Absolutely delicious, delicious food. The chicken mole burrito doesn’t stand a chance when it stands on a plate in front of me. I’d even lick the plate if it was socially acceptable. While still relatively new to this restaurant, I can’t say I’ve tried everything but everything I’ve tried has been amazing. Pork a la pibril is simply succulent, any of the quesadillas, the carne asada burrito. All delicious! And to boot — they have the nicest young man as waiter/host. Such genuine customer service. I adore this place!

Always a great experience. The food is very fresh(server literally prepares guacamole in front of you). While there is no alcohol served you can bring your own with no problem. Highly recommend giving this place a try.

Service was great. Young waiter even taught us how to use a high chair as a base for our baby’s car seat. The chipotle cauliflower tacos are amazing! It was a special and SPECIAL it was. Highly recommend this place. Large dining room. Seems family-run which is always nice. Clean bathroom too(and large for mommy and baby).

This is a pleasant surprise in the mix of Uptown Kingston restaurants and I am sorry I have not stopped in sooner. I liked the sauce for the hips as well as the brown sauce in the entrée which they gladly converted to vegan. I believe all the dishes are prepared there. Owner Jose Velasco, who worked in several restaurants in Phoenicia, NY told me they have an array of 10 homemade sauces. While this may look similar to so many formula Mexican restaurants, it is not.

I think this has the potential to be one of the best and most authentic Mexican restaurants in Kingston or the given vicinity. The food is delicious and well prepared, though I would agree with the other posts, the rice needs work as does the salsa which tastes pre-made. I like that a Mexican family actually owns and operates it from front to back, while I feel service at times is slow that may have be an adjustment issue most new restaurants have to deal with. It should be more popular than it is and hopefully will be. Ive not had a bad meal there, aside from the lack luster rice and salsa, they cook with balanced ingredients and the food is well presented. Ive been a regular in fact on my way for a pick up so this is not just a random post. I hope they read Unilocal and take some notes. They need better marketing on and offline, namely a website and take away menus, the name is hard to pronounce and remember, I had to do several google searches for them. That said I would rate them as a consistent and go to spot when you want a satisfying meal.

Situated in a bright downtown storefront with hardwood floors and vibrantly painted walls, Alebrijes offers a full menu, including vegetarian and some fish options. Although we came at an off hour service was fast and friendly. We found the flavors generally on the mild side. The complimentary chips that arrived with some mild salsa were nice while warm, but were a bit soggy by the end of the meal. They do not serve liquor. The facilities are accessible.

New Kingston Uptown Mexican restaurant. No liquor license yet. BYOB. Oaxacan cuisine. Very delicate, exquisitely seasoned. Fresh ingedients handled with love and respect. No heavy handed refried glop. A world away from Tex/Mex. Staff knowledgeable . Friendly. Attentive. I wish them success and long life.

Very good food with decent prices. The only thing that was weird was the absent of music during dinner until we were about to leave. Overall, I will be going back.

I’ve had a hard time finding Mexican food in the area that I feel like compares to the restaurants I miss from the West Coast. I’m so glad I found this place. Even my husband who is super picky loved it.

Excellent from start to finish! The empanada appetizer was delicious. The entrees were all really tasty. Well prepared and very interesting. And the desserts were exquisite. The churros were fresh and delightful. The mango mousse cake was amazing. And throughout, the service was fantastic. Friendly and attentive. This is definitely going on my list of go-to restaurants.

This restaurant was a HUGE let down. My fiancé and I brought friends from out of town to dinner here on a Friday night. We should have known it would be terrible since it was completely empty, no one was behind the counter, and we waited 10 minutes to be seated in an EMPTY restaurant. Dinner took 2 hours! Each of our meals was brought to our table at 5 minute intervals, so by the time the last of us received our dinner, one of us was almost finished. The prices were outrageous given the quality of the food. All except the fajita were completely lacking in flavor. 2 of us could not eat more than a few bites. As we left, our waiter chased us out onto the street, having heard us whispering on our way out. We were polite but honest about the poor service and quality of the food, stating that we were very excited to try their restaurant, but were unfortunately let down. The waiter responded, «Well next time go eat around the corner.» Very bad food, bad service, and incredibly rude. We were very embarrassed that our friends left Kingston with a bad taste in their mouths, pun intended.

Had a lovely dinner on Sunday night. Due to the bad weather we were the only people dining at the time. We received great service from our friendly and attentive waiter. In addition to the chips and salsa brought to our table, we had chicken nachos as an appetizer and they were insanely good! Definitely try them! Some of the best I’ve had in the area. I had the three taco dish(comes with rice and beans) and it was also quite delicious. The portions were on the large size. The other people I was dining with had various types of burritos and had positive things to say. Happy to have a new dining choice in the neighborhood. Thank you!

I’m so glad this spot is filled with such great food. It is nice to have a different region of Mexico represented in Kingston. Everything seemed fresh and made with care. Until they get their Liquor license, don’t forget you can BYOB– Excited to go back. It would be amazing for their business if they could put a bar in that space. Perfect location.

I had decided to give 3.5 stars, but rounded up because… I can be nice sometimes! The service and décor/atmosphere do need a little help. There were beautiful fresh flowers on all the tables that had such a perfume… it bummed me out! Chips and salsa when you sit, the chips came to us still warm! The salsa was not like any I’ve had before — it almost looked like it was tomato sauce based with onions, jalapeño and the like added. It wasn’t bad, just different. ANDMEXICANCOKE! My husband and I ordered the taquitos(chorizo and potato) — 3 to a plate for about $ 6 or $ 7…they were MOLTEN hot, but so delicious. The right amount of filling to wrapper ratio, and the dipping sauce was great! We got a chicken tamale, it was bigger than a deck of cards, tender and stuffed with chicken breast and peppers… the tomatillo sauce had more heat than I anticipated but it wasn’t too hot, the whole thing was delicious, and $ 5! My husband ordered the Mayan burrito, it was HUGE and fantastic. After seeing the size and prices, we pondered how they could be making money. I ordered the carnitas chimichanga, again HUGE. Both of our entrees came with garden rice(mehhhhh, it didn’t do it for me. Peas and carrots mixed into white rice, presumably with spices… I found it a little salty) and beans. The beans were ok, not the best I’ve ever had but certainly not the worst! Also, I have an obsession with beans so I’m not a fair judge. My chimichanga was(again) spicier than I anticipated, but that’s not a bad thing! It had avocado and salsa in it, with(I imagine) the same tomatillo sauce… at this point I was so stuffed I could barely eat. BUTDID I MENTIONTHEMEXICANCOKE?! I’m stoked we stumbled upon this place. They’ve only been open since December, I’m hoping they can stay open because I’m already dying to go back! There were so many things I want to try!

Great new authentic Mexican place uptown. We had the guacamole, made table side and delicious. Tacos were great. Simple, fresh. Mix and match. They’re clearly brand new to the neighborhood and have some kinks to work out but give them a shot to help them stay open long enough to do so. To the owners: better salsa, and rice and beans would’ve made the experience 5 stars. Hopefully the liquor license comes soon. Would’ve loved a margarita.

My hubby and I enjoyed a filling meal at a very reasonable price. Started off with chips and guacamole that was hand made at the table by Veronica the owner. It was really good! My husband had the chicken mole burrito which was not only big but also very good. I had the chicken chimichanga and it was wonderful! Talking to Veronica was an added bonus and we hope she is successful. Give them a try you won’t regret it.

Just checked this new place out with my folks while on a visit home for the holidays. Food was really good, and everyone in the party really enjoyed it. The focus seems to be on Oaxacan regional specialties, and there’s a wide-ranging selection of dishes(especially if you eat meat, which I generally don’t). The guacamole was made fresh at the table-side. I had chiles rellenos, made with a creamy sauce and stuffed with queso fresco, rather than the standard salsa roja and melted chihuahua. Only thing preventing a 5-star rating was that the service was a bit lackluster — they seem to be still working the kinks out there. Do give it a shot — I’d like this place to still be around next time I’m in town.
