Simply delicious food and HUGE portions! It was the perfect break from the usual fast food that you get in Orlando. We ordered the roasted pork trifongo(made with plantains, yuca and tostones) and the fried pork chunks trifongo. Both were delicious though the edge went to the roasted pork one. My son loved the grilled chicken breast sandwich. Prices were great and again portions are so generous! Will come back next time we are in Orlando

Visiting from OH and looking for a place to eat. Happened across Tropico Mofongo and decided to give it a try. So glad we did! Authentic, home cooked, delicious Latin food. Don’t let the strip mall setting fool you. This food is amazing. The staff was friendly and helpful(we were the only ones not speaking Spanish). We had the creole chicken mofongo and the Tropico chicken mofongo. Both were awesome! Portions are generous, and it comes out piping hot. Ordered a guava pastry to go– omg! So good!!! Can’t wait to go back!

This place was amazing!!! Awesome food. The waitresses were very helpful and took good care of us. Everything we ate was tasty. They are generous with their servings. I could only eat half of my sandwich. The avocado salad was incredible. So fresh tasting. The passion fruit was awesome too. I’ll Be back for sure!!!

I have been to this Latin American restaurant almost every time I have come to Orlando. over the last 10 or so years, and it has yet to disappoint. Knowing it is a small local restaurant I mainly get my fix, roast pork, to go. Getting there early is important to avoid long lines and wait times when you’re on a vacation schedule. If you want ambiance with great Latin American food, there are other places to go, but Tropico Mofongo is all about the food and that is why I have and will keep coming.

Food is delicioso! Only problem it appears everyone else knows this and now the lines are so long… the last two times I have opted to only buy the prepared food and take it to go rather than stand and wait 30 minutes + for a table. The mofongo is delicious but to give 2 hours for lunch when you are on vacation is a bit exhausting. I have previously ran in, ordered, then returned to pick up after running some errands. Their beans are usually excellent, potato salad is just like home and if you are lucky enough to be able to taste the avocado salad ENJOY! It is amazing,

Large portions and pricing just right. We ordered tons of food and left extremely full. Service was also pretty decent. Things came out fast. They did make a small mistake(wrong order), but that was fixed right away. Mofongo — Being that the name has Mofongo in it, we decided to make sure to try it. I felt the mofongo had WAY too much garlic. That’s basically all I tasted throughout it. I’m a big fan of garlic, but it just overpowered it. Empanadas — We tried both chicken and beef. it was decent. standard. Nothing really big to rave about. It did need to be stuffed a tiny bit more though. Skirt steak — I felt it was missing something. Maybe I’m comparing it too much to a restaurant in Philly, but I wanted that special red sauce! Also, I felt it was a tad on the dry side. Fried pork chunks — this was my wife’s dish. I had a few pieces. It was good(flavoring was perfect), but again, sorta dry. Camarones — this was my brother in law’s dish. I felt this may have been the best dish of the night. It wasn’t dry(I hope not considering it’s in sauce), and had the right amount of seasonings on it. Fried plantains — always a must with my wife anywhere we go. The sweetness along with it being fried… can’t go wrong with that! Overall — Would I be back? Most likely no. I’m only in FL once in awhile, and there are tons of other places to check out. If I lived down there. Probably yes and give it another go.

First let me say I am not a local. However a local resident recommended this place for good Puerto Rican food. Since I am Puerto Rican of course I had to try their food. When we arrived we were one of three customers. The main dining area was clean and music was playing. We sat in a booth. We ordered their speciality of Mofongo(with steak). Both my wife(who is not Puerto Rican) and I agreed that the Mofongo was really good. What made it so was the choice of seasoned sauces they had. There were three choices and I actually mixed two to get the flavor I wanted. That’s what made the difference. I can’t comment much on the service because when I arrived there the place was not busy so of course we got fast service. We must have gotten there before the normal crowd because when we left the place was packed. On a Sunday! That should tell you something. Recommend.

This is an small fast food Puerto Rican food, I had the churrasco mofongo(steak mofongo) and it was delicious. I’m giving them 3 stars because the bathroom was disgusting, the décor not inviting… The food was good, but not the best I had.

Tried this place tonight and it was awesome. The food was fantastic and although busy, the server was well on top of our table. I would rate it 5 stars if our beer was colder and the cake we ordered for dessert was better(stated it was a Dominican cake but didn’t hit the mark). The shrimp in their traditional sauce is out of this world. The table ordered skirt steak(churrasco) and it was perfectly medium as ordered. I would recommend this place in a heart beat… It’s a shame we’re not local to try it again. The atmosphere was inviting with upbeat music playing. This is not a fancy, upscale restaurant but absolutely hit the mark in food and service. Thanks Unilocal for helping us find this gem.

This is a pretty authentic Puerto Rican dining experience. The food is pretty tasty, and a nice place to grab a quick lunch. My favorite is the mofongo. You have to order it on the menu, but if you get the dinner one it is huge. It can serve about 2 – 4 people depending how hungry you are. Also, they have all of the traditional Puerto Rican foods a la carte and it is a great way to try different dishes. My go is arroz con pollo, platanos, and yuca. The portion sizes are huge as well, so you wont go hungry. If you do have room for dessert I suggest you get it. Their flan is awesome, but like their main dishes all the desserts I’ve tried so far have been pretty good.

Best Puertorican food I’ve had in ages. Better than I cook at home.

Great Mofongo! Really liked the blood sausage and the empanada. We ordered the Mofongo with pork cracklin mixed in.

Honestly I wanted to really like this place… it had some pretty good reviews, but the food was just not that good and kind of questionable. Is the mofungo supposed to be hard and dry in texture? If it is, then it was perfect and it’s just not my type of food. But if not, it felt like someone scooped out some mofungo and left it under a heat lamp all day and when it was finally served to me, it had this solidified scooped shape to it and was completely void of any moisture or flavor. Also, they were not very accommodating to our party of 7. They didn’t want to move over a small table to make another table longer(and yes there was plenty of space) so our group had to split up. Not that big of a deal… if the food was good, but it wasn’t so that just added to the whole negative experience.

Hard for me to give a review since I don’t have Puerto Rican food much. But from a palate perspective, the fried pork was pretty tough. It was mostly fat and very much like beef jerky. The mixed seafood bowl was flavorful but not sure it was really anywhere near $ 25 of seafood Bathrooms are super clean Water didn’t taste so good Kids meals are frozen fries and chicken nuggets that are heated up

Thank you fellow Unilocalers for leading me to this gem. Best mofongo ever at very reasonable price. My take is add $ 1 n get the trifongo instead. I certainly over order. Had the lunch special too, fried pork with rice and yuca mojo n a lone plantain mojo. Didn’t care for the plantain mojo but the yuca is good. Not oily, which is what I like. Had the trifongo with pork pernil. The crackling is a lil tough but flavorful. The pork is a little dry but the flavor is spot on. A lil hot sauce helps. My lunch company had the Cuban sandwich n another had the fried chicken on the bone with rice n beans. The sandwich comes with chock full of meat but doesn’t taste as good as café Pinar’s. The beans is lackluster compared to Café Pinar. I also got an order of goat stew to go. They charge you by the pound, but don’t worry. It is very cheap. My advice is don’t skip it. The goat stew is melt in your mouth tender and taste really good. Will definitely stick with trifongo with pork pernil and an order of goat stew next time. The AC needs a lot work. Get your food to go.

First time here. We were the only non-Hispanics in this otherwise packed restaurant, so you know it’s got to be good. And it was! Everything very flavorful and properly cooked. Extensive buffet. Tough decision. Limited beer and wine selection.
