Winfield’s lives up to it’s name — it’s a great Gathering Place. It is relaxing, peaceful and a fun place to lunch and enjoy Happy Hour. On this day of running around with the BFF, we needed to stop for lunch. With the BFF being a hard core low-carber we were looking for a place to accommodate her dietary needs. After looking at various restaurants on Unilocal,we decided to dine at Winfield’s and we are glad that we did. Our server totally understood what my friend wanted and the kitchen did not mind doing her chicken wings dry with no sauce at all. The wings were crispy, juicy and perfect for a low-carb diet. Their wings are served on a small sheet pan, a very unique and creative presentation. I too enjoyed some of their chicken wings, but I had the Spicy Asian. Again, they were crisp and juicy. The spicy Asian was a flavorful change from the typical Buffalo or Lemon Pepper wings that I normally order. Along side of my wings I had a house salad, that I did not expect to be as big as it was. I ordered both, thinking the salad would be small. If I had known how BIG it was, it would have been a sufficent meal. The service was sensational, we shared doggie pictures with Kyla and discovered she lived in our hood. Her warm personality, made us feel at home. In closing, all I can say is, Winfield’s is a true gathering place. I encourage you to come, relax and experience it for yourself. When: January 11, 2016 Why: Lunch with the BFF

I can’t believe that I have waited a whole year to come here! Boy, have I been missing out! This place is friendly, cozy and delicious! My dinner was great(cauliflower grilled cheese and fries) and the service was impeccable. I can’t wait to come back here to try out more delicious food, drinks and atmosphere! What a great addition to the Kirkwood family.

Lobster won tons arrived hot on outside and cold on inside. When we sent back, they came back so brown that we could barely bite through them. Service was awful. Couldn’t ever find our waitress and had to final ask others to help us get what we needed. Really wanted this place to be good but we were underwhelmed on our first visit. Burned ends were good though.

It was just ok. The food and service ok. The atmosphere was nothing great. If you just need a decent meal or cocktail and are in the area, then its not a bad selection. The prices were fair in my opinion. Ample parking and the restaurant itself is clean. I wish I could really say more, but this is place is about as ordinary as it gets. Nothing really stood out to me as special about it.

Came in with my husband for lunch. The restaurant has cool décor and ambiance. The hostess was friendly and wait staff very efficient and pleasant. I had the burnt ends sandwich on toasted sourdough bread. It had havarti cheese, sautéed onions and avocado. It was super delicious. Fries were seasoned well and I had a taste of my husbands pulled pork sandwich and it was good but liked mine better. We will be returning soon! The menu has many yummy options to choose from.

The shells and cheese were decent enough, but the burnt ends sandwich was very bland and the barbecue sauce they have tastes like Maul’s. The service is average, and I would’ve given three stars since everything about the place is pretty average, but the manager/owner/whoever the guy in charge was came up to our table and started rubbing my shoulder as he asked how our food was. That was a little bit awkward for me. I was there for lunch so I didn’t try any drinks, but the beer selection looks diverse enough to warrant another trip in the evening. Maybe if I try something different it’ll be better.

Great neighborhood place to have a drink, watch the game and have a good meal. Salmon is excellent. Swapped the rice for mashed potatoes. Very good.

I’ve been here several times and have tried something new each time in an attempt to find something I actually like enough to order again. The only reason I keep coming back is because my son likes the fact that Oberweis is in the same strip mall. The service is okay, not fantastic. Whenever I’ve been it’s not been excessively crowded so I’d expect slightly better service. Tonight I just wanted a plain grilled chicken sandwich, something not on the menu but an easy deviation of something that had. The waitress was completely puzzled. I told her like the chicken club but just the chicken. She wasn’t sure they could do it or how she’d ring it up. She tried to upsell me on a much higher priced grilled chicken entrée which I did not want. Eventually she left to place our order. It came out quite awhile later(along with a plain cheeseburger for my son). The chicken was so dry I literally couldn’t eat it. I couldn’t get anyone’s attention to point it out so I ate the green beans on the side and not the chicken. When the waitress eventually came back I told her that it was so dry that I couldn’t eat it. She said sorry(clearly not really caring) and asked if I wanted a box to take it home. I said I just wanted the check. I’ve had the burger, the pulled pork and the ribs before, none of which were spectacular enough to stand out. Take your chances. It’s not awful food, just not my choice for an evening out.

I really liked the food here, we ordered chips with buffalo chicken cheese sauce which was extremely delicious. I then ordered some buffalo wings, which tasted a bit BBQ-ish, which I thought was interesting. The salmon I got was great as well. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good meal.

Great place to have a drink and watch the game. Nice place with lots of big screens… but that’s about it. Food was not good… we had the pulled pork nachos(tortilla chips covered with BBQ sauce, some pork thrown on top) and the buffalo flatbread pizza(if totinos made such a pizza, it would have been similar). Single sitter bathroom which is not ideal for a bar. Probably won’t be back… there are better choices in the area.

I am only giving this place 3 stars because our server was great. Despite the other ratings, we thought we would see for ourselves. We visited on a Saturday afternoon at about 4 pm. A handful of customers in a fairly large restaurant. We split a platter with brisket and they accommodated our request to swap in burnt ends. Very nice of them. The two sides were steamed broccoli/cauliflower and baked beans. The brisket was okay and the burnt ends were very dry. I was disappointed in the steamed veggies, as they were oily. The baked beans were decent, but extremely sweet for my palette. Overall, I was disappointed in the food flavors and presentation. The server was fabulous and sold us on the food choices. Sadly, we were disappointed. We will not return.

First visit. It is in my neighborhood. I waited until the excitement died down to dine here. It’s okay. Nothing fantastic that is for sure. For a Saturday night, it wasn’t that busy which surprised me. The restaurant itself is nice. The booths are too small and it was very warm inside. Our waitress was nice but inefficient. We ordered beers and when she brought them to the table, did not know the difference between a Bud Light and a wheat beer. The beer had also been sitting at the bar for a while because it was warm. Food: it was just okay. My medium burger was rare, the cauliflower was fine but the one piece of broccoli I got was undercooked. I’m not sure if I’ll give it another try. There are so many other good places to eat and I just hate wasting money and so-so food.

Great food, drinks and atmosphere! Good place to watch the game! The lobster wonton are the best! The blackened shrimp is my favorite and a must try!

I had lunch May 22 with my great friend. Service was good. Difficulty was the women’s restroom is a one-holer. So, one at a time. And it builds up. ‘Cause it does seem to be a place for women during lunch. Hence, waiting line. My great friend got the Classic 8-ounce burger with fries($ 10.50). When it came out, it looked like a double-burger. But not so. It was just huge. He had a lot of accoutrements that he ditched(red onions, tomato slices and American cheese). . including pickles — and I wanted to steal those pickles from his discard plate, except that would have been inappropriate, and they were covered with Thousand Island dressing. I got the Guacamole Chicken Salad Sandwich($ 10)(ditched the brioche bun) and selected for my side the steamed broccoli and cauliflower served with chipotle beer cheese sauce(on the side). It was a huge amount of chicken, well-seasoned, but HUGE. Lettuce all around, tomatoes on the bottom. The guac was good. But the chicken wasn’t dressed. It was just a huge pile of chicken. That’s not kinda what I was expecting. When you think chicken salad, don’t you expect celery, mayonnaise, something that pulls it all together that makes it called chicken salad? That’s not what I got. The broccoli and cauliflower were well-steamed, and the chipotle beer cheese sauce was very flavorful, but not too spicy. I took a bunch of the salad and the side home, including the chipotle beer cheese sauce(for which I got a little separate container). We saw a lot of plates that were totally brimming with food. Who could eat that much in one sitting? Maybe their focus is volume. I got two more meals.

Nice looking place. Sat in the bar, and the music was all Beatles during this visit, which I loved. Server was friendly but didn’t write down order. Recited it back to us, missed an item, so we reminded her. When food came out, that item was still missing. After asking for it, received it about halfway through the meal. Started with a broccoli and beer cheese soup. It had corn in it. I’ve never seen a broccoli beer cheese soup with corn. Noticing they also had a corn bisque soup, I wondered if the soups had gotten mixed together in the back. Asked the server if it’s supposed to have corn. She wasn’t sure and would check; she never did. Serving sizes were large, and after the cup of soup, I couldn’t finish even half of my BBQ platter with two sides. But I will say all food was good — au gratin potatoes, HUGE serving of very tasty mac and cheese, BBQ brisket, BBQ pulled pork, the ribs I tried… all very good… except maybe the weird broccoli cheese soup with corn. I’d like to try this place again and see if it’s better.

After having a baby, I had a lot of people bring me food or ordered take out. With out of town family visiting, we had exhausted our Italian/Pizza appetites and wanted something along the American route since we didn’t feel like cooking. I suggested Winfield’s because of its proximity to my house and the menu looked good to my visitors. I called and got no answer. So I called again. And again. Then I got an answer. I made my order for 5 people and it was repeated back to me. My dad and husband went to pick it up and it was ready right on time. Score. The food came back to my house and we got it out. Found out that the order wasn’t complete — we were missing a side, and also extra ranch for the onion rings and extra dressing for a sandwich. I was charged for the extra side but for $ 3, we didn’t feel like going back. We were hungry. I got the roasted cauliflower grilled cheese again. It wasn’t as good — the cauliflower was cut too big so I didn’t get it in every bite. After eating one half, I picked up a bit of what I thought was roasted cauliflower off the bread of the other half of my sandwich and was about to put it in my mouth when I smelled it and dropped it immediately. Turns out it was a burned piece of pulled pork or some type of meat. NASTY. This broke my cardinal rule of vegetarianism — serve me meat and I am done with you. I didn’t eat it, though the person whose side was missing did. They got ribs and weren’t happy with them — they were very tough. My sister got the linguine and said it wasn’t good. I tasted it and not only was it not good, it was disgusting. Gummy, overcooked, no flavor. I had to wash my mouth out. I called to voice my displeasure after the meal. Again, no answer. I didn’t try again. I hate to write reviews like this but Winfield’s really struck out. I have no plans to return.

Meh. Ive experienced better is the perfect description for this place. I have been twice, the first time was just for drinks, watch the Blues game, get a couple of apps. Underwhelmed by beer selection(looked like an Applebees beer list), waitress was nice but kind of «desperate» in that she kept asking if we were going to come back??? And then the apps were just meh. However, it was one of their first weekends and I wanted to give it another chance before giving a rating. Went again tonight and really left with the same«meh» feeling. Ordered the Brisket sandwich and it wasnt good. Had to cut out some gristle chunks, it was kind of cold, and there was more bread than meat. My 3 yr old got a cheeseburger slider and it was the size of a WhiteCastle burger… he told the waitress it was yucky(he is kind of a dingus so whatever). Very underwhelming meal. Nothing I would ever go back for. They did something that was pretty cool in that they gave my son an iPad when we sat down that already had kids games/apps loaded on it. The service was pretty good and attentive on this visit Really great space and they built it out really nice. But everything about the food and drink selection is so boring. If they can find a way to step up the food and get some unique beers in here it will do well. Otherwise, it will just fade away after the nostalgia of the new«local restaurant» wears off

The interior is upscale… it doesn’t quite match the backyard country feel of the food. We came on opening week. Service was a little off. I’m sure it will get better. The food was ok. I had smoked chicken. It was good. The BBQ sauces are on the table. They were sticky, kind of gross… similar to the syrup containers at IHOP. I’m glad the place opened up. I’m sure they’ll continue to get better.

This place has not been open long, so it was busy when we went on a Thursday night. We waited about 35 minutes before being seated. The hostess was great along with our server. They where very busy so the extra dressing I asked for never came, but I wasn’t mad because like I said they where busy. I had the Caesar salad and the buffalo flat bread both where great.

Located in the old St. Louis Bread Company space in Kirkwood on Manchester, there is a new local family eatery that would love to include you in their family. Winfield’s Gathering Place is the latest venture of Owners Mark Winfield and former St. Louis Cardinals player Jimmy Edmonds. I wasn’t able to attend the soft opening last night so I made it my business to take my Mother for lunch on grand opening day. We started off with the spicy buffalo chicken dip w/tortilla chips. This was extremely delectable! Not at all fire alarm hot but impeccably piquant so all the flavors were at the hilt of perfection. While waiting on our main courses, Mr. Winfield and his charming wife came over and introduced themselves and checked on our thoughts so far. They are a very handsome and polite couple; they really went out of their way to make sure that everyone there felt welcome — after all their mantra is «you’ll walk in as a customer, you’ll leave as a friend and part of our family.» I ordered linguini with roasted garlic cream(Herb Roasted Chicken, Onion, Broccoli, Mushroom, Asiago Cheese, Basil Pesto). The pasta was perfectly al dente and bold flavors were certainly on full display. It was so good that I didn’t notice until afterwards that there was no chicken in my dish. I’ll chalk that up to nerves and a first day glitch. My Mother had a smoked turkey sandwich w/jalapeño-cheddar au gratin potatoes(with Bacon, Green Onion & Sour Cream). She let me taste her items and they were very good as well, even the barbeque sauces were delicious. I can say that her potatoes were missing the green onion and sour cream toppings. Again, it was day one and I will say though toppings were missing, the potatoes were still seasoned well and it was a tasty dish — not cheesy but still very good. It was enjoyable to see the back of the house in action but nothing seemed chaotic or rushed. All of the wait staff(in the front of the house) wore cute plaid blue shirts; they were extremely attentive and were ready and willing to explain any of the items on the menu. There are plenty of TVs for sports watching if you don’t want to miss a game and there truly isn’t a bad seat in the house. Winfield’s Gathering Place wants to be a communal place for locals of all sorts, family, friends and kids. Although I do have my own personal beliefs about children at eating establishments that aren’t Chucky Cheese, the kids that were in here today were relatively well behaved and their parents kept them in line. I hear they have something cool for kids to do. I’m not sure what it is but the children seemed to be entertained and weren’t running amok. They’ve gone with reclaimed wood for the tables and the sauce holders that were on the table and those conscious touches are always great to see. There is even a takeout area so you can call in and pick up your order(I will be calling in for that that spicy buffalo chicken dip). Winfield’s is sure to be a true Kirkwood treasure and a welcomed addition to St. Louis; when time permits — make an effort to check them out!
