, holy cow this place is the best. Fish tacos are so delicious! Fresh caught, super delicious food!!!

Being from San Diego where truly great Mexican food is all over, I didn’t expect much from Da Crack… Boy, was I wrong! I had the pork bowl with Mexican Rice and a ton of fixings. It was really, really good. The ingredients were fresh, the salsa packed a good, but manageable, punch and the food was piping hot when I got it. The restaurant’s ambiance is super laid-back & casual, basically you’re standing in a parking lot. But don’t let that stop you, we met some really cool people while standing in line and the food is worth it.

This was a pretty easy 5 star review. This place has delicious Mexican food and the value is unbeatable. My wife ordered a veggie burrito and I had a chicken burrito bowl and we each got a drink. The total was just over $ 20 and I swear it was enough food for 3 – 4 people. If you aren’t the biggest eaters, you could likely split something here but we actually both liked it so much that we each finished all of our food(likely because we were so hungry after hiking all day). The place itself is really just a walk up window and there are two benches and one small table right outside the place so if you need more space, it might be better to take it to go.

for a cheaper lunch option, this place is the ticket! I got the vegan burrito which comes with guacamole, also had beans and some other yummy fixins. Huge burrito that was great after a day at the beach! Not a lot of seating options(it’s literally in a strip mall with a walk up window) but has a cool, relaxed vibe. Would definitely go back!

After a day sightseeing on the Hawaiian island of Kauai with the young Baronets(Gob and DJ Hoot) we spotted Da Crack in a non-descript row of shops just off Poipu Road in Koloa(which is on the south side of Kauai). It is literally a hole(or crack) in the wall. There was a huge line outside, it was dusk, it was soon to close and with no seating area it wasn’t going to be that convenient for us especially with two hungry girls in a car(so we ventured down the road to the trendy Kukui’ula Village with its array of restaurants). I thought that would be my first and last opportunity to visit Da Crack. Thankfully, the following day, the Baronets and I were returning from Koloa Town on the public bus and it stopped right outside that non-descript row of shops. It was just on midday so I forced Gob and DJ Hoot quickly off the bus(with the promise of some ice cream from Lappert’s afterwards), and straight to Da Crack’s serving window(under great protest). Da CrackDa Crack’s serving window is the hole in the wall and is below a humerous cartoon of a Mexican in a sombrero showing his bum crack. When you peer into that window you may see three staff busily working in the cramped kitchen. Da Crack merchandise(such as t-shirts and beer coolers) are fastened on the window shutters as is the menu. There’s a long stool on either side and a bottle opener on a string behind a shutter, and that’s about it. But you don’t come for the ambience(because there isn’t any unless you like watching cars parking). You come for tasty Mexican grinds(street food). The menu is pretty simple and features your choice of filling as a taco, burrito or in a bowl. The fresh fish or garlic shrimp is $ 11.99, comes with black or pinto beans; plain or Mexican rice; chipotle or wasabi sour cream topped with sliced cabbage and pico de gallo(which is a fresh salsa). If seafood isn’t you thing then you can have meat(chicken, beef or pork) $ 8.99 or vege $ 8.50, again as a taco, burrito or in a bowl. These meals come with your choice of Mexican browns rice or plain rice; pinto beans or black beans, hot, mild or fire sauce, olives, cabbage, tomatoes, onions, and fresh jalapeños. Cheese and sour cream is included and you can also order extra sides(like guacamole, etc). You can also have the same«fillings’ as nachos or in a quesadilla. Da Crack also has breakfast burrito(the sunrise burrito for $ 9.99), which consists of Portuguese sausage with scrambled eggs, black or pinto beans; plain or Mexican rice; cheese and sour cream, sliced cabbage, tomatoes, onions, olives and jalapeños. For drinks you wash your grinds down with a Mexican Coke(it has cult status in the US) or Jarritos(the Mexican fruit-flavoured spritzers for $ 2.50), canned soda or juice($ 1) or water($ 1.25). Da Crack Fish TacoFor the keiki(kids) there was a meat or vege burrito($ 6.99/$ 5.99) or a meat, vege or cheese quesadilla($ 6.50/$ 5.99/$ 4.99). The Baronets were encouraged to share the beef quesadilla(they had never had one and knew as soon as we were out of there we would be on our way to Lappert’s). I just had to order the fish taco as my server told me that all Da Crack’s fish was bought fresh that morning and today’s fish being used was mahi mahi. Excellent as I am a fan of this fish. After a 10 minute wait out came the grinds. I didn’t hear one word of protest from the Baronets. They loved the beef quesadilla with its shredded marinated meat intertwined with some melted cheese. DJ Hoot remarked that it was a Mexican jaffle or «toastie». So impressed with this culinary discovery they have been asking for it back in Sydney when the toastie press comes out on weekends. I was glad that I took my server’s advice but disappointed I didn’t go for some more extreme hot sauce. It was a large soft taco filled with firm, yet tender cubes of mahi mahi topped with cabbage, pico de gallo and jalapeños. The chipotle sauce was fine but I should have gone the habenero. The side of slightly Mexican rice was good — not over cooked and the black beans added some extra protein oomph and substance to the whole meal. I was certainly not left hungry. When we finished and started walking back to the bus stop I thought that the joy of the beef quesadilla would suppress the Baronets’ memories of the promise of Lappert’s famous ice cream. Nope. So off we trudged across the road to the Lappert’s ice cream store in the Kukuiula Shopping Village — Kauai’s most famous export since pineapples. Da Crack is a great crack in the wall which respects the tradition of simple yet flavoursome Mexican street food.

Great little joint serving burritos and tacos. Recommend the burrito bowl — it’s big enough to share. Get the wasabi sour cream, you won’t be disappointed.

As good as everyone says. Yes, it’s just a take-out window, but the food is insane. What’s really striking is that the menu is along the lines of Chipotle, but it tastes so much better. There’s no dish here you can’t find anywhere else, they just make everyday things like burritos better than anyone else. I found myself craving this place for days afterwards, so I’d only be mildly surprised if I one day found out that crack was actually in Da Crack. And for a place with no frills and a long line, the guy at the window was nicer than he had to be. A good experience overall.

Looked great based on the 4 star rating. Great lil location, cool walk up window Hawaiian island vibe and cool diverse menu. The guy at the counter helped me order the fish of the day bowl and it was loaded up. The ahi tuna was great!!! All three of the one inch square by quarter inch thick cubes of it. $ 16 bucks for a bowl full of lettuce, veggies and rice with the three skinny ahi pieces. That totally bummed me out. All it needed was two more little squares of tuna and this place would’ve been five stars. The taste was great!

Amazing fish taco and shrimp burrito and we are from San Diego so we are really spoiled when it comes to Mexican food. A little overpriced!

Highly overrated. My husband and I stopped here after our kayaking adventure with Outfitters Kauai. Despite the hesitation from our local guides, we tried out their food. We ordered 3 burritos — fish, chicken and pork. Everything was very salty and uneventful. I was very hopeful that the fish would be good, given the previous reviews, and I was very disappointed — it was dry, salty and bland(i know! salty but bland is a real thing). I wouldn’t recommend it, there are better options out there. Side note: no seating, just a pick up window

Great(literal) hole in the wall Mexican food. We ordered a chicken burrito and chicken bowl and both were good. There isn’t really anywhere to eat nearby so we suggest taking your food to the beach which is maybe a 5 minute drive. Prices and quality are good so don’t miss this stop if you like Mexican food! They let you customize your order pretty heavily so you can usually get exactly what you want.

Pretty good Mexican food. We stopped on on a recommendation from our zip line guide. There is really nowhere to sit and eat except for a couple of small benches so we just took our food a few blocks to the beach and found picnic tables there. I would eat here again.

This burrito really hit the spot! My friend told me we were going to this Mexican place and i definitely was not expecting a burrito joint, but it turned out to be really good and just what i was wanting! Being the Mexican food snob that i am, I’d argue that this may not totally qualify as Mexican but it does kind of fall into the category along side Chipotle and similar burrito businesses. It is a bit different, and although i dont like guac and sour cream, it’s awesome that they will include in the burrito at no charge(don’t quote me on that because on second thought, they may charge for guac but i remember somehow being impressed). Anyways, for a on the go burrito in Poipu, Da crack is where it’s at!

This place was amazing! My boyfriend and I both got pork burritos. The pork was delicious and so tender it basically melted in your mouth, and you could even see the reddish color of slow-cooked BBQ pork. They have really great daily specials as well if you aren’t into barbecue pork. Their chipotle sour cream was delicious and all the ingredients were evenly distributed throughout the burritos. When ordering here you really can’t go wrong as all the ingredients are complementary. Finally, this place was cheeappp compared to all the other restaurants in the area. What a deal. The burrito could have fed me twice. (Sorry one last thing) Take a look at their mission statement it’ll make you feel even more excited to eat here. Also don’t forget to check out The Fresh Shave and the market next door.

Best meal I’ve had in Hawaii! I got the shrimp burrito and the shrimp were perfectly done, hot sauce every distributed and the burrito did not fall apart. The only real issue I had was that I specifically said«no pico» and still got pico in the burrito = ew. Regardless, worth the trek and while you wait pop in next door to grab drinks and snacks for later!

I was a little skeptical of eating Mexican food on Kauai… but this place really impressed me. I ordered a kid’s chicken burrito, which was more than enough for me as a lunch. the meat was tender, the food was hot, service was quick and friendly. The only downside is that there isn’t an area to enjoy our food, but it’s pretty well advertised that this place is a just a pick up window where you can order food. It’s located right outside a cute neighborhood market with a sushi bar and juice bar inside.

Best burritos in the area! We are lucky to stay near Da Crack when we come to Kauai. The burritos are exceptional. I highly recommend visiting this hole in the wall when you come to Kuaui!

GIANTBURRITOS! FOOD: Can’t be mad when the burritos are humongous! I do wish that some of the fillings for the burrito tasted fresher, however. The olives and beans are obviously from a can. I liked the chicken filling though and thought the homemade chips were pretty great. SERVICE&SPACE meh. It’s a whole in the wall, for sure, but it could benefit from at least some small seating, or a nicer interior or friendlier staff… PRICE About $ 9. Fair considering that you could probably split a burrito between 2 – 3 people.

We had their delicious burritos 2 nights in a row: that’s how much we liked ‘em(and also because there aren’t that many good food options in Poipu). Chicken burritos are enormous: the meat is marinated, shredded and juicy . Fish and shrimp burritos were oh so fresh, understandably smaller than the chicken’s. Get the wasabi sauce if you eat da fish. We also liked that you can choose your veggie and sauce options. Service is friendly and fast, food is fresh and very tasty . Seriously, we live in the Bay Area aka burrito land and Da Crack’s burritos were amongst the best, tastiest we’ve ever had.
