Orchid Bar

Fresh fruit juices, infused vodka, and a fantastic bartender Alex. A refreshing stop down Duval St. I’d recommend the gin and juice or Mai Tai!

Stopped in here for some cocktails, although they do have wine and beer. Very small bar, but we liked it, and thought the cocktail size was generous. The bartender was fun. We sat by the pool b/​c the AC in the bar was cranked pretty low, and the laser lights shining down on the pool area gave it a nice feel. This is in a motel but definitely upscale, if U can imagine that. Good enough to come back again. Kind of a surprise, being as it’s in a motel. Nice alternative to the usual loud bars on Duval, if you’re not in the mood for shouting.

I’m very hit or miss on the Orchid Bar after going there for a happy hour. This bar is very tucked away, and while it is public, you don’t really see signs for it and probably only know it’s there because you’re staying at the hotel that surrounds it.
We tried this place out for happy hour, but there are only seven seats at the bar, so because we were four people, we sat outside along the pool. Not the worst place to sit but this is not a large bar by any stretch of the imagination.
The drinks were pretty upscale, with a cocktail menu and some pretty expensive wines by the glass. The happy hour is 20% off the drinks, which isn’t bad, except this place is surrounded by huge discounts during happy hour all around Key West.
I kind of had a problem with how they charge for their drinks. My partner got a generic gin and tonic, and it was $ 8, but then on the bill, they also charge $ 2 for adding ice. Why would it be $ 8 + $ 2, instead of just $ 10? That’s kind of tricky to put one price on the menu and then have some other random addition. The bartender didn’t tell me about it or anything, either.
The service was slow, and for food, they had free snacks like a vegetable tray and some ranch dressing. You definitely can’t fill up here, nor can you order food.
Overall, this is a very secluded bar, so if you’re going for that kind of vibe for your drinks, then this is a good place. This is not a typical Key West bar with sports on TV and draft beer specials, so I would just be cognizant of that.

Fabulous intimate bar set back from the hecticness that is Duval. Wonderful cocktail selection, attentive bartender, and a beautiful setting. Worth a stop!
