Yummy ice cream, many island inspired flavors. The single scoop in a cup seemed tiny at first glance but was plenty. The rest in our group loved the waffle cones and cups. Lots of island inspired flavors. T The ordering system is not very well defined– the line starts o the left of the main counter and snakes back towards the door.

I’d like to give Lappert’s four stars for their ice cream, because it’s really good, but I have to hold back because of the level of service. The first time we visited Lappert’s, we were looking to sample their flavors since they have a lot of combos I’ve not had before. The older woman behind the counter asked if we needed help, and when I requested a sample, she seemed begrudged to offer one. I let it slide, because I try to combat that sort of unfriendliness with a giant helping of More Kindness. That did NOT do anything to break the icy façade. I went on and ordered a cup for myself and my nephew. After we got our ice cream, we sat outside and my family and I enjoyed our ice cream.(Kauai Pie is so great). I forget who commented first about the woman, but the general consensus was, she needed to pump up her customer service skills a bit and not come off as cold as the ice cream she’s serving. Despite my hesitation, we decided to go to Lappert’s again because my nephews love ice cream. We also thought my parents should have some because it is that good. The same woman was behind the counter. Luckily, I did not have to order from her. The rest of the staff are friendly and smile when talking to you. When you’re on vacation, you’re usually(hopefully) in a good mood. So, stepping into a business and being served by a person who isn’t friendly, is deflating. It leaves a bad taste in your mouth. I would recommend Lappert’s to friends, but I would caution them about that one woman.

My husband and I really liked our ice cream ! The cashew Carmel turtle was so amazing! The staff was very patient while we were selecting our flavor. The pastry section was well stocked even for it being the end of the day. We will be on the island a couple more days and will definitely stop back again! The ice cream is a little spendy but well worth it because of the quality.

The ice cream is good and nice to have after a small meal or while shopping around the center. The pastries and coffee are great as well. We came back the next morning and really enjoyed the coffee

I found my new love, Macadamia Nut Ice Cream!!! I have been to some of the best Ice Cream places in the U.S., and I know this is a bold claim, but Lappert’s is truly among the best. The Ice Cream here is not too sweet, and the shop is filled with favors that are original and only found in Hawaii. While my favorite is Macadamia Nut, hands down, I especially liked the Kaua’i Pie, an original. If Ice Cream is not exactly your thing, the Sorbets at Lappert’s are also worth craving. Wished Lappert’s delivered like Ice Cream Jubilee in Washington, D.C., another one of the best Ice Cream joints in the U.S. I have had Lappert’s from the beginning, over 30 years ago, my age is showing, but that just means I have developed a good baseline to compare Lappert’s against. Lappert’s is like fine wine and has gotten better over the years. I can’t wait to come back home to Hawaii(Kaua’i) to get me more Macadamia Nut Ice Cream!

White Chocolate Macadamia Ice Cream in a waffle cone is delicious. Their chocolate macadamia shortbread cookies are killer. Love visiting this spot in Kauai!

Tried a couple of ice cream flavors and they were delicious. Took all my self control not to get 5 scoops. Ordered the Affogato with Kauai Pie ice cream. 3 stars for messing it up and pouring the hot coffee right on the ice cream. It was ok. ice cream flavored liquid coffee. Will get a regular cone next time

Lappert’s was not what we expected. Ice cream was not impressive as we were told. Prices were a bit high for quality and size. Yes its a nice store, but not worth the drive. There are plenty local spots that have better ice cream at a better value. I love the smell of coffee when you walk into a coffee shop, well forget it, you wont experience that here. Once you step in — your coffee craving goes away.

Delicious coffee and their cookie selection is to Die for! We brought home a box on our way out. The customer service was excellent every time. Next time we will try the ice cream it seemed to be a favorite!

AMAZING. Right now, I’m really wishing Lappert’s shipped farther than the Rocky Mountains! This is a nice big shop, with nice customer flow and lots of seating. The employees are great, and didn’t seem to mind that we were overwhelmed with the options of ice cream, gelato, toppings, and cones. The ice cream is obviously awesome. I don’t have to tell you that. Every single other review tells you the same. There’s also a modest cookie case, and I think they sell coffee too? And the fresh waffles are top notch. I had a waffle cone dipped in chocolate with sprinkles, and the layer of chocolate was so thick & there were so many rainbow sprinkles that the empty cone is a dessert all on its own. Ok, I lied. Let’s talk about the ice cream. WHOA. I had lemon gelato with coconut shavings & crushed up vanilla cookies, which was spectacular and I’d eat it every day of my life. But my husband had the Banana Fudge, which I can easily say is the best ice cream I’ve ever had in my entire life. Seriously. Nothing beats it. It was sweet, with a great creamy banana flavor, and the fudge ribbons were so good and just the right amount. Not overwhelming at all. Seriously, the best. If you can only allow yourself one scoop of Lappert’s ice cream, that scoop should be Banana Fudge. (And if someone can figure out how to ship it to the East Coast, I’d be forever grateful!)

AMAZING ice cream!!! Carmel coconut macadamia is my favorite flavor. I don’t know what they do to the ice cream, but it is . $ 5 for a single scoop ice cream is pretty steep, but it’s so good I’ve already been twice in the past three days. A definite must try when in Hawaii. Unique flavors, friendly service and you can sample the flavors before you commit to the cone. They also have a punch card which would be great if you lived here. We will be back every time we go to Hawaii!

I love this location since it’s air conditioned and has self serve water but I’ve gone there and ordered a scoop of macadamia nut ice cream to receive a scoop of macadamia nut ice cream with no pieces of macadamia nuts. In all my life of eating Lappert’s during the summer have I ever received a scoop of macadamia nuts with no pieces macadamia nuts. Their macadamia nut ice cream always has actual pieces of macadamia nuts. It was absurd. Maybe it was the way the ice cream guy scooped the ice cream or that the tub wasn’t a good tub or that it was just bad luck. Who knows.

So yummy! Luckily we were only in Kauai for 3 days or else we surely would have gained a ton of weight from eating here. Everyday we stopped in to grab some of their delicious ice cream! My first ice cream was White Chocolate Macadamia Nut. This was definitely rich. There were bits of white chocolate throughout the ice cream. Couldn’t really taste the macadamia but mouthwatering nonetheless. If you want something lighter, I recommend Auntie Lilikoi’s Passion Fruit Sorbet and Hayden Mango Sorbet. I had this for breakfast on the last day, haha. Whatever you decide on, definitely get it in the waffle cone. They are freshly made and come on, waffle cone tastes better than a cup ;) For all you San Diegan, do not mistaken this Lappert’s for the one in SD. We did some research and they are NOT the same.

If I could live here, I would do it and happily gain 100 lbs. Not sure why I didn’t bother trying Lappert’s until the 2nd to last day. I vowed to come back again that night after dinner but I was way too full. We had the white chocolate macadamia nut and roasted banana salt caramel in the waffle cup. SOOOGOOD! I’ll see you again soon, Lappert’s. Hopefully…

Delicious Hawaiian ice cream. Lots of classic and Hawaiian inspired flavors. I got the Heavenly Hana(creamy chocolate ice cream with swirls of marshmallow, chunks of white chocolate covered macadamia nuts, dark chocolate almond chunks, chocolate bits, and roasted almonds). In a waffle cone of course. Not super cheap but even one scoop was a hefty portion.

We stopped in for ice cream after an afternoon’s adventure that included our car’s battery dying in the parking lot at Kukui Grove shopping center in Lihue. After a long wait the guy from the car rental company’s road service came and jumped the battery. He advised us to trade the car in since there was major corrosion on the battery terminal and since we were near the Thrifty site, we went over and took care of it. It was done quickly and professionally and we were on our way w/a shiny new Altima w/half the miles the previous car had had. On our way back to Poi’pu Alan suggested a stop at Lappert’s. He went in, got ice cream for himself and a tiny, but generous scoop of chocolate macadamia nut for me. It was a tasty treat that took the edge off the afternoon’s events.

Stopped at two different locations when on Kauai. The first time we got the roasted banana salt caramel and it was great. The second time I should have sampled the White Chocolate Macadamia before I bought it because it was a bit bland. The one downside is the high price for one scoop. Ah the price of paradise!

An island staple. Delicious fresh old-fashion style ice cream with amazing hawaiian flavors. I love their Kaua’i Pie: Kona coffee ice cream swirled with chocolate fudge. Go in for a scoop, and if you’re there for a while don’t forget to use a stamp card to get a free ice cream after your 10th visit. Pro tip: Any of their ice cream can be made into a milkshake which is amazing, and they’ll even let you choose multiple flavors for one milkshake.

Phenomenal ice cream! Super creamy & rich ice cream that comes in all the local favorite flavors — macadamia nuts, coconut, kona coffee, passion fruit, etc… Definitely get one of these local flavors because you won’t be able to find them easily on the mainland & they are delicious! You really can’t go wrong here. Like many others have said, it’s kind of pricey here($ 3.95 for a single scoop) but the scoops are large. Tip: If there’s 2 of you, get a double scoop($ 5.95) rather than 2 single scoops, save yourself $ 2! Even better, put it in a waffle bowl($ 1) & share so you can try 2 flavors. If you really can’t decide, get the«I can’t decide» which is 5 half scoops in a waffle bowl($ 7.95). Best part, aside from the delicious ice cream, is that it’s open late(11pm). So while the rest of the island is asleep, you can be eating ice cream!
