I remember coming here once but never really thought much of it until a few days ago.
Ever since I started working inside of Great Wall, my lunch break always consists of going to Boba Express. And I would always pass by this bakery not thinking much of it. Until one day, I was craving their corn and ham bun (it also has pineapple in it, surprisingly good). I forgot how good it taste and how much I enjoyed it!!! I tried their bbq pork bun as well and it was delicious. It tasted so fresh and the bread was just so soft and warm.
If you’re wondering about the price, you definitely cannot beat the price here. It’s so inexpensive which makes it easy to buy multiple things without thinking about the cost. I normally pay with cash bc majority of the stores inside Great Wall only accept cash. So I am not sure if they accept debit/​credit.
There is one thing I will mention. If it’s your first time, it may seem confusing. It’s not any ordinary bakery where you tell the employee what you want. Instead, you grab a tray and utensil and choose the items that you want and you bring it up to the cashier to ring you up.
I’ve seen the same man multiple times at the cashier so I am assuming he is the owner. He’s always very friendly when I come in! Don’t hesitate to try this place out. It’s worth it!

I usually go to 99 market every two weeks and never forget to visit this bakery in order to get some Portuguese Egg Tarts which is my favorite! Their Tiramisu tastes really good too. Cheap prices and the employees also very nice :)

My sister and I stopped in here before lunch to check it out. Probably not a good idea because we ended up buying a couple things to snack on almost ended up not eating lunch haha. The regular egg tarts were sold out so we opted for the Portuguese egg tarts and also a curry beef bun. Let me start by saying, I’m usually not a big fan of regular egg tarts just because of the taste. I’ve never had egg tart that made me want to keep eating more until I discover the Portuguese ones. The egg tart was slightly sweeter and the crust that it was on so was airy, fluffy and flaky. It fell apart in my hand but it was so delicious! My sister was even raving about the egg tart and how she preferred it more than the one she had the day before. We also split a curry beef bun and I definitely prefer this one over the ones I’ve had in the past. It was a very nice curry flavor and wasn’t too overpowering. I really wanted to come back here and pick up a box of goodies to take home but it was later in the day and I know it wouldn’t be the same by the time I got home since I still have errands to run around the area. I’ll definitely have to come back when the first open to see what else they have to offer because when my sister and I stopped by, we notices a lot of the trays were empty.

Only stopped in a few times and got a few things but everything I tried was delicious. The hot dog bun is a good little snack for $ 1.30. A soft hot dog in a sweet bun with cheese… so good! But my favorite item is their steam bun/​hum bao/​banh bao! Ive had many in my life but their buns are the best I have ever eaten. Fluffy and slightly sweet bread and the most incredible filling. It’s moist, savory, and balances out the bread. Good ratio between filling and outside too. Everything in the bakery is around a $ 1 or more which is cheap! And I love how you have a tray and use tongs to grab the pastries you like, keeps the experience fun.

Found this place by mistake and was delighted when I tried it. Walked in not knowing what to expect left with a box full of goodies. Well worth the money!

Fantastic pastry delights! I thought the price was also really great, spent 25 $ and got so so much for my money. Loved the baked buns with pork and curry beef. Steamed buns were equally as good, filled with sweet BBQ pork, cabbage, sausage, and hard boiled eggs! They were so delicious, I couldn’t eat enough. Scrumptious steamed Sui Mai. To top it off the eggs tarts were fabulous. Just the right amount of eggy-​ness! Wish this place was bigger as it is definitely a tight squeeze and like others have mentioned it’s a bit confusing. In the end it is definitely worth the visit to the Great Wall mall if only to go to this place. I cannot wait to go back here!
Also, we were hear early and it was crowded already and were running out of things because it was fresh, so if you want it fresh and a good selection, it definitely pays to arrive ASAP after opening.

I love butter rolls, this place makes ok butter roll. I think they were a day old, I would give them an extra star if their butter rolls are fresh. I’m all about the butter rolls. Gimme the butter rolls gah dammit!!! The fresher the butter rolls, the more stars you’d get.
However, their BBQ buns were on point! They were crazy delicious! Fresh out of the oven and er’rythang! My little picky eaters love them!

The pork buns were HUGE! The corn, ham, and cheese bread was ok, the one at International Dist. taste better. My fave was the Portugese egg tart. For $ 10: 2 steamed buns, 2 baked buns, 2 Portugese egg tarts, 1 hot dog/​bun, and 1 ham, corn, and cheese buns. Very inexpensive!

I always wondered why this bakery never had any goods in their cases. But then I realized that I usually never come to this place early in the morning when they actually do have warm & fresh pastries and buns. Everything is usually gone by the evening because it’s really good. It’s about the same price as the bakery inside 99 ranch market but tastes so much better. I’ve tried their bbq pork buns — the bread is soft & the filling is sweet, savory & not pink like the bakery inside the market. I’ve also tried their taro bun. It was delicious; the filling wasn’t too sweet, which is the problem with most of the taro bun’s I have tried in the past. Their portuguese egg tarts are great, as well. I personally like the portuguese version better than the cantonese version. It’s lighter & less sweet. If you’re in the area, stop by to get some delicious chinese baked goods!

It’s cheap and affordable! The best bbq pork buns of all times as well as their ham and corn bun and hot dog bun. It’s well done. My favorite. The man their is absolutely nice, I’m there like every week, he recognizes me and knows what I want. I live in Seattle and I’m willing to drive all the way to Kent just for some good buns!

The cake I had for my birthday was really good. The fruits on the cake were also good. I will still go to your bakery to buy my brothers birthday cake next year. Thank you.

This place is located right by the chaos of ranch 99 market, and could easily be missed or overlooked. We ducked in for a snack while waiting for our table at Jang Soo Tofu.
The bakery has the typical grab and pay systems of asian bakeries. You pick and choose to your liking and bring your tray to the counter to pay.
Although their buns don’t got nothing on Yummy House in chinatown (the best!!!) their egg tarts and sticky rice were stand outs for me. The egg tart was light and had that nice eggy taste. The crust had a short bread consistency instead of dry and flakey.
Now I’m gonna have to swing by here to grab a few egg tarts every time I stop by Bambu :)

Prices are very fair but it’s a bit confusing the first time you go and I think that probably confuses some people as they walk by. It would be nice if they made it easier to grab a few items to go and get rung up. Like most Great Wall places, they like cash and the people ahead of us had a heck of a time dealing with their debit card.
Hint: grab a tray, paper sheet and tongs and load up. He’ll put them into individual bags when he rings you up.
On the other side, there are like rice balls and savory food? They only have two small tables for eating and it’s close to the kids area so don’t expect any ambiance if you are going to eat there…
The pastries we selected were okay, nothing that special IMHO. It was very clean and the man was very attentive. It was odd, once we walked in and started looking around, there were suddenly a bunch of people in there and it’s not designed for many people to be there at once…
We’ll be back.

I’ve been absolutely obsessed with this bakery ever since my parents brought home a pork floss bun (my current favorite) for me. Their prices are so cheap! Everything is freshly made and I love how there is a unique variety of pastries and desserts. Service is also great! Everyone is so nice. Every time I introduce this cute bakery to anyone, they all become obsessed! I will definitely be coming here a million more times. Another item that is a must try is their bun topped with ham, corn, and mayonnaise. I’ve never seen it before in other Asian bakeries and am really happy that I got a chance to try it because it’s so delicious! To make things simple, let’s just say I love everything about this place. I would definitely recommend visiting this place and buying a load of stuff to gradually eat for the week any time you are in the area!

Mei Wa Bakery is a Chinese bakery located at the Great Wall Mall in Kent. It is right next to the arcade area. The baked goods here serve as a complement to the selection you will find in the bakery section at 99 Ranch next door.
This bakery is seemingly smaller than the Chinese bakeries you will find in the International District. Though I think that is just the perception since they have numerous bakery cases here with just a few things in them. If they combined all of the goods into one big case, it may seem visually a bit larger.
The setup here is mostly self serve. Grab a tray and pick out what you want. Though you will need to ask if you want a few of the cake items. There are bakery items here that overlap with 99 Ranch like the buns for instance. But you won’t find any breads here. The pricing here is cheap. Some things seem cheaper than in the I-​D like the BBQ pork buns.
Tried three items that came out to the paltry sum of just under $ 4. The BBQ pork bun ($ 1.20), pork floss bun ($ 1.20) and a Portuguese egg tart ($ 1.10).
The BBQ pork bun was tasty. The meat filling is just how I like it. They also glaze the exterior of the bun which gives it somewhat of a stickiness so beware. The pork floss bun was good too, though I kind of prefer the one at Kiki Bakery in Redmond a bit better (for its texture). I would get this bun again though.
Lastly is the Portuguese egg tart. This item is pretty hard to find in the Seattle area. I have tried this before in Macau and even at a KFC in Taipei. I thought this version was okay, but it seemed to taste like a regular egg tart.
The coloring is the same, but the sides of a Portuguese egg tart are shaped differently and it has a bit more creaminess. It is not a bad tart, just not quite on the same level as the ones I had in Asia. I would still say to get them since they taste good. Just set your expectations if you are comparing it to previous versions you may have tried before.
Though it is a smaller Chinese bakery, I would recommend Mei Wa. Not the greatest selection, but what they carry is pretty good for the Seattle area and the prices are great.

Everything is very reasonably priced. We tried their Japanese cheesecake cup cake which was lighter and more airy than the typical Japanese cheesecake that I am accustomed to, or it isn’t like a typical creamy and dense New York style cheesecake with a graham cracker crust we are used to.
Another item we tried was a bun topped with a baked corn, ham and mayonnaise sauce that is reminiscence to what I was raised on and stimulated the long forgotten taste buds. Their hot dog bun also brought back my childhood memories with a unique flavor of multi-​continental cultures merged harmoniously, though, the ratio of the bread to the hotdog could be adjusted by reducing the size of the bun if you are lazy like me to cut some of the bun off of it.
My favorite of all was their Portuguese egg custard pastry cup. Its warm eggy custard nestled in a flaky pastry cup was certainly better than the most dim sum places in this area.
The best thing about this place? I only spent $ 11 for a big box of good baked goods!

Homemade pastries now available in the Great Wall Shopping Mall! Ever since the Valerio’s Tropical Bake Shop shut down, that void was temporarily filled by Le’s Deli & Bakery across the street. Open now for several weeks, Mei Wa offers a limited selection of baked goods micmicking what we find in Chinatown a la Yummy Bakery.
One type of pastry I always love to get at Chinese bakeries is the almighty Pork Sung Bun (other names used: pork floss or Rousong). The dried stewed pork topping is slightly salty and sweet, the bun’s stuffed with a secret savory sauce that brings it all together. To date, Mei Wa’s unique sauce filling makes it a million times better than any other place that has offered it. Compare this feeling to pork bellies: without the richness of the fatty portion, how can a pork belly be pork belly?
Other items, the crème bun and egg tarts are above average. Two types of egg tarts, the regular and the Portuguese style, need a flakier and stiffer crust; I prefer the Portuguese filling more with its smoother egg mix though it could stand to be thicker.
Price? They go for about $ 1.10 or so a piece and with what I had eaten, I will come back. I hope they start offering lotus bean or taro fillied buns or better yet, fresh sponge cake!
