The Bull & Whistle Bar

Typical old school KW bar with 3 very different levels. I like the second where you can sit out on a balcony. The top level is clothing optional but I’ve seldom seen anyone take advantage of it. A favorite of mine and a must stop.

I really enjoyed the second floor bar. Our bartender was very friendly and gave us great service. The balcony outside was fun for about 5 minutes but the general rickety look to it and my aversion to ledges led us back in. Apparently they are under new management– we were told that they were closing the first two levels for a private event at 9:00. The bartender said she’d not heard anything and was as shocked as we were when a very unpleasant bouncer forced us all out. To the credit of the bartender upstairs at Garden of Eden (who also had no idea there was an event), she honored the drink specials we had downstairs.

Went to the Whistle bar today. The bartender is a total dick. There are over 500 hundred bars on Duvall Street so why go to a bar where the bartender is having a bad day and takes it out on the customer? He is an old guy with long gray hair… avoid him like the plague.

I do not have a lot to say about this place. It is good for drinks and a lot of fun. We were just out and about and stopped by. The singers/​show were in drag– not girls though I suspect many did not know that. People were definitely have a good. time. Part of what makes key west a fun place.

Th waitress is very disrespectful and I am sorry I might be employed here but on nights off we are to be treated as a guest not as a oddball
Vicky is very disrespectful and since when do seats at the bull have assigned names or special priveleges.
Also there barker needs to mind her business and do her job instead of worrying about others or there business

I came here during Fanatsy Fest 2015. I liked the name & set up. Most of all– I liked that they held on to my credit card because in my drunken stupor, I left it at the bar. In my defense their bill was weird, they gave it to me on a piece of diner scratch pad paper and… Honestly. I don’t know what was going on but I was able to pick up my card the next day at he liquor store next to it. I ordered a drink and had to order 2 because they have a credit card minimum of God knows how much. ALSO, they take their sweet ass time to greet you and to assist you… Maybe it’s a Key West thing. Everything is so laid back, and no one rushes to do anything. bleh. I’ll be back.

One of the bartenders in the downstairs bar was incredibly rude. May have been the worst service I’ve ever received. Won’t rush back here any time soon

We got drawn into the Whistle Bar by the offer of 2−4−1 drinks and the balcony overlooking Duval St. The bartender was uncomfortably talkative and I wasn’t a fan of the whiskey sour I ordered. It’s a nice place to sit outside and people watch for a bit but I probably wouldn’t return.

Visit the second floor bar for some pool or darts and best people-​watching in KW (from the wraparound balcony).
The lackluster beer selection and filthiness would normally earn this place a lower rating but the bartender was friendly and moving at an acceptable pace.
We may be back for some pool…

My wife twisted her knee while playing darts. It was a previous injury that she aggravated. I was helping her down the stairs when a bouncer came up to me and criticized how I was helping her and said he would «carry her out.» He was sweaty (there’s no AC in this bar) and sleeveless. He was overbearing and basically bullying us, saying that her coming to his bar with a previous injury presented a liability to them and that he «had to carry her out.» When we refused again he started yelling at us and told us to never come back.
This staff members behavior was ridiculous, we were completely sober, and were already just trying to get her home without further injury. I will tell all of my friends to avoid this bar. We won’t be back.

Avoid the Bull!!! Disgusting cocktails — the margarita is the worst I ever had. Bartender was super impolite, she should not work with direct customer contact at all.
Go UPSTAIRS to the Whistle Bar, more expensive but a lot better…

While on a cruise to Key West, I created pub crawl to experience the best bars in Key West. This was the last stop on the pub crawl, and we only had time for shots of Jameson and something else that I can’t remember. The bartender and patrons were warm and friendly, and made us feel at home. I definitely recommend visiting this bar on your visit, and don’t let the clothing optional scare you.

I do not usually leave bad reviews but yesterday we had a bad experience with the bartender Lorraine, we had two margaritas which certainly very rich, we asked for the bill and we paid
After that the bartender lorraine ignored us completely, she was very prepotent and arrogan with my wife for not giving tip, my intention is always to tip for service but when you are forced to leave a tip for something that was not a good service that horrible

Pretty good place to sit upstairs and watch what’s happening on the street.
They had a great band playing and we had lots of fun.

Never bring a large party to bar, they will actually try to deter you from ordering drinks. Worst service in Key West!!!

«The Liver is Evil It Must Be Punished» Interesting Duval dive bar. Good for one drink before moving on.

Ducked in with 4 women this visit as it was the closest in this direction to our B-​n-​B once we kicked off on foot.
I’ve been before. Three levels. Clothing optional on top on the Sundeck. Cool and historic pictures inside.
My favorite level is the second story. But beware crazy Russian Broads who attack when you least expect it.
Live music most of the time on the first floor.

Nothing special… a fine bar in Key West. We stopped in and had a beer. Very chill atmosphere. Not a lot happenin’. I would come back for a break from some of the Duval craziness.

Huge spot with some really cool space and paintings on the wall. They have a live guitar player/​song writer (in our case, it was a bigger guy who hits on people’s wives and girlfriends), but it was funny nontheless. We just swung in for a beer while experiencing old town Key West, but the prices weren’t bad at all.
*If you’re visiting like we were, go to the town’s Visitors Center and grab a coupon book. They have coupons for buy one, get one Margarita free at Bull and Whistle. Helped with the bill…
2 beers, a margarita, and a coke ran us about $ 17. Not too SHABBY. But it’s not too service-​friendly, and not really too good of ANYTHING. Standard vibe, just a local watering hole that HAPPENED to be closest for us to hydrate…
