Isaac and his wife are two very lovely people. They are committed to delivering the best in ambience, food, presentation and engaging the customer. Tonight I was treated to a spectacular Keylime pie served neatly layered in a jar. A taste of things to come I’ve been told(along with hopefully some coffee) which would be a perfect way to end a stellar round of full flavored tacos and crisp beer on tap. Love this place and will definitely be back due not only to the food but the professionalism and friendliness of the staff! A real gem

Excellent, authentic-style tacos. Everything is well prepared and fresh and has a great amount of flavor. The creations are unique and interesting, but taste great. I’m an adventurous eater overall, and I have not been disappointed by any of the combinations. My favorite is the BBQ chicken taco, which is well marinated and has a ton of flavor. Even the beet taco, which wouldn’t be one I would normally choose, is great due to the long marinade time they put it through. The service has always been great as well, so I’m surprised with the complaints from other customers here — I simply haven’t seen that happen and have been there a few times with different servers every time. For those interested in hot sauce, do give theirs a try — it’s source locally and has great, full flavor, not just boring«heat». EDIT: The prices are also very reasonable. Clearly there is a lot of effort put into the food, and it shows, yet the prices are great considering the work that goes into the tacos. Love the food!

First I have to say that the server(male) was very helpful as I had never been here before. He suggested the beet tacos, which was great, but even better was the special, a spicy battered cauliflower taco. It was amazing! I also really loved the street corn. I had a nice chat with the owner while I was waiting for my takeout. I will be back!

We were just in town visiting and craving good Mexican– Diego’s knocked it out of the park! So fresh, so flavorful. We tried five tacos: the Po Boy, Barbacoa, Beet, Al Pastor, and Three Sisters. We both voted Po Boy(great smoky spice) and Beet as our favorites! Kids loved the quesadilla and great beer options as well. We’ve lived all over the US and these are the best tacos we’ve found, topping our former favorites in Austin TX. Thanks so much for the excellent meal!

Yum! YUM! YUMMY! We actually talked to the owner after eating the food. We live in Brooklyn and told him this restaurant would totally kill it anywhere in NYC or the 5 Boroughs. I hope this lasts, because I can’t wait to go back next time we’re in the area. Great recipes! Clever menus. Adorable and classic/rustic décor.

We first ate at Diegos about six months ago. The waitress was rude from the get go. She was a younger girl so we have her the benefit of the doubt. She insisted on taking our order without writing it down. When she repeated it incorrectly I had to repeat it to her(no big deal). When she brought our food out, the taco I had to correct her about was wrong. She asked with an attitude if I wanted it fixed I said, «no thanks». And ate. The food was just ok. Some«hipster Tex mex» food. We also had one beer each. When the check came in at about $ 60 I just assumed she charged me for the taco she made a mistake on. We went to pay and the owner came to the counter to ask how everything was. I told him it was mediocre, the waitress was rude, and we wouldn’t be back. At that point the waitress told us «we don’t want you back». I slid $.25 across the counter for her tip and the owner told us both not to be jerks. My fiancé and I left in silence. When we were less then a block away the owner came out and offered us our money back, which I declined. He then told us he wanted to make it up to us because we are locals. He offered to pick up our next tab. Very nice of him. We went back about two months later after seeing the owner around town many times and each time hearing him offer to buy us a meal. I didn’t want to impose so I got the house salad and a beer. My fiancé got two soggy tacos. The owner didn’t even pay for my beer. I will never eat at this«restaurant» again.

Kingston’s Stockade neighborhood has become a vibrant, diverse, and cultured hub within the historic city. And though the weather is getting colder, it was still nice to have a walk around the half-dozen blocks that comprise this district in late November. We settled on having dinner at Diego’s Taqueria, our second visit this year. The restaurant itself is cozy, with seating at traditional tables, seats along the window, and space at the bar. The service offered by the waitstaff was really fantastic, as they were attentive and responsive, without being intrusive. This would be a good place to visit with a few friends, but would probably call ahead if you have a party larger than, say, six people. The focus of Diego’s cuisine is on the tacos, offering eight varieties on the menu and three specials on the night that we visited. The tacos represent a solid blend of traditional and modern twists on Mexican street food. I had three tacos — a roasted pork with pineapple(Al Pastor), a beer battered cod with traditional slaw(Pescado), and cauliflower with sriracha(a special for the night). I was very happy with each of these, but the cauliflower was my favorite. We went for a side order of black beans, which was more than enough for two people to share. The beans were delicious, topped with cilantro, onion, and cotija cheese. Diego’s also boasts an impressive beer list, with about a dozen craft brews that were both bottled and on draft. I found the price point to be just a bit high, but this was expected dining in the lower Hudson Valley. During dinner, I remarked how dangerous it would be if I lived nearby, because I’d run the serious risk of making every night a taco night. Overall, I was very satisfied with my experience at Diego’s and will return when I’m in the area.

This place is a hidden gem in Kingston, and I’m pleased to report, is freaking amazing. Not authentic Mexican food as the owner and his wife are both gringos but they strive to churn out creative and delicious takes on traditional Mexican food. I lived in Mexico for 10+ years folks, so I know my Mexican food. This is unique and very tasty indeed. Good service. We met the owner, Isaac, and talked with him for a solid 15 – 20 minutes and he gave some recommendations. I live in Albany but go to Kingston periodically and I used to dread it. Now that I’ve had diego’s I can’t wait till I can get back. I tried to go there on my way home from NYC but was disappointed to learn they are closed on Sunday and Monday but hey, you gotta get a couple days off some time so I won’t hold it against them. Great tacos, interesting décor, cool place. Eat up!

Where to begin? Smoky beet tacos? Okay! Yes they have them, and many many other wonders. Definitely get the homemade guac and chips, and a glass of Pinot noir. Enjoy the perfect lighting and great conversation in this really nicely decorated one-room spot, with a bar! LOVEYOUDIEGO’S

Great neighborhood place in Uptown Kingston. We just had a few tacos for lunch. they were authentic Mexican(not Tex-Mex or Cali-Mex) tacos. The chicken in the pollo verde tacos was a little dry, not terrible, but not great. Other than that every thing was pretty good. The house made chips and salsa were outstanding. Food came up fast, and the service was good. The prices were pretty reasonable, and overall it was a good experience.

Had a very mediocre experience here. Waiter was not friendly, no smile etc. ordered salad with fish. Fish was unseasoned and salad had no dressing on it– just lettuce etc. When I asked him if they had salad dressing he said they«will have to look for some». Well he brought me a tiny cup of what I think was dressing out of a jar. Asked for hot sauce for the fish to give it some kind of seasoning — that never came. Disappointing experience as I always loved this place before.

Freakin beet taco, fried green tomato po’ boy taco, and beer battered cauliflower taco??? So delicious! These are some unique tacos and well worth the $ 4. The beet taco had a nice smoked flavor to it. Really well made, not sloppy or greasy looking. This place is very hipster-ish. At night there are bands that play music.

3 words describes this place: fresh, flavorful and unique. Great beer selection and the menu offers authentic cuisine worthy of a visit. Very resonable prices. The Owner is always on site and the quality and consistency shows. A great addition to the Stockade. Highly recommended.
