Coming from north Chicago I wasn’t sure if this place would be worth the drive. I wasn’t disappointed. The overall theme of the place was awesome, you could tell that they had every detail planed out. The food, well let’s say this, it’s not very often you find a place that stuffs their burgers and you have multiple options to choose from to stuff it with along with choosing other toppings and sauces you might want. The amount of options that they had could’ve been bigger but that’s minor. Decided to sit at the bar during my visit and asked the bartender what their best local beer is to the Kenosha area and she really surprised me, she knew the different types of beers and everything about them. The only negative part of the whole place was that the bartender was running around taking care of everybody there trying to eat, I think they’d be solid if they had one more person to help out.

*** The reason I am giving this place only 4 stars is because they are cash only, it’s an inconvenience, but they do have an ATM inside. My husband and I chose this restaurant based on the fact that we are a little bit addicted to hamburgers and it was a great decision! As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and immediately offered a drink. The bartender then handed us menus(which are actually more than just regular menus). All of the appetizers are listed and every topping/sauce/cheese you could think of for a burger was on the menu. They’re really interactive, you write your name on the top and put a check mark(or circle) the menu item and toppings, I really liked that idea. Our appetizer arrived really fast and my husband loved it! It took about 20 – 25 minutes for our burgers to be ready. There were about 15ish people in the bar at the time and only 1 bartender taking care of everyone. While we were eating, clients behind us had just gotten their food. One of the two began yelling at the bartender because they only take cash, «there should be bigger signs». Despite that, she kept her composure remained calm throughout that conversation and took care of everyone and still managed to have short, personal conversations with us. Plus she REALLY knew the difference between the beers they sell. I am really impressed with this little gem. The food was great, the service was EXCELLENT and we will definitely be back, totally worth the almost 1 hour drive from North Chicago.

We stopped in to check the place out last Sunday. We were starving but wanted something to munch and have a cold beer. The two bartenders were nice, quick and easy on the eyes. They had a decent craft beer selection on tap and others in bottles. The beer is served in Mason jars. You order your food by filling out a Service Ticket and handing it in. We had the pepper jack cheese bites and the poutine. As others have stated, the prices are a bit high, but not outrageous. The poutine was wonderful! And a large portion. The cheese bites were good. Just a heads up, ITISCASHONLY. We plan on going back and trying more of the chow.

Came in for my birthday. Took 15mins to get service. Asked for purple navels and a jäger bomb. They were mixed already in and that didn’t look like a purple navel. First bar on my 21st, very disappointed

We recently visited The Garage after a friend recommended it to us! Their burgers are AMAZING, you create your own burger on a «shop sheet» you pick what you want your burger filled with and what side you would like. They have a full bar but drinks can be pretty pricey. This is a cash only restaurant. I gave it 4 stars because of the seating, I have a family and there are only high tops available which doesn’t work when you have 3 young children.

Best stuffed burger and Parmesan fries ever! Plenty of craft beers as well! Time for a cig and I don’t smoke

Free bingo night every Wednesday(nice surprise for the kids). Not a very big place but food is excellent. Stuffed burgers with lots of options to put inside and on top. The homemade kettle chips were delicious. Beer was cold which is always a plus! Another great local place we’d return to if we ever come back to Kenosha.

Great atmosphere. The concept behind how you order your food is fun. They have incredible burgers, especially having the ability to build your own is a great way to change things up. That also have a pretty good beer selection too for those craft beer lovers.

Been here a couple of times and I gotta say each time the food keeps getting better and better. So far I had the El Camino burguer and the Chicken sandwich and both have been absolutely delicious! Appetizers are really good, fries are yummy just a little soggy. I had their fried brownie bites with ice cream and Oh my Gosh was it delicious! The staff is all so nice and very efficient. Three things that I didn’t really care for are 1. Cash only 2. Rather small place 3. Not a large selection of drinks. But even with that, still one of my favorite bars in Kenosha. Hate to compare it to Capatain Mikes but the Garage offers friendlier service and better food.

Everything I thought it would be…1st off, the guys behind the bar were great, 6:30 on a Friday nite and they were busy, but still took time to go over the IPA’s they had, never waited for another beer even though it was packed, me and the wife both had build your own burgers and both agreed the best burgers in K-TOWN, this place is a bar, not a lot of tables, wouldn’t bring a kid myself but I’ll definitely be back, also I would upgrade to the parm and garlic fries, very righteous, kettle chip for free were fresh and good but the fries rocked, damn that was a good burger, the coleslaw was good but tiny portion, like others said… The pickle rocks, mmmm garlic

Excellent wait staff. Our waitress was energetic and fun. Neat atmosphere and one of the best burgers I have ever had. Will definitely be back again. The stout beer was delicious(Ten Fidy… yum!). The stop exceeded our expectations. Thanks for the good time and great burgers!

My wife and tried The Garage after a Kenosha News reader poll listed it in the top three. Good call. The burgers had a nice char from the flattop, a Paelli’s Bakery bun, and I really liked my stuffed burger with chorizo sausage and Chihuahua cheese. The menu has some creative specialty burgers, especially the stuffed ones, along with an extensive array of «build-your-own» options. Several interesting sides and even a dessert or two. On the«must-try» list for next time is the poutine and the pork shoulder. The Garage’s Poutine, a dish not seen much around here outside of the Ivanhoe in Racine, Wis., has bacon, along with the traditional fries, cheese curds and gravy. A limited selection of craft beers on tap(served in jelly jars, by the way), but they have quite a few in bottles. The service was outstanding and very friendly. As other reviewers have notes, The Garage is incredibly clean and well lit. Like a lot of other Kenosha bars, don’t judge this one by its outside appearance. This is a nice place, very easy to like and certainly one of the top burgers in Kenosha, Wis.

Burgers are decent. They haven’t perfected stuffing a burger yet. Patties split apart and then it just makes a huge mess. Fries were okay, I prefer a more fresh tasting fry. Seems like their oil doesn’t get changed very often. Bar prices were normal. Not very car or garage decorated for being called the garage. Theyve got like 1 hubcap on the wall. It could definitely be better.

Found this gem via Unilocal — we were in the area & suddenly starving. We started with the jalapeño poppers… a basket of round balls appeared & we quickly realized these were not the typical frozen bar food version! Our bartender explained they are made on site with chopped jalapeños in cream cheese & a light breading — fantastic! Not at all greasy either. But then our burgers & fries arrived… the fries are perfection!(Save the fiesta ranch from the poppers for the fries!) We shared the El Camino — stuffed with chorizo & sliced avocados on top & the burger with mushrooms, Swiss & grilled onions. They were cooked perfectly! Even the pickle on the side was good. lol Bathrooms clean, service great & we will definitely be back. Didn’t think the cash only option was an issue & our burgers did not fall apart nor did the buns get soggy —(we read all the other reviews). We did not order a beer but they have all the standards plus lots of craft options. Awesome find!

It was good. we liked the music and neat bar setting. I had the chicken it was nice and moist but it made the fixings slide off because it was thick. Jump start burger if the week had bacon cheddar maple syrup and an egg it was great

This place has the BEST food and GREAT service! Love the fact you can build your own burger. Mine beef burger stuffed with pulled pork and topped with slaw, onion tanglers, bacon and tomato! Ooh and you have got to try the garage nachos by far my favorite!

Stopped in here for the first time on the way home to Chicago area from Road America. Perfect end to a fun day! Burger options were extensive & great, beer selection very good. Casual atmosphere, a little snug for space inside, but with a back patio good for nicer weather. We liked that they had auto programs I. The tvs while we were there, hope that’s a consistent feature. The menu was fun to read through & order from. I had the El Camino & the BF had the Tool Shed. Yummy option for fries included sweet potato & Parmesan garlic. Great place to stop. We’ll be back!

Pretty decent bar food here. The house burgers all looked good & you can create whatever you want. The bartender/waitress was friendly & we didn’t have to wait very long for our food. They have some unique beers on tap so you don’t have to stick with the typical watered down stuff. The food is a little on the pricier side i.e. $ 10 burgers(fries are an upcharge) but again it’s solid bar food. Only let down was they swapped out the stuffed burger patties my wife & I ordered… I cut down into mine that had a fried egg on top so there was yoke everywhere. She’s not a fried egg eater, so swapping patties back wasn’t an option. Pretty big bummer… They discounted the check $ 2.70 for the mixup, so at least they did something. Would’ve been nice to have it the way out was supposed to be. However that wasn’t meant to be… I’ll definitely be back to try it again.
