Went by there 2 weeks ago to find it closed. Sorry to see it go. One of the last places that gave huge bowls of pasta. My mom loved this spot. Had been taken her years for years on Mother’s Day.

I’ve been to this place many times while ago, and I used to enjoy their foods. I was seeing so many bad reviews here on Unilocal,so I just went there to find out if they changed for worse or not; my answer is they changed HORRIBLE. I ordered Linguini Nera Mare, which used to be my most favorite, turned out to be the most disappointment. F**ked up thing is that they even served pasta in a broken bowl; base of the bowl was terribly cracked/chipped off and didn’t even stand still. I paid $ 50 for 2 disgusting pastas and 2 sodas, what a waste of money. Never go back again!

Yes, I know I gave it 4 stars, but this place has been here for years and I still go to it because it’s a reliable standby. My experience here has always been good and the prices are gentle. I’ve always liked the food, whether it was pasta, a hot entrée, a sandwich. The place however needs a facelift, it lacks sparkle. It also needs a new chef to revamp the menu. I still like their linguine frutti di mare, fried calimari, linguine with white clam sauce, and spaghetti salmone. I can expect a warm roll and a bruschetta when I sit down, those things have stayed the same and are still nice touches.

Pasta Lovers used to be SOOOGOOOOD, what the hell happened? So my most recent visit was last Saturday night, and it was kind of empty in there. Years ago this place used to be packed most of the time. They also used to give a little more bread, not just a roll. The roll was soft and warm though. I ordered the Baked Ziti which actually was freaking delicious. I was stuffed and didn’t want to put my fork down. BUT the food came like 10 minutes after we ordered it. That’s a little suspect. The piece of chicken that my sister’s bf was served(he ordered chicken parm) was pretty big. It looked good but I’ve never seen a chicken cutlet that long. My sister didn’t really enjoy her pasta — I don’t totally remember what it was but it had peas and prosciutto, she though it was a little dry. The penne a la vodka that my cousin got was pretty good too. I see another Unilocaler commented that this place is a diner and I wouldn’t have agreed before but now that seems about right. You definitely get service like a typical diner, and the waiters kinda suck. No enthusiasm whatsoever. I do still recommend Pasta Lovers, I just hope they get back to what they used to be.

friends love this place but honestly these are folks i don’t necessarily agree w/on food so decided to give it a try. menu is big and portions are decent. food is soso. décor is a bit dated so u’re coming if u want big portions of pasta. def would recommend a local rest like tuscan hills or some of the others on metropolitan for more authentic cuisine.

This place is garbage. It used to be a decently average place to come for pasta but has definitely fallen. Came here last night for dinner. The bread they gave us was rock hard. Ordered the hot antipasto for an app. The clams were disgusting and tasted like they were on the verge of going bad. The calamari was super oily and bland, as was the marinara sauce. It also came with so odd square of a fried mozzarella that they cut in half and considered to be a serving. For entrees we ordered the shells ala Pasta Lovers and the smoked chicken Panzotti. If you’re going to have a dish named after your place, it better be good… but it sucked. The sauce in the shells dish was really watery and there wasn’t much taste. My bf took about 5 bites of it and was completely done with it. The panzotti filling of chicken looked grey and tasted like leftover chicken. We barely finished half of anything er ordered. Total waste of money. Will not be returning!

It’s a converted diner and from the looks outside you might be turned off by a diner calling themselves Pasta Lovers, but they are worth a shot. Prices are a little high for lunch. Most of the dishes are over $ 12 which for dinner is fine, but not for a quick lunch. Been here a couple of times and I have no major complaints. Bread is good. Server drops a large roll on your plate using tongs to start along with a piece of bruschetta. Last trip I ordered the lobster ravioli with baby shrimp, green peas in a pink sauce($ 16.95). Excellent portion of ravioli and filling in your belly. Skimpy on the shrimp, but quality overall. Not much ambiance, but if you work in the area or have a court date and can afford to spend $ 20 on lunch give them a try.

Lousy unseasoned pasta dishes. Lack luster décor. You can tell their better days are behind them. The nervous court crowds across the street are keeping them going.

Guys, it’s a DINER. Why they have the odd name I do not know. But it looks like a diner from the street; it looks like a diner inside; service is diner quality. Most of the place is the usual booths as a diner would provide. There is a separate space which I guess represents the«trattoria» section with four-tops and blue table linens. It was 10AM and I was ordering from the breakfast menu. Nothing Italian here. I had the corned beef hash and eggs which were good. Decent coffee. Full bar, no TV, no Wi-Fi.

I am a Taiwanese and I made shitty pasta because I guess I just don’t understand the concept of cooking Italian food. And now, I found my match in heaven. Apparently, the chef in Pasta Lover are my twins who can’t make pasta for the love of God! The salad was — are you kidding me? Few leaves and 4 slices of A tomato? Did the chef spend a SECOND to think about the combination and taste before throw it on the menu? My angel hair pasta with Olive oil, garlic and veggie was UNBELIEVABLYBAD!!! Have you EVER see shredded carrots(or actually more like peeled unusable slices) in your pasta? If you haven’t, you need to come to this place for an eye opening 101.

Its affordable. Its edible. And its convenient. Its walking distance from my apartment and the price tag is great. I have definitely had better italian food elsewhere but seriously– when all else fails, this will get the job done. With places like this, i steer clear of marinara sauces. I have a sensitivity to the levels of citric acid in most jarred marinara sauces so when i come here I get pasta with light cream sauce or oil and garlic. I really dig the fresh hot bread they give you when you are seated. I also love drawing on the paper table cloth with the crayons they provide. They now serve breakfast: raised eyebrow: that should be interesting.

Uninspired but serviceable pasta joint. Feels kind of corporate, inhuman. But sometimes life isn’t easy and you end up there. One of my favorite quotes on Shit My Dad Says: «You don’t have to be good to succeed. You just gotta be the least shitty option. Example: We’re eating at The Olive Garden.» I feel the same way about Pasta Lovers. Also a place like this you can take children. If you’re banned for life, it’s not the greatest loss in life.

Best fried calamari and Ceasar salad. Our favourite pasta dishes: Paglia e Fieno and Fausto’s special. I love the complementary bruchetta(sp?) that comes with the meal. Great place to go with your kid. They have crayons on every table and a paper tablecloth to create your own art while waiting for your food, which never takes long. Four stars instead of five because they don’t deliver directly. They make you call a delivery service that charges an additional $ 4 for delivery. Good thing I live a couple of blocks away :)

Run of the mill diner/restaurant. That basically sums up the experience. I had recently went there for the first time for dinner and it neither wowed me or disappointed me. The décor is basically diner style booths and tables lined with paper(very disappointed). I had ordered the chicken pasta with white sauce and was very pleased with the portion that was served. I definitely come back another time, however I would not recommend this as a date location due to the décor.

Since I gave this place a 3 star, I figured I’ll go back and give it another try to see if I really should bump up the ratings. I remember this place being spotty so food tends to be hit or miss. I couldn’t be more disappointed when I got my dinner. The linguine with clam sauce was bland and totally tasteless. Before dinner, I made an offhand joke saying that it’s hard to screw up a linguine with clam sauce dish because it’s so simply. I guess Pasta Lovers proved me wrong. Their marinara sauce taste more like a slightly chunky tomato soup, which is not a good thing. A good marinara sauce should be thick and chunky so it stays on the food you dip it in. The Insalata Frutti di Mare comes with shrimp, calamari and chopped clams. All were overcooked and tasted rubbery. The accompanied cocktail sauce breathed much needed flavor back into this appetizer. I took a few bites out of my partner’s Fettucine Primavera and it’s quite tasty. It’s basically fettucine and vegetables with alfredo sauce. I would order something with alfredo sauce next time but then again since this place is so spotty, they would probably messed up the alfredo sauce when I did order the dish. For dessert, we ordered a slice of tiramisu to share. I don’t think it’s really«tiramisu» they serve, rather, it’s more like a tiramisu cake since they use a white cake as layer. Although the mascarporne«frosting» is good, this tiramisu is not REALLY a tiramisu. Sorry Paste Lovers, I had faith in you and wanted you to prove me wrong. I’m gonna bump this rating down to a 2 star instead due to the quality of the food.

What a surprise to have such a gem in this neighborhood that’s in desperate need of some good restaurants. At first the restaurant looks like an old diner from the outside, but don’t let the décor fool you. The menu was completely Italian American. As soon as we sat down we received bruscetta with toast to sample in an amuse buche if you will. This was delicious, followed by warm Italian bread with salted soft butter… delicious. For main course I forgot what my date ordered but I ordered the chicken Francese and it was perfectly executed and delicious. At the end of the meal they brought us a dessert tray which was really nice, we chose the tiramisu and it was a bit disappointing, very bland and not impressive. I would skip the dessert and focus on the appetizers and main courses and I will definitely be back.

A friend and I went here for lunch the other day, an old haunt for the both of us which neither of us has been to in YEARS. I had gone to the one in the city when I worked on the same block(49th St.) and a little over 10 years later, both locations are still standing with the same awesome menu. I love them all! The black linguini with shrimp in a red tomato sauce, linguini with fresh seafood in a tomato sauce, and the green fresh tagliolini with sea scallops and shrimp in a tomato cream sauce*. I decided on the Linguini Frutti de Mare and(sigh) it was as good as I remember. My friend had the Rigitoni alla Vodka and that too was still yummy. The service wasn’t too enthusiastic or attentive. I was really shocked I wasn’t given a spoon to go with my linguini and even more so when it took a few minutes to get some help when it wasn’t even busy. *only available at the W. 49th St location

This restaurant is listed as a member of Take Out Connections for delivery in the Forest Hills area. Pasta galore indeed! I like the bruscetta appetizer as well as the chicken marsala. It’s best to dine in rather than order on the go.

Oh my GAWD! Yes, I’d say Pasta Lovers is for pasta lovers!!! Having heard good things about it, I ordered Pasta Lovers for delivery through Take Out Connection( ). Got the gnocchi and requested tomato sauce(it was listed in the menu with crème sauce, but more fattening) as well as 2 diet cokes. Pasta Lovers lists gnocchi as $ 13.50, but Take Out Connection told me my total was $ 21.50(they charge for delivery). When my food arrived an hour and change later, I received 2!!! orders of gnocchi – I swear it was a pound and a half of pasta in each dish!!! Gnocchi is one of my favorite foods and not all restaurants do it right — Pasta Lovers’ gnocchi was tender and the sauce, great! They also gave 2 rolls which, if hot out of the oven, would’ve been even more spectacular. NY Department of Health Point Violation for Pasta Lovers’: 21 — which is why I’m giving it 3 stars.
