One of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had. I absolutely loved this place! The«antique breakfast» was fantastic! Perfectly cooked eggs, deliciously seasoned potatoes, avocado, and a little mixed green salad. I got the gluten free bread and it was incredible, especially to dip in the egg. I finished every bite. It tasted so good and you could tell it was fresh. I also got an Americano with coconut milk and it was delicious, it didn’t even need sugar. I can’t wait to come back and get the waffles! They looked really yummy! Service was great– everyone was friendly and helpful. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The antiques were also really fun to look at!

Stopped here while traveling and loved the oasis of hip vintage stuff, friendly service and delicious vegetarian friendly food. I had several lattes and my friend had chai latte. Lots of dairy-free options for lactose intolerant folks. Drinks come in mason jars and the huevos rancheros made a lovely breakfast. Perfect portion, interesting flavored, cool vintage knick knacks on sale around the room. Highly recommend.

Hip cuisine in relaxed antique environs. Unique, delicious breakfasts and lunches to please every taste, from traditional fare to vegan delights. I love their housemade granola, the vegan reuben and their vegan breakfast sandwich. Chai lovers delight: their latte is spicier than syrupy sweet. Try it with one their housemade milks, almond or hazelnut. Outdated is a great place to meet up with friends or compose a few sentences over a nosh.

Clique-y. Owners seem aloof at best and at worst have been outright hostile to some customers. While this is a great concept, great atmosphere and pretty good food and coffee, the vibe from the owners and some of the employees is thoroughly off-putting. Yech! Not worth it! Better to let the self-important hipsters hang out with each other there!

Several tries later, I still can’t learn to love this place. The atmosphere is cozy and full of charm, but I have yet to receive a smile from any employee. I’m an outwardly friendly and polite person, but am regularly met with a blank stare and silence. I wouldn’t attribute this to the«hipster» vibe as much as the general disdain for customers the young staff seems to hold. I’d use this as my regular work-hangout if I didn’t feel so ill at ease. The coffee is good and I’ve heard great things about the food. Try it out, but don’t expect to feel good about yourself after.

I like the vibe. It’s very cozy and cute inside, with tons of little tchotchkes to look and and lots of different seating arrangements. The food is very good. I’ve gotten a few different breakfast items here and they never disappoint – egg sandwiches, bagels, baked goods, etc. All great. The coffee, unfortunately, is not so great, in my opinion. I like a bold, rich coffee and every time I’ve been here(many times) the coffee has been weak, watery, and flavorless. The espresso is better. Also, the service is hit-or-miss. They can be a bit snobbish.

Great restaurant theme, atmosphere, and service. The food is very good, and the coffee is above average. Great spot to stop in for a breakfast with family or friends, or as a place to get away and do some work.

Everything is pretty good here. Especially all the baked treats. Food is also pretty innovative for the area. Definitely perfect to slurp & listen to some tunes.

I’m not in Kingston very often… just went to visit my Uncle and he suggested we meet here. I was not disappointed! This area is definitely great for fresh and healthy food options. The antiques there for sale are great and the décor is just spot on. It has a «modern» country antique feel… if that even makes sense. Just go check it out for yourself! Highly recommend the Taco Time dish(the spicy catches up to you, but is good!) and the Tempeh Reuben.

Great coffee. Haven’t eaten my egg sandwich on Bread Alone challah yet but I know it’ll be delicious. I always want to buy stuff I don’t need when I’m here.

There has been a merging of the hipster and the hippy of late. A new breed which I affectionally call, the«Hippity-Hipster». This character is on full display at Outdated. Lots of beards, mismatched 2nd hand tattered clothing and folks who look like they need a good scrubbing. Staff included! Haha. But seriously, thats part of the charm of this joint and why I like coming back again and again. They always have great music playing and you could sit for hours on a cup of coffee and chow down on some of the best scones(the size of calzones) ive ever had as you bask in the glow of a thousand MAC laptops. The food by and large is very good as well. But consistency can be hit or miss at times. Kingston was,(and still is to a certain extent) a no mans land for cool little community cafes. So Outdated is a welcome addition in my opinion. There are a few downsides however. The place is poorly ventilated and has an open kitchen. So in the Summertime it becomes unbearably hot inside. Not to mention your clothes will reak of cooking oil and food for hours once you leave. It really could be a lot cleaner and the dishes and mugs they use could be in better condition. My Coffee mug was so chipped I thought I might cut my lip! And then there are the flies. Oh dear, the flies! What can I say except that they are flying around in great numbers all year round. Even in the dead of winter. The staff are very nice, but the turnover is so high that faces change from week to week. But if I had one thing that I could really criticize it would be the wait time in line. They dont have a proper cash register but a single tablet they use for payment. So when it gets busy in there you could wait a long time to just place your order and pay. Ideally they should have two registers/tablets just to expedite things faster. Also, they are a dog friendly café. So if you are allergic to dogs or simply not a fan of dogs for whatever reason, be aware that Fido and his pals might just be there when you go. But like I said, all things considered I really like this place and reccomend it. So put on your best blasé facial expression, grow that body hair out, throw on your oldest and most beat up clothing, and head on down to Outdated where you can let your inner social justice warrior freak flag fly!

I take day trips upstate from the city with friends and family and this place is always our preferred lunch stop. Friendly service, vegetarian menu, delicious sandwiches/salads, killer coffee, and a funky laid back atmosphere that invites you to sit back and relax. I love that you can bring your dog inside. It can get crowded on the weekends but you can usually find a spot at one of the larger/communal tables. While the décor is for sale, the prices are prohibitive. Luckily the food prices are much more reasonable.

When Outdated popped up in a search, it immediately got my attention. I really like eclectic places. It’s also in my favorite section of Kingston. And the fact that it got a stellar review from a very prominent Unilocaler did not go unnoticed by me either. So after 3 futile attempts to find a spot in the municipal lots, I finally coughed up a few coins for a meter and walked over. It was worth it. What a cool place! It’s old meets new meets old all over again. Rustic floorboards meet WiFi, with comfort food smells emanating from the back. Even though it was lunchtime, and the sandwiches looked thick and decadent, I opted for today’s breakfast special. That was homemade french toast with lime curd(a combo I had never tried before). Normally I would also have coffee, but if you’re going to throw word combinations at me like«vanilla roiboos chai latte,» that’s going to get my attention too. As I settled in at a smaller table and did some brief people watching — and more important — DOG watching(dogs are welcome, yay!), my beverage arrived in about 2 minutes, and my entrée about 2 minutes later. The french toast, besides being delicious and spread with the lime curd, was accompanied by lots of fresh blueberries and raspberries and a large portion of whipped cream. Yum! WiFi appeared to be slightly slow here; my phone said«good for texting,» but I had no problems of any sort, nor did anyone else on a device. That’s fine if you’re by yourself. If you’re here with friends, put the devices away from time to time and converse. This space was made for it. It’s a great place to come for a meal, or an afternoon.

Excellent service, great eclectic menu options set in a rambling antique exhibition. Servers are super responsive and everyone works to keep the wait down. She had oat Waffles with maple syrup and a side of cinnamon apple confit. We both had fresh coffee. I tried the raspberry scone which was excellent, crispy outside and edges and great inside texture with sweet and tart raspberries. Have never been disappointed coming here.

Exquisitely different and awesome. The eggs over greens with roasted potatoes was delicious! Must try the fresh baked cookies, scones & loaves. Chocolate pistachio cookie & blackberry thyme loaf with lemon icing was too good to pass up. The nostalgia of an antique store with good wholesome cooking & baking makes your heart sing. The downside was counter ordering but the staff’s friendly and helpful demeanor made it okay. I will definitely return for a breakfast or lunch when in the area.

They let dogs in here, which is awesome. Lots of cute puppies and tons of things to look at while you’re waiting for your food. It did get pretty busy around 11 on a Sunday morning, I would recommend going earlier if you’re able to. Free wifi. There are lots of hipsters here. The food was good, lots of vegetarian and vegan options. Some things could be a little cleaner(hot sauce container) and my friend and I thought our coffee and tea were both too strong. I would go back though and try some of the other menu items, maybe get a kombucha instead of a coffee.

Ok, this is a tough one. I found this cute little place on Unilocal and my first impression was that this place was an instant five star perhaps and an epic little find. You order at the cash register and then sit down which is cool, but not really that cool for a proper sit down restaurant. After I placed my order is when my wishes for a killer new find were shot. The food showed up and was way way sub par. I had the huevos rancheros plate and it was weak beyond belief, as well as cold. The home fries were burnt beyond recognition, greasy and tasted like the oil they used to cook them with was old and way over used. But the two things that shattered me, and this review, were cleanliness. I opened up my silverware that was wrapped in a napkin and it was f***ing disgusting. Food literally still smeared on them. And as I ate breakfast and looked around a bit more I noticed the cracks in the«Antique table», FILLED with food scraps and waste(pictured in this review) The ONLY thing that gets this place a one star and not a minus zero, is the scones as well as the pretty cool vibe. This restaurant just needs a serious manager or owner to tune up the food and CLEAN the place and it would be great. Sorry guys. I hope you pull it together. Could be a great little spot.

Outdated is an absolutely fantastic concept — part antique store, part vegetarian/vegan restaurant, part bakery! From the moment I walked into Outdated, I knew it was a special place. The music of Alison Krauss, Old Crow Medicine Show and other bluegrass artists was playing. Antique furniture and other old timey items were displayed for sale, giving me the feeling I was in an old country store. I made my way back to the counter and I ordered a vegetarian Reuben(maple tempeh, local sauerkraut, melted cheese and veganaise on freshly baked bread), which came with a light, mixed greens salad. As I sat waiting for my sandwich, I got into my laptop and discovered Outdated has free WiFi(bonus!). The Reuben came out quickly and was fantastic! I’d order it over a real meat Reuben any day — and I’m not even a vegetarian! After finishing lunch, I decided to order a cup of coffee and a pistachio chocolate chip cookie. So tasty! I had my dessert as I wandered throughout the store looking at the antiques. My favorite find was the selection of mugshots and descriptions of convicts from NY prisons in the late 19th and early 20th century. Glad I didn’t find any of my ancestors!

The scones. THESCONES. This place is so hippity hipster, the retro Pandora station only played an ambient of early 2000 electropop and deep-rooted 90s Canadian alternative. This shit won’t get replayed in the mainstream until at least 2026. Oh, and the sriracha isn’t event Huy Fong… it’s Roland. ROLAND! Every item on the menu is sourced locally, and prepared simply, but with bold flavors. Mint tangerine sodas, ginger peach scones, brioche French toast, tofu and smoked tempeh brekkie ‘wiches, clove milkshakes to stave off your fierce Kingston hangover, whatever. But let’s focus on your first bite, which should — undoubtedly — be the Scone Sandwich, a gigantic jalapeño jack scone, split, griddled and stuffed with two farm fresh eggs and smoked gouda. Took a bite, drowned in rich yolks, got resurrected during a séance conducted by Otho and his cohort of eccentric, artsy folks, and went back to polish off the rest of the beast. Not sure if it’s the abundance of Jack cheese that oozes and toasts to a tacky crisp, or the fruity heat from the chunks of hot peppers, or those dreamily fresh eggs, but the combination is now in my top five breakfast sandwiches. Of all time. Paper straws in their bevs, antiques and second-hand accoutrements also for sale. It’s a breakfast and community talkabout joint first, notice everything else on your second visit.
