As expected. Nothing spectacular but nothing bad. Chix fingers are probably the best thing on the menu. Kids menu is more varied with chowder and seafood offerings without a higher cost. One thing though, don’t serve dried out and scarred limes on your drinks. Basic no-no of bar tending.

This is a family friendly seafood restaurant. the lobster version of their bloody mary is not worth the extra $ 3. if you really need a piece of seafood in your bloody mary go with the shrimp version. I had my second lobster roll of the season here. which is more than I usually eat in any year. the service is fast and friendly. the food is better than should be expected. and this restaurant is conveniently located to the outlet malls.

A long time staple in southern Maine. Great place for chowder and lobster roll. Family atmosphere with great staff. Weathervane is weathered looking but wouldn’t be a trip to Kittery without visiting. Love the charm.

You know what was great? I walked in with my two kids for a treat. Weathervane is always a treat. I came in on a Wednesday, having NOIDEA that kid’s meals are $ 1.99 on Wednesdays. A buck ninety-nine! SCORE! So with the kids getting dinner for a whopping $ 3.00 … MOMMYGOTTOEATLOBSTER. DOUBLESCORE.

Went here after shopping. Drinks were awesome and decently priced. The waiter we had was pretty informative about the specials and what was included with the meals. I had the house margaritas, they were very refreshing and yummy. We ordered an appetizer and were confused when it didn’t come out before our meal. It seems that the kitchen didnt cook it. they brought it out for us afterwards so we could take it to go. The waiter was very apologetic about this. For the amount of food and drinks we got as well as the atmosphere, the price was right for an evening out. Seafood was on point.

Went here for a family dinner with my parents and sons. The atmosphere is nice, maybe a bit touristy, but nothing overly negative about it. Our server was excellent, very attentive and informative. I ordered the baked haddock and was very pleased with it. Nothing overly spectacular, but it was cooked perfectly and tasted wonderful.

We have been coming here for at least twenty five years. It’s always our next stop after the trading post. This time the haddock was dry and the manager said it is frozen, not fresh. The scallops in the fisherman’s platter LOOKED like sea but we’re just bay in disguise with a ton of breaking. My steamed lobster was good and the steamers were very good but I think it’s time to hunt for a new favorite

Where to begin? I guess with the gross sticky table and chairs. So bad that we had to move to another table that was only a little bit of an improvement. We got clam strips and fried fish. The clam strips were all stuck together in a big mass. The were not crunchy at all. The fish was battered, which just isn’t my thing. I prefer breaded. It was very greasy. My kids got chicken tenders that were fine. Just not very flavorful. The French fries were fine and service was fine. I will not be returning. When in Maine, good seafood is what you want and we did not find it here.

I drove up to Maine specifically to have a lobster roll and Weathervane looked good from the outside. Inside, decorated with a naval theme. Several pictures of submarines and even a several foot lone scale model of one hanging in the dining area. Menus are glossy and there’s a big push for their mixed drinks. Weathervane has several locations. I had the clam chowder to start. It was quite chunky and thick with potatoes. Maybe not as many clams as I would have liked, but it was hot and it was tasty and I cleaned out the bowl. For main, I had the lobster roll with fries. A good portion of large pieces of lobster meat, none of that minced stuff here. Tasty though the toasted roll could have been warmer. Same with the fries — they weren’t cold, but they weren’t hot. Overall, the lobster roll was excellent but the rest of the plate was only okay. Service was good. My waiter apologized for the delay(there was a delay?) and refilled my drink just the once. Decent meal, not quite worth an hour drive. But I managed to get in my first ME review and therefore my 39th state.

I ate here yesterday with some of my family and it was an O.K. experience. The food wasn’t all that bad, but it was mostly cold by the time it arrived at our table. I ordered a half portion of fried shrimp which was pretty good. The coleslaw it came with was nice, but the fries were cold and and not the best I’ve had. Another person at my table ordered the side of sweet potato waffle fries and the first plate was cold, so they were sent back. The second plate, however, was hot and the fries were excellent. The service was good and I can’t complain about that. Altogether, it wasn’t an awful experience at all and we had a nice family dinner, but I have had better seafood elsewhere.

Stopped in Kittery on our way up to Wells for a little shopping and a bite to eat. When we walked in the place was pretty empty(late lunch 2pm) we were seated fairly quickly in the back of the restaurant, cramped in a corner and two of the people we were with had to squeeze into their chairs careful not to hit the people behind them. It was about 50 degrees in there and after looking at my menu for about 10 minutes not one person came to acknowledge us. At one point about five wait staff were standing together at a station. We finally got up and walked over to the bar. We quickly got our drinks and at that point already knew what we wanted to eat. Mind you not one person even came by to ask why we left our table. The food was just OK, probably will not be back. Gave two stars due to the good service we got from the bartender only.

Lobster roll was tasty, didn’t have too much mayo. The roll was kinda plain, wish they used better quality bread instead of the hot dog buns you can get in the store.

I so wanted to have an enjoyable experience. 20 years ago we couldn’t drive by here without stopping. I’d now tell you to keep going. The service today was terrible. Waited 10 minutes to even see a server, she never checked in and getting a soda refill was a challenge. I had a chicken Caesar wrap, something I had here several times and was looking forward to it. The wrap was good, the fries cold and soggy, but by the time my waitress checked in, it was too late. And she set her fate on her tip as she didn’t provide change for any more than a 10% tip, no way she was getting $ 5 on a $ 13 bill. Made the decision easy. ****Update: pleased to report I was contacted by the manager in response to my 1 star review for additional feedback. Based on this, I’m moving the review from 1 star to 2 star.

Now, this is funny(strange funny not haha funny). I have been going to this location for ages and was talking about it yesterday at work. I was saying that I like this location better than the one in Salem with one exception. At this location there are several rooms and the one at the back right — near the bathrooms — always smells like pee. Some kidder said«You should write a review and mention that!». I replied that I was sure I had. Oops, guess I never did remember to review the place never mind give you all the heads up to avoid the back room. Not sure why it stinks, I actually don’t think it’s related to the proximity to the bathrooms and yes, I’ve mentioned it to them. And here’s the rest of what I would have told you years ago that is still valid today: The lobster roll and the chowder(clam or fish) are both decent for the money. If you get the scampi, go with the bigger shrimp(an upgrade). Their specials are usually decent, but don’t order the fried seafood plate, they use those tiny shrimp and it’s a waste. If you’re really craving fried seafood, pick the half and half and choose your 2 favorites. Useful non menu tips: –The Claw Club is a waste unless you go there often. –In the summer they have a lot of foreign help and you’re better off sticking with one of the regular wait staff. TL;DR Decent lobster roll & clam chowder for cheap money. Stay away from the back room near the bathrooms.

I will not be going back to this restaurant. The service was terrible and you could barely understand the girl who was our server due to her thick accent. You could clearly tell she was new because she struggled the whole time. I ordered the fish chowder and for a sea food restaurant I expected it to be a lot better, wouldn’t order it again. My guests got the crab melt and the bacon cheddar burger. The crab melt looked delicious but it came out a solid twenty minutes after the other dishes. The cheddar bacon burger was cold and the fries you could tell were old. The atmosphere was kinda dark and needs some updating. I won’t be back!

The hubby chose poorly when he decided we should come here. Drove up to Kittery for some outlet shopping. The lobsta roll was tiny and not that great. I wound up getting a stomachache shortly after eating my lobsta roll. His clam strips weren’t that great either. Should’ve gone to Bob’s across the street instead…

Not. bad. That’s all I can really say. Over-hyped, with mediocre food at excessive prices. Alas the fame and fortune that led what was apparently an excellent food shack to becoming a multi-state chain has corrupted it into a tourist trap hawking chintzy merch and wholly forgettable food. Not bad at all for a tourist trap restaurant, but not at all worth the price.

Everywhere. Basic uninspired seafood usually accompanied by poor service. Try the crab sandwich for takeout… there are so many great spots around for a picnic Let them cook and serve yourself.

After power shopping through the Kittery outlets, we needed something to eat. This place gets the job done, but without any frills or style. Carpeted restaurants may be the bane of Chef Robert Irvine’s existence(see TLC’s Restaurant Impossible) but I think he has the right idea. The space is a little musty, and a little old. We had a crab melt and an almond crusted haddock salad. The salad was mixed greens with a couple of pieces of tomato, and there were three giant pieces of the haddock, the crust mostly breading with a few slivered almonds pressed into the breading. Delicious, but not very pretty. This would be a great place for families, or large groups, as the service and hostesses are very efficient — but a no-frills place.
