Came here on a Sunday for brunch because I heard great things about it from native Ohioans. I came with 3 other friends and the wait to get a table was about an 30 minutes, which isn’t too bad considering the wait times that I have to endure back in socal. They have an app that you can use on your phone that tells you when your table is ready and where you are in the line to get a table, which was pretty awesome. Once we got inside, we were seated at a booth by the window. The ambience was loud and casual, as most brunch places are. As far as service, the waitresses would come back often and check up on on if we needed water or anything else. In terms of the food, I ordered the garden hash, which was flavorful. I just wish that it was more food, but overall you can’t really go wrong with eggs and vegetables. Altogether, nothing spectacular but it was good food. They give you coffee and water for free, like most places. Solid place to get breakfast food if you’re in the area. But nothing special. If you don’t like waiting for a table, then I would suggest you go to IHOP or some other place to get food, but it could be that it was just a Sunday. Grade: B

Yum! Delicious food – we had a hash scramble and steel cut oats, both great. Delicious muffin too. Nice kids’ menu. Very friendly service and pleasant atmosphere. A bit busy on a Sunday morning, but free coffee while you wait! Definitely worth the visit.

As far as breakfast is concerned… I’m a fan.

Same menu wherever you go, so nothing unique to this restaurant in particular. The wait on weekends is insane, so download their app to keep track of how many tables are ahead of you. Shop around at Tuesday Morning or T&C while you wait. and wait… and wait…

First Watch takes the time to make sure your food is prepared exactly as you ordered it. This is not a fast food joint — the staff is friendly and make each visit a pleasure. We eat here weekly and highly recommend this First Watch location.

I am visiting from Los Angeles. Born and raised here in Dayton so I have been to many places for breakfast but this was my first time at first watch. Everything was perfect but if I could make one recommendation is that instead of mini individual packaged single serving creamer for the coffee… first watch should serve creamer in a normal pouring thingy like bob Evans does.

After six years, I’m finally revisiting one of my first reviews on Unilocal — the chain breakfast café First Watch. Since that first review, I’ve frequented this location at least a dozen times. For the life of me, I don’t know why I originally gushed over this place. Perhaps it was youthful exuberance or beginning reviewer naïveté. Whatever it was, the restaurant definitely doesn’t deserve such glowing praise. In the ever expanding panoply of breakfast eateries, this particular First Watch is exceedingly average. Their traditional breakfast, omelettes, and specialized dishes are decent enough. This location always seems to be extremely crowded, so their service suffers at times. Ironically, the one aspect I originally raved about most — the coffee — is now consistently the most disappointing part. Weak and flavorless coffee is the worst. Silly 2008 Me.

Being new to the area I’ve been asking for recommendations for places to try and I keep hearing about this place. Finally checked it out and it was as good as I’ve heard if not better. I’ll definitely be back.

This place has great healthy breakfast food. It is a little pricey at times. A nice place to go once in a while to change it up. I’m more of a Friches breakfast bar kinda guy. Yeah I’m cheap.

Service is always good. I always order tri-athlete with salsa. The staff is always very friendly and make you feel like home. The food portion is perfect and not make you feel full before you finish the food. My son and I often go there for breakfast during weekend.

Really busy, especially on the weekends, anytime you go. My favorite is the chicken pesto quinoa bowl. It has quinoa, sun-dried tomatoes, steamed kale, pieces of baked and cut chicken, and pesto. Very tasty! Some hotsauce and salt adds a little something special to it though. I also like the bacado, which is a bacon, avacado omelet. Staff is friendly but there is one unhappy waitress who works at this location. She’s not mean, just looks super depressed.

One of the better places for breakfast I’ve been to. The service was great even though it was packed. The food was very good and they know how to poach an egg, its surprising how many don’t.

If you are ordering take out make sure to check your order before leaving. I have ordered there a few times on a Saturday and haven’t been too impressed. Otherwise, when you go in and dine it’s pretty decent. The wait staff are friendly and helpful.

I absolutely loved this place! I was in Kettering for a business meeting and stumbled upon this place when asking a local bakery where to get some breakfast at a diner-style restaurant. I hate to admit this, but I was really not expecting anything outside of a Waffle House type menu. Boy, was a I wrong! I ordered the Market Hash: Two eggs any style atop a hash of fresh, seasoned potatoes, house-roasted Crimini mushrooms, zucchini, onions and red peppers with spinach, melted mozzarella and herbed goat cheese; however, I got this sans cheese. I absolutely love breakfasts like this. Several restaurants do these types of dishes, but they often lack veggies, so I was an instant fan. Additional highlights: Every table had a pitcher of water with lemon in it. As someone who guzzles water, this was greatly appreciated. If ordering coffee, a pitcher of coffee is left at your table as well(like IHOP). I loved how many veggie options were available, they even have quinoa bowls! Our server was extremely friendly and very accommodating when we let her know we were in a bit of a hurry. I don’t know what it was, but this place just made me feel so comfortable and so welcome. Doesn’t get any better than that!

The food was good consisting of fresh products. The pancakes really are big(trust them). The bacon cheddar pancake is worth a try! The wait staff was very friendly and prompt. My only complaint is the room temperature. I debated several times If I should go out to my car to get a jacket. I didn’t want to let go of the fresh warm coffee. :) over all I would recommend it!

A friend and I were searching for a breakfast restaurant venue for more than a bagel/doughnut/muffin experience before we headed out on a 2 hour drive for some hiking. We landed on First Watch and what a treat! I opted for the fresh fruit crepes with a muffin and homemade granola. The crepes were filled with fresh strawberries and bananas and topped with a strawberry spread. I spooned some of the granola on top. The muffin was very moist and tasty. I left feeling quite satisfied and not weighed down. The menu has many options for breakfast from pacakes to omelettes. Service was given with a smile. Definitely on my list to re-visit.
