Food is delicious, server is kind and even lends me his personal iPhone charger to charge my phone while I’m eating. Just it’s a little pricey but it’s Key West and it was Christmas time, what can you expect!

Perfect! Perfect! Perfect! We had lunch(French tuna fish for me and a BLT for my husband). Hands down, best ever. The tuna salad also has sliced potatoes, tomato, green pepper, hard boiled egg and green beans. Oh my! It was so good, we came back for dinner. I had the seafood crêpe– very different but delicious-mussels, shrimp, fish with mushrooms and tomatoes and a delightful sauce. We came here on a whim when we were walking down the street talking about lunch and a woman interrupted us to tell us to come here. Again, perfection!

Breakfast was not good. The eggs were powdery and my breakfast crêpe was just weird and let me not feeling too great. Coffee was delicious, though!

I know everybody raves about the breakfast at Banana Café but I think the real gems are in their dinner menu. The braise short ribs were sensational, the duck is a must try and the snapper we had was a delight too.

I was told they have no room inside when you see white people go in. I told them i ll wait and she suddenly said there is room upstairs. I get upstairs she tries to sit me in a corner i wanted balcony. They said its reserved for a party 30 mins away. They don t like black people. If you are the wrong color they will ignore you unless you demand service then they pretend oh i did not see you there. its a nice place if you are the right color. I guess key west still believes in segregation. Their orange juice is real good though. Came all the way from Dallas to visit key west and that is the welcome i get.

This is our go to breakfast choice since it’s close to where we stay, the food is consistently good, the coffee is fresh, the service is good and it’s reasonably priced. We also like the fact that you can people watch while dining from either inside or outside. Great choice!

Very pleased with our dessert and coffee. We will be back. It was nice of the chef to make the crêpe our daughter wanted, even though it was not on the night menu. Perfect coffee and delicious port.

Not a lot of vegan/veg options but the avocado salad was good and pretty big; they also have fresh-squeezed juice!

We came here for breakfast per Gster’s find. They have fabulous sewing under umbrellas upstairs overlooking Duval, and also fun tables inside. The theme everywhere is this Cuban women in a banana skirt dancing, it’s comical and it’s everywhere. This place is known for crepes, which is why I was surprised to only find savory crepes, not any sweet ones. I was a bit disappointed. The prices were also pretty big for breakfast. Gster saw a pic of the French onion soup and decided there was no other choice but to go with that and a side of potatoes. I got a cheese omelette. I wanted the fruit/yogurt but it was $ 10! The omelette I got was subpar, with the cheese under the egg, not in it, and the cheese not all the way melted. While the food wasn’t bad, and I loved the sun and whimsical environment, the prices and menu options were just not what I expected.

Arrived at 9am for breakfast and seated promptly… I asked the server to make some recommendations and she looked lost… then she made one recommendation… I have probably high expectations… ask me questions to understand my taste and give me few options… and explain the difference… anyways… Back to 3 key attributes: Service is average so I will give 2.5 Food: I ordered(la mar crepes) crepes with scallops and lime sauce… it was not bad. but not an extraordinary so I will give it 3… my wife’s order was simple… eggs, croissant and side of potatoes… croissant was really rubbery. The ambiance was great on terrace(roof top)…so may be 4 for the ambiance… So the overall rating is 3.5…but not 4… so I have to go with 3… primarily due to the food

Great breakfast spot in Key West. We had the Nova Eggs Bennedict. Fresh Orange Juice. Breakfast Potatoes have to be ordered as a side and are big enough to share.

It was a bit of a hike from our hotel at Eaton and Duval, but well worth the walk, even in the heat. My husband had the eggs Benedict. He really like the thinner slice of ham, saying it was sweeter the the Canadian bacon this dish is typically served with. I ordered the avocado and veggie crêpe. I could have skipped the onions, but that is just my preference. It is served with a creamy Italian vinaigrette, and plenty of avocado. It was just the right amount of food. Great coffee! Los of cool French posters and memorabilia.

Our discovery of the Banana Café came about in the same way that many of our finds happened during our honeymoon. Before we left our condo we would Unilocal some place, walk to it, discover it was closed(low season and all), which then lead us to finding something amazing. We must have passed the Banana Café several times during our daily and nightly rambles around Key West, and their sign outside of the woman in the banana dress always caught my eye. After we struck out going to our intended dinner destination I suggested we try the funky little café we kept passing. Thankfully it was open so we took a seat and ordered some food and wine. I ordered the yellow tail snapper with french style gnocchi. If you read any of my reviews you might know that I LOVE gnocchi. I had only ever had the Italian style gnocchi before though. The gnocchi here was so delicious. It just melted in my mouth. I now know that French gnocchi is essentially made of pastry puff not potato like Italian gnocchi. This may be my new favorite form of gnocchi. The fish was also excellent, and that is coming from not the biggest seafood lover. It was very light, buttery, with just the right hint of citrus you want. It was also the right portion of food too. I left feeling satiated without being overly full. We ended dinner with a Key Lime crêpe. I liked it because it was a nice change of pace from the Key Lime pies we had been having(a slice at lunch and dinner). I really enjoyed the crêpe. The crêpe was cooked perfectly, and the filling was a a creamier version of the pie filling. It was a very nice alternative to a pie slice. The décor here was sort of French Café meets Caribbean laid backness. It had a very European feel to it, but at the same time a warm coziness. It made me feel very at ease and relaxed. It was also nice that there weren’t many other patrons there either. The service was good. Not overly attentive but not absent either. It was that nice balance of there when you need her, but out of your hair when she wasn’t. I don’t know how busy they get in the actual season, but if you want a nice quiet and delicious meal in the off season this is a great find.

Such a cute place. My mother and I split their quiche Lorraine, we thought based on the price($ 14) it would be big enough to split and it sure was. I also had a bagel on the side and she ordered the potatoes and said they were excellent. The service was great and the interior is darling. Not really sure why they were playing classic rock, listening to bands like Boston and Heart is pretty great, but at a French café at 9:30 in the morning… seemed random.

So I thought with a name like Banana Café, I’d for sure order something with banana in it. To my surprise, the savory options were so tantalizing that I had to go that route. I have zero regrets about my La Mer crêpe. Sautéed sea scallops in a delectable key lime sauce was the way to go. While not as stuffed with fixings as my friends’ crepes, they did not skimp on the scallops. I found myself soaking up every drop of the rich sauce. Our server was friendly and prompt. Being brunch time, we were indulging in cocktails like mimosas and he was on top of thirsty group the entire time. The atmosphere was so relaxed and I really enjoyed tunes by Jack Johnson, Michael Franti and Spearhead and King Harvest. The Banana Café is a great brunch pick even if you miss out on the bananas like my group did.

Imagine, a vacation by the sea, overlooking the calm, peaceful, blue-green waters of Key West. Then, picture a quaint little french café, with authentic, fresh food. That’s what I see, when I recall my visit to Banana Café. We walked in at around mid-day on a bright, sunny day, and were seated almost immediately. The hostess/server then took our order, and since it was almost noon, we ordered an omelette and a crêpe. Both of those were really good, and the ingredients fresh. The server was polite and attentive, without being obtrusive. Overall, had a great time at this idyllic little café, and intend to go back on my next vacation in Key West(whenever that is).

Have you ever noticed how many French cafes there are in Key West? If not, let me tell you there is a surprising amount! That being said, we were on our way to another creperie one Sunday morning when Banana Café came into sight. With tummies rumbling, we decided to take the easy route and grab a table here instead of continuing our journey… It ended up being a great decision! Sweet crepes, savory crepes, sandwiches, salads, omelets and more… It was tough deciding what to order! I eventually landed on the ham and cheese quiche, while my better half went with«La Super» crêpe filled with egg, ham, sausage links and topped with mushroom sauce(I said he was my better half, not the lighter). Our food and beverages came out fast which is just what we needed. My quiche came with a side salad that was originally missing but someone spotted the mistake and quickly replaced my dish before I had time to take the first bite. This was one of the tallest pieces of quiche I’ve ever seen! The bits of ham were the perfect size and it was soft and fluffy, not dense like some quiches can be. The crust was flaky and oh my, my mouth is just watering typing this! In true Cassie G fashion, I had a couple bites of the crêpe across from me. It was so yummy! I especially loved the batter they use to make the crêpe and wouldn’t be afraid of assuming all of the varieties are just awesome. Our meal didn’t break the bank. We left very full, happy and ready to lay on the beach all day. Oh, if only every morning could be a Key West morning…

After the prior night of partying, I was slightly hungover and didn’t want to venture any further north on Duval in search of breakfast. The appetizing smell from the kitchen wafted out onto the sidewalk made us take a peek at what the diners were eating out on the open window patio. It was exactly want I wanted. Omelets and coffee. Perfect! I ordered the herb omelet with a side of salad greens and 2 sausages. My husband had scrambled eggs and toast. Coffee was so good, too. Our server was attentive to our drinks and refilled our coffee and water. We told our late coming friends that happened to walk by us as we ate out by the window to come in and get a table. They were happy to have done so as they loved their hamburgers. Very delicious and non-fussy breakfast at great prices.
