndstooth button-down shirt and head to Captain Mike’s.

Service is consistently absolutely horrible. It’s never clear through which hoops you have to jump to accomplish any of the normal dining out tasks. Beer menu? Better sneak up on another table and steal theirs! Drunk Kenoshans are mean though so be careful. As for ordering, good luck getting a server’s attention. You might have to hand your menu to someone at the bar who will then hate you forever. And if they actually get your order right you should email me and tell me what sort of obscene favor you did to manage that. Food is usually pretty good but not always.

This place has a cool atmosphere and a decent amount of taps, but unfortunately that’s where the good things end. I ordered a veggie burger that was on the menu with avocado and pepper jack cheese. My burger came out no avocado, no cheese. I decided I could live without the cheese, so I only asked the guy who came back, wasn’t my burger supposed to have avocado? The response, we don’t have anymore ripe ones and the kitchen didn’t tell us early enough. So instead of someone coming back out to ask«would you like something else», I get served a burger without one of the key reasons I ordered it. Bummer #1. Bummer #2 — I ask if I can at least not be charged the difference since a build your own would have been less without avocado & cheese. I was told their computers cannot do this. I was given a half filled punch card as a sorry, which I don’t live in Kenosha so that’s not really helpful. Instead I was told when we said we don’t live here — give it to someone else then. So long story short — food is okay, but if there is a problem expect the worst customer service aka why I’ll never be back.

This is our second time going to Capt Mike’s and unfortunately it wasn’t up to par as much as the first time. We met our friends there and it took a very, very long time for someone to acknowledge them, even though I told our server we were expecting two other people well ahead of time. She also forgot our one friend’s drink order twice. He didn’t seem to mad about it(or maybe he was and he just used the alcohol to calm his nerves). The burgers were extremely tasty and fresh, and the thin fries were good, albeit pretty salty. Imagine my surprise when I went to pee and saw a giant mural of sexy George Constanza. That alone would make the trip out there worth it. They have a very good beer selection and are very reasonably priced.

I came across this burger place last year 2014 and could not stop thinking about it for a whole year. We come to Kenosha for baseball tournaments so I was happy to know that in 2015 we where coming back. I absolutely love the Kobe meat packed with whatever I want. I just can’t stop talking about this place to all my friends in Chicago. This is a must when in Kenosha.

Captain Mike’s has an interesting and varied menu of mostly burgers with different toppings. The food is very tasty although mine was served cold and when I mentioned it there was no follow up from the staff. The others in my group had good, hot food. The beer list is extensive although they had a listing posted on a chalk board and many were unavailable. They did provide sample tastings upon request, prior to ordering a beer. The atmosphere was vibrant and loud but fun. Ordering the food is by filling out a menu form and handing it in. For our party of four the food arrived in two groups of two although all request were submitted together. Ordering beer was also a challenge and confusing — sometimes table service other times from the bar. Overall a fun, quirky experience

Truly the best burger and Mac O Cheese I have ever eaten. The kitchen is part of the bar and therefore small so be prepared to wait a while for your food. There is no wait staff however when you sit down a bar tender will take your drink order. Find a stack of order forms — should be at your table or the bar. Fill out and hand to a bar tender. People with children — This is a BAR not a restaurant — children can accompany there parents. The parents must be over 21 and you must be the child’s legal guardian.

Students of Carthage College rejoice that this place exists. «back when i was in college…» there definitely was no gourmet burger spot like this, that offered the best local Wisconsin/Illinois craft beer scene. In fact there was not much of a craft beer scene at all! 3pm on a Saturday and this place was shoulder to shoulder with college bros and super tan babes. you could tell who the locals are here by their affliction shirts and fake leather jackets paired with baseball hats. The goatee seems to be the facial hair of choice for the Kenosha male. the burgers are great. really good meat, though the topping combinations fall short of what is offered at Kuma’s Corner, or Lockdown(my personal fav burger). i had the one with thick cut prosciutto and Brie cheese. the fiancé got the one with caramelized onions, mushrooms, Swiss and Chedda. Of course she ordered a side of Cheese sauce which turned out to be a soup bowl filled to the brim with multiple cheese infused drippy, chunky sauce. fries were overly seasoned with salt and pepper in a good way, and the blue cheese side salad was surprisingly good as well. It’s definitely worth the drive off the highway. Captain Mike’s is a reason to come back to Kenosha. this was our first time in K-Town and i’m really looking forward to a summer-time day-trip there to check out there beach scene. and have this be our meal ticket before heading home.

I had never heard of Captain Mike’s until a friend told me about them last summer. We had tentative plans to visit, but since I was already in Kenosha to try Franks Diner, I decided to hang around Kenosha until I was ready to eat again. The owners have multiple locations with various names, like Uncle Mike’s or Mike’s Sportsbook and Meat Bar, but the one that I believe is the best known or most popular is «Captain Mike’s Beer & Burger Whiskey Bar,» so they have a lot covered in that name. Captain Mike’s is a bar, not a restaurant, but their reputation includes great food. Because it is a bar, no one under age 21 is allowed inside unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. There is a sign that states so. They offer a lot of craft beers on tap and in cans and bottles, but I skipped the beer on this trip. The open flame grill is behind the bar and the guys working the grill were busy. I found a pad of sheets on the bar and figured out they were order forms, similar to the forms found at AJ Bombers in Milwaukee, so I knew what to do. When I was at Franks Diner, I asked a guy what he recommended I get at Captain Mike’s. He said«you gotta go with the Kobe beef and I like to get the Shitty Bill.» A nearby server at the diner heard his recommendation and agreed that the Shitty Bill was also her favorite. So guess what I ordered. While the guy at the diner prefered the«thin fries», I saw house fresh cut fries on the menu, and I’ll almost always pick those over frozen fries, as long as they aren’t cut into wedges because they are no longer«fries» to me at that point. The Shitty Bill($ 10.95 plus $ 1.50-$ 2.00 upcharge for the Kobe beef patty in 5 oz or 8 oz) is topped with onion straws, pepperjack cheese, avocado, and a horseradish mayo. It is not shitty at all! It’s delicious! The toppings were well-balanced so no one flavor over powered the others, yet I was able to taste all of the toppings. You can order the burger with pink or no pink, that’s it, nice and easy. I ordered pink and it was cooked as I requested. The Kobe patty was well-seasoned and the bun did not fall apart as I feared it would with these toppings. The burger was actually pretty easy to eat and not really messy like I thought it would be. The house cut fries were darker in color than I like from being cooked in «dirty» oil, but they were seasoned assertively, not aggressively because that sounds bad, so I enjoyed them. They were also slightly crisp, so no soggy fries. There are appetizers to choose from and you can also build your own burger, but there are a lot of different specialty burgers to choose from for different tastes. That seems the way to go for your first visit, at least. The staff was friendly and helpful even though they were busy. I would definitely go back to Captain Mike’s and Im comfortable recommending them to you.

The best burger in Kenosha. Make sure to get hand cut fries. Walks the line between dive bar and restaurant pretty well. Great tap list of local and regional craft beers. Great selection of scotch & whiskey

This is the classic«I wish I could give it 3.5 stars» review. So I’ll take it from the beginning. I love the atmosphere. The walls, the beer taps, the fish tank, the vending machines, etc. This place has its own style and makes no apologies for it. I have all the respect in the world for that. The female bartender was very nice and offered to give me a sample of some of their 30 draft beers. I requested two and she brought them pretty quickly. I ordered one of them a little bit later, but she apparently forgot. So I had to drink water with my burger and fries. I’m sorry, but how do you forget a beer order if you’re a bartender and the bar doesn’t hold more than 15 people? Another complaint, the menu. It’s changed quite a bit from the online version. Now there are more options, the 10 ounce burger is now an 8 ounce burger, and prices are actually higher. This needs to be updated. We actually started with soups. I had the beer cheese soup. Very cool that they served pretzel rolls with it. And they don’t skimp on the portions, it’s a lot of soup! Great quality bacon, very cheesy, and very satisfying. The lobster bisque was tomato based and came with a shot of sherry, a pretty cool idea. I was told it was okay, though she prefers a creamy base. However, we waited 10 minutes to get our soup. I’d had maybe three tastes of my beer cheese soup and… out come the burgers! Hello kitchen, let’s work on our timing! Anyway, I had the cheeseburger walrus with cheddar and swiss, mushrooms, onions, and horseradish mayo. Half a pound of grass fed beef, char-grilled. There are so few places that char-grill burgers now(what is the obsession with the flat top?) and I give this place major props. The roll was soft, the burger was juicy, and the toppings were great. Really good burger. Of course, they forgot that I requested bacon on it as well… they are forgetting both bacon and a beer??? And the fresh cut fries… sweet Lord, thank you. Thick cut, a little peppery seasoning, crunchy exterior. Excellent fries. Here’s the deal, folks. This place has some great positives, but I had to deal with quite a few negatives that I wasn’t happy about. I would come back though since the burger is just that good. I live two hours away, but I’ll give them another shot one of these days.
