Courtyard Seattle Kirkland

First off, we were super excited our first morning waking up to go soak in the «whirlpool». Much to our surprise, when we made the trek down the infinitely long hallway to the glorious «whirlpool» we found a hole in the ground, filled with cement. It would have been nice, if the people at the front desk had told us of this at check in, we would not have gone and bought new bathing suits. We asked for an extra blanket, and boy was it cozy, however in the morning light we found a large pee stain. The pullout bed, for our two kids was a little too small. Would be great for one person, just not two. Overall, the staff were nice and the actual courtyard was appealing, but we’ll be staying elsewhere next time we come up north.

I checked in under a corporate account and everything was paid for. The clerk asked for my debit card and told me she just needed to have it on file, but she guaranteed I wouldn’t be charged. The next day, I was charged $ 100. Upon going down to the desk, I was told they charge $ 20 per day for incidentals and I can possibly get my money back after I leave. I did not use any beverages in the room or order room service. Marriott did not have authorization to take this money from my account, lied about what they were doing, and were unapologetic after I asked them about it. I’m never staying at a Marriott again.

Where do I start? At first glance this hotel is nice enough. We were in Kirkland visiting family so we didn’t need anything too nice, just something to go home to during the night. Let’s start with the positive since it’s going to be much shorter list. The staff is friendly but not helpful. They will smile, and greet you but when it comes to service they are lacking serious customer service skills.
Let’s talk what went wrong here; First night in we noticed there weren’t any comforter in the room. YES, NO COMFORTER… This is December in Seattle, where at night it goes down to 28 – 30 degrees. There is a sheet, and a thin blanket. So we thought maybe we can turn on the heater, and put it up to 75 or so. But guess what, the heater was also broken, somewhere in middle of the night the heater turned in to AC. So the room was freezing for the remainder of the night. We called front desk and no one answered.
In the morning we told the front desk we either needed much thicker blanket, or maybe we can be moved to another room. The lady in the front desk chuckled and told us they will look into the heater, and send us some more blankets.
NIGHT 2
No blanket, and the heater was NOT fixed. On top all this the cleaning service was nightmare. The room was dusty, and towels were not clean. We complained and none of our requests were met. I don’t recommend this place to anyone. Hope this is helpful.

Nice hotel. Clean, modern, and very comfy beds. It’s in a good location with friendly staff and the breakfast is very good especially if your into healthy breakfast options.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. All of the front desk staff were very nice and helpful when I had a question. I didn’t encounter any problems that required extra assistance. The downside of staying here is the distance from downtown Seattle (about 20 miles I think and traffic is VERY bad in the mornings), but the upside is free parking and WiFi. It was a nice area with a Starbucks about 390 ft away (hate coffee, but luv my soy hot chocolate).
I would definitely stay here again.

Clean, modern, spacious. It’s about 18 min from the University of Washington Seattle campus and 23 mi from downtown Seattle. Lots of places to eat around the hotel. Would stay again.

If you are a Marriott Elite the only way you will be able to enjoy a stay at this Courtyard is if you can manage to pretend that you are not Marriott Elite. If you have no expectations, then MAYBE, the stay will be fine?
I was not able to get in to that mindset, so my experience was very poor.
At check-​in, we informed the clerk that we were Gold Elite, and that we were celebrating our 10^th wedding anniversary. My impression was that no effort was made to upgrade our room. In fact… I felt like quite the opposite occurred.
We went to our room on the 3^rd floor, and the first thing I noticed was complimentary ear-​plugs prominently displayed. That’s never a good sign!
We were in a room facing the street, and the noise from traffic was deafening!
For the first time, EVER (in many travels); I asked for a room change.
There was nothing else available on the top floor. So, we were given a room on the second floor adjacent to the stair well. Seriously?! Do they intentionally give Marriott Elite members the crummiest rooms in the hotel?
Our room was also smack-​dab in the middle of a group of families (with small children) that had rented several rooms. It was awful. We could hear the people above us. We could hear the incessant parade of people using the stairwell to get to the parking lot. We could hear the noisy family staying in the rooms next to us.
Definitely not the romantic experience I was hoping for.
On top of that… Our room was cleaned ONCE, during our four-​day stay. And believe me, we were not spending an ample amount of time in the room. So, it should have been easy for housekeeping to clean.
The «food» at the bistro was inedible. A total waste of money.
This is the second time we have stayed at this particular Courtyard. I wasn’t impressed, the first time around. But it usually has a good nightly rate, and it’s one of the few Marriott properties in Seattle that has free parking. It is also conveniently located, and the rooms have been remodeled.
HOWEVER, it was made very clear to me, that being Marriott Elite means nothing to the employees. If you aren’t going to show me appreciation for being loyal, why should I remain loyal?
Never again.

Hotel was really nice, room was updated and decent, the bed was really comfortable and big. Most of the staff were very nice and well mannered. However the reason I’m writing this review is due to the fact that the man working at the Bistro/​bar area on march 23^rd was extremely arrogant and rude. My family and I were nothing but gracious, kind and thankful, and I’m not sure if he was having a bad night or what his deal was but absolute S#*@ for customer service. We asked for 2 things our entire stay, but the «I’m better than you/​I hate my job» had a lasting affect. To keep it short, and save the full detail for the Marriott’s website, DO NOT tip this guy, (slightly stocky, sassy, middle aged, average height, light brown/​dirty blonde hair (he didn’t wear a name tag)) He was so off putting and rude.

Great place to stay when you are in Seattle. Nice lobby, spacious clean room. The hotel lobby is clean, with lots of seating and my room exceeded my expectations. The bed is comfy, everything you expect from a Marriott bed. My room had a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker so I was a happy girl.
The staff is friendly and always greet you when you walk by. Would love to stay here again.
I will say being Gold or Platinum at this hotel does not give you any extras as they do not have a concierge level, just the café and you have to pay for your own water… I am so spoiled. I would say the only thing I did not like was the food at the café. The breakfast sandwich I ordered was made the night before (the sales girl told me this and I still bought it) and it tasted old and the bacon was slimy. Took one bite and threw it away.

Nice Courtyard. Certainly met expectations of cleanliness, access, and on site food services.

This has become my home away from home. I come up here and stay for business about once a month for a few days at a time. Staff is always friendly. Rooms are always clean. I will be coming back again.

I am writing this review as I can’t sleep.
Bought off Priceline for $ 84 including tax! Was very excited I got this price. Now even happier I didn’t spend more. The property appears newer an nice. EVENING front desk staff very nice.
We were locked out of our room approx an hour due to malfunction in the lock. The maintenance staff already left for the evening, it was only about 830 or 9. They told me it would be awhile as their maintenance person lived a long way from the hotel. Incredible to me there isn’t a 24 hr person, or on call person somewhat close to deal with issues such as this. (finally the front desk staff was able to get us in without the maintenance person coming). After waiting to get to our things in our room we were told we would have to switch rooms.
They moved us to a corner room with windows to the parking lot. Approx 630 a.m. my family (Spouse and 2 children) were awakened to the beautiful sounds of very loud tree trimmers and edgers, trucks, etc. I called the front desk and they said sorry, they will take care of it. 30 minutes later it’s still going on. I couldn’t sleep so I went down to the front desk and asked about it. The lady who refused to give me her name said «Not on our property» That is all… WHAT? really thats all I get? Not «Sorry sir it’s out of our control we really think it’s horrible that they woke you up and you can’t fall asleep… blah blah blah. While I understand it’s not their gardeners, at least act like you care. I said «thats all you’ve got» she said «You can’t expect us to do anything when it’s not on our property» I explained compassion to a very sleepy customer would be nice and she wouldn’t even look at me. When I asked for her name she just walked away into a back office.
As inconvenient it was to be locked out of my room with a wife and 2 kids, they said there was nothing they could do since we bought our room on Priceline. However, she did comp us a free breakfast. (This was the person I dealt with in the evening who was very nice) I wish i could remember her name. Her compassion made all the difference.

The STAFF is extraordinary! TONS OF POWER PLUGS! Good WiFi. Mara & Crystal at the front desk provide world class service. A haven for geeks with 5+ devices to charge. :p

I did not stay here, but I just wanted to point out that both managers I met there were genuinely helpful, honest people. I believe one was Eric, and I unfortunately forgot the other one’s name.
My tire unexpectedly blew out, and I drove into the nearest lot, which happened to be this motel. Within minutes, both managers came out and helped me even though I explained that I wasn’t staying there. One even changed my tire for me (admittedly I didn’t know how). This meant a lot because this was my first time to the Seattle area, and I was on my way to meet my manager on my first day of work during a technical internship at Microsoft. These are good people.

Fantastic place to stay. If you are in Seattle for business or for vacation definitely considering staying here. It’s about a 20 – 30 minute drive to downtown Seattle but the rates are incredibly reasonable and it has everything you could ask for in a top notch hotel.
The rooms are incredibly clean and the hotel maids are excellent at keeping it that way. I honestly wouldn’t mind just lounging around in the hotel room for a full day because the ambiance of the room just makes you want to nap.
My favorite part of the hotel is the first floor lobby where they serve breakfast and dinner along with Starbucks. They also have plenty of seating where there are outlets and TV monitors so you can work on your laptop or watch TV while enjoying breakfast.
In terms of the food, it’s overpriced (but that shouldn’t come as a surprise). For breakfast they have your classic breakfast plate (eggs, potatoes, toast and sausage/​bacon) but for $ 10 I expected something that tasted better. I was thoroughly disappointed when I received a tiny serving of scrambled eggs, 2 greasy hashbrowns and some greasy sausage patties. Therefore I recommend you buy breakfast elsewhere or stick to pastries and coffee.
They also have a fitness room which is almost always empty and there are only 2 treadmills, 1 elliptical, 1 stationary bicycle and a couple dumbbells. It’s not a state-​of-​the-​art gym but considering that no one works out on vacation or business trips it would have been silly for the hotel to invest money in a larger fitness room.
All in all I think this is a great affordable place to stay. It’s relaxing and has all the basic amenities you expect from a hotel. With the exception of their overpriced and mediocre-​tasting breakfast I’m pleased with this place.

Very kind staff. Great location near tons of food. Near freeways so it’s easy to get around and into the city if needed. The newly renovated rooms are super comfy and look great. The price was very reasonable.

Comfortable stay for a business trip. The room was clean, the free wi-​fi was decently fast. There’s an underground parking garage which was convenient for those rainy days. It was a bit annoying that there was no body lotion in the room and I had to call down to the front desk in order to get some. I guess that’s their policy on lotion — you gotta ask for it.
Most disappointing part of the stay was the gym. It was a tiny room with 2 treadmills, 1 elliptical, and 1 bike. There’s one bench and some dumbbells. Two of the most common weights — the 7.5 lb and 10 lb dumbbells — were missing. So you only had 5 lb or 15 lb dumbbells. This probably doesn’t really matter for dudes, but it’s pretty annoying for me.

My husband and I stayed here on a trip to Woodinville and I was very impressed. From the moment we got there, we were allowed an early check-​in, front desk clerk was very friendly and accommodating. There was a weird issue with my pre-​paid room reservation but she figured it out.
The room was very nice with a king bed, and living room area. The bathroom was very nice and modern. I slept very comfortably although I think they should provide better pillows… pillows were flimsy.
On the way out to Woodinville, the desk clerk stopped us with complimentary tasting coupons. Very thoughtful. One of them, for Januik, ended up being my favorite tasting room. Across the street from the hotel is a QFC where we walked and picked up snacks to eat. Very convenient.
For a Saturday night, our rate was just under $ 100 including tax. Can’t beat that!!!

Nice Courtyard. Appears to be recently updated. Rooms had the new courtyard look and feel.
There is a bar and free wifi which is a plus.
Not happy that breakfast was so pricey. At least the a la carte options are not too bad. For some crazy reason I thought that such an expensive hotel would have complimentary breakfast. I was surprised after I sat down! Maybe I was confused and thought this was a Hilton property :)
I would look for cheaper options as Kirkland is not downtown Seattle.

Some review practically write themselves because everything was just so right.
I spent 6 nights on a train, hurtling through disparate landscapes and sleeping in a faux bed. (Don’t get me wrong, either. I love the train. But the trip was stressful.) After the hassle of changing our travel plans by huge degrees, losing our luggage, and generally getting into travel disaster after travel disaster, I wanted a soft and quiet place to lay my head. I wanted a good bed, a large tv, and no hassles.
Priceline led me to this hotel, scored me an amazing room rate, and made me feel pretty good about electing to stay outside of Seattle. We didn’t plan on leaving the hotel much so we didn’t mind being so far away. (Should you desire to hop to the city, there is a bus just across the street that will gladly take you downtown several times an hour.)
The first problem we had was arriving a day late. Since we were calling from the train, cell phone coverage was minimal. When I was able to snatch a minute and get on the phone with this hotel, they were sensitive to my situation («HI! I’m on the train and about to lose cell coverage again. I’m sorry!»!) and hustled through the call. When we pulled in a day late, the room was ready and waiting with no problems. Whew.
The room was perfect. Huge bed. Plenty of space. Expansive windows. Clean bathrooms. Big TV. Soft pillows. Quiet hallways. After 6 nights on the train, this was just what I needed.
Because our luggage went on a long detour through California before our cruise, we spent most of our time panicking. The front desk staff all seemed aware of the situation (probably «panicked lesbians worried about luggage from train station… wtf, take a chill pill ladies!»), and I appreciated not having to continually explain that we were waiting on bags to be delivered. Technically, we only checked on our bags twice a day for three days… but it felt like we were fretting a lot. Still, we were never made to feel problematic for it.
On the last day, when our bags still hadn’t arrived, the morning manager offered us breakfast comps to drown our sorrows. It wasn’t her fault that Amtrak worried us sick, but she saw a way to make it better. Breakfast comps are such a small thing at a hotel this size, and they only cost the hotel a few bucks… but it was the thought. The server – who seemed to be in on our plight – recommended a few good thrift stores so we could get what we were missing before our cruise. (Cruising without a bathing suit is a sad way to go!) It made a major difference in our experience.
The laundry facilities were great, and we enjoyed having clean clothes before the cruise. I wouldn’t recommend leaving your laundry unattended, though.
For travelers with a car, staying here to get a better price than the Seattle hotels is a no-​brainer. This is a great options. For travelers without a car, consider your options well. Cabs into the city are pricey, but there are plenty of restaurants – including the best Japanese I’ve ever had – in easy walking distance.
Accessibility notes: Lobby has automatic doors. Elevators and hallways are wide. Food service area has tables clustered very close together. No braille menu or signage. Keycard systems on room doors may be difficult for guests with mobility issues. No bell attendant.
