Good ice cream. I’ve been going here for years. However on a recent trip my neice ordered a sundae. The server handed us an enormous bowl full of ice cream. My husband wanted a sundae but not one that huge. He asked the other server if that was the size of the sundae. That server told us there were multiple sizes. Essentially we were over charged for a colossal sundae when it was not what we wanted. I feel that they took advantage of us not being specific. With many other ice cream places to visit the staff should treat their customers to better service that includes honesty and integrity.

I think someone live behind the ice cream shop. This is a wonderful place to get some ice cream, slushes, and some food. If your in town I would recommend this place over a friendly’s. The seating is all outdoors. The specialty sundaes are awesome. This is a great mom and pop shop and is a perfect find for any local establishment. When I come visit upstate, I will also come visit Mickey’s Igloo.

The ice cream(especially on a hot summer day) was more awesome than I expected but sadly the service a little slow. There was only one young lady working and the people in line behind us were getting a little antsy because she has to make and service all four orders herself before she could go on to the next customer… I got the orange and cream soft serve on a cone and portion was bigger than I expected but it certainly didn’t stop me from devouring every bite. Delicious and worth every penny spent. If I lived closer — I would make this place a regular stop on a hot summer day! :)

A couple of coworkers told me to visit Mickey’s based on the strength of two of their items: the hot wiener with meat sauce and the soft serve ice cream. The hot dog was extremely disappointing. I know, I know, it’s a freaking roadside ice cream stand for godsakes, who gives a shit about their hot dog? Well, apparently, a bunch of people from the Kingston area, so the dogs are fair game. Mickey’s gives you an unexciting, boiled dog with a thin layer of unappealing, almost jelly like meat sauce. Not to mention the sauce has barely any meat and little kick. Oh well, Dallas’ is just down the street. While the hot dog failed, the soft serve ice cream sure as hell wins. The recipe, passed down over the past few decades, creates an awesome blend creamy, tasty vanilla and chocolate. Ever get soft serve that tends to resist melting despite 90 degree temperatures? Might be because of a certain amount of gum like substances added to the mixture(or, a lack of air in the mix). Big ups to Mickey’s for eschewing more modern ice cream manufacturing methods and kickin it old school. I enjoyed the shit out of my cone after a lackluster dog.

I have been loving MIckey’s Igloo since I was a little kid. Now that I’m back living in the area I love heading over there after a day of hot-n-sweaty yardwork and gardening. It’s the kind of place that makes living upstate special. My fav is the walnut sundae, with chocolate soft serve. Mmmmm…

On any given summer night the lines at Mickey’s are out to the street, full of families and friends from all over the Hudson Valley, waiting for soft serve perfection in a cone. This mom and pop operation does their best to please everyone at once however, and manages to keep waiting children entertained with televisions playing cartoons above each window. Once you get to the front of the line servers are friendly, fast, and always knowledgable about the products and specials. Try the hard dip ice cream for something new — my favorite combination is the green mint chip with hot fudge, peanut butter, and whipped cream.
