Schönes Plätzchen in der Nähe vom Wasser und der belebten Duval St. Essen ist lecker und der Service war wirklich sehr gut !!! Der Aussenbereich ist wirklich schön und gemütlich

This place is terrible. I am a local. I have in Key West most of my life. I would not waste my money again. I ordered the shrimp pasta. My pasta had 3 small shrimp in it. The person next to me had at least 10 and even mentioned that my dish had none! The waiter had a bad attitude. Was a little smart Axx… I would never suggest eating here. I would go to a great place like Santiago’s or Blackfin. Save your money and time. Bad service and inconsistent food.

2 stars only for the nice roof deck. Service was sub par and the food was terribly mediocre. Had the Mediterranean salad ripped with the catch of the day which was terribly overlooked mahi mahi. Flavorless and wilted. When the brought us some salt to try and add a bit of flavor. The salt was dirty and crusted over. Go for some wine and a nice view, not for the food.

Dinner was decent but not overwhelming. We went on Valentine’s day and would have expected a little more finesse. By the time we got there(9.30pm), they were out of some of their main dishes and appetizers which was disappointing. The starters– we had the pork chorizo empanadas and the conch chowder– were probably better than the mains-the mahi mahi and the scallops. There was really nothing wrong about the dishes but they just weren’t that remarkable.

We came to the Mallory Square on the trolley and the driver make an effort to point out this café for its world famous crab cake sandwich. So we had to try it. The drinks are pretty good for a touristy spot and fair in price. I thought the crab cake was great but my dad liked the Cubana sandwich better. Recommend the Taste of Key West. Only reason I gave a 4⁄5 is the service. It is a busy spot and there are quite some people but they could still speed up the service a bit(we waited for 15 minutes at the front for the hostess to come greet us. Once we were seated no waitress came to take our order until another 15 minutes later. Nobody told us it was happy hour all day until we went to the bar for a drink since the waitress could never make her way to our table. So bottom line is go enjoy a nice bite and good drinks here only when you’ve got time to spare.)

We waited 55 minutes for 2 Caesar salads, Mahi Mahi fish tacos, and a roasted pork panini. 55 minutes! I asked the manager why it took so long, she told me «they have a small kitchen and the items we ordered were hard to prep!» Two salads, tacos, and a panini?!? Every table seated after ours received their food before our table. Finally, we had to track down the waitress for the check. She never stopped back to check on us after the extremely long wait for our food to arrive. It took her 3 times to present us with the correct bill! The 1st two checks had food from other tables, no wonder it took 55 minutes for our food to arrive! The manager apologized for the wait but that was all. Our waters were never refilled, we never had an opportunity to order another round of drinks. We were treated as a complete afterthought. I’ll think twice before dining here.

Wonderful break from Duval and the tourist traps. Romantic dinner with my wife after a day in the sun. Drinks were excellent. Split a salad which was well prepared. My Mahi Mahi was perfectly prepared. Worth every penny Great service too. She even took our picture.

Excellent choice for a nice dinner. The empanadas were prepared with a nice pastry. The lobster and gnocchi was delicious and substantial for an appetizer. The shrimp and grits dinner was outstanding. The staff was extremely professional and friendly. Definitely worth a trip.

Awesome place with decent food. The ambience is pretty nice and after having a hectic day at Key west, we choose this place after a small discussion and turned out to be a nice place. The waitress is really nice and we’ve ordered the Mahi Mahi sandwich which was delicious and the french fries are crispy and fresh. Pretty decent place if you are searching for some nice places to hangout at Key West.

There were four of us for a noon lunch and were seated right away. We visited the week after New Years so the crowds were mostly cruise ship passengers spending the day in Key West. Several times we needed something(like another drink) and the other wait staff were very willing too help. Only issue was an order for a diet drink that came out regular… But was quickly replaced before we even noticed. Catch of the day sandwich was awesome! Service was excellent and staff very friendly.

Went for a late night Friday dinner with a group of 4. A little bit off the beaten path from Duval and it was late, so no problems seating us without a reservation. Server seemed a bit frazzled but the food made up for it. Lobster gnocchi and crab cake were spectacular! Probably the best things we had. Sadly they were out of the snapper that 2 of us wanted to order, but we got the filet(surprisingly A+), scallops, seafood pasta(delish), and Mahi mahi. My husband wasn’t impressed by the Mahi but I shared my pasta with him to make up for it. Only thing that was odd was that they kept the red wine refrigerated to keep it from going bad in the Key West heat and humidity, but it was too cold. Literally regular refrigerator temp, not red wine temp.

They need to focus on the details. It’s hard to find REALLY good food in Key West, but Roof Top Café does a decent job. They were recently rated top 8 restaurants by Zagat, but I think they missed the mark here. The service was really positive, friendly, and helpful. The food was okay — not outstanding — but there is potential here. The empanadas were VERY tasty, and the scallops were sweet and cooked to perfection. The risotto and duck confit spring rolls were marginal at best. Bland, lacking flavor. The best thing about this place is the location and a few key dishes. TIPFORTHEMANAGER: Splurge on the $ 24.95/month business subscription to Pandora(or some other streaming service) and avoid the same song on repeat over and over and over(15 times for 1 song, 6 times for another) again — which is seriously torturing your guests. We couldn’t take it and didn’t stay for dessert or another glass of wine. This lack of additional sales(an extra ~$ 40 on the tab?) would have paid for this service with 1 customer in 1 hour. It’s the little things that draw the line between a mediocre and great restaurant.

The food is good but bit overpriced. I found that the service still need some improvements since the service fee and tips are so high compared with their quality. I’m sure there must be some better place to go in town but if you have to go to this café, lobster appetizer and shrimp pasta wouldn’t go wrong.

This is kind of a ‘special’ review because I actually ate and drank here for a wedding reception — maybe the best reception I was ever part of, due to the food, service and beverages. The place itself is really nice and has a great vibe to it. It keeps the beach feel while instilling a classy side to it, and our whole area upstairs was separate from the rest of the establishment. The bride and groom decided to spoil everyone for traveling from Michigan to Florida for their wedding, so 40 people were treated to a feast of epic proportions. First, they had chips with salsa and guacamole — arguably the best guac and salsa I have had anywhere. Just addicting. Then, there were steak stewers, bruschetta, fried mushrooms, smoked salmon on top of cucumbers — and these were all appetizers! It was unbelievable how great all the food was. And it was like the Neverending Story — the food just kept coming, and coming, and coming. We still had two entrees and a salad to eat! You know I indulged, though. The service was spectacular, A+++. Everyone was working together to get things out quick, and our waitress never messed up one drink for our table of six — and we were the alcoholic table! We probably got 6 or 7 drinks each during that evening(free drinks, yo!). I even told her she was a master of her craft. The entrees just kept amazing me. I ordered pulled pork empanadas — just excellent. Tender yet crispy. The salad came after the first entrée, and it was a great garden salad with good dressing. And for the last entrée, I ordered mahi mahi. WOAHHH! I’m sorry Flipper but your cousin tasted great. You could cut through it like butter, and it was covered with asparagus. I was actually the one to eat all my entrees 100 percent [hold the applause, please]. The tropical cover band was also amazing, and maybe the best wedding band I ever saw. they played The Beatles, Sublime, Van Morrison — everything. Wish I could remember their name, but they made the night complete. This place was a great choice for a 40-person reception. Everyone was treated like kings and queens, both with the service and the food/drinks. Also, here is a link if anyone wants a group party here: I LOVEDTHISPLACE !

I wish I had made it here for breakfast but I was quite pleased with lunch. The Cuban sandwich here is delicious! The sandwich came with fries, thin ones that were very well salted. My wife had the blackened mahi sandwich, which was almost very good. Nobody left here unhappy or hungry, and that is a great compliment for a restaurant!

We were searching for a place to take the Mahi and tuna we caught the day before and turn it in to something impressive — and we found it 100%in Rooftop Café. Called several places around the Keys to check out the options on «cook your catch». Most places said a) they won’t bother; b) fried, grilled, blackened, etc.; or c) — smother it in something so you can’t take taste the fish anymore. The chef tonight at Rooftop — took our fish and elevated it to hero status :) Black fin tuna sashimi, togarashi seared tuna, and then a family style serving of their house style mahi with mango salsa and citrus beurre blanc. These guys seemed to actually have fun dealing with cook your catch. And what an amazing experience to be able to enjoy the fruits of your labor that way! This truly made our vacation, and we’ll be recommending it to friends for years to come.(The short stroll across the street to Mallory square was pretty epic as well, don’t know if we could have walked a lot further after all that food!)

The reviews are spot on. Truly delicious food with amazing flavors. The lobster gnocchi is very rich and delicious. Could be a meal in and of itself. I tried everyone’s dish and likes almost everything that they ordered better than mine. Scallops were divine. Bite of the filet — top notch. High end steak house quality. Conch chowder good. My mahi fish dinner was ok in comparison to the others. The best was the seafood curry special. Totally different flavor than what was anticipated. Thanks chef. You outdid yourself Plus our server was truly great. Come and visit

We were looking for a place to have dinner by the water. Not knowing where to go I relied on trusty Unilocal reviews. The reviews for rooftop café we’re pretty much amazing. Located just a few blocks off Duval, and above some stores. is super cute and that you can sit outside or inside and the inside looks like you’re basically in this very Caribbean style treehouse. Outside you basically see all of the wharf side of Key West. We opted to sit inside under these beautiful wicker tree leaf fans. Onto the main part of this review were the most important part of this review… The food. We ordered the frozen peach mojitos. They were very tasty and refreshing. Their wine list is pretty long… So if you are a wino(like myself, but I’m in Key West so I want a fruity drink) you’ll be set. We ordered the duck spring rolls. They were outstanding. They come with a mango Thai sauce. The duck was super tender and flavorful. Not gamey at all. My sister and I shared the lobster gnocchi and also their special of the tuna tartare appetizer. I cannot begin to explain how delicious the lobster gnocchi was. It is super rich so I recommend you ordering that appetizer just as a meal. But the sauce was so garlicky and so creamy that I am ready. There are large pieces of lobster. They do not skimp on the lobster. Other people at our table got the shrimp and grits. And also the seafood pasta. The grits were outstanding although a little watery. The view is amazing the food was amazing I will definitely make this a stable when we come back to Key West.

Went to Key West with a group of 17 and prior to going, we decided that one night we would have a nice dinner with all of us. This is the place that we chose. We called a few weeks ahead, and then called again that morning just to make sure we had the reservation. The hostess was very nice. Upon getting there for out 7:30 reservation, they had this beautiful table for us set up outside under the trees decorated in white lights. The atmosphere couldn’t have been better! Our waiter Nathan was great. He was down to earth and very patient with our crowd. He was also able to divide the checks up between people and couples right off the bat so we wouldn’t have credit card madness after a great meal. The service was a little slow, but I loved it because it gave us time to drink, relax, enjoy each others company, and just take it all in. The food was delicious. I’d recommend the Herb dusted goat cheese salad. I think it may have said something about being award winning. The entrée portions were rather large too! You won’t be paying $ 28 for a small 2 oz filet! So come hungry! Upon passing this place, walking around, I don’t think I would have thought it was anything great, but it was! If you’re looking for seafood, something with a great atmosphere, and great drinks. go here!

Sehr leckeres, frisches Essen in tollem Ambiente!
