Champion Arms Shooting Range

My boyfriend and I came here on a Sunday to use the Groupon I had gotten him for Christmas. It was both our first times shooting, and the gentleman who helped us get signed in, went through safety and how to load and shoot a gun was extremely encouraging and helpful. When it was our turn to go to our lane, I actually started getting anxiety and almost walked out, however he assured me I’d be fine, gave me a few extra pointers and then I eased in a bit better. My aim was better than my boyfriend’s though, so that was pretty encouraging hah!
Definitely not a hobby I’d continue, but we had a great first experience here.

What a bunch of clowns! I called in asking for a naa mini revolver and was told to come in to order it as they had one left. Waste a half hour to get there and I’m told it’s gone. But with a completely straight face the tool behind the counter tells me they’ll only charge $ 30 and taxes for the ffl xfer if I find one online. Complete waste of time, if I wanted to play the indefinite waiting game I would have stuck to the shop by my place instead of driving out of my way to get jerked around by these fools.

So much fun! We bought the groupon, which was pretty inexpensive. Great staff, fun and different thing to do. Will come back!

I’ve taken two classes at Champion Arms now, one from Quint & one from Carol. Before these classes, I’d never fired a gun. Now I can go to target practice, have learned SO MUCH, and still have so much to learn! Both these instructors are top notch, professional, fun, amazingly knowledgeable and I’m looking forward to taking more classes. I have found Champion Arms employees to be friendly, helpful and make learning something totally new fun. Safety is ALWAYS at the forefront from those who work here. I’m happy Champion Arms is in my backyard and look forward to many more fun times.

Good friendly service. Workers were really patient and chill and didn’t rush you. There was a little bit of a wait but nothing too crazy. The range is well ventilated and sound proof. The prices are about average. I would definitely recommend.

Came here with no experience whatsoever. The staff was extremely helpful with my lack of experience and were able to explain safety and how to handle a gun patiently. The only reason for the four stars is the occasional rapid fire from the others shooting their guns. Seemed like they forgot to explain their rules at times.

I have been there several times and thought is was okay. The last time I went with my daughter there were some clients that came in right after we did that were new to guns. They rented guns and sent out to the range. The clients kept taking selfies, holding the guns in dangerous ways then rapid firing numerous times without a peep from the staff. I do not feel safe there after that visit.

I came into here, because of a Groupon deal they had. On Tuesdays they have ladies day, where we get to shoot for free with one paying customer. I think I’m going to become a regular at this place. They were very busy the last time I came in. So I’ll come in during less busy hours next time. I would bring extra earplugs, it gets pretty loud. Their earpieces doesn’t do the job for me. Great location!

Good location, friendly people, and their gun safety class was informative/​good.
Why the 3 stars? The ventilation in the range is poor, hot, and dark. It felt like old recycled air was blowing back in versus new clean air and everyone around me were sweating bullets. I was only able to shoot for about 30 minutes before packing up and leaving.

I’d rate this place closer to a 3 Star for a few reasons but it made it to 4 for others…
Of all the indoor ranges that I’ve stopped by, Champion Arms is of the smaller ranges. Their gun rental selection is sparse compared to others and the ventilation (depending on what lane you’re on) is sub par. Décor and feel of the place is a bit warehouse like and drab. But who really goes to a range and expects luxury? The folks there are always very nice and cheerful. They will answer any and all questions and they know how to have fun with their customers as well as be very safe at the same time. For those minors reasons I’d give them a 3.
What brings them up that extra star: They are closer to where I live (renton), they are open until 8 pm. And they also allow aluminum casings (while most others only allow brass).
Overall, a decent place to shoot if you have your own guns and targets. They run the same deals, like free rentals on Wednesdays and whatnot. I’ll definitely be back again because it’s closest to home.

I usually have a very nice time when I head out to champion arms, I choose it because it’s close to home and I can get in my routine pistol shooting. However yesterday changed everything for me. The employee at the front counter (a taller bald white man) whom I had never seen before initialy was friendly, asking me what glock I had brought and such. His mood quickly changed when I told him I had brought my only glock, a 19 but have plans on buying a 34. He literally said «ewww why?!» A couple minutes later when I brought out my eye and ear protection for me and my buddy I was further ridiculed for the fact my girlfriends ear pro is pink. Me being with a buddy takin him out to the range for the first time gladly offered to wear the pink. The same man at the counter laughed at me and asked if my purse was in my car. Keep in mind im with a close friend and this
is his first time ever being to champion armsand only his second range experience ever. He
literally couldn’t believe a employee could be this unprofessional. Whoever this employee is he needs to get over himself, you’re 30something already bald, working for crap pay at a range and your bragging about how you can shoot competition with a G19… you’re not cool man, youre a joke. shut up keep your comments to yourself and do your job

Great service, great place.
Went here on a Wednesday for free gun rental, was definitely worth it and had lots of fun. We tried 4 – 5 different guns and rifles.
Would come back again! ;) give this place a chance if it’s your hood.

I’ve found my new 5 O’CLOCK BAR!!! Who needs vodka when you can relieve your stress by coming into this place! The staff are strict about how things should be and I LOVE THAT ABOUT THEM! All shooting ranges should be that way, you wanna come out of there in ONE PIECE. See y’all Friday!

Have been here about 10 times to shoot. The only other place I have shot was at Kenmore, which while awesome for rifles (especially trap) is lacking for pistols.
My experiences here have run the full spectrum. I have had some great days with friendly staff, and great shooters. More often though I find that some of the clientele can be a bit reckless. I have had people next to me who could not seem to keep the barrel pointed down range, I have had someones cruddy hot load ammo embed brass in my arm, and I regularly question the ventilation/​clenliness.
The worst experience happened recently though when I went to shoot with some friends. My friends had just gone in and I was waiting to get a lane (5 of the 10 lanes were closed for renovation) when all of a sudden I heard what sounded like a train coming through the building. I looked through the glass to the range and saw the open/​in use shooting bays falling down. All the lights went out, sparks flying, and there was a cloud of «dust» (it was actually lead). Ready to act as a first responder I started to head in. Luckily everyone was OK and they all were on their way out; a few scrapes and A LOT of lead dust covering them.
The staff there has always been pretty nice, but they really need to, well…#1 fix their busted facility. They are lucky no one was severely hurt, shot, or killed. #2 they need to be more on top of safety. They need to monitor their shooters more strictly and start kicking people out when they are unsafe. I hope this recent incident allows them to make some desperately needed updates to the facility. They gave us free passes and I may try them again. But again, changes are needed.
P. S. After the collapse we went to West Coast in Bellevue. So much cleaner, safer, more organized, great/​helpful staff. I had no idea how nice a range could be. Take notes Champion Arms.

Come here usually for the range. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable about firearms and most things related. Safety is definitely present at the range; I got a little trigger-​happy one time and let off a double tap, five seconds later I get hollered at, «hey buddy, I need you to take it slow ok?»
I apologized profusely (trying to hide a grin) and continued shooting. No drill instructor attitude here, just folks in the hobby who understand the need to sling hot lead downrange. The staff behind the rental counter have eyes like hawks without the talons to match. Definitely a safe place to introduce a newcomer to shooting.
The store side is pretty awesome too. I was quoted ~$ 490 out the door for a Mossberg 590A1 with ghost-​ring sights. Most other places want ~$ 600.

The staff here is great and very helpful. This place is very busy so plan ahead and try to come during off peak hours on the weekend and such otherwise you’ve got to wait! Lot’s of firearms to rent if you so choose and you can keep swapping them out with no extra charge within the same caliber (you do have to purchase store ammo for rentals)
All in all, no complaints as I’ve shot here many times in the past.

Extremely friendly staff! My girlfriend and I came here as first time shooter, they spent about 15 minutes to teach us and make sure we are comfortable with the gun. We rent a rifle and purchased a pack of ammo, plus two targets for $ 92 in total.

Amazing place to learn how to shoot the first time! The gentlemen at the counter (who’s name I don’t remember) was very informative about guns. I had gone here for a date with my gf and my brother as third wheel, and work perfectly as expected. Although the pricing of the ammo is a little too high combine with line fees. Still as a novice, I understand the fact that this place is still a business. They’ll take care of and I recommend this place. :) plus it’s in kent! The nearest it can get for people whole live in Kent/​Renton area.

This place isn’t bad at all. I enjoy shooting here. In my opinion, you will get more out of the range shooting a pistol more than a rifle, unless it’s a .22. For 223/5.56 or 308/7.62×51 rifles, you have to buy their frangible rounds, which is kind of a pain because they either don’t have it in stock or it can get pretty pricey per round, depending on how much you want to shoot. That’s really my only issue. Anything else about the range is that shooting a 223/5.56 out of a standard 16in barrel is going to be pretty loud. I brought my rifle caliber pistol in with a 10.5 barrel and scared people out of the range, sorry folks. Embrace the boom people, it’s lovely music.
I bring my own targets, pistol/​ammo, tape, lube, ear and eye pro. Saves me a few bucks to buy more rounds or whatever else my heart desires. It would be a good idea for you to do so as well but to each his/​her/​its own.
Never needed much from the people behind the counters, «just ring my stuff up and let me shoot» type of thing, so I can’t comment on customer service or the ‘smith work.

Pros’s:
The staff is very friendly, decent amount of lanes to shoot. so you wont have to wait a long time, during a busy day.
Staff is very friendly, there rules are simple and they only way to upset them is by doing rapid fire.
Con’s:
Many of there weapons were not available, and i showed up when they opened. I hate shooting remanfactured ammo
Shot random guns that were able to be rented. and i found the perfect gun i wanted to add to my collection, and they don’t sell guns at the time. thats sad. They sell everything else but guns. many other ranges also sell guns.

My experiences with Champion Arms thus far:
They take trade-​ins, and they are willing to offer cash or store credit.
They will order any firearm for you at no additional cost.
They sell new firearms — factory new, in the box — for the cheapest prices of any gunshop in the entire Seattle metro or Puget Sound area. I shop around, and you can only find better deals on the internet, which is nice and all, but I like to dink around and inspect the piece before I actually purchase.
I brought in a sackful of pistols a while back, and the manager offered me a very good trade-​in price, which I rolled over into buying a brand new FNX 9, with some store credit to spare. It was a great deal where everyone walked away happy.
Just to quickly compare the prices here to other places: at one gun shop in Seattle *cough Discount Guns cough* the same pistol was marked up $ 30 and the Diamondback DB9 was marked up $ 80. I live in north Seattle so maybe they were factoring in the price of gas… Who knows… The point is that, while located off the Valley Freeway, which is madness near rush hour, Champion Arms has the best, competitive prices around the Sound. But again, this is just from my own research and personal experience; if I’m wrong, please enlighten me.
Today I traded in another pistol, and once again received what I felt was a very correct trade-​in price, and then used the credit to buy another FNX 9. But here’s the deal: this FNX 9 was essentially brand new, but it was missing one its three magazines, so Champion was selling it for $ 500. Back in my neighborhood the gun shops would have tried to sell me the same gun for $ 600. This is just a minor example of the pricing and competitiveness of Champion Arms compared to the other guys.
The staff here is knowledgeable, courteous and professional; and they care to do a thorough job when dealing with buying and selling firearms. Nothing shady; no cutting corners; just correct and complete. And, as I’ve witnessed, even when newbies and window shoppers wander in, the staff is friendly and helpful. They explain what documents the potential customers will need, the best way to go about getting them, and point them in the right direction. They’re not elitists or gun snobs; they’re just good ol’ boys, never meanin’ no harm…
So, as an experienced shooter and «city boy» Army veteran, and as someone who has had to deal with the best and worst of buying firearms, I would recommend Champion Arms as your first stop if you’re interested in buying a gun.
Just my opinion…

The range is okay… it’s a bit dark so if you want to expereince lower-​light situations, this might be the place to go. And, the folks behind the counter are very nice.
However, my low rating is due to my experience with the gunsmithing services.
I brought in my 1911 that had a Novak low mount sight in the back with subdued yellow tritium inserts. It had a post-​mount Trijicon up front in bright green. I like this setup becuse you are supposed to focus on your front sight — therefore, I like it to have a brighter dot and in the dark, knowing which dot goes in the middle might be challenging if they are all the same bright green.
So anyhow, the tritium had worn out. I needed replacements. I asked about having the front sight milled in but was advised that post-​in was fine, afterall, it has been done that way since 1911 — 100 years! Okay, fine… I chose to do the post-​in for time and money reasons.
I advised the guy behind the counter several times what I wanted (subdued yellow in back, bright green up front) because it just «felt» like he wasn’t hearing me.
He said they didn’t have a Trijicon brand post mount in stock but had others. I said that was fine, so long as it’s a quality sight.
When I got the gun back, it was bright green all around. And the post-​mount up front was crooked. That’s right — crooked to the naked eye.
I was eager to get back to shooting my gun so I figured I’d shoot it a bit then let them know the sight needed to be straightened out.
After about a half-​box of ammo through it, the sight flew off the slide. So much for quality craftsmanship. In the end, they got the color of the inserts wrong and the front sight flew of a few rounds into it. I’d say that’s a huge failure on their part. Instead of bringing my gun back to them, I took it to West Coast and had a front sight milled in, something I should have done in the first place.

I had a blast at Champion Arms Indoor Shooting Center.
Never having shot a gun at length before, I came here looking to try out a few. The employees in the shop recommended that I try out the shooting range. The employees in the shooting range area were fantastic. They showed me how to properly hold the gun, how to load it, small safety tips, and did it all without making me like an idiot. They were warm and welcoming.
They have quite a few semi-​automatics, but very few revolvers. The lanes were roomy and I felt comfortable there. The other customers there were equally warm and welcoming. It was well lit, coat hangers on the walls for personal effects, and safety rules and regulations diligently followed.
I seriously had a great time there, and look forward to returning.
