Live music constantly and plastic cup drinks. What I generally look for in a dive bar! Clientele is 30s-40s, everyone has a great time.

Worst service ever… I used to be a bartender so I will give the staff the benefit of the doubt and call it an «off» day… I sat down with my girlfriend on a very muggy, hot, but not very busy Monday… we were ignored for about 10 minutes, when the bartender came over to serve us I asked«her» to recommend a strong, sweet, drink? She replied«I don’t know what to tell you to order» and she handed me a menu… really, I get that on a busy Saturday night… but on a slow Monday? I guess the Green Parrot just falls back on the famous Key West Rep and customer service doesn’t matter any more!

A great Key West bar packed full of locals and genuinely friendly people. Great staff! They were courteous and kind during an intensely crazy night. It’s cool to see bar staff keeping it friendly while hustling to keep the service going. This was hands-down my favorite Key West bar.

Nothing but a party. This joint was recommended by a server in the place we stopped for dinner. We walked on over and the place as slammed. Seriously a party in the street. Locos Por Juana was playing and if you haven’t checked them out, you are missing out on a party. We danced a bit then headed out back into the hustle and bustle of Duval Street. If you like lively party dance places, this stop is a must.

Great old dive bar to get a drink and scope out people. Not sure if there was food there probably wouldn’t eat there if there was. Nice grungy place with characters a plenty.

A must visit dive bar! This SMOKING bar mixes an ample stream of locals with tourists and they play well together. Don’t miss the popcorn machine in the corner. Or pool tables. Music most nights.

Loved this laid back place. Wandered in after a hot and humid tour of the Hemingway House for some cold beers. It was cool, the drinks were icy and there was a great little jazz band playing. Perfect atmosphere for relaxing the afternoon away. The free popcorn held us over until we decided to head out for dinner.

Open atmosphere and very casual like most places in the keys. Great rum punch! I also tried a rum runner but it was typical and wasn’t very tasty. Older crowd tends to be congregated there

Great band, typical cocktails, and not the douchey crowd from Duval. Normal folks. Servers were busy, but attentive.

Typical touristy dive bar full of old white people in Tommy Bahama shirts… but I found it inoffensive, and liked it well enough. I came here for drinks one afternoon, and sat at one of the windows facing out onto the street — excellent people watching! Drinks were reasonably priced(I think around $ 6 for a rum & coke), so I had a couple and sat there soaking up the astonishingly-authentic grungy vibe(despite all the Tommy Bahamas in there, it really FELT grungy). Alas, one of my companions is not big on nightlife, so we did not stay for the evening’s entertainment… which honestly looked amazing. If I was to come here again(and I would), I would arrive later in the afternoon and stay for the evening’s live music. It looks like a REALLY fun place to get sloshed and dance!

The Green Parrot«The first and the last bar on Route 1». The Good: 1. Cheap, strong drinks.(If you can’t handle drinking lighter fluid skip the cocktails and stick with beer!) 2. Friendly bartenders and chatty locals. The bar had a decent crowd around noon. #daydrinking 3. Cranked up A/C in the bathroom. This may be the least humid spot in Key West! The Bad: Cigarette smoke. I would have loved to stay longer, but the smell of stale cigarettes was giving me a terrible headache.

What is not to like about the Green a Parrot. Atmosphere, music, bartenders are all great. Tonight was Lil Jimmy Reed, great show.

We were here briefly and never got a drink; the bartender was busy and there was so much stuff to look at. There is free popcorn and fun people. I gotta come back here when I can stay longer.

Only my third time here, seems exactly the same as it was in Christmas 2005 though. Would suggest this establishment to anyone visiting KW. After walking from the Southernmost Point to get here, it was cool inside on a 90 degree day.

This was a fun spot just off Duval. We visited during the day and had a great time. Good selection, great prices, relaxed atmosphere and clean restrooms. Would definitely visit again.

After all these trips to Key West, it’s hard to believe that I’m just finally trying my «namesake» bar! Just off Duval, this seems to be a bit more of a local hangout. In true Key West fashion, it’s open air on the sides and has a great selection of live music. Keep in mind, however, it’s not a terribly big place and the live music is loud. Don’t come in here to chat with friends. The bar is large enough that you can usually grab a drink in short order. If you can’t get a drink at the main bar, there’s a smaller bar at one end of the building that is generally quieter, both in clientele and sound level. You can get your drink to drink there or in plastic so you can carry it around with you. Drink prices are reasonable by Key West standards and their selection is extensive. Oh, and as an added bonus, they have free popcorn ;)

«A SUNNYPLACEFORSHADYPEOPLE» This place is an institution, ranking the #3 favorite bar in the US by America Walks into a Bar. If you are from SoFla or the Florida Keys, then you have most likely stepped foot into the Parrot. Last night we met a group of locals for the 5:30 sound check to hear Big Blue. We arrived around 5:30 via scooter and it was slammed. Luckily we were able to land a parking spot. Patrons poured out onto the sidewalk with their drink of choice to hear the music. Our group congregated near the back bar and service was amazingly quick in spite of the crowd. Beers were cold and the pours consistantly heavy, so be careful. There is a FREE popcorn machine inside against the front wall for people to help themselves. The Green Parrot is an open air bar that opens reasonably early, so if a relaxing cold drink to get out of the hot sun is what you need, than this is a great stop off the beaten path. The usual clientele is always locals with a splash of tourists running mostly in the 35 and up age range. ACTIVITIES — Bingo Mondays — when they feel like doing it — UKULELE Club — monthly get togethers — Bring your Uke! — Juke Box — 5:30 Sound Check — Nightly Band Performances There is an eclectic array of scheduled musicians for the 5:30 sound check and evening shows, so you may want to check the website to see who’s in town while your visiting. Bike, scooter or your two feet are the best methods of transportation to this place. The Green Parrot is located on the corner of Southard and Whitehead.
