Public Storage

We have rented from Public storage for the year. We went in to close the storage as were no longer in need of it on ⁹⁄₂₇ and September was our last month renting… We asked if we needed to sign something she said «no». The girl in the office said” your good to go”. I would take that as she took care of it. We received an email on October 5^th stating we have a balance of $ 3.35. My husband called and talked to the manager, thinking they made a mistake and this would be an easy correction on their part. Nope, the manager said because we didn’t remind him we were moving out so they didn’t close the unit down immediately and charged us a day’s rent. This is there mistake but the office manager refused to refund as he said he was not capable of fixing this. He gave us a number to contact customer service to call and explain and ask for an adjustment. At this point it wasn’t about the money it was about the principal of charging and not being able to correct there mistake. We called several times sometimes holding for over 25 minutes before there system hung up on us or we tired of waiting. I attempted one more time but this time when prompted by their automated system if I was needing to reserve a new storage an agent answered in minutes. Only to be told I needed to talk to customer service. Obviously new customers are more important that current customers. The next day I attempted to call during the day and got through and the agent stated my name was not listed on the account and would not be able to tell me anything about the account. I told her I did not want any information. That I just wanted to tell them of the mistake so they could have it corrected. She told me she could not fix anything without talking to my husband as he was the only one she could see is listed on the account. And he needed to call in. I asked when would be a good time to call. I explained the trouble we had getting through and she stated there is never a good time as they are always busy. Horrible company. Never again will we rent from Public Storage and any time anyone mentions this place I will give them an ear full.
