Amazing deli, Italian groceries, beer selection, outside food, and cheeses. Must check it out!

Do you like booze? Cigars? Italian food? Hate to cook? All these and and more are reasons for heading out to Tenuta’s I won’t try to tell you what all they have, I find more all the time(been going there 30+years). Just go, trust me you have spent more time doing way more stupid things.

Best deli ever! I love that when I exit the building I smell like garlic! Ha ha! Love the food choices both fresh and packaged. The cheeses are to die for… Will always come to Tenuta’s for the best Italian everything!

Detour I was first here some years back and have been wanting to stop again. They now have a sign on the highway, but it’s at least a 5-mile drive so totally not convenient but worth if it you’ve got some time to spare. They’ve got a lot of Liquor going on here, but the Italian deli/market is awesome! Lots of food in hot and cold cases, made-to-order sandwiches, paninis, and ready to bake pizza/pizza crust.

Tenuta’s is awesome! Staff is always very friendly and glad to help out. Their meat and liquor variety doesn’t measure up to anyone else in town. I specially love going during the summer when they have the grill going!

Amazing delicacies from Kenosha and around the globe. Lots of amazing ingredients to cook up your own gourmet meals at home at very reasonable prices. When you don’t feel like cooking they always have amazing meals ready to hear and serve freshly made.

We ordered take-out Italian beef for our family Christmas gathering yesterday and it was amazing! Easy to cook — just threw the meat and juice in the crockpot and let it heat up for about an hour!

I honestly cannot praise Tenuta’s enough. I discovered this place during my senior year at Carthage College and only wish I had more time with it before I had to leave. Tenuta’s selection of beers and wine, especially imports, is truly incredible. The deal on buy 1 get 1 free wine allowed me, as a poor college student, to try out some of the more expensive Italian wine and impress my friends and family with a nice bottle. I also would come here for some Italian liquor like limoncello or the grand selection of olive oil and other Italian cooking ingredients in the market portion. For any of your Italian cooking needs, Tenuta’s is the only place for you!

Really good food and lots of beer and liquor variety! Also, make sure you check out the part of the store that is past the deli counter(west). There are so many spices(fresh and in containers), peppers, cheeses, and all types of goodies for cooking with or just eating now. Usually the cheapest place in Kenosha for beer or booze, unless there’s a limited sale going on somewhere else. Hot cashiers too! ;-)

Came here again. What else can I add to my previous reviews of Tenuta’s? Not much, So I took a couple of pictures. Great Italian foods selection. If your looking for it, they have it, Great Muffaletta sandwiches. I would eat them all of the time and be 500 pounds if I lived closer. Cheers to All

This place is awesome, fresh deli, pastries and pastas! They have everything Italian. When I heard about this place I thought umph… Probably overrated. Nope, it lives up to the hype! The Italian sausage and spinach panini was delish

There aren’t enough superlatives in my vocabulary to adequately describe how much I love Tenuta’s. I live nearby, and I’m probably in the store four times a week. Ralph Tenuta and his entire family and staff treat you like you’re part of their family. That’s probably why this is the one of the great Italian groceries in the Midwest. For such a modestly-sized store, the array of high-end meats, cheeses(a terrific selection), groceries and beer and wine is simply staggering. Parma prosciutto(I’ve tried to get Ralph to carry La Quercia from Iowa, but the fish weren’t biting), house-made sopressata, genuine Mozzarella and a great selection of salamis are just a few of my favorites. I know people who swear by Tenuta’s roast beef and au jus. The seasonal hot dog stand is a stand-alone reason to go for their Italian sausages and brats with a huge selection of toppings(eggplant is my favorite). In Tenuta’s grocery section, I buy all of my imported Italian pasta, olive oil, San Marzano tomatoes and imported and Wisconsin parmesan(hmm, real Parmigano Reggiano or Wisconsin’s Stravecchio Parmesan? Tough call – they’re both great). My wife shops there on Sunday for their frozen soups to take to work in Chicago and for San Pellegrino soda. I swoon in the beer aisle. Woodman’s probably has a larger stock, but come on, that’s warehouse not a grocery store. Tenuta’s beer selection, considering its space limitations, is tremendous and everything is priced competitively. If you go there as much as I do, you’ll also find close-outs in a shopping cart that are usually gone in a few hours, like 12-packs of Sam Adams Oktoberfest for $ 4.99. The wine selection is quite good, albeit a little expensive. They do have an interesting collection of «two-for-one» wine closeouts, along with a full selection of liquor. The deli counter is probably the centerpiece of the store, and it’s a zoo on weekends. Even the selection of candies and nuts is outstanding. I inhale their spicy, roasted peanuts and their salted cashews. If it’s high quality and hard to find, Tenuta’s probably has it. If they don’t, they can probably get it for you. If you’re a foodie like me, this is ground zero in Kenosha and beyond. If you’re a regular like me, in your heart you know I’m right. If you haven’t been to Tenuta’s yet, what are you waiting for?

We stopped in after our trek to the Kenosha Harbor Market today. We got a couple of grilled Italian Sausage sandwiches with sweet peppers and a side of giardiniera on our way in. Very tasty, only minor complaint was the sweet peppers were cold, and by cold I mean refrigerator cold. We meandered in the door and got a cart. It is a little maze like in there the first time you go in, but I did figure out the layout wandering around without a cart while my wife got some stuff at the bakery. I think I might have either given up or missed a portion of the store if I had to navigate the narrow aisles with the cart. Their selection of goods, both food and alcohol wise is pretty amazing considering the size or lack thereof of the store. While the sausage sandwiches outside were good, I think next time we go, I am going to forego the grilled options outside and venture inside for a panini or a meatball bomber.

I made a serious mistake and brought my husband here. For years, I’ve kept this as my secret supply house for special treats. I’ve created a monster. After stripping the deli bare, he hit the pasta isle, then the bakery for home made cannoli and Italian cookies. I found European candies I haven’t had since I was a child living in Germany. Then after selecting wine and getting to checkout and thinking I’d finally make it outside in time to try their restaurant, nope, he sees the wall of cigars. Missed the restaurant, maybe next time…

Excellent service I had gotten the mortadella as well as some thin sliced salami and then got an amazing hot Italian beef sandwich to go. I like the fact that the Italian beef is thicker sliced than most places

I’ve heard people talking about Tenuta’s for several years. Friends and strangers alike have been recommending that I visit. So I did. I walked in with the thought of browsing but wasn’t planning to buy anything. That plan failed. There is a deli, sure. The food looks good and they make paninis and home made Italian sausage. I tried a link and I thought it was good, but didnt have anough of the spices and flavors that I expect in an Italian sausage, like fennel seeds for example. I didn’t see one, nor taste one. Other than that the link was good and the roll it was served on was fresh, but I was stil full from breakfast, so I just ate the link with a bite or two of the roll. It wasn’t worth the $ 4.39 price in my opinion. The rest of the store, however, is where the 5 star rating comes in. You like wine? They have a lot of it for you to pick from. You like craft beer? They have a lot of it for you to pick from. You like cheese? They have a lot — well you get it. They also have a lot of great ingredients for making great Italian dishes, as well as non-Italian dishes, and many of the items are imported from Italy! Some of the items are made with Tenuta’s own brand, including their home made pasta. While you won’t find everything you’d find in a traditional grocery store, you’ll find more selection of the items that they do carry. Further, I thought the prices were very reasonable, for the most part. I now have something to compare Milwaukee’s Italian specialty grocers to.
