Not the biggest fan. My sister and I wanted to stop here for dinner. We waited about 30 minutes for the waitress or bartender to ask what we wanted but they didn’t. This was on a very slow night as well. We also heard them talking a lot of shit about customers. Not good service.

Pretty friendly for a mainly locals place. Needs more characters to be a review. Hope this makes it long enough …

Holy smokes. Hell of a pub, in Maui. Shoot, hell of a pub for the States! Our server treated us like kama’aina even though we were obviously ha’olé from the mainland. Loudish local hangout with fantastic grub imho. Go there. Lilia is a fine dammed server.

Reminded me of an Irish Pub I used to go to in college. Great service, great atmosphere and delicious fish & chips! Mahalo! :)

We came here while we were waiting for Sansei to open. The staff was super friendly. And even though there were a bunch of locals, we found ourselves welcomed by staff and local alike. I liked the vibe in general and the seating is plentiful whether in the front, inside or back. It’s a chill place(at least during the day) and it was nice to just chat in the sun out front. My wine was fine, but my husband complained of the taste in his whiskey. Though with that said, he said it tasted odd everywhere we went. Oh well!

Great spot to grab a beer. They often have live music… sometimes it’s pretty good. Friendly bar staff and quick service!

I went here with my husband for a drink after dinner one evening. The waitress was unfriendly. The atmosphere wasn’t nice in the bar, it was really rough to be honest. We finished our drinks quickly and left as soon as we could. We found Tiki lounge to be a much nicer bar to have a few drinks. Also it is nothing like an Irish bar, without doubt the worse bar/Irish bar we visited. I would say avoid this place, there are much nicer bars in Kehei.

Mixed experiences here– two four star visits and one zero star visit. If you read all the reviews, it sure seems like Dog and Duck have a service consistency problem, but can be quite good also. First visit I sat out back and a super friendly female server was really on it– kept checking back and made sure I had everything I needed. I had chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, and it was quite tasty. Not sure what the gravy was made from, but I enjoyed it. There was a veggie with the meal but I’ve now forgotten what it was. One thing I appreciate is that they(unlike so many places on the mainland) actually serve a lager– Stella. Relatively easy to find in Maui, but hard back home, so I’m grateful.(No, Coors Light and Bud Light don’t qualify!!) Second visit I sat out back on the deck. Waited and waited while the server waited on other tables on the deck but ignored me. So I eventually got up and walked inside and approached her and asked for a menu and if she would please come by and take a drink order. I was very pleasant and acted like I had just arrived. I went back to my table on the back deck and waited and waited and waited and no one ever waited on me even though folks on the other side of he back deck got service. So I left the place. Third visit, I sat on the front deck and was quickly greeted by a very pleasant female server who was very attentive throughout my meal. I wasn’t all that hungry but ended up ordering a Reuben sandwich. I asked it they cooked it on a flat grill(she said yes) and would they please be willing to grill it in real butter rather than vegetable oil(or worse), and she said yes. My Reuben was very tasty and grilled perfectly. It did not contain a lot of corned beef, but frankly, I never appreciated the«meatball» approach to a deli sandwich anyway. It was a little chewy in places, not sliced paper thin as many delis serve it. But it had good flavor, as did the dressing and sauerkraut. The Stage Deli is not threatened by this sandwich. But c’mon, it was LESSTHAN $ 10! It came with fries that were actually fried(vs. limp and yellow) and showed signs of coming from real potatoes. Score on the meal. I also enjoyed a Smithwicks and a Stella and got out for less than $ 20. I call that a great value. I will come back. But if by any chance the Dog and Duck management reads these reviews, I would encourage you to review your expectations with your servers– some of them just don’t get it, while others are terrific. You could take this place from good to great by canning those who just don’t care.

We(five guys) ordered drinks. 3 beers, a tequila rocks and a water. 5 minutes later our drinks arrive. But not the water. «Are the specials on the chalk board outside real?» «Yes they are. Until football is over.» Sweet… Where did she go. My beer is still empty. Is she running the clock down? WTF This started out as a four star review. Three… Two… WTF? Seriously. No service. All industry.

Dog n Duck, Maui Found this hole in the wall thinking it would have been a good place to watch football, eat, drink and be merry… Could not have been more off base. This local Irish pub is nothing close to what an Irish pub is. TV placement is poor with vision obscured by signs hanging from the walls and ceilings. The food is below sub-standard. Ordered Fish and Chips which appeared and tasted as if it was dug out of a three week old pot of oil. The drinks were watered down and over priced. Asked for Makers Mark and watched the bartender pour bottom shelf whiskey. No stars for me, in fact several minus points. Irish pub? Not even close. Try O’reilly’s in Manhattan, Black Thorn in Boston or even Kells Irish Pub in Portland, OR

It’s a pub, and it’s quite small. Their happy hour is $ 2 Coor’s and Bud Light. The food was decent. I ordered the Fisherman’s Pie and a whole order of the peel-n-eat shrimp. The problem with a lot of shrimp places is that once you take the shell of the shrimp most times a lot of flavor goes right along with the shell. That was the case here. The shells tasted good, but once they were odd the shrimp was quite bland. I used the included garlic toast to soak up most of the sauce. My cousin’s girlfriend and my cousin ordered the roasted chicken, it came out looking nothing like I expected it to. It didn’t seem roasted St all, it seemed more fried and breaded than anything. Their chicken was served with mashes potatoes and peas. Now my meal was the Fishermans pie like I already mentioned. The menu indicates that it’s a fish and shrimp pie in a white wine sauce topped with potatoes and cheese. This was more of a chowder than anything. For a smaller guy, I can eat quite a bit but because this was so thick from the potato, i could barely ear a third of it. Our waitress asked if I didn’t like it, but I let her know that it was too filling for my liking. I wish it was more sauce than potato then I would be happy. I do appreciate the somewhat wide selection of beers they have, but I don’t imagine myself actually making anything trip here.

Hands down, the BEST watering hole on the island. Excellent, loving and lovely bartenders, wonderful proprietors, and splendid food, this is an institution in Kihei for a reason. Check out Trivia Night on Thursdays – it’s a blast.

Well, I enjoy a dive bar and the food they serve every now and then. I have not idea how anyone rates this above one star. If there was a half a star option I would be on it. The only cool thing about it… it is a dive bar. The people were fun to watch. A local biker club invaded the place when we were there. Comparing knives was the highlight of the night. I ordered fish and chips, over cooked and dry. No seasoning at all. Wife had the Ono, she said oh noooo this is bad. There are plenty of other cool spots that are close by, sad we chose this place.

I really love this place. friendly staff and they serve Guinness. Cant say anything about the food I have never tried it. My neighbor said my cooking was better(corned beef and cabbage) he tried theirs and mine but I don’t own a restaurant. ??? Bartenders are polite and cool.

I went here with my cousin on a Saturday afternoon few months ago. Can’t say all that much about the drinks here, but can definitely say that they’ve got really good food! The chicken pot pie was amazing. The bartender was nice & lot of friendly local folks…

We saw this place on the«Maui» channel from our hotel room. This place was recommended and yet, highly over rated… food was so so. BUT, this place is open late and serves food late. Customer service was super friendly… so we had a good time. But our guiness tasted water down, the fries came out burnt(not crispy like we requested), and the drinks were not consistent. However, late night place with good music, cool Vibe of people and decent drinks… need a place to hang out??? This place could work…

Gritty dive bar with all the trimmings. Bartender was quick to serve and greet. A good disposition to get drinks and with speed. Irish themed bar with cool signage. Seating out back was nice, thought the wind was going to blow a bit better out there. They had a couple of TVs, one showing golf. A Harley in the parking lot. A rowdy fella having a birthday. Mediocre beer selection. Shocktop, Domestics, Stella, Kona. Good spot in Kihei to drink with the regulars.

We came here to watch the USA-Portugal world cup game and had such a great time! Although there are no American Outlaws fan clubs in Maui this place was pretty packed with supporters cheering on the boys in Red, White, and Blue. Somehow the lone server was able to handle the entire raucous crowd by herself! And with a smile on her face! She had some serious wait skills — serious props to her. The food here is pretty good. I enjoyed the shepherd’s pie and wings very much although I thought the corned beef was very dry. Drinks are very reasonable and it’s a friendly, fun, atmosphere. I would recommend stopping by if you need a drink.
