Dinner was excellent, service was excellent and the sushi was out of this world. The chef even made a specialty roll for me, mind blowing.

Great find in strip mallish location sandwiched between hotels. Discovered by a couple we ate dinner with the night before so we decided to check it out mid afternoon after golfing The Plantation Course. Yes instead of lunch at the clubhouse we decided to seek out this place and so happy we did. Arrived about 2:30 thinking it would be busy. It’s a small location with only a few tables so put our name on list and went to buy beer at nearby convenience store per the recommendation of server/host. Ordered TNT roll and Miso Phat roll. Both great but my favorite was sashimi. Scallop, yellow tail, salmon. All amazing.

Came here for lunch. Highest rated and open for lunch. Sushi chef RJ was amazing. Nobu trained and has the skill for sure. Sat at the bar and it was amazing. Best sushi on the island. Will be back.

Food is good, although we found it far too expensive. A special roll is $ 20 which is at least $ 5 too much. Just be sure to pay in cash to save 15%. Best bet? The Poke bowl for $ 15.

Awesome rolls and great fish! Price is a little bit more but it is well well worth it. Rolls are phat and love you the fact that you can«bring your own», definitely saves on the bill. Will be coming back at least once a week. So glad we decided on this place for Valentines Day! John the sushi guy… outstanding!

Stopped by here during a casual lunch on a recommendation during our visit to Maui, we were so blown away that we came back the next night for dinner. Sushi Chef JR took care of us both times, this man knows his craft! We had the miso phat roll, an assortment of nigiri, all amazing. But what really made both meals absolutely out of this world were his specials. After learning about my love of uni, JR proceeded to make a delicious concoction of uni wrapped in flounder, dry miso, a spritz of yuzu, cilantro leaf and a dot of siracha. The balance of flavor was just beautiful. For dinner, his creation was shrimp tempura wrapped in amberjack with asparagus, tobiko on top, sprouts, spicy mayo and sesame seeds. The subtle lightness of the amberjack, mixed with the slight crunch of the tempura and the sweet and saucy overlay made this roll truly fantastic. I wish I lived in Maui, just so I can frequent this place.

The food was excellent, and the portions were ample. The specialty rolls were creative. I ordered a baked yellowtail roll, which I had never had before and it was very tasty. The service was very attentive, but the chefs were very loud in talking to a customer. Overall the noise was a distraction, however, the real knock on this place is that it is overpriced. Three dollars for a cup of green tea after spending $ 25 a piece for two custom sushi rolls seems a bit much. At home the tea would be complimentary along with some edamame. As good as the food was, I don’t think we would go back. There are too many other places to try.

I gave Miso Phat 5 stars because it was exactly what we were looking for. A small, quaint, sushi bar that could deliver the best of the best sushi. The owner made us feel at home, and gave us his suggestions. It’s BYOB, but there’s a store next door. How fun(and cheap) is that! Ok, the ahi looks flourescent. I can’t believe how fresh it is. ANY roll you choose, you can’t go wrong. and they’re extremely filling. Go here if you are a sushi lover!!!

I wouldn’t hesitate to eat here again. Delicious sushi, fun chefs, and no ridiculous long term reservations needed. Well, so far. These folks do it right.

We’ve eaten at the one in Kahana several times & love it for the freshness of the fish, the perfect never-mushy rice, and great flavor combinations. It IS a little pricey, but I’d rather get one big, super fresh roll here than two of lesser quality & size from its closest competitor. The Kihei location’s food is just as good as Kahana. The space is bigger, which is good, and for now it’s BYOB, but they hope to have their liquor license in a few months. I love the Joy roll, the hamachi nigiri, and the spicy tuna roll(I do judge a sushi restaurant by its ability to make a good spicy tuna — it is either a mayonnaise-y mess, or a delicious bite of fresh ahi with a punch. Miso Phat does it right!) Now that I’m a south sider, this is going to be my go-to sushi place. Try it out — you won’t regret it!

This sushi was amazing! Had some of their fresh caught fish from this morning for lunch and it didn’t even need any soy sauce added to it. The owner even came in and brought in more fresh caught fish an let us take a look at it. Also, the lillikoi ice cream is a homemade ice cream and the lillikoi(passion fruit) was grown fresh in the owner’s backyard. If you are looking for the freshest fish on the island and great service this is the place!

Went to lunch here with my sister recently and it was the oddest experience I’ve had. The restaurant felt a bit small, but it was clean and tidy. It’s only been open a couple of months, so everything is still new and nice. There were 4 or 5 bar height, beautiful raw edge wood slab table tops and a bar that seats about 10. It was pretty quiet when we arrived, but had a few other parties once we left. If the rating were strictly on food quality, taste, and presentation, it’d be a 5 because the food was outstanding. The prices are expensive; $ 8 for basic rolls, $ 20+ for specialty rolls. I’m always willing to pay for good food, and we walked out spending $ 100 including tip for a party of 2. The main reason for the 3 star rating was the manager Scott, who was our server, and the owner(didn’t get his name). Scott greeted us at the door, and the place was empty. We sat at the bar and he asked us if we’d been there before, we said no. He proceded to explain everything on the menu and things not on the menu before we even had a chance to look at it. He explained things as if we’d never seen sushi before in our lives, which was a bit off-putting. He finally left us alone long enough to look it over and we ordered a few items to start. I’m all for having attentive wait staff, but overall he was too chatty/pushy for my taste. We got our food and it was really good, so we ordered more as we ate. He was overly eager to clear plates and would reach over us to grab things, even MOVINGMYCHOPSTICKSOFF A PLATE onto another one so he could take it. Never in my life have I had anyone touch my utensils, THAT I WASSTILLUSING, to clear a plate away. Mind you, it was a small plate that wasn’t in my way at all, and he had to reach over me to grab it. I was totally weirded out at this point. At different points in our meal 3 other pairs came in to eat, 1 new, 1 regular, and 1 a family member of the kitchen staff. The owner also showed up. He spoke with the other groups and seemed friendly. He then went into the back of the restaurant and brought out a fish he had just caught. He preceded to show it to the family member pair, then over to us as we were waiting for our last items to come up. He asked if we wanted to see what we were eating for lunch as he brandished the fish 6 inches from my sisters back. It was so close I put my hand up to ensure she didn’t lean back too much and brush against it. She turned and commented on it and he asked her if she wanted to touch it’s eyeball. She declined, so he preceded to ask me if I wanted to give it a kiss, and shoved its bloody mouth within inches of my own. I’m not bothered by him showing the fish to us, but no need to wave it around like a proud frat boy. It wasn’t the most professional move on his part and just was uncomfortable. Then we get to the end of our meal and I ask Scott for our check. He asks about us not wanting to get desert, to which we simultaneously reply no. He disregarded our no and proceeded to explain that the ice cream was homemade and listed about 5 flavors. We insisted no since we had somewhere to be and were already full. He then tells us that because we dined in and it was before 5pm, if we pay cash we’d get 15% off our bill. We choose that option, but it felt odd the way he offered it. Almost shady like, but I heard him offer it to the pair of newcomers earlier. I understand credit card processors charge a bunch and businesses prefer cash, but it just was weird. During the meal, we spoke to the guys behind the bar, and they were friendly local guys. Professional and nice, but were funny and still open to our joking around with them. The good food, and the guys behind the bar made the lunch good, but the owner and manager were too much for me and I was happy to leave. I wish there were more sushi options in Kihei, but oh well. Next time I’m in town I’ll try them again to see if my experience is better. If it is, I’ll adjust my rating.

My wife and I settled on this newly opened sushi bar for our annual trip to Hawaii. We were very pleasantly surprised. The service was excellent thanks to Carin and Joy. The sushi was delicious and fresh and the chefs were outstanding. So much in fact that we frequented this place twice during the week of our stay. Be sure to bring your own alcohol(beer, wine, etc.) as the staff were happy to keep it cool for us as we enjoyed it during our meal.

If you’re looking for great sushi in Kihei, definitely try this place! Sushi quality and tastefulness matched the prices; service was great overall and they even threw in Kamaaina discount. The tables could be bigger though… we had only 4 people in our party and it got crowded with food fast. The 2 highlights of our meal included Uni(sold market price) but served with an appetizing qual egg and the Dynamite which was the biggest one we’ve ever had and it was delicious! Lastly, I just wished they served Chawanmushi… first sushi spot I’ve been to with no Chawanmushi!

The sushi was really good and you get big portions for the 8 bucks you’re spending. The rolls were ok and that’s why I went with 3 stars instead of 4. Also, the store size is super small. I would say there is about 20 seats in the whole place. I would eat here again and the staff is great.

This place is pretty good but beware of sticker shock. We got the sake and hamachi sashimi– so 9 pieces of fresh fish of each for $ 29/each. That’s a little more than $ 3/piece of fish! Yikes! We also got the butter fish miso Kama which was also tasty– though nothing out of the ordinary for miso sablefish. We wanted to order Toro– but at $ 28 for 2 pieces of nigiri we decided not to. I had amazing Toro in San Francisco last week and paid half of that… So no thank you to the 200% markup. If you want fresh sushi and have money to burn, come on down.

This is a brand new sushi restaurant located in Azeka’s in Kihei. I had been anticipating this restaurant as there are NO good sushi places to have lunch in on the south shore. Most places are evening only. First off the sushi was spectacular. The fish was REALLY fresh and tasty and firm. It was top quality fish all the way. The miso soup was mediocre. They could have had more seaweed, tofu, and other bits in it. It was mostly broth. Seems like something that could easily be improved. The edamame was perfect. Maybe a little more salt, but excellent none the less. The rolls were very tasty and very fulfilling. The portions are decent sized in all regard. One of my criticisms is the place is damn cold. They have the AC going and the duct points right at the sushi bar seating area and it is literally blowing on you. I think if they just shifted their AC grill upward and instead of downward, it would solve that issue. Next time I go here, I may bring a jacket. It was that cold. My other criticism is the place is a little bit on the pricey side. I realize they are new and small and need to make sure the places survives long term, so I can empathize with that. Just as a point of reference, the Sashimi Platter(9 pieces) is comparable to the Sashimi Trio at Sansei’s(9 pieces) which both include Tuna, Salmon, and Hamachi, is priced at $ 29 at Miso Phat, and at Sansei’s its priced at: $ 17.95. Sansei’s can probably afford a slimmer margin on the food since they serve alcohol and have an older lease for their space. One nice thing about this place is they offer a 15% discount when you pay cash which helps offset the prices a little bit. I would absolutely come back and eat here again. I hope they have great success and fix their AC. Mahalo!
