Between the scones and the eggs with potatoes on the side it is a hard choice — so last time I had both. Delicious! Don’t be confused when you arrive and it looks like a pizza place. The place isn’t fancy but during the morning Pete’s serves up a simple menu of outstanding eggs, pancakes and scones.

I almost feel like I’m being a bit generous with 3 stars. First, let me say that the options for decent breakfast spots are few and far between in Kensington. Yes, there are places around which I won’t name but they’re all pretty lousy in both service and food. So when I read a write up of Pete’s and how spectacular his breakfast was I had to try it out! My first experience was OK, not great. The service was good, not great. The food, was decent yet not«spectacular». The prices, you can’t go wrong here!(Hence, the 3 stars). Now let’s get to the nitty gritty. The seating, to be fair this place is a pizza joint by day, don’t expect ample seating. However, with that said, I’m confused as to why this place allows large parties of kids leaving anyone else who walks in to either wait(on kids no doubt!) for them to finish or just leave. I did the latter on my second trip there. This was a deal breaker for me since I feel like I’m always having to wait for those large parties of kids here in Kensington/Windsor Terrace. Well, I just didn’t want to give up on this place. It’s super close to me and oh, I forgot to mention that they have organic coffee! So I ventured out to give them another chance and arrived at Pete’s just before 11am. Hey, I’m good right? The sign says it serves until 11:30am right? Wrong! I was told that while they could make breakfast for me, they couldn’t «allow me» to be seated because they had already started opening the pizza side. Last straw! Why not change your hours to 11am with«take out only» until 11:30am? And is there any way to limit the table size to say 4? I understand people need to take their kids out too but when it’s their kids and their kids’ friends and their friends… you see what I’m saying. Pete, keep up the decent breakfast fare and excellent coffee but please take a look into these criticisms with an open mind and not just your usual Unilocal nut job. Needs for Pete’s: Ample seating(limited party sizes) and Clearer Hours(sending people away before your closing hours is not good business).
