Wasn’t aware of this restaurant until they were giving out food samples at TAMUCT. I instantly fell in love. The bulgogi is just the best. And I hadn’t heard of a such thing beforehand. I’ve been trying to hunt this place down since I stop seeing the truck near my home lol

Great food! We had the Kimchi quesadillas, Bulgogi tacos, and Kimchi fries… all were amazing! I’d highly recommend checking this place out.

Always hot and fresh! Spicy chicken tacos, bulgogi mmmm everything on the menu I have tried is delicious! Highly recommend this food truck!

Ugh, I hate to be the Debbie Downer for this food truck… let’s just put that out there.
Living in Hawaii food trucks are a HUGE deal there. There is even one day a month solely dedicated for food trucks and for people to go out and try the foods. So when I heard about this food truck I was excited! Korean fusion? Heck yes! And there is a lot of hype that surrounds LaTaKorea.
Unfortunately, it was a bit of a disappointment to me. Maybe it was over hyped, but it definitely didn’t live up to expectations.
We tried the Kimchi Nachos, Mofongo, Bulgogi Grilled Cheese, Spicy Pork Bulgogi Tacos, and the Bi Bim Bop. Yes! That’s how excited we were to try their food!
First off, food presentation is pretty great. Now…
The Kimchi Nachos were okay, nothing special, and idk how they make the chips but they were not crunchy… they were hard to bite into in that sort of rubbery way. You know, when you have to have it move around your teeth a bit until it eventually breaks down? Bad batch maybe. My dad didn’t feel inclined to finish it.
When my father asked how the mofongo was part of the fusion they said it was due to some oil flavoring they use within it. My dad thought that was too simple of a fusion (I agree) and so he suggested bulgogi pieces or kimchi added in which they happily obliged with (which was cool of them). Unfortunately there wasn’t much to the Mofongo even with the added fusion. Want good mofongo? Go to La Garita, Tex-​rican, or Hierba Fresca.
Bulgogi Grilled Cheese was good. Simple. My son enjoyed it a bit but it wasn’t a dish worthy of ordering again.
The Bi Bim Bop was good! That one we all really enjoyed. No fusion that I saw but I truly enjoyed this dish. If I ever came by this truck on a hungry stomach I’d order this again.
My sister ordered the spicy pork bulgogi tacos and she enjoyed that one as well.
At the end of our humongous sampling of LaTaKorea food we all had a unanimous impression… it’s alright, but nothing special. Not great but by no means bad. It has a lot of potential, especially with the theme, but at this moment we just aren’t impressed.
I swear we’re not snooty!
I do want to try the donut bulgogi sandwich. In Hawaii they would make a burger with malasadas in place of the buns and it was DA bomb! Maybe there’s will be the same :)
I’ll leave it with 3 stars with hopes of improvement and more creativity.

Two words… AMAZING BULGOGI. this place is such a great find. I really, really liked the cucumber kimchi too. Korean fusion deliciousness at the finest

I had the Bulgogi & Spicy Pork Bulgogi tacos!!! Amazing! So juicy and tasty! Yum! This place has great reviews for a good reason! It is worth it to try this place just once!!! You will love it. Took about 15min for my food, not bad… I wish I would have been able to try more things on the menu!!! Check it out, you won’t be disappointed :)

I had the kimchee grilled cheese with added egg and bulgogie (sp?) it was creamy and savory.

No doubt about it this is the best food truck I have ever eaten at. Friendly staff who help make your experience the best from start to finish. I have tried just about everything on the menu and have zero complaints (which doesn’t happen very often, I’m a complainer… lol). Big shout out to Chef Akira and his amazing staff! Keep up the amazing work guys!!! :)

Self trained Chef Akira McNeil has a skill set and a passion for food that belongs in 5 Star Restaurant. His dishes will have you saying phrases to describe your food that you’ve never used before, that’s if your not left speechless. His truck stays surgically clean and everything is made fresh to order. My personal favorite is the Pork Belly burrito and K Dog. The Bi Bim Bop is no joke. If you go there once, you will be hooked. So stop with the fast food chains and the places that leave you food sitting underneath heat lamp. For you next lunch, try LaTaKorea, you will not be disappointed. Tell him Molly Mike sent ya.

Korean fusion food that will knock your socks off. Very diverse menu with something for everyone. The amount of food you get for the price is unrivaled. Owner operated with customer satisfaction the highest priority. Would recommend this to anyone I meet even if they were a professional chef. LaTaKorea is legit and a must have when your in the area!!!

Absolutely delicious, I was skeptical about it due to it being a food truck however I was blown away! I truly enjoyed what I had, which was the baby bowl with spicy beef… I HIGHLY recommend La Ta Korea to everyone that wants to have their taste buds explode with excitement!!!

Great place to get some hybrid Korean food! I’m living in Oklahoma and I come to visit Killeen about a once month or so and found this place on Facebook from some friends and I’m loving the dishes he makes! My mom swore up and down there is no kimchi nachos here and only in cali and I brought home the nachos and my mom is loving the food too! Find them on Facebook! Great addition to Killeen!

Extraordinary Korea Fusion food. Chef Akira has mastered the flavors in all his dishes to perfection. Prepare to become addicted to the explosion of flavor in your mouth, from the bulgogi lettuce wraps to the Mac and cheese egg rolls. Ensure you get enough for everyone because you will not want to share!!! I’ve been enjoying Akira’s food since he was delivering, and now that he has taken it a step further and to the streets of Killeen, I continue to support him. New items are added to the menu on a regular bases… A must try!
