A small batch roaster with a large coffee selection, from Peru to Ethiopian coffees, from light to dark roast. Friendly hospitality. Pour over, French press, and night brew options.

My favorite place to purchase coffee in Kent! I mostly get whole bean but they’ll grind it however you need it for your preferred brewing method, no coffee snobbery here. I have yet to try them all, but I especially love the Espresso and Black Squirrel blends. They have great coffee accessories including pour-over sets and grinders plus now they feature some nitro cold brew which is like *BLAM, In Your Face!* with high octane coffee deliciousness. Move out of Kent but craving your favorite brew? Get a coffee subscription!

First off, the coffee was delicious. It wasn’t burnt and it wasn’t bitter. I was ordering coffee to go for my company and so I needed a carafe. The owner recommended a blend, brewed all the coffee, loaded me up with everything I needed to serve to a big group, and had a conversation with me. This place is great, the service is spectacular, and the product is unparalleled.

These young men are Coffee masters! Many choices of beans and all are better than the other and is by far out of the realm of 21st Century thoughts of what a good cup of Coffee should taste like. I was on business in Akron for several days and on my next trip i’m staying in Kent just to be closer to the place

Very nice selection of roasts but I thought the coffee I had was not brewed to my liking; it was very weak and didn’t do the flavor profile well. I don’t get to Kent often anymore but would be willing to try this another time on my next trip in… But for now I’m not sold.

Design: Bent Tree is small enough that little design is possible, but the space they have is very well executed. The typical raw design of third wave coffee shops is ever present in Bent Tree. There are about three seats in the entire area so this is a place where people go to only buy coffee. Not a place where your mom and her friends come to sit around and be charmed by the atmosphere. 9 out of 10 Quality of coffee: On par with the big guys, or almost. They roast their own coffee in house using mostly single origin selections. Brewing is done either with a pour-over or French Press. Occasionally cold brew is happening too. 18 out of 20 Price: Cheap, considering the quality of the coffee. A 12 oz. bag of beans cost from 12 to 15 bucks. Much cheaper than most. A cup of coffee isn’t a bad price either. 10 out of 10 Baristas: My experiences with the workers have always been good. Helpful people from what I’ve noticed. 9 out of 10 Total: 46 out of 50

Amazing espresso!!! No more Starbucks for this guy. Scribbles down the street uses their coffee too if you don’t want to make your own. Highly recommended!

Bent Tree has the best coffee! I went with my brother most recently, and he said: «You can’t really go wrong with a place that roasts their own beans.» That’s the type of place Bent Tree is. Everyone that works there is extremely helpful and knowledgeable about their coffee. And guess what? They’re not pretentious! They always have a variety of single origin beans, but they also have unique blends. I always take home a different bag of beans because I want to try them all! You can also get coffee by the cup, order a pour over, buy merchandise, or get some gear for making/drinking coffee at home.

The blends just get better and better… the latest… PB&J! No oils or flavors added… a variety with a fruity taste… one with a nutty taste… and a third with the aroma of bread… an amazing cup either hot or cold! Worth the trek to Kent to get a fresh brewed cup… but super easy to pick up a pound at Heinens now!

Bent Tree Coffee is the best coffee roaster in area! Let me explain why. First off, before I start kissing some major butt I want to point out to everyone that this is more of a store than it is a coffee shop. They do have one table with a couple seats that allows you to sit down and enjoy a cup, but don’t plan on meeting a group of friends here because they cannot accommodate. Parking is sometimes scarce but that shouldn’t deter you. Now, back to the butt kissing. Their coffee is hands down the best coffee you can find in this area! They import their beans from lots all over the world and they roast them right there in the shop. You can actually watch them do it. The variety is quite impressive. As a connoisseur of coffee I can tell you that these folks take great pride in their product and they never hesitate to help you find a bean that fits your taste. I think the owner is the guy who’s sporting the Jesus beard, he seems to always be there and on top of everything. If you’re a true ‘Yelper’ like me and you visit a lot of restaurants, you’ll notice the best places will hang a sign that says«Serving Bent Tree Coffee». There’s a reason for that, their reputation in the area is so well known that restaurants brag about serving their coffee.(i.e. Nosh Eatery, Taco Tontos, Tree City Coffee Shop, etc.) Their prices might seem kind of high but that’s relative to grocery store prices. They’re actually on par with other local coffee roasters, like Muggswigz in Canton. Although I noticed that Bent Tree doesn’t tell you when they roasted the coffee you’re buying. At Muggswigz they will sell you a bag of coffee at half price if it stays on the shelf longer than 10 days. Maybe that’s something Bent Tree should consider doing. If you’re a real coffee connoisseur and you’re looking for the perfect cup, come out and support these guys, they deserve your business.

I have traveled the world and this is hands down the best coffee I have ever had. WARNING it will ruin you on drinking any other coffee! The employees live, breath and sleep coffee, they are dedicated to finding the finest crops of beans, they perfect their roast off hours, when perfected they deliver it fresh to you.

I wish I could give this place ten stars! It’s one of the finest coffee roasters in Ohio if not the midwest. Fantastic service. My wife and I have tried several of their coffee’s and favor the Black Squirrel Blend. One of Kent’s finest establishment.

What an amazing place! The two owners work tirelessly side by side, roasting their own gourmet blends of coffee. You can buy the beans or ground. Doesn’t get any fresher.

Helpful staff. Flavorful(not flavored) coffee makes you realize just how fantastic coffee can and should be. You will end up gulping down your cup before you know it. I reserve 5 stars for special places. This place is 5 star worthy.

Best cup of coffee. I do not consider myself a coffee snob by any means. I will drink it from Speedway or Starbucks. However at home I like to grind and press my coffee. Realizing a locally owned place was roasting beans I headed out to give them a try. The guy was friendly and answered all my questions, even a few dumb ones. I got a pound of the Papua New Guinea Dark Roast. Seriously the best coffee I have ever had. I can’t wait to go back and try some different beans.

You can’t go wrong with the passionate dedication to daily small batch roasting. The gentlemen at Bent Tree have done the research to provide the highest quality in fresh roasted coffee. The locally owned establishment creates a rustic contemporary atmosphere with modest appeal. They are focused on roasting coffee and educating patrons on the process. You can enjoy Fair Trade Organic Ethiopia or Guatemala roasts as well as Burundi, Sumatra, and Columbia roasts. Soon to come are personal grinders and french presses along with other accompaniments to enhance your coffee experience at home. Bent Tree Coffee Roasters also has fresh brewed hot coffee and intricately cold brewed coffee to purchase by the cup. You can enjoy the integrity of their roasting process immediately. Bent Tree also encourages the traditional cupping process synonymous with authentic coffee roasting. What can I say the proof is in the beans!
